I have seen quite the spike in "we did not get our package" things.

One guy refused due to VAT
Another said he did not get his package when the track clearly says it was delivered.

No clue.

We have had around 10 of these in the past 3 months.

out of how many?

Maybe it is time to just go domestic?

Your thoughts?

My single oversea problem: The guy said the package (value $300) was lost, meaning
it was not in the post office indicated on the notice and tracking. He did not
communicate to me. The package got returned (destroyed) and I reply: Why didn't
you contact me on time so I contact the courier. Now there is nothing I can do
because the package is returned and will be destroyed. I cannot request refund
from the courier (a Canadian one) because the tracking says the package was not
collected by reciepant. His answer: no worries. This is not your fault. I just
wanted to inform you. I will request refund from our own post service and I did
not hear back from him as he did not want a refund anyway.

With what courier do you ship?

I understood your messages no problem. Curious what the reply was (and if they're

Great you understood. So to confirm, having read my responses, would you look

***Communications in French***

I think I'm just banging my head against a wall.

I have regular communication with a nice buyer and collector. He wrote me:

Bonjour [name]. Avez vous deja vu les boites 118-2 et 118-3 ??? Merci [his
name]

I answered:

...
Set 118-3: c'est un set vendu par Sears. Je crois qu'il n'a pas de
boite. Par example, il est possibelemtn etre vendu comme ce set:

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/kraft-lego-mini-wheel-set-dump-soda-1824610533

Set 118-2: j'ai aucune idee comment il ont trouve 118-2. Je le vois dans
aucun catalog. Ca peut etre une faute. La photo de sa boite sur bricklink est
exactement celle de set 111.

Bien a vous

His response:

Bonjour [name]. Avez vous deja vu une boite occasion du 118-2 et 118-3 ??
Car moi jamais. Connaissez vous quelqu’un qui en a une ??

My response:

Set 118-3: c'est un set vendu par Sears. Je crois qu'il n'a pas
de boite. Par example, il est possibelemtn etre vendu comme ce set:

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/kraft-lego-mini-wheel-set-dump-soda-1824610533

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/kraft-lego-mini-wheel-set-dump-soda-1824610533
Donc, comme la boite de set 118-3 n'exist pas, personne ne 'a vu, personne
ne l'a et il n'y a pas de photo de la boite ne plus car on peut pas prendre
une photo de quelque chose qui n'a jamais existe 🙂

At this point, I am convinced either I did't explaing things properly or
I'm just banging my head against a wall.

Now, those who know French, please tell me if you were initially looking for
boxes of these two sets, what would you have understood from my responses and
if you would continue looking to find the boxes? What would you have answered
me after my two responses.

Once, a few of you French guys kindly reply to this, I write what his third message
was!

He left me a negative feedback after I left him a neutral one. Most of the comments

stuffing over 100 in two snack sized baggies. I tried talking to him but he is
very belligerent. Why does Bricklink still allow him to have a store

On bricklink, neutral feedback is almost the same as a negative one.

This store has received so far:
951 pos. feedbacks
7 neutral feedbacks
4 negative feedbacks

You left
279 pos. feedbacks
8 neutral feedbacks
2 negative feedbacks

If we calculate the ratio of positive feedbacks over total feedbacks, who should
be banned?!
Checking his feedbacks, it seems to me the problems of buyers were minor.

As for why you are upset, you left neutral feedback for several sellers because
you found that there were not enough number of baggies. This leaves a question:
why don't you ask a seller to use many baggies (and express your willingness
to pay for the cost) or even ask this before you place your order? This simple
step seem to resolve this in a simple manner.

Oh wow, I didn't even look at the OP's. Dollars to doughnuts they're
going to see their "members who have stoplisted you" number climb over
the next few days.

Yes dear Gambit57! Having written this threat, you opened yourself to being stoplisted
by potentially many sellers. Also, any seller who check your feedback history
(those high number of neutral and neg. feedbacks you left), might consider to
stoplist you. Forgetting about this, why do you need neutral fb to stores for
just this minor reason (that you could have requested beforehand)? Feedback should
help to distinguish professional sellers from bad ones. You leaving so many bad
feedbacks make good ones look bad, and disappoint them while they have done everything
correctly.
You can go to your "My activity" and check how many people have already
stoplisted you

I recommend you to:
- retract your neutral feedback via this link:
https://www.bricklink.com/feedbackDel.asp

and replace it with a positive one.

- contact the seller and explain you wrote on the forum and learnt you were wrong
so you removed your feedback and replaced it with a good one. I would say "my
apologies" and request them to remove their neg. feedback too. I think they
would do that.
- I would even recommend you to contact Bricklink's help desk and request
them to remove all the bad feedbacks you left for the number of baggies they
used.

It’s referring to a bank/paypal claim. If an order never arrives and the seller

PayPal who will then refund the payment.

Ah ok, I understand. Has this ever happened to one of you guys? If one is unlucky
and a package gets lost in transit, is it right to just take the loss as a seller
if this situation occurs, or should one try to get PayPal to refund the payment?

The odd package will sometimes go missing or buyer falsely claims to go missing
but its very rare on Bricklink compared to other platforms.

Whilst it may be wise to insure high value orders I wouldn't be overly concerned
with regular orders because even if you are so unlucky to find 1 in every 10
orders goes missing (it will actually be far, far less than this)

If you do the maths and lets say each order averages $10 in value. 10 orders
= $100 in total sales revenue. One missing order drops that total sales revenue
down to $90 split across 10 orders = receiving around $9 per order instead of
$10 per order so in reality its not going to hurt you as much as you think.

Obviously I've not taken into consideration any actual profits/cost of stock
and any added costs to ship out replacements etc, etc... but the fact that we're
actually probably talking about less than 1 in 100 orders going missing more
than covers any losses you may incur

Alright, thank you very much for a really good explanation! Good to know that
it's such a rare occurrence.

Mind if I ask you how long it took before you got your first sale on Bricklink?

12 days and 5 hours and about 33 minutes since you open your store. Any other
question?!

More seriously, i would recommend to:
- start selling only within your country mean lwhile learn about paypal seller
protection, brickink (nbs, nas,…),
- study the terms of established seller in your country, their shipping method
and policy,…
- find rare parts or sets from your local marketplace or huge lots on auction
sites. Make sure you can sell them and have a good profit. If something is rare
and wanted and peice is ok, people buy it from you.
- keep listing. More items you bave, more you sell.
- make. Sure you know everything very well. It personally took me over one year
to learn things, the prices of market, what is rare, how bricklink qnd paypal
works, good packing, how to help buyers,.. (reading in my spare time) and after
i opened a store.
- once you gain confidence, you can sell to europe and then the whole world (
except one country 😕)

What is the catalog inside your box? I wonder if it is from 1984 (most likely)
or 1985 (possible but less likely).

Yes. I bought several of these new. To save space, I took the sealed baggies
out of the boxes and put them into a zip lock bag. Several years ago I started
going through my stored collection and found the zip lock bag. I took photos
of the sealed baggies before I opened them and listed the pieces for sale. The
193b2 helmets I have for sale in my shop came from these sets. I do know that
I did not buy these when the set was first released, so maybe the helmet was
changed in subsequent production runs.

