  Dear BrickLink members,

Following the examples of other online marketplaces with regards to security
features such as OTP, we have decided to change the current OTP opt-in feature
to an opt-out feature. This means that sellers will have this feature enabled
automatically in their store settings and will be able to opt-out if they so
desire.
We highly encourage sellers to keep OTP enabled for added account protection.

Additional safety measures may include changing your passwords regularly and
having separate passwords for all your online accounts.

Thank you.

Thank you for announcing this ahead of time, I don't have stress enough yet.

proposed part merger.

IT: Wait, what? Why would we merge parts? I can make a drop down that will manage
that for you. Would that work?
Manager: Rats, I ran out of gummies, do you have any?

I highly encourage BrickLink to find another way to give PA or important information
than posting in a Forum read by 1% users and at 22:43 EDT or 3:43 Paris time

Hello,

Today I received 4 phishing emails from site brickslink.org. This new site looks
like exactly that your screenshot of bricklinks.org.

You sent me the email to tell me about this, despite me not having a seller account,
and finding I'm unable to do it.

Also, to the person asking for SMS 2FA - this is insecure (as is email, tbh).
Bricklink should really implement 2FA via authentication app for proper security.

Please NO - apart if it's optional.

yeah its a typical scam site. Nothing works but the "login"

My browser wants to translate it from French (despite everything visible being

I think the correct term is “testing”

"testing" for several hours to increase the efficiency of

agreed.

Also I don't think it would really stop the phishing. I mean, I don't
think 100% of people glance at the url when they hit a link. I know I don't.
It could be www.yourvebeenhacked.com after you click the link and it would still
get a decent number of victims IMO because I doubt the average user checks these
things.

Yeah, invoice it. If they pay, you were wrong and it was a real order (it could
be coincidence). If they don't pay, start the NPB.

We would like to remind you that we have implemented OTP (One-Time PIN) which

If you have not chosen to use OTP, we advise that you consider doing so in the

Please update your BrickLink password regularly and make sure to use different

  Dear BrickLink members,

The LEGO Group released the following statement regarding the war in Ukraine.

Our thoughts are with all the children and families suffering as a result of
the war in Ukraine.
Our priority is the safety of all our colleagues. We are in contact with our
Ukrainian team and are providing ongoing support to ensure their safety. We are
also working to support other colleagues around the world impacted by the escalating
crisis including our team in Russia.

We have paused shipments of products to Russia given the extensive disruption
to the operating environment.

We care deeply about the lasting impact on children and together with the LEGO
Foundation and Ole Kirk’s Fond, we will donate DKK 110 million (approx. USD 16.5
million) to emergency relief efforts, with a focus on providing support for children
and families. The donation will be made to existing partners, including the United
Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Save the Children, and the Danish Red Cross.

This is a volatile and constantly evolving situation which we are monitoring
closely.
What does this mean for BrickLink?

The global payment platforms we use on BrickLink are currently not available
in Russia and deliveries to and from the country are severely disrupted. Given
this, buying and selling activities in Russia will be temporarily deactivated.
Members impacted by this will be informed individually.

We are grateful for everyone in our community and never imagined we would face
a situation such as this or witness the heartbreak and devastation we’re seeing
in Ukraine.

Please continue to adhere to our community guidelines and show each other respect
and support.

Thank you for your understanding.

I was only answering the “BL should moderate the sale feature” part, not the
part (in parentheses) about IP addresses.

IIRC, I didn’t say anything about IP addresses because I had nothing to say for
or against it, contrarily to the main point

Sorry, I should have snipped that part or answered before (thus leaving the quote
but below my answer), to make it clearer I wasn’t addressing it (pun intended).

I mean, it's not my business so I don't really care, but if it's
BL wish to be law-compliant, this isn't enough. They'd have to moderate
the sale function itself, not just the forum. (And, talking about law-compliancy,
change several other things, such as stop pumping seller's mailboxes full
of IP addresses of their buyers, which is a GDPR violation because it counts
as private data and it counts as irrelevant for the purpose).

BL is law-compliant when BL risks something and, AFAIK, BL doesn’t risk anything
here, only the sellers do.  Actually, also AFAIK, nothing says marketplaces should
enforce those laws in acting, preventing, warning the sellers, applying to the
local authorities or whatever.
OTOH, members can apply to the local authorities to investigate the sellers.
But then I won’t bet on the chances of something happening to those small fishes.

Ehm... I am no specialist but at first sight BrickLink does risk liability if
they share private data that is not relevant for the purpose. (A seller needs
the buyer's address to ship an order, but does for example not need that
IP address). If this data is collected and shared, then BrickLink is the party
doing that. By offering their services in the EU, the GDPR applies. If anyone
files a complaint to the relevant authorities, I think that could make BrickLink
liable for 1) possibly collecting more data than needed, and 2) a data leak because
they share the information with others (the sellers). The related fines can be
serious, so BL does risk something. Compared to other offenders, I think BL is
not at the top of their priority list, but that is no reason not to comply with
the law.

