When clicking Buy All on a Wanted List and then clicking Auto-Select, only third-party
stores are listed. The price of a part is often (but not always) cheaper from
LEGO's PaB website than from any third-party store. Also, PaB shipping is
free if the order is at least $35, whereas shipping costs can really add up when
buying from third-party stores. LEGO has owned BL for almost half a decade.
Why is LEGO's PaB website not included among the stores on BL?

(I tried to search for this suggestion in the Forum but didn't find anything)

Anyone have the data on what percentage of parts/colors/patterns available on
BrickLink is on the current PAB menu?

Also, I think the prices would become much higher if LEGO had to pay enough people
to ship every order as quickly and accurately as a good BL shop does.

In my experience, it's rare that PaB is actually cheaper - if it were I'd
definitely be buying parts there and selling them here.

Why would LEGO care whether any third-party stores (i.e. competitors of LEGO's

Because that would directly impact their own sales. Myself and many others focus
solely on new sets and new set part outs, buying multiple copies of high dollar
sets. How many $200, $400, $600+ sets do regular consumers (or BL buyers without
a store) buy per year, and how many do small rinky dink stores like me - or
extremely large stores not like me - buy per month? I'd argue that an enthusiastic
3PS is worth a minimum - minimum - of 40 run of the mill consumers.

Also, third-party stores would still be indispensable, because there are so many
parts that are unavailable from the PaB website.

Indispensable and profitable are two different things. Plus how many people
place an order for 50 lots of discontinued parts? Think of at least five of
unavailable parts you're trying to find and go look at the sales history
of it. At best it's current for sale average is probably a couple of bucks
and at least three of those probably have an outlier that's ~50% below the
average. From the sounds of it, you're going to buy from the cheapest store,
and they made "a coupl'a bucks". That's not running a business,
that's running a charity without the benefits of 501c status.

When taking over bricklink, LEGO claimed they wouldn't interfere with the
marketplace, implying they wouldn't compete with sellers. If they want to
compete with sellers, then many sellers will leave and move to the independent
marketplace.

They would also need to behave like other BL sellers. I'd leave them negative
feedback unless they improved their order turn around times.

Lego owns Bricklink, and Bricklink is strictly third-party sellers; the site
would die and Lego would lose money on their investment & whatnot

If you want to source parts from PAB and Bricklink, use BrickHunter, a Chrome
extension that lets you upload a wanted list & auto-selects parts from PAB and
shows what you would need to get from Bricklink if parts are unavailable or retired

Yes, BH is amazing, and I often use it. But it adds another layer of complexity
and another step in the process.

Ever order from PAB? Enjoy your bricks 2-3 months later.

For standard bricks but yah it’s crazy.

since bricklink is specifically for 3rd party sellers, not lego themselves. if
lego came over to bricklink and started ramping up then most stores on bricklink
would have to close down as they cant compete with lego if they are on the same
site which would then just end up making bricklink a reskinned PAB.

cool pizza flag

pizza!

Why would LEGO care whether any third-party stores (i.e. competitors of LEGO's

since they make up a good chunk of Lego's revenue. 3rd party sellers buy
from lego and then do lots of work which if lego themselves did and paid employees
minimum wage they probably couldn't make it profitable so with the current
setup all parties involved benefit. Also it seems lego is pursuing this route
as there have been surveys from lego and bricklink trying to improve the lego-reseller
connection.

Also, third-party stores would still be indispensable, because there are so many
parts that are unavailable from the PaB website.

To a point but if lego started selling lots on bricklink then a good chunk of
sales would move to them and then the stores that could offer said parts would
have most of their stock not moving since lego takes that and then they probably
wouldn't bother with selling the few parts that lego doesn't sell as
sales would be significantly lower and make it not profitable for many

pardon my ignorance (I'm an AFOL newbie), but could you explain this a little?
what work?

Listing and pulling orders is usually extremely work intensive in comparison
to profit.

I have seen a lot of sellers offer multiple different discounts. It would be
nice to have a filter that you can choose the discounts you want to see instead
of just all sales. Like if a shop has different sale percentages at 10, 25, 30,
50 and 75 percent off you could filter for everything above 50%.