Apologies for the delay. I spent some time over the weekend trying to find the
photos I took back then but came up empty.

Can I assume you sets came with

Part No: 4276a Name: Hinge Plate 1 x 2 with 2 Fingers on End - Solid Studs

4276a Hinge Plate 1 x 2 with 2 Fingers on End - Solid Studs

4275a Hinge Plate 1 x 2 with 3 Fingers on End - Solid Studs

(from 1984)

and not with

*
4275b Hinge Plate 1 x 2 with 3 Fingers on End - Hollow Studs
Parts: Hinge {Red}

(from 1985ish-...)

I am pretty sure you can find this out through what you sold or have for sale
(I see you have 5 red 4275a for sale, assuming they are correctly 4275a and not
4275b)

Were they sealed? I just opened a sealed one and have a thin chin strap, which

I observe that some parts are regularly offered for exorbitant prices when there
is actually no reason for this.

Take for example this part

Part No: 19730 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Rectangular (Minecraft)
*
19730 Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Rectangular (Minecraft)
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear {Pearl Gold}

This was previously only available in set

Set No: 21127 Name: The Fortress
*
21127-1 (Inv) The Fortress
959 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2016
Sets: Minecraft
and

Set No: 21137 Name: The Mountain Cave
*
21137-1 (Inv) The Mountain Cave
2822 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2017
Sets: Minecraft

These sets were limited in number and are much sought after.

Since 2024, a new set

Set No: 21252 Name: The Armory
*
21252-1 (Inv) The Armory
196 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2023
Sets: Minecraft
has been available that contains this part.
It can be purchased in any LEGO store or reseller. But I still see that every
new seller of this part bases their price on the original price when this part
was still rare.

This it totally nuts imo.

I'm thinking of parting out 10 sets containing this part and pricing them
at around 50 cents to change the price guide

This thought is also crazy 😉

  which will force future sellers
of this item to sell this item cheaper.

To the sellers: do you also experience these kinds of crazy things?

More tims goes by, more items will be listed and price drops down on its own.
This is how things are working in the realm of economy. Today’s average sold
price in used condition is 13.95$ usd and in the last. 6 months, only 8 of them
are sold. The average price in new condition is 5.98 $ usd and
9 are sold. Lets wait a few months and see how it changes. ☺️

If you buy a few of them and list them, assuming you mange to control yourself
and list them for 50cents instead of $3 (i personally won’t control my desire
to gain a higher profit) you would just make changes to happen quicker.

on item listing pages you can now report the item for sale! when you click on
it, it brings you to the report item for sale page with the lot number already
filled out.

Now the question is. has this already been a feature for a long time and I never
noticed it or is it indeed a new feature?

It is a new feature! Great discovery! I just tested this new feature and reported
126 of your own listings,... those including or related to the horrific word
Pizza.

Hey, I've got an brilliant idea!

We should report and make cancelled every post that have the word pizza in it!

uh oh

The best way to get rid of Pizza is to stop posting about this word!

Like this

That's quite a lot of drawers.
Do you store Lego inside your drawers or do you store drawers inside Lego?

usually the second option i love building lego boxes to store my
drawers!

whatever option you use, I hope you already know the meaning of DDP when you
ship with Stallion.

its delivery duty paid right?

what does it mean in practice? what happens?

basically, all costs in the shipping process go to the seller instead of the
buyer. I'm not sure why you specifically mentioned station tho as chit chats
and Canada post also have DDP

I saw it only on Stallion Express so far.

To make sure: if you ship a $700-order to a European country with "APC priority
worldwide track (DDP)" , what would happen then?

if the buyer was charged tax on delivery. lets go with 20% which seems to be
normal in Europe then you would be stuck with the $140 bill plus any other import/brokerage
fees. in my experience, this is usually charged in advance on the checkout screen
when buying the label based on the value you entered in the customs value field

I shipped in Nov. that order to Belgium. Since the value was above 150 Euro,
Bricklink did not collect anything. The buyer received the order and what I did
not know is that he was not charged anything. Two weeks ago, $155 CAD was deducted
from my balance on Stallion Express.

I then checked if I shipped any other order with this DDP option and found about
10 of them but apparently, import fees of those orders were already deducted
by BL and my documentation and submission of VAT number had worked. If one day
of a country like one of those Easter European country, somebody mess up and
they don't get the documentation of already-paid-VAT and decide to double
charge the buyer, then the seller (me and you) would be charged VAT.
I am now seeing all my orders to Australia are shipped via "APC priority
worldwide track (DDP)" and if one day somebody, either Aust. Post or Australian custom office messes up, I would be charged the already-paid-import-Fees! Or I can ship the orders to Australia for $20 extra cost with the second cheapest option that is not DDP.

mhm, it can be a very not nice surprise

Had you thought about it?

fees. in my experience, this is usually charged in advance on the checkout screen
when buying the label based on the value you entered in the customs value field

Of course NO to all of this.

If a buyer receives a pile of beach sand, lesser items or not of the announced
quality ( eg: "New" ), then the NSS will NOT be removed.

Then either the buyer or the seller has, I guess, to bring proofs - like pictures.

In case nobody shows any proof of anything, I guess BrickLink transactions quantity
and Feedback history profiles may weight in the decision...

Or, as PayPal, BrickLink may favor the buyer if no proof can be provided.
I don't know.

All I know is that it must cost a lot in terms of human time and decision to
BrickLink.
Imagine half a million members, and 1/1000 having "some transaction problem"
every day?

Plus of course a ton of other problems not linked to a specific transaction...
Then you realize Help Desk can quickly be overloaded.

Thanks but this is for Admin_russel to clarify what he meant "if a buyer
receives the order, any NSS on that order is removed."

Of course, if the order is complete and correct any NSS should be removed. This
is obvious so I guess what can be implied but what he wrote is that even if the
package is not complete, any NSS would be removed. So what if it is not complete
like those three situations I mentioned?

I’m having a hard time with this, as I’ve been trying to buy some specific parts
missing from some sets and 2 times now, I’ve ordered specific parts, added on
a few others to meet the minimum buy for the seller and the seller sends me a
message AFTER shipping that they don’t have or can’t find the parts I actually
needed and still shipped the package. They provide a refund for the missing
parts, but those were the only reason I was buying in the first place.

Is that common business practice, to communicate after shipping that parts are
missing? Would this warrant less than positive feedback?

Newer member here, just seeking some help

As a seller, I never shipped if I find something missing, broken,... I let the
buyer know so they can make a decision. If they agree, I ship but I refund the
missing parts but I don't decrease shipping costs (unless if the package's
shipping costs turns to be lower than what It would have been with missing parts).

As a buyer, I leave a note:
"the part A and B,... are vital for this order. They are the reason I order.
Please do not ship if they are missing".

I always order from sellers with high feedback record. But this practice still
happen to me. Last time, I ordered 23 lots (41 parts) mostly minifig's parts.
The seller wrote me:

"Hi

Your order is packed. Unfortunately, there was a mistake in my inventory and
I'm missing 2 x blue 4275b therefore I refunded the parts to you.

