So I sold a set from my personal collection. Been sitting on a shelf for years
and I disassembled and inventoried it before listing.

I hear from the buyer a week after shipping about how the set is horribly damaged
and parts not even fitting together. They are terribly disappointed and want
their money back. I know that not to be the case, but I send a label for return
shipping and will refund once received. It's just a Creator set, so no minifigs
or rare parts to worry about being swapped.

I get the set back, and it's obvious it was never even opened. All parts
in the separate bags I used. I'm pretty sure the box was still sealed with
my packing tape.

I refunded the purchase anyway. Sucks I'm out $25 for the shipping both ways,
but you have this occasionally. Is rather they had just been honest about having
buyer's remorse.

You were not obliged to pay for return shipping. I wouldn't pay it.

To where problems arrised, mainly?

How do you ship? Tracked? Insured? Bad shipper change shipper?

Do you prefer to lose 100% (not exporting) or lose part of it? Did you calculate
this?

Two right now (today). UK and Belgium.

Tracked, arrived but either refused or just lying. Cannot tell yet but I have
two angry contacts. One is saying "they are not stupid and they will not
pay VAT"

Was the order over 135 GBP or did BL collect the VAT (in this case, did you attach
the invoice so that the buyer won't need to pay VAT for the second time?)

the other I have no idea. He may have got it, may have not. He
is all over the place. Either way I am looking to cut off overseas for awhile
to see if that stops this. We are taking hit after hit after hit on the overseas.

One guy refused due to VAT
Another said he did not get his package when the track clearly says it was delivered.

No clue.

We have had around 10 of these in the past 3 months.

out of how many?

Maybe it is time to just go domestic?

Your thoughts?

My single oversea problem: The guy said the package (value $300) was lost, meaning
it was not in the post office indicated on the notice and tracking. He did not
communicate to me. The package got returned (destroyed) and I reply: Why didn't
you contact me on time so I contact the courier. Now there is nothing I can do
because the package is returned and will be destroyed. I cannot request refund
from the courier (a Canadian one) because the tracking says the package was not
collected by reciepant. His answer: no worries. This is not your fault. I just
wanted to inform you. I will request refund from our own post service and I did
not hear back from him as he did not want a refund anyway.

With what courier do you ship?

USPS. I did not count all of the overseas but I am going to guess that in that
time period we shipped around 80 packages overseas. So 10 out of 80. Domestic
200-300 and 0 lost packages.

Have you considered to ship with pirateships.com ? You may get a different result
(if they don't ship with USPS)

I understood your messages no problem. Curious what the reply was (and if they're
a seasoned collector or someone newer, as perhaps it explains the misunderstanding)

Great you understood. So to confirm, having read my responses, would you look
for these two boxes?

***Communications in French***

I think I'm just banging my head against a wall.

I have regular communication with a nice buyer and collector. He wrote me:

Bonjour [name]. Avez vous deja vu les boites 118-2 et 118-3 ??? Merci [his
name]

I answered:

...

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/kraft-lego-mini-wheel-set-dump-soda-1824610533

His response:

Bonjour [name]. Avez vous deja vu une boite occasion du 118-2 et 118-3 ??
Car moi jamais.

My response:

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/kraft-lego-mini-wheel-set-dump-soda-1824610533

At this point, I am convinced either I did't explaing things properly or
I'm just banging my head against a wall.

Now, those who know French, please tell me if you were initially looking for
boxes of these two sets, what would you have understood from my responses and
if you would continue looking to find the boxes? What would you have answered
me after my two responses.

I should have read the comments/feedback before buying from this one seller.
He left me a negative feedback after I left him a neutral one. Most of the comments

very belligerent. Why does Bricklink still allow him to have a store

On bricklink, neutral feedback is almost the same as a negative one.

This store has received so far:
951 pos. feedbacks
7 neutral feedbacks
4 negative feedbacks

You left
279 pos. feedbacks
8 neutral feedbacks
2 negative feedbacks

If we calculate the ratio of positive feedbacks over total feedbacks, who should
be banned?!
Checking his feedbacks, it seems to me the problems of buyers were minor.

As for why you are upset, you left neutral feedback for several sellers because
you found that there were not enough number of baggies. This leaves a question:
why don't you ask a seller to use many baggies (and express your willingness
to pay for the cost) or even ask this before you place your order? This simple
step seem to resolve this in a simple manner.

Oh wow, I didn't even look at the OP's. Dollars to doughnuts they're
going to see their "members who have stoplisted you" number climb over
the next few days.

Yes dear Gambit57! Having written this threat, you opened yourself to being stoplisted
by potentially many sellers. Also, any seller who check your feedback history
(those high number of neutral and neg. feedbacks you left), might consider to
stoplist you. Forgetting about this, why do you need neutral fb to stores for
just this minor reason (that you could have requested beforehand)? Feedback should
help to distinguish professional sellers from bad ones. You leaving so many bad
feedbacks make good ones look bad, and disappoint them while they have done everything
correctly.
You can go to your "My activity" and check how many people have already
stoplisted you

I recommend you to:
- retract your neutral feedback via this link:
https://www.bricklink.com/feedbackDel.asp

and replace it with a positive one.

- contact the seller and explain you wrote on the forum and learnt you were wrong
so you removed your feedback and replaced it with a good one. I would say "my
apologies" and request them to remove their neg. feedback too. I think they
would do that.
- I would even recommend you to contact Bricklink's help desk and request
them to remove all the bad feedbacks you left for the number of baggies they
used.

It’s referring to a bank/paypal claim. If an order never arrives and the seller
dosnt refund the buyer then the buyer can file a claim with their bank or with
PayPal who will then refund the payment.

Ah ok, I understand. Has this ever happened to one of you guys? If one is unlucky
and a package gets lost in transit, is it right to just take the loss as a seller
if this situation occurs, or should one try to get PayPal to refund the payment?

The odd package will sometimes go missing or buyer falsely claims to go missing
but its very rare on Bricklink compared to other platforms.

Whilst it may be wise to insure high value orders I wouldn't be overly concerned
with regular orders because even if you are so unlucky to find 1 in every 10
orders goes missing (it will actually be far, far less than this)

If you do the maths and lets say each order averages $10 in value. 10 orders
= $100 in total sales revenue. One missing order drops that total sales revenue
down to $90 split across 10 orders = receiving around $9 per order instead of
$10 per order so in reality its not going to hurt you as much as you think.

Obviously I've not taken into consideration any actual profits/cost of stock
and any added costs to ship out replacements etc, etc... but the fact that we're
actually probably talking about less than 1 in 100 orders going missing more
than covers any losses you may incur

Alright, thank you very much for a really good explanation! Good to know that
it's such a rare occurrence.

Mind if I ask you how long it took before you got your first sale on Bricklink?

12 days and 5 hours and about 33 minutes since you open your store. Any other
question?!

More seriously, i would recommend to:
- start selling only within your country mean lwhile learn about paypal seller
protection, brickink (nbs, nas,…),
- study the terms of established seller in your country, their shipping method
and policy,…
- find rare parts or sets from your local marketplace or huge lots on auction
sites. Make sure you can sell them and have a good profit. If something is rare
and wanted and peice is ok, people buy it from you.
- keep listing. More items you bave, more you sell.
- make. Sure you know everything very well. It personally took me over one year
to learn things, the prices of market, what is rare, how bricklink qnd paypal
works, good packing, how to help buyers,.. (reading in my spare time) and after
i opened a store.
- once you gain confidence, you can sell to europe and then the whole world (
except one country 😕)