This is a comparison to a created number. There are no sales on bricklink.
Just different prices.

Yes but this example just illustrates someone not using the system properly and
I'm pretty sure we don't require a system built around a one off user
not using the system correctly?

A system shouldn’t allow its users to use it incorrectly.
(That includes sellers marking orders complete )

And your point? Removing the Completed option would solve this issue at the same
time?
Besides which as a Seller I have never marked an order as Complete! Once I mark
the order status as 'Shipped' I then leave the customer alone to change
the status from there on in

“You’re holding wrong” is a registred trademark.  BrickLink is too cheap to use
it.

I can imagine the feedback they left was interesting....

"Great Seller, Order is on its way and it will arrive in good time and be
absolutely perfect!"

Have you read the feedback left on other plateforms?  It’s sometimes worse than
that.

I don't know if one can do the same on eBay
(it seems one can click the "Leave Feedback" button but I don't know
if the form can be submitted), but in any case, since eBay also tracks orders,
I imagine the order isn't complete until the buyer has received it (I don't
know what happens in cases where the order can't be tracked).

I think if the buyer marks the order as "Received" and then leaves positive
feedback the order should automatically complete. Maybe when the buyer leaves
any kind of feedback? Not sure about that last part.

The way I see it the very final option in the dropdown should be 'Received'
with no need for a 'Completed' option. The buyer essentially completes
their order by leaving feedback!

i.e they mark as received and then leave feedback once they are happy with their
order or if they are unhappy with their order they mark as received, message
seller for a resolution, wait for issue to be resolved(or not resolved) and then
leave appropriate feedback. By leaving feedback the buyer is finished with that
order and it is essentially complete

Sensible. Put it forward as a Suggestion post, I say.

Abolutely not please.

Buyer also can be too kind and post immediately a positive feedback when having
paid, or even before!

This would close the order as "Completed" while it wasn't meant

If the buyer has left feedback prior to item being received/shipped then that
would be a bit silly and they are in no better position regardless of whether
the order has been completed or not!

See Help page of definition of Status Completed.

A positive feedback doesn't mean the order is completed.

It doesn't mean your original statement makes any more sense either?

Kind of, re-read "while it wasn't meant" as "while it could haven't
been meant".

But who cares, the fact is there's no / not always relationship between feedback
and status.

I mean apart if everything's rewritten, like status, feedbacks, alerts...

But as of right now, a quick and easy way to straighten things would be to:

* redefine the Completed status in Help,

* or make seller not able to set the order to Completed.

Right now we're discussing in vain because it's one of the points where
BrickLink doesn't work or can't be used as described

I'm off this subject, sorry.

That's okay I can round-up things then....

Basically a buyer doesn't leave feedback until they consider the order completed
thereby making the status of 'Completed' obsolete

There is a reason sellers might want to set an order to complete.

If you want to delete an old shipping method, you cannot if there is an open
order using that method

There's also NO reason to immediately delete a shipping method.

Simply disable it and forget it, delete it later on - it won't be shown in
your shop while disabled.

In short, there is still no reason a seller would set Completed an order

Sure there are work arounds to solve a problem. But if a seller wants to remove
a method, they cannot

We don't care.

The discussion is about: why a Seller would be able to set Completed.

Final argument being for me that this doesn't comply with the Completed status:

Sure there are work arounds to solve a problem. But if a seller wants to remove
a method, they cannot and are warned it is because there are open orders (even
if they are filed). Hence they can be tempted to complete ones that are already
months old.

There is also the issue that store wide minimum orders take into account any
disabled methods. So if you have multiple redundant methods that are disabled
you still have to edit every one of them if you want to raise the store minimum,
even though they cannot be used by a buyer. Of course, this is not the buyer's
fault (or care), just dodgy programming blocking changes.

It also seems strange that you cannot delete a shipping method while an order
is open, but you can change all the variable parameters in that method.

I ended up using BrickStore which is a free program that connects to Bricklink.
I download my orders and then sort by part number. Once I have this I go to the
Search in the Want List menu and search for that part. Then, I can compare the
numbers and update the have quantities.

Great move!