I'm really sorry about that and hope you'll still have a good experience
with my store.

Have a nice day.

"

I was initially considering expressing my dissatisfaction, but instead, I decided
to use sarcasm:

Hi,

Thank you for letting me know about these missing bricks before you ship the
order. There are very few orders with top service like yours, who let buyers
know about missing parts before they ship.
Unfortunately, there are also many stores who just refund missing parts, leave
a message, and ship the rest of order. Those stores apparently don't care
at all that those few missing bricks could be the main/sole reason for the buyer
to submit the order and pay S&H and the other parts were added but they were
not necessary. I am glad you are not like one of those sellers.

There is no problem with these missing parts and they were not vital to my order.
You can go ahead and ship the order. Thanks again,

I do not understand Bricklink.

In Germany, but also in Europe, we have the so-called "right of withdrawal".
This also applies to all commercial dealers in Germany who sell on Bricklink.

I revoked a purchase contract, sent the goods back and was immediately refunded
the money by the retailer via the original payment method (Paypal).

The retailer has now opened a "Non-Paying Buyer Alert".

I don't understand the system here, are you penalized on Bricklink and banned
after the third revocation?
Is this platform not adapted to European law?
Can you please explain to me whether I am misunderstanding this or how it works
here on Bricklink works?

Bricklink Quote:
(Non-Paying Buyer alert has been initiated for order #xxxxon
If payment is not initiated, the seller (xxx) will have an option to cancel the
order which will result in the following consequence for the buyer (xxx):

* 1 cancelled order - Warning
* 2 cancelled orders - Warning
* 3 cancelled orders - Buyer privileges permanently revoked )

Since you originally paid for the order, the NPB has been removed.

This is the same case with a seller - if a buyer receives the order, any NSS
on that order is removed.

If a buyer ordered 10 lots and received a package filled with wrapped paper(tracking

Either party has the ability to leave feedback in these cases if they are unhappy
with the order.

Sorry for not posting pictures from the start. Posting a couple of pictures of

- The white 2x4 brick has "lego" on top of it, but theres no part number
on the bottom, just a single number "5".

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2505

   - The green 6x6 tile has no "lego" logo on it (not on the front and
not on the bottom). On the bottom side there is only a single number "11".

Any ideas are these 2 parts Lego?

In Problem Order, Seph6 writes:
The three options were to return everything for a full refund

You paid via PayPal and this is how PayPal works: You receive your item. You
think (either correctly or not) that it is not as described. Like one item
is wrong or you bought Lego and you received a package full of scrapped paper.
You file a claim with PayPal. Then the seller can accept return. This means you
have to pay return shipping from your own pocket and once (and only if) the seller
receives the returning package, you will get a refund. You will be out the return
shipping costs and the seller will be out the sending shipping costs (the one
from Australia to Brazil).
You can file a PayPal claim but this is what you would get. If a buyer file a
PayPal claim against me, I would accept the outcome as accept return shipping
and would not continue to give other options to buyer. That would be the end
of story/resolution.

  and I have to prove
that I paid taxes,

To whom you should prove this and why would you need to prove this?!!

or to return just the wrong minifigure, or to accept 10 US
dollars as compensation.
My problem is that he wasn't flexible,

Hi is showing some flexibility. He gave these three options.
Correct or not, many sellers just refund the cost of item and perhaps part of
shipping costs. Is that like $10 that he is willing to pay?

as he was the one who made the mistake,
I think he could have asked what I wanted to do.

I'll tell you how I wanted to resolve this, I wanted the price of the head
plus shipping price. My purchase was two minifigs, the wrong one was about 60%
of the total purchase. I already ordered the head,

The seller is not responsible for your other purchases. Even mentioning this
to seller is wrong and in my opinion somehow unethical. He has nothing to do
with your other purchase and is not by any means responsible to what you paid
to the other seller.
If this is not clear why. Let me explain: as an example, assume you buy two items
for $100 from one seller and they end up being wrong. Then you ordered them separately
from two other sellers and it costs you in total $150. Then, would you contact
the seller and ask for $150 refund?! Is there any shop in the world who would
refund you your whole payment, i.e. $100, and give you $50 on top of that?!

it cost a total of 19 dollars
(and this amount should not include taxes). My order for it cost 85, plus about
another 85 with tax.

You paid import taxes to your government and not to the seller. He is not responsible
for what you paid for taxes. For example, if you return and get a full refund
from the seller, then you should show prove of refund to your government to get
your paid import taxes refunded.
The import taxes you paid is high but this is not seller's fault. He ships
to many countries and their import fees. Other marketplaces like Ebay, Amazon,...
don't refund import fees (unless if they collect import fees themselves.
Ebay.com collects import fees but not ebay.ca)

If the seller gives you partial refund, then I think you can get a partial refund
of your paid import taxes. In Canada, we have to mail documents to get a refund.
In Canada, the import fees (if processed by CanadaPost) are %12 (excluding shipping
costs) plus $9.95 CAD. So if I paid $100, my taxes would be 12+9.95 = 21.95 and
if I get $20 partial refund, I can pay $0.95 to send documents in a letter and
get a partial refund of 20* 0.12 = $2.4 Cad. If I return the whole order and
get $100 refund, I would only get $12 refunded to me. The handing fees $9.95
are not to be refunded.

He would have to pay me 170 dollars, in perspective,

As explained, he would have to pay you $170. You have to pay shipping costs to
return the product, and PayPal would then give you a whole refund of your initial
payment: $85

  19
isn't it
so much, or is it?

When it comes to your NSS, seller can show that the outcome of PayPal claim,
whatever it is, and bricklink would close the NSS in favor of seller. Bricklink
has clearly explained that they would do so. You would only waste the seller's
time to submit documents and that of Bricklink's help desk.

You don't seem unreasonable but here there are many aspects I can talk about,
based on my
own buying and selling experience. But that may talk 30 minutes to explain them
and much more to write them down

Some random notes:
- many people may somehow disagree with what I write here but I know many well-established
stores who only give partial refund for their mistakes (cost of the head plus
part of shipping costs). Many good sellers don't ship to Brazil because of
its high risk. Don't tell there is no high risk as you already expect your
import taxes refunded and the shipping costs were high
Many sellers don't ship abroad for this reason.
So there is a high risk the buyer may be unsatisfied if a mistake occurs.
I personally get stressed if I receive an order from Brazil and would want to
make sure what I send is 100% correct by triple checking everything.
- there is a learning curve in buying. When I submit an order from abroad consisting
of multiple items , I write to seller something like: "Hello,... Item X
and Y are vital for my order. Could you please double check them before sending?"
or "Item X has two variations. I ordered variation X1. Since many sellers
confused them in my past orders, would you mind to send me a photo to make sure
what you will send is what I expect... Thanks".
In your case, you could have written "would you mind to send me a photo of
the two minifigs. I think it is better to make sure they are correct because
the shipping costs are high and the import fees will be about the total cost."
And I would expect photos for only vital parts in an order, not for common parts.

Recently, I ordered a few parts from a good seller in UK. I wrote him/her something
like "this part is vital, the single reason I am ordering. Please make sure
you have it and it is in good condition". The order came and the part was
correct but 2 lots (out of 8lots and in total less than 20 pieces) were missing
or incomplete and one of them was a rare part that I needed to. I wrote him/her
and got only a partial refund for that. No refund for shipping costs. I was 100%
satisfied and left a positive feedback.

- as it comes to your negative feedback, one thing to have in mind: if you leave
many negative/neutral feedbacks, other sellers can see what you have left and
may thing you are a high risk buyer and stop-list you.
- many mistakes can happen in listing, picking-up, and shipping an order. Mistakes
may happen often. As to confirm this, maybe 100-200 people read your thread and
one of them had made the same exact mistake (but found out and corrected before
shipping). If a seller give you the refund you expect, he would keep losing money
and guess what? It won't be able to continue selling or has to increase prices,
remove certain countries or all international shipping, to reduce his/her risk.

My suggestion:
- I would accept the refund of the head + part of shipping costs (is that like
$10?). Remove the NSS and retract that negative feedback. This would be a simple
solution for a small matter and I think you won't get anything better via
PayPal/NSS but only waste your and his time.

Hopefully you can buy this head from another seller (along with other parts)
in future.

Pamela

If the buyer claims they did not receive the order, you as the sender should
file a claim with the post office (at least that's how it works in Austria,
I assume in Italy it's similar). They should then show you a proof of delivery
or refund the value of the package to you. That probably means hours in "customer
service" phone lines and waiting for weeks for replies, but if it's a
valuable package...

They already said that the tracking indicates it has been delivered. The mail
provider won't refund when they say they have delivered it.

False! I wrote my experience with CanadaPost:

And you think the Italian post service will do the same?

Having lived one year in Italy, I say un-imaginable is imaginable there

they have at least 10 points.

This is obviously incorrect for many reasons.
It also makes the new users powerless and leaves room for bad sellers to rreat
newbies anyway they want.

I didn't mention new BUYERS, I said new USERS.

A user can be a buyer or a seller. A user is a human being at the end of the
day. When a user buys, he is a buyer.
If you replace user by buyer in "It also makes the new user powerless and
leaves room for bad sellers to treat newbies anyway they want.", you get
"It also makes the new buyer powerless and leaves room for bad sellers to
treat newbies anyway they want." but there is no difference in the meaning
of what I wrote.

The fact you already side on the sellers it's strange to me.

Do you mean buyers or sellers?

The fact that I discuss my opinion with you but instead, you write "The fact
you already side on the sellers it's strange to me" is also strange to
me. If you want me just agree with you and say "your idea is the best one",
let me know and I comment "your idea/suggestion is the best one" to all
your future comments on the forum
Otherwise, the following is my opinion:
The main goal of feedback is not to make good reliable sellers feel good by creating
a situation they never receive any bad feedback and get 100%. The main goal is
to give a mean to distinguish between good and bad sellers.
If you don't let new users to leave feedback, then some sellers don't
even feel they need to care about new users and ignore their messages about missing/broken
parts,... because those new buyers won't be able to leave any feedback. This
makes these users to run away from BL.
Also if new users (or new buyers if you prefer) don't leave any feedback,
then there won't be any difference between you and bad sellers when it comes
to interaction with newbies.

Is there any website in which they don't let newbies to leave any feedback
until they reach a certain point?!

As long as there is feedback, there will be some unfair feedbacks too. That will
happen randomly to sellers. More a seller sells, you more likely it happens.

Same here. It's a big power to leave a negative before even knowing how the

By the way, tone of the teo neutrals i reaced is from a guy with over 200 positive

  Hello,

I ask for your help because I am stuck in a grotesque situation.

A person who just signed up to bricklink was unable to read the description for
item 5306bc069
Black Electric, Wire with Brick 2 x 2 x 2/3 Pair, 69 Studs

He said that since it's depicted as "PAIR" I should have sent two.
He left me a negative feedback and expected me to send a second for free.

I tried to explain that he was totally wrong and that you do not leave a hasty
feedback this way, to no avail.

So I wrote to BL for feedback removal, and they denied it.
The user wanted me to refund, so I asked him to send me the part, and I would
have refunded him.

He shipped, and in the proof of shipping I saw that he mispelled my surname,
thus when the package came, the postman found no one with the misspelled surname
and the package came back.

Now, when the package comes a second time I will:

- Have lost a lot of time behind this user, and money also.
- gained a negative feedback that is totally unfair and the administrarion refuses
to remove

Is this so easy for a newcomer to ruin the feedback ratio of a 14 years history
bricklink shop? I'm not worried about the single negative, but about the
power that is given to people unable to understand totally what they are doing.

What are your suggestions?

Zero!

If I order a set consisting of 300 parts and only a few common parts are missing,
I won't bother. Mistakes happen.

For egregious cases the decision is easy, but I just received yet another order
leaving me with a frustrating decision to make. I understand quantity errors,
but what gets to me are the missing lots that occur in roughly 50% of all orders
that have missing lots that bother me.

In this case, I probably will not say anything, because only 2 of 60 lots are
missing, they are not minifigures, and because I can get them from Lego.com for
$4 total. However, the decision is still annoying because one of the lots is
for right wedges to match left wedges that did get included.

Notes:
-Yes, I have tried ordering fewer lots, but it seems you have to keep it under
20 lots in order to prevent most seller mistakes. Those smaller orders are usually
not cost effective for me after factoring in shipping costs.
-If you receive an order containing a printout with a hand-written check mark
next to each lot, consider favoriting that seller. Those sellers are rare and
almost never make mistakes.

I guess I make one mistake over 100 lots.
As a buyer, most my orders are very small, like 3-10 lots and only one mistake
in the last 15-20 orders happened: from a friendly seller with very high feedback
rate in UK.

2-3 weeks within Canada is just normal. There is nothing for anyone to understand
the situation because this is not a delay. A delay with CanadaPost can also happen.

You shipped to the address the buyer gave and CanadaPost delivered it to that
address. As far as I know, they don't in general drop off the parcel at front
door. My postman only delivers it to me since he knows me otherwise leaves a
notice for me to pick up the parcel at our local post office.
But even if they dropped off the parcel: either the buyer is lying or the parcel
is delivered at a different address or it is stolen from the front door.
If he opens a PayPal claim, he loses because you have proof of sending the parcel
and tracking shows "delivered".

I had one case where the buyer in USA claimed he did not received it but the
tracking showed "delivered". Based on our communication I fully trusted
him (he didn't even want a
refund!...). I filed a claim with CanadaPost and they fully refunded me even
though the their tracking showed "Delivered". Bravo CanadaPost
So I sent him part of his order and gave him a partial refund and he was overall
very happy.

Based on these few things, I think you should find out how to proceed.

Yes, he changed his feedback to positive!

I went up to about 1200 feedbacks, all positives. Among those, about 15 of them
were neutral or negative. I had messaged buyer, showed them I was on their side
and made things right and they eventually removed feedback.
But my first neutral was given by someone who was firmly determined to keep it
neutral (for absurd reasons ).