If you want to delete an old shipping method, you cannot if there is an open
order using that method, even if it was delivered months ago and feedback left.
Obviously you can disable the shipping method, change the name if it conflicts
with another name, set the minimum order value for that shipping method to 9999
if it conflicts with a change in the store minimum order value, but all that
is a faff just because someone hasn't marked an order as complete.

Like you mentioned you can simply choose disable and it will be off and then
in 6-months you can delete it. Plus that way your guaranteed not to potentially
cause issues to the buyer

I already found a way to add parts from an order to My Collection (using XML).
To avoid ordering the same part again, it would be helpful to see how many of
that part is already in my collection when building a Wanted List.

The "Have" box in the Wanted List is just valid for that list, and entered
one part by one, as far as I could see, so that doesn't help. I'm not
a seller, so I just want to use My Collection to track what I already have and
use it to build new Wanted lists.

Thanks,

M

That could work but I would still have to manually go through them. I use the

be in the list.

If this was common buyer behaviour because a tool allows it, sellers would double
their prices and offer 50 % off on everything.

Some already do that type of thing, and advertise fake sales in the forum.

I have seen a lot of sellers offer multiple different discounts. It would be
nice to have a filter that you can choose the discounts you want to see instead
of just all sales. Like if a shop has different sale percentages at 10, 25, 30,
50 and 75 percent off you could filter for everything above 50%.

I think if we had it you would come to see it was useless. If you were choosing
between Walmart, Target, or TRU, it would be useful, but different shops on Bricklink
routinely list things 3-4 times as much as other stores and those tend to be
the ones running sales. You can’t get much of an idea where you will get the
lowest prices by sorting by sale %.

could support their favorite content creators and not have acess to their adress,
friends that are not on the adress sharing level can also do that, members of
family can have a way easier time finding something you actually want without
the hassle of looking for it and packing and sending it. It would be a really

Voted no, because of the idea of supporting content creators. This would be abused
from both sides. The buyer has no idea if the seller sends the item. Similarly,
there is no eller protection as the buyer asks for it to be sent to a different
address to their payment address.

it will take you to the "problem with item for sale" section, bring with it the
lot number from the item and when you have submitted the item, have a button
to bring you right back to where you left off so you can finish shopping.

Too often things do not get reported due to the current reporting process. A
one click reporting button with a simple return to previous page button would
be wonderful.

If they implement this suggestion, then they would have fulfilled this year's
quota and they wouldn't need to implement another until next year!

I don't think that's really necessary - once it's "Shipped"
it's "seller complete".

It's terrible because the seller can NOT tell contents' been verified
and the buyer thinks the order is completed.

In a more generic reply, sellers should take care of their inventory, purchase
packaging, review prices, clean terms, make an attractive but sincere shop, prepare
accounting for IRS... whatever ELSE than taking care of the buyers or what's
the status of their orders.

Well put. And as to the question of why is it allowed, it could be for any number
of reasons, an accident, old feature/rules, poorly implemented, etc. it’s not
like bricklink is bug free and everything is perfect. Most things on Bricklink
have slight quirks at the very least

As a side note I wonder whether status should auto set to complete once buyer
has left feedback or certainly after both buyer and seller have left feedback

Then is this functionality enabled? I have posted this question many times on
the forum and no one has posted an answer. So, here we go again:

If a seller should "never" mark an order as complete, then why does BL
allow it?

Even if the buyer says they got their order and are happy it still is no reason
then up to the seller to mark it as complete. Those orders would then just fall
into the same category as the other ~50% of orders that would be in the exact
same circumstance aside for the message. And on the flip side letting the seller
mark it as complete can make things much more difficult for buyers.

But a seller *is* allowed to mark an order as complete. Why is it allowed if
it's so terrible?

  Just like
a buyer can’t change the order status from paid to shipped the seller should
not be allowed to change it from shipped to completed.

I really don't see the big deal. Every order has a buyer and a seller, and
if the seller feels the order is complete they have the ability to mark it as
complete. The buyer can always change it back.

Ideally there would be two types of Complete in the pulldown, one for "Seller
- Complete" and the other "Buyer - Complete".

This is even easier: no (he shouldn't).

It's not your business.

You're a seller, you ship what you've been ordered for.

If there's a problem in the end, you'll be informed.