Part No: 3957 Name: Antenna 4H - Round Top

Parts: Antenna {Black}

Part No: 4790 Name: Boat, Ship's Wheel

And just out of curiosity, are the yellow 44302 with or without groove?

I ordered and what he sent me and he still says I was wrong as he checked his
items with the inventory when he parted out the sets. I believe it was set 42129,
as this set was released in two versions, but the catalog and inventory does
not show this.

It can be any of those sets that comes with first variation of this part (and
in later production, those set could have come with the other variation)

He refuses to accept any responsibility or to check his remaining
stock.
In the meantime I have items I do not want as they are not suitable for some
of my mocs and unable to get any replies from the seller. I did NSS him but have
removed that and now no further contact from him. I am tempted to make a PayPal
claim.

Did you remove NSS yourself? If so, why?

I can see that it wasnt totally his fault that the inventory is not correct but
he needs to better check the items he is shipping match the items in the order.
I feel the language difference could be part of the problem, him not fully understanding
what I am trying to explain to him.

It is indeed his fault but a seller on bricklink has a harder job thank lego
company:
- sellers dont have any automated machine,
- sellers sells millions of parts each comes in variations of mold like this
battery box and variation of color like light gray vs. Light bluish gray. Over
the past years each new variation replced the previous one. The lego company’s
job is easier: they just sell what they just produced: the latest variation!
- sellers on BL have to check the condition of used parts.

So if a variation is important to you, i advice you to message the seller before
you order, and/or before you pay and of you don’t get a response, move on to
another seller. Indeed, most buyers dont care about variations of parts. This
is ehat i do as a buyer, specially for high $ orders or international ones.

He has communicated further with me since, hopefully we can sort something out.

You have the option to file a claim on PayPal. The best that can happen is that
you return everything in your order to get a full refund. But this means you
have to pay return shipping to Germany. You will be out return shipping costs
to Germany and the seller will be out shipping costs to you (plus PayPal fees
that won't be reversed to him).
So this is question: does this variation of part important enough for you to
pay and return?

pay the VAT? Why can't I put in my tax ID number? This makes no sense to
me at all. ( and I am being nice in stating it this way) It is bad enough that
I have to pay US taxes when I have a sales tax number. IT has never made sense
to me that people have to pay tax when buying from a different country.
Someone needs to get this fixed. Playing the "it's not fair card"
it really isn't fair that some have to pay and some do not. No one with
a tax/VAT number should have to pay. We have waited long enough for this to
be resolved.

Connie

I couldn't follow what you mean:
Are you just referring to purchasing from others? If so, I believe you are always
charged Sales tax but you never have to pay VAT on top of sales tax. Are you
being charged VAT in addition to sales tax? If so, then I believe that is wrong
and should be fixed.

P.S. if you are exempt of paying any sales tax, that's a different story.

Okay let me explain...

Someone who is using multiple accounts possibly has to because one or multiple
accounts have been banned.

That is why we have that rule?

Someone who is using multiple accounts... and is smart to mention "hey this
is my very first purchase" to make any suspicious thought about his account
disappear and then, he is also dump enough to say "I have used stripe here
for payment".

Yes the situation is strange, but it does not raise any red flag yet.

I placed 8 orders the same day. All of them went to packed status in 24 hours and shipped a day after

With this seller I messaged the last 3 of 7 days to ask when it might ship with no response.

This seemed like the appropriate thing to do.

It isn't, not when it's only been 7 days; this isn't Amazon, a lot
of sellers do this as a side hobby and can't prioritize getting orders out
the next day (even Amazon sometimes takes 5 days to ship)

No I didn't go digging around in any store policies.

So you made an account, placed orders, ignored terms and conditions that you
agree to (it shows store terms while you go through the checkout process) but
somehow knew enough to immediately file an NSS?

That doesn't seem fair at all; have you also checked your spam folder in
your email to see if they replied directly?

I'm not saying Bricklink is perfect when it comes to sellers, there are some
that just don't care, but they are few and far between; I just think that
jumping the gun to an NSS without even reading the store terms is pretty drastic

I don't claim to be the perfect buyer and I certainly make mistakes.

If this situation is normal (no contact after repeated attempts for this seller)
then they should have somewhere in the check out process in flashing red letters
in 100 pt font that this may take more than 1 week after packed status, to actually
ship. Fine I'd accept that and not place my order.

I don't know if the shipping frequencies are explained in the terms of their
store, but if they mentioned it, and you went through checkout without reading
it, then I would not continue blaming the seller for not putting it in flashing
red letters. What about other parts of their terms? For any part of their terms
you did not read and not overlook, you would still say "seller's fault
because it was not in flashing red letters"? So you expect their whole terms
of store to be in flashing red letter otherwise it is considered not to be there?

If the seller doesn't like what I've done then ship my order already.

It is possible this seller does this as hobby, meaning they receive in total
like 5 orders per month and they have little time to process orders because his
job is not this, meaning, he works 9-17, has family, other responsabilites,...
so he might have explained this in his terms in a cristal clear fashion, then
you agreed to that by placing your order, meaning you know how long it takes,
yet you decided to be impatient. I know a big store in Canada whose shipping
frequency is 10 days. I know another medium-sized store who work and ship orders
only Sundays.

So no, the seller will not like that, but he can still ship your order based
on his terms, then submit the tracking to the BL's help desk and remove the
NSS, then he can leaves you a negative feedback "agreed to store's terms
and 10 days shipping, file NSS and PayPal claim after 7 days" and stoplist
you.
Indeed by submitting an NSS and PayPal claim, you are slowing down the seller
from shipping his orders.

Because I'm going to paypal/my credit card company in a couple days to get
my money back.

Other sellers' will see your feedback and might decide to stoplist you (or
have already done so) because nobody welcomes trouble. Many seller's also
see your comments here and may have already taken action. You can verify this
on your account.
You might think there are many sellers on BL to buy from, but this is really
not the case, specially with rare parts.

I am not welcoming or suggesting anybody doing anything, but this is what it
might have happened.

Of course, if this seller does not explain how long it takes him to ship orders,
then it is all his fault.a

Should have explained what that number means

3719 = 37 1 9
37 means 37th week
9 means the year 198"9"
1 is a magic number whose meaning to be discovered one day by the Lego group.

Would you mind checking the 4-digit number printed on one of the two seals? That's
a date stamp showing the production date.

  Hi smart people,
Is there anyway for me or the buyer to change the currency once they have placed
the order? It is an international order so the payment will be online. She

Thanks for reading and for any help,
Rebecca

Yes, it is possible, if the order is not paid.

As Nubs_Select's screen shot, you can edit the currency.

Or, you can go this page (there is also a link on the orders' page):

https://www.bricklink.com/orderEdit.asp?ID=YOURORDERNUMBER

where YOURORDERNUMBER = is the order's number.

I accept multiple currencies and then a buyer pays in, for example, USD, I keep
the $ in my PayPal balance and then use it to pay my Bricklink's fees, or,
to buy Lego from USA.
If buyer pays in EURO, I keep EURO in my PayPal balance to use later and buy
Lego from Europe....
Otherwise, if I only accept $ CAD , when I want to buy from outside of Canada
and need to pay in a different currency than CAD, PayPal charges me %4 extra
or if I pay on PayPal via my credit car, I get charges 2.5% extra. That's
a good way to save some $$.

So when I don't have Euro in my PayPal's balance, and a buyer in Australia
orders and chooses CAD, I change the currency to EURO and I get paid in EURO.
For the buyer, there is no difference, but for me, I won't get charged 2.5%
or %4 to buy Lego in EURO.

Source: a new opened complete set. All bags are sealed but two bags are opened and a few pieces missing.

The light gray 3480 is not used on any model but it appears as a spare part on the table on one box art!

There are four 2x4 red bricks but I don't see where they are used.

There are 22 2x2 red bricks used on the first model and I can find 22 red bricks inside a sealed bag (counted many times).

"All bags are sealed but two bags are opened and a few pieces missing."

This may be one of the funniest sentences you have ever posted, Reza.

I re-worded it a few times and each time, it got worse

What about this:
"All bags presented in the box are sealed but two bags appear to have been
previously opened since a few pieces are missing."

When purchasing from a seller in a different country that lists prices in their
own currency, BrickLink figures the amount of my local sales tax based on the
foreign currency, thereby charging me too much sales tax. Case in point, Australian
dollars and Canadian dollars are a greater number (of dollars) than US dollars
for the same amount. The sales tax is my local sales tax and therefore should
be figured based on my local currency. How do we fix this?

Also...
When a seller issues a refund without using BrickLink's refund system, which
refunds the sales tax, how do I as a buyer get that sales tax refunded?

The sales tax is based on a percent, so it isn't going to make a difference.

If this doesn't make sense to you, maybe someone else can explain in further
detail with an example.

value of items in an order = 100
currency exchange rate = 1.3
tax percentage = 0.1

100 * 1.3 * 0.1 = 100 * 0.1 * 1.3

Not sure how this helps you but:
On behalf of that buyer, I acknowledge receipt of the pictures and express my

  Needless

Who is a desirable buyer? The guy who just pays and leaves a positive feedback?

How do I block such individual?

What a seller should learn is why a buyer wants photos and when and where to
take photos.
Many times, it does not make sense to take photos:
- a used set of 200 pieces. The description "parts in good condition"
should be enough in most cases. You cannot take photos of all parts from all
angles. But some times, one photo of printed parts or stickers would do the job
and help buyer trust the condition and your description.
Sometime newbies don't know that if a couple of items are in bad condition
or missing, I still send them. So I aknowledge in my response "if a mistake
happen and there is any missing or broken part, I will send you missing parts".
In some cases, they committed to buy even though I did not send any photo (I
remember once this happen for used set 928).

- when it comes with the condition of box and instructions, it totally makes
sense for a buyer to want to see photos. They are paying more to buy the set
with box, so they have to see photos beforehand.

Despite what other people said, between 25-50% of times, the users who request
photos commit to buy from me.

I suggest you focus on learning and understanding buyers' needs, rather than
stop-listing some users for such reasons.

In Catalog Requests, SezaR writes:
On the bottom of the inventory page of these sets, it is written:

The instructions do not show a trailer on the ladder truck, but actual set
contents and the official piece count (218) and an image of all three trailers
together on the box, prove that the set did come with the necessary pieces to
build the third trailer.

I found and bought an extra white-and-black sheet from a Lego fan in Canada.
This is probably added as extra page for instructions of 357 to some copies of
this set. I say some, because I had not seen this sheet. I bought myself this
set with box and all parts from a Canadian seller in very good condition but
this sheet was not there neither.
The paper I bought might be itself a copy of an original one because the bottom
of the page seems to not been copies (the bottom rectangle don't have a line
and there is no number on the footprint). I don't know how to verify whether
my sheet is original.
This extra sheet proves that the set did come with the necessary pieces to build
the third trailer.

I suggest to modify the note for these two sets:

The instructions do not show a trailer on the ladder truck, but one extra printed
page was added to some copies of this set (see the extra photo of instructions'
page) and actual set contents and the official piece count (218) and an image
of all three trailers together on the box, prove that the set did come with the
necessary pieces to build the third trailer.

I checked this instructions sheet and it looks an old paper and is somehow yellowed.
The type and quality of the paper is similar to other original Lego knes i own.

  Hello,

I spent £25 on an order which is a fair bit of money to me, and never received
the item or any communication from the seller on this website or given email
address. I was advised on here to open a case with PayPal as they will handle
everything, but they closed the case in favour of the seller.

Again no communication from the seller and PayPal won't give me any information,
their response was for me to go small claims court in my county??? PayPal won't
let me reopen the case.

Has anyone else encountered this? My understanding is PayPal would be useful
and help in these scenarios, but this just totally now feels like I have been
scammed on bricklink despite using the recommended channels and methods.

Anyone have advice for me here?

If Paypal sided with the seller its because the seller was able to provide a
tracking number with evidence that the item was shipped/received. However in
some cases just because an item was signed for it doesn't always mean it
went to the correct address. The courier may also be at fault in some other way
such as wrongly signing on your behalf or not leaving in a safe place when you
weren't at home to take the package.
My advice would be to ask the seller or paypal to provide the tracking number
so you can look into what has occurred.
I once checked the tracking evidence only to notice that the photo proof that
accompanied the signature wasn't even a photo of my own front door! The driver
basically shipped to a different address with the same house number and I was
able to collect from this alternative address without issue!

Thanks everyone for replies.

I've given details in the original post pretty much to its extent, seller
is not replying (on here or by email) to me, no proof of postage, no tracking
number etc. if PayPal has sided with the seller because of "evidence"
then this truly feels like a scam, as I've been given no information about
how/when the bricks were posted from the seller, so I wouldn't even know
where to begin to try find the wrong house, if it was posted at all.

PayPal won't let me reopen the case so it just seems like a lost £25 at this
point. Caveat Empor, I'll be sure to just buy from sellers on here with thousands
of reviews and guaranteed to give tracking numbers.

If you paid via PayPal, the seller HAS to provide a tracking number otherwise
PayPal issues a full refund.

My best guess is that you paid via PayPal "friends and family", not "goods
and services". Is that right?

Yes, but why did the buyer accepted to pay twice?

Because there’s LEGO in the package!

Also, you want the buyer to refuse the package?  So it’s returned to the seller…
and who pays for shipping?

Who cares... I would NOT pay twice, simply reject and see later what happens.

As a seller my jib is to submit the vat info in paper and electronically. There
is nothing better i can do.
I already made it clear in my terms and i would make it even more clear later
that buyer has three opttions:

1) do not order from me
2) order from me md accept to pay cheap international shipping via private coureirs
like Stallion express. In that case, you pay like $30 for 1kg but if you don’t
pay the double vat if that unfortunate happens , the package will not return
by courier so you lose all your money and no refund will be given to you. In
theory paypal will side with me if buyer did not pick up the package, i.e. refused
it.
3) order from me and pay for high shipping with canadapost, like $70 for 1kg.
Then if you dont pay the double vat, i expect a payment for return shipping,
which may be high plus other fees i get charged. This option is not worth it.

This being said, i had this happened only once for a package sent to hungary
or poland via ebay.