Otherwise you leave the buyer alone; we've concerns for Privacy here.

But you keep trying... it continues to be fun

Even chatGPT knows better:

"Updated" simply means that some changes or modifications have been made
to a particular piece of information, product, or service. It indicates that
the information has been refreshed or modified in some way, which could include
corrections, additions, or enhancements.

However, "updated" does not necessarily imply that the information is
not outdated. In other words, while updates may have been applied, it's possible
that those updates are insufficient to bring the information completely up-to-date,
especially if significant changes have occurred since the last update.

Therefore, it's crucial to understand that while updates are important for
maintaining accuracy and relevance, they may not always guarantee that the information
is completely current or not outdated. Users should exercise caution and consider
other factors such as the date of the last update, the pace of change in the
relevant industry or market, and any additional sources of information available.

Again, in 2024, a buyer should'nt have to click "I received my order,
how lucky I am!"
Etc.

Rather not, Milissa.

There are fairly common scenarios in which a seller might consider setting a
sent order status to “Completed” Just a few…

1) Buyer leaves positive feedback, but doesn’t change the order status from “Shipped”

Just file it.

  2) Buyer messages seller, thanking and/or offering praise of service or product
without changing the status.

Just file it.

  3) Buyer and seller are in communication over an order issue, which concludes
with the buyer expressing to the seller, their complete satisfaction with the
transaction. Here, the seller might not wish to task the already tasked buyer
further, by asking them to change the status and rather takes care it themself.

Just file it.

There are a good many LEGO fans that simply don’t know, don’t care, or don’t
care to know about order status 'duties’ and just wanna buy LEGO, that’s
it. Which is fine. The changing of order status by the seller simply helps a
vendor clean things up a bit, to stay organized. I does for me anyway.

The only order duty a buyer has is to pay. After that is the seller shipping
it and nothing else, as a commerce platform there is no further need to
do anything else.

What part of this explicit statement of mine...

“There are a good many LEGO fans that simply don’t know, don’t care, or
don’t care to know about order status 'duties’ and just wanna buy LEGO, that’s

... does not align with the sentiment of your reply, or are you just repeating
back in argumentative form, what’s been expressed? The latter does not advance
discussion

My attitude is relatively the same as yours and Milissa's, never really cared
if my buyers used the status change, not as much as is occasionally expressed
in forum by others. Just rather keep the seller ability in place, is all.

As to order status ‘duties’ and importance: None "need" as you
say, fulfill those. But it is a significant form of communications within a transaction,
helpful to both parties. Otherwise, why bother having the ability for both buyer
and seller.

And let's substitute the term "duties" with tasks, if that
facilitates better understand: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1138

Opening sentence: "Buyer and Seller each have tasks to complete
during the lifetime of an order"

Under Buyer "Change Order Status to Completed - Change the Order
Status Received when you have received your package (but have not yet verified
its contents or there is a problem). When you verify the contents of your package
and consider the order completed, change the order status Completed"

I've always maintained that I personally don't care if my buyers fulfill
their task, not really, and will gladly handle it when needed.

Thanks to Cory, I reread the Help:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=41&q=status

... which says:

Received - Package has been received but the buyer has not yet verified the contents
on the package.

Completed - Package received, contents verified, the order is completed.

So there is no way the seller could decide that the package is received (as tracking
isn't truth like map isn't territory), and / or the order had been verified
by the buyer, and the buyer to agree the order is completed.

In short, as per BrickLink Help it shouldn't be technically allowed for a
seller to change this.

Implementing this would just, in fact, correspond to the terms of the Help /
guidelines / terms of BrickLink.

Or change the BrickLink Help page.

YES - same for Received. Tracking doesn't mean actually received.

One of those sellers is MIA, and has not changed the cart status from "paid",

So today, I decide to create another wishlist and add those items again.
This split down into two carts.
Since Easter is Sunday, I messaged the sellers directly, pre-purchase, to inquire
about expedited shipping methods, and if they were able to physically fulfill
the order on such short notice.
While corresponding with two separate sellers; I tried to reply, and was told
"Oops, you have exceeded your message limit.".

This created a "frantic" situation for me; as I was already against the
clock. I had to figure out how to message them off-site, and finish my pre-purchase
conversations.