Don't get upset but take positive lessons from this experience.
TBH, you made some mistakes or some wrong assumptions here.

I've had a buyer potentially interested in 2 large sets I'm selling.
He asked for pictures. So, I went ahead, checked the inventory once again, took
several pictures, sent to him, unlisted the two items he was interested in (to
give him first dibs).

I don't always take pictures of whatever item a buyer asks.
If the set include instructions or box, I take photos, upload it on imgur.com
and send a link. The buyer may not order this item, but I already created a link
in hand to send to a next user should he wants photos. This is much easier than
attaching photos one by one.
You can also add the link to the comment section, or to the remark section (to
be accessible by only you).

I would not reserve an item for a buyer who asks for a photo, specially if he
did not ask that

It's been 4 days now and he has not even acknowledged
receipt of the pictures

I would not need that as a seller and I don't need that. As a buyer, I won't
acknowledge a seller who sends me photos that i received them.
If it helps you, I thank you on behalf of this buyer.

and what his intentions are. Be nice to people they said,
what did I get?

an experience

I waisted 2 hours and now nothing. Yes, it's part of the
business/hobby, but next time someone asks for pictures well ... we'll see.

Some buyers may not trust your store and the way you describe the condition.
It can help to take photos of a few sets with their description, as an example
(in your ) and mention this in your terms. Then buyers can better understand
what you mean by "parts in good condition", "the print on the part
X mildly faded",...

Hi D.

You ordered 4 times from me and what a shame for the person who called you that.

Why did you order from this store with this rating?

Lately I've seen a surge in NEW members (zero feedback), who end up non-paying.
I'd love to help newbies, but when I go through th effort of checking the
inventory, packing the set, and buying shipping,

Wow! no, I wouldn't do that.

then the would be buyer cancels

At least based on this, you don't know how BL works and this is the first
thing to do: read through forum threads (past buyer's problems), help page
and learn how things work.
A buyer CANNOT cancel an order. They don't have this power.
When a buyer submit a cancellation request, I simply reject it and wait a few
days until I can submit an NPB against buyer.
If the buyer politely messages me, I explain that an order is a binding contract
and if he is not sure, he should not submit an order but he can submit a quote
request. And I ask him to leave a positive feedback (to make him do an extra
work and make sure he won't leave a non-positive feedback after I cancel.
This happens sometimes) and write "please do not submit an order in any store
if you are no sure...".

  .. that is really annoying.

If you complete an NPB against those buyers, they won't do that with other
sellers or they will be permanently banned after 3 strikes. So you give a service
to the community by filing an NPB.
Many stores like mine file NPB against non-paying buyer, instead of just cancelling,
otherwise you would have had many more non-paying buyers.

Yes, I could wait for payment before buying the shipping label, but all of that
takes time.

Add shipping costs to the best of your knowledge and then after he pays, you
do packing, shipping,...
Sometimes your quote will be $1 more expensive, and sometimes $1 cheaper. I wouldn't
worry about that.

Should we just ignore all new buyers with zero feedback?

I'd hate to tarnish their reputation and give a negative feedback, but at
the same time, I expect some 'courtesy/commitment' in return.

If you just cancel, buyer can leave you a neutral/negative feedback and you simply
ruin your own reputation if you don't file an NPB. But if you do file an
NPB AND complete it, then buyer cannot leave a bad feedback and then, it is better
to leave a negative feedback. If in the future, a buyer send me a message, apologizes
and requests me to remove the negative fb I left for him, I would do that for
sure (for that I need to contact the help desk).

Any help is appreciated.

How about "Yes, that is correct."

That would be funny… but, as I understand it, the buyer thinks that “PP on site”
means “off site.”  They can’t be told it’s correct.

I’m also thinking the first “with” should be a “without”: hey can’t pay on PP
without an invoice, they can’t get an invoice without an order, and they (somehow)
can’t order.

Anyway, simply answer the question in the title, not the confusing details in
the message: explain how ordering works in your store for a US buyer, keeping
it simple.

Would you explain how things work to a buyer with about 1500-1600 feedback ratings
who submitted many orders from stores in US (where payment method is nearly always
paypal onsite) and internation orders (aypal onsite again for bl collects sales
tax)

So, something like (but better written) “you place items in your cart, you check
out, you wait for an invoice, you click the pay button.”

Sets: Space: Classic Space

* Delete 1 Part 3062b Trans-Green Brick, Round 1 x 1 Open Stud

* Add 1 Part 3062a Trans-Green Brick, Round 1 x 1 Solid Stud
* Add 15 Part 3062a Trans-Red Brick, Round 1 x 1 Solid Stud

Comments from Submitter:
Instructions, pr photos and other inventories show the parts to be the solid stud versions. Incorrectly listing this widely available part in your inventory opens an opportunity for fraud, as sellers can substitute the rare original part, with a common part and claim a set to be "complete" defrauding the buyer

Having checked photos of many copies of space classic sets including 928, 924,...that
were released in 1979 and having bought many copies of these sets from first
owner, I can tell ALL copies of these sets came with round 1x1 bricks with open
stud. TLG began to produce round bricks with open stud since 1978 to replace
with the variant with solid stud. The years 1978-80 were the transition time,
because TLG wanted to first use all his stock of variant with open stud, and
then use the later variant with open stud, so all this depended on the color,
how many of which color they had in stock,...

Since the box art and instructions were designed before TLG designed and produced
the variant with open stud, they show the variant with solid stud. The other
inventories like that of peeron.com were created by Lego fans using only the
instructions and they were never checked with sealed copies of sets. I think
other websites copies their inventories from peeron.com too.

I have photos of some classic space sets in which we can see round brick with
open stud. I even own a sealed 924 inside which there is a catalog from 1979
(so the set was produced in 1979 and not 1980 or later).
If you have photos of a sealed 928 that came with solid stud version, please
share.

If you even find 15 of

Part No: 3062a Name: Brick, Round 1 x 1 - Solid Stud, Bottom Lip
*
3062a Brick, Round 1 x 1 - Solid Stud, Bottom Lip
Parts: Brick, Round {Trans-Red}
together, that is something to consider But this part is so rare.

So the inventory is correct as it is, and nobody has been committing any fraud
neither.

How do they dare to not follow the definition of new vs. used?
We should all file an NSS against Lego along with a paypal claim and take them
down for this scam. All that is required is 3 NSSs!

In Selling, alex10552 writes:
Honestly, I think the larger issue is how BrickLink allows assembled minifigures
to be listed as New. This is absurd to me, since when you piece two Lego parts
together there is a strain on the plastic, albeit small it is still a strain,
thus the condition is no longer "New". I really wish this would be changed,
it makes zero sense to me.

In Selling, MiniRoz writes:
It seems like there is an increase in sellers listings USED figs as being in
NEW condition, but they put some like “looks new” or “like new” in the comments.
When I’m buying figs for my own collection, I’ll take the time to read the comments
and it’s not a huge deal. As a seller, however, it drives me nuts. When someone
lists a used fig as new, they usually sell it for well under the 6 month average,
which obviously affects what buyers believe is the average cost for actual new
figures. I know what they’re doing goes against BrickLink’s policy, but they
either didn’t get the memo or they don’t care.
As sellers, does this drive you bananas or do you just shrug it off? Do you keep
your new figs listed at a price that maintains a reasonable profit margin, or
do you cut your losses to compete with current average prices?

Other marketplaces are there for this.

Opening a store is the only way you're allowed to sell here. There's
nothing wrong with opening a store and only selling one set though.

Agreed
   After that,
if you want to leave your store empty, you can.

That would be Crazy from a Lego Man! 😀

I cannot check what the seller has done until I have the package. And as a private

Any advice welcome, thanks.

I had one case (Was it Poland or Hungary...?) that I even electronically added
the IOSS number, but the buyer was charged again.

As VAT is already paid and collected, what if seller declares a very low value?
I am not sure if this is still technically called a fraud because the buyer has
paid the VAT but in case he gets again charged for VAT , it would be just 1 or
2 Euro!

I think when they charge VAT again, that is what we can call a fraud against
buyer.

Would be merged?

Yes, unless it could otherwise be distinguished by the print alone.

Or am I misunderstanding. The old version of this torso is quite
difficult to get in good condition so it could get very difficult to find if
a buyer is looking for a true “classic” version of this torso as classic space
fans are “picky” (not in a bad way just didn’t know what other word to use)
about variants and similar

Point taken. A few other points, however:

1. You can still list whatever variant you wish using the notes field.

2. The catalog will still distinguish PRINTED variants of these same parts.

3. Because this variant involved minifigure inventories, it opens the door to
an unsustainable situation where every mold variant of every part on a minifigure
is recognized. To properly handle these in the BrickLink system, we would need
to add thousands (literally) of permutations of minifigures which are essentially
the same thing.

Take a look at this fan site for an excellent torso image:

https://62bricks.blog/2017/04/09/minifig-torso-types/

There are actually three types of torsos based on mold alone. Are we going to
then go through and try to figure out which minifigures had which mold? And then,
which sets had which minifigures? Remember that there were also different kinds
of heads, different helmets and different hands.

Considering helmets, why not adding some notes for each space (and town) minifig
with helmet, giving details of what sets came with what type of helmet? Like

Minifig Sp.... (like sp127)

This minifig in following sets came with with helmet "variant1": set
X1, X2, early releases of X3,...
This minifig in following sets came with with helmet "variant1": set
Y1, Y2, later releases of X3,...

The note can be added to the inventory of each related set.

This way, people who care about these things, can easily find what they need
to know.

Similar thing can be done with torsos.

We have had our share of neutral and negative feedbacks - at total of 26 - but
how are some stores still allowed to do business? There is a store in Germany
with around 8850 total feedbacks but out of his 7151 feedbacks for selling he
has 393 negative / neutrals. This past year alone he has 503 positive but 48
negative / neutrals - that is almost 10%!! That means 1 out of every 10 customers
are getting bad service and how many more are getting bad service but are afraid
to leave a negative feedback out of fear of getting retaliatory feedback.

Sometimes when I stumble across a store with a really bad reputation, like the
one above, I am surprised that they are still allowed to keep their selling status.

Just a rant.

What would be your proposal for BL?

What action can I take if he is already on my stoplist?

Try Brickognize.com, there's even a BL link in the results.

This website is cool! I should create a refined version of this website. Merci
beaucoup brick_QC !
And thanks everybody else who helped 😀

I have sold many used complete sets. I checked them twice. Once when I check
and list set for sale, and one more time when it is sold and I have to ship it.
Still, I make mistakes and they happen more often than I like to. Of course,
I fix issues if buyer contact me.

If you test yourself by checking the inventory of 100 sets yourself, meaning
you sit down, look at the parts, check the quantity, the condition, the color,
functionality of electric parts, stickers, (sometimes) correct variation of parts,....how
many of those 100 sets would you check 100% accurately? I think if you do this
imaginary test, you would be surprised by your final result!

In Problem Order, toyboy18 writes:
  Hello Bricklink Community,

This situation has happened to me several times over the years and have been
hesitant to speak up because this site is too important.

There are sets that sellers advertise as 'Complete', not missing any
parts, but when the package arrives, there are indeed missing parts. Sometimes,
it's just one part, some times it is several. Sometimes, it's a mild
irritation, and other times it prevents the set from being completed.

I just ordered 3 sets from 3 different stores and 2 of them shipped with missing
parts despite the 'complete' status on the initial listing. (The 3rd
order was flawless).

In the past, I followed up with some of the sellers and they endeavored to fix
the matter, but it's happened enough, I don't have time to follow up
with everyone.

My question for the community: has this happened to others? Am I just unlucky?
What gives?

Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Toyboy18

Just got the email from customs, telling me to pay VAT otherwise the package

I cannot check what the seller has done until I have the package. And as a private
individual I have no option to claim back VAT from Irish Revenue.

Any advice welcome, thanks.

It's typical incompetence throughout... And why we haven't yet opened
back up to transacting with other countries again. Just not worth the hassle.

Until the various global private/governmental systems sync up a bit more (iow,
get their act together) we'll continue selling domestic only. When I see
that the newest money-grab methods have somewhat normalized, we'll reopen
to global sales.

And yes, I'm fully aware the so called necessity of the "electronic"
input of the IOSS data over hard invoice, it's failures too

Not to derail the conversation, but this 'globalization' of commerce
has made this hobby (and others) extremely expensive. For example, I can't
buy/sell anything with Canada (just next door) as their taxes and SHIPPING are
just crazy. I recently sold a small part to a buyer in Montreal, the part itself
(thin flex cable for Power Puller) was $10.00, shipping was twice that amount.
So much for open borders and global trade.

Using pirateships.com, you can ship up to 1/2 lbs for just $10:
https://www.pirateship.com/simple-export-rate

I personally don't order from USA because almost no seller in the USA did
enough search to find a cheap shipping method to Canada and want to ship directly
with USPS and charge like $26.

Have you read the terms... gift seems like an important part of the shipment
process a business registered in the US usually isn't exporting gifts
Key "Gift may need to provide proof to customs that items are being shipped
as a gift"
Also the customer is responsible for customs.
"
.Gift vs. Merchandise...
If you use Simple Export Rate for any country other than Canada, ‘Gift’ will
not be supported. If you select 'Gift' while creating a label, it will
show up as ‘Merchandise’ on the physical label once you print it. For some countries,
this will impact the amount of Customs Taxes and Fees your customer is liable
for.

For any shipment needing to be shipped as a ‘Gift,’ we recommend using USPS First
Class Package International, or USPS Priority Mail International. Keep in mind
that recipients of a Gift may need to provide proof to customs that items are
being shipped as a gift from an individual, and that not all Gift shipments will
be exempt from import taxes. Shippers are responsible for determining the right
content category for their packages.

If you are shipping to Canada, regardless of the service purchased, ‘Gift’ will
be supported and appear on the label as normal 👌
"

I fail to follow and understand and find any connection between my comment about
shipping with pirateships.com and this story of terms, gift vs. merchandise,...

Anyway, sellers should fill out custom forms and declare them as merchandise,
never gift otherwise it is called a fraud. Period.