I understand bots and reasons for security measures.
But it feels this ones a little too tight, as I had already made 23 purchases
before this happened.

There are two issues that keep getting voiced here in 'Suggestions':

- Nobody actually uses 'easy buy' because you can't select Country
/ region.

- You can't save a default location on 'Items for sale' tab.

Thank you so very much!
I took a lot of inspiration from fellow lego enthusiasts via YouTube.
Lol.. I knew when I was watching a video of a 9 year old showing me how to put
together a miniature lawnmower (at about 3am)... I had reached an entirely new
level of Lego-nerdiness

I'll certainly post more as the project completes.
Be well and thanks again!

Super amazing software. As a cad/cam engineer and software developer myself,
it was a delight!

So, my house has over 8,000 pieces, which resulted in numerous orders through
BrickLink.
After placing over 20 orders, I receive multiple emails.
One from Bricklink for each purchase.
One from PayPal for each purchase.
Another from BrickLink once the order has shipped.
Another from PayPal once the order has shipped.

Each of these emails use various names, or email address, or store names.
It's confusing to identify which email goes with which order.
I often find myself scrolling through emails, looking for a store username, so
I can match it to my BrickLink orders page.

MY SUGGESTION:

Please add the sellers store name (perhaps under the username?) on the buyers
orders page.
This would seriously help with identifying which order goes with which email,
without having to physically click into each order, and find the store name.

Alternatively, if maintaining a single row on the orders page is preferred, could
we maybe add the store name as a "hover" when mousing over the store
username?

Thank you for the consideration.

My apologies.
I just saw the last bit about seeing the house.
That's really awesome that you asked!
I haven't shown anyone yet, so you're the first

I still need...
1) Extend the back yard.. we had over 4 acres, and I'd like to make the wooded
area.
2) Add a street along the front of the house. We played on that street all the
time.
3) Put the entire model on raised plates that can be joined together in sections.
4) Add the roof, chimney, etc.
5) put all the branches and leaves on the tree, but I wanted to leave that until
last. I have nightmares of the trees breaking apart while trying to redesign
the model onto baseplates.. lol.

That looks Awesome! Really nice job, be sure to post pictures of the completed

Look up the piece you want, I'll just randomly pick 4073

Below the image of the piece (and related items) are a few tabs.

Click the left one (items for sale).

Click more options below that on the right.

Click "seller location": USA.

I'm not sure if you can limit that in your settings, but I know you can when
you use the right tab under "price guide". As I store I set that up
so I can quickly go check my prices against everyone else and raise or lower
prices based on other US based stores.

Hello Developer Team,

prior to my request I want to thank you all for your great website! I use it
really a lot to manage my Lego collection.

My request:
i have a wanted list for each of my uncomplete set. The lists are named in a
certain pattern. There are some generic wanted lists as well which i prefix with
an exclamation mark.
When adding an item I need to select the wanted list. It would be nice to have
a setting for the sort order of the wanted lists in the add dialog. Currently
it seems it is sorted by id, it would also be great by name or other properties.

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Gerald

Agree, an "alert" topic where copies of the "fake" messages can
be safely posted to minimize there effectiveness.

I also must add that we lost 2 days worth of sales just a few days ago because
we got caught by a scammer changed a bunch of our settings and listed a few "Too

I am grateful admin shut our page down when they caught it before we did. But
we were able to make the needed changes and were back up pretty quick. Still
a pain in the a$$.

Something like that's gotta be a pain. Well done, Admin.

I agree this really ought to be up there as one of Bricklink's priority fixes
as I wonder how many sellers have replied not realizing their reply had gone
to the BL email leaving the buyer thinking they had been ignored. I wonder how
many lost sales opportunities and what overall negative impact this may have
caused to the way buyers perceive Bricklink and its sellers!

Years ago when you would reply to a Bricklink email from a member, it would already
have the member's email address set up as the one for replies. I have no
idea why they changed it. It's like it's fun for them to break working
features and then just leave them broken.

And perhaps with a feature that no posts can be canceled aside from by an admin?
That way if both people are in the same account fighting then they can’t keep

Interesting point. Thanks