AFAIK, this is your one and only sales post: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1409228
So, under your new rule, you can’t actually post anymore

Whaaaat? But this was May 7, 2023?!
(thanks to remember it, I still think it was a fun sale)

That's an iniquitous rule!

What about the Pizza fans - seriously, that's a major problem.

If you can post in the Forum now, you are not banned. The ban feature is all
or nothing when it comes to different topics.

There is also the case of this Seller... who isn't really a Seller... and
who's the second poster on BrickLink...

Could we set a rule, like X posts every Y sales or something?
So I can keep posting and not him?

Please have a good weekend - all!

  Hello everyone,

We are implementing a change of policy in regard to Sales posts in the Forum.
As the number of sellers has grown and as our site becomes more and more of a
premium marketplace, there is more incentive to advertise in the Forum and this
has led to an overabundance of posts under the Sales topic.

To be sure, there are a few members who have abused the Sales post feature, running
what seem to be constant deep discounts on everything in their store or in certain
categories. Most members who post in Sales, however, are not currently abusing
the feature, but we want to reduce the overall prominence of Sales posts.

The policy has been changed from a maximum of one per day to a maximum of one
per month
. Please see the screenshot below.

Sellers posting more frequently may incur a friendly flooding ban for one month.
These are non-cumulative bans and will not go on your record. Bans will be lifted
immediately if the member contacts us and lets us know they agree to the new
policy.

Only the initial post in a thread counts toward the total Sales posts. Replies
will not count unless it is obvious that someone is posting to circumvent the
new policy.

This policy will be in place for the next 6 months after which we will assess
the situation.

**************

A word about "good" sales posts

On the BrickLink platform, visual presentation is a big part of our success.
This is why nice images are so critical to the catalog. When we see the same
one-line-of-text Sales posts cut and pasted over and over, it doesn't really
engage buyers. In fact, you may turn people off with such posts, especially if
they are done with frequency.

We're thinking of running a little contest over the next 6 months to reward
the best and most creative sales posts. More details on that later.

  Dear BrickLink members,

After the acquisition of BrickLink in 2019, we’ve continued to deepen and broaden
our relationship and service to the AFOL community. Throughout this transition,
we’ve kept conscious of the fact that BrickLink represents the LEGO® brand in
a much more direct way than before.

We have identified a need to bring our Terms of Service closer to LEGO brand
guidelines regarding restricted content. The implementation of these guidelines
will specifically affect the Studio Gallery, meaning all military/modern warfare-themed,
religious, and alcohol-centric MOCs will be set to “Private” and removed from
public view.

We will continue to support BrickLink members by improving features and encouraging
creativity. In order to do that, we need to ensure that publicly displayed MOCs
in the Studio Gallery adhere to our brand guidelines. MOCs containing restricted
content can still be uploaded in “Private” mode for your own personal purposes.

These guidelines will take effect on January 31st. At this time, a new
upload flow for submitting to the Studio Gallery will be released, enforcing
these guidelines for all future MOCs. Simultaneously, the Designer Terms of Service
(https://www.bricklink.com/v3/terms_of_service_designer.page) will be updated
and the “Military” category in the Studio Gallery will be removed.

Currently displayed MOCs that do not comply with the updated guidelines will
remain visible for two weeks. They will be set to “Private” mode starting on
February 12th, but they will not be deleted from the platform.

This change to the Studio Gallery guidelines is, admittedly, an impactful adjustment
for some users. While many MOCs will be removed from public view, thousands more
remain for you to discover and build for yourself.

I have tried to contact Bricklink several time, but I have not recieved any response.
It looks like they want to keep the 80 euros.

It should be pretty simple for Bricklink. Either collect VAT and refund when
they make mistakes, or stop collecting VAT at all.

The seller says it is impossible for him to refund the VAT because it is already
sent to Bricklink. Does anyone know if that is correct?

If it is Bricklinks task to refund, and they do not respond, I guess my next
step should be to contact Norwegian tax authorities to get Bricklink delisted
from VOEC.

  Dear BrickLink members,

This week we plan to deploy a tax solution for Norway Value Added Tax (VAT).
This change will be affecting sellers and buyers in Norway as well as all sellers
who are selling to this country.

Here is a summary of changes to come:

1. For orders that are imported into Norway, where the value of each individual
item is less than NOK 3,000, VAT will be collected and remitted by BrickLink.
2. Sellers must have at least one on-site payment method available in their store
to process all orders where tax is collected by BrickLink.
3. Starting with the upcoming January 5th billing cycle, Norway sellers will
have VAT applied to their seller fees.
4. Registered business sellers in Norway will now have the option to add their
registration information in their store settings. For these sellers, VAT will
not be added to their monthly fees.

For more details, please see our new help page: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2616
Additionally, will be sending out emails to all affected members.

Thank you,
The BrickLink Team

I can confirm that Paypal collects the VAT in behalf of Bricklink. The ammount
is taken from the total payment and automatically forwarded to Bricklink. The
seller does not have possession of the VAT money at any point in time.

The cost for handling at the post office you wont get refunded, but it should
be Bricklink's task to refund the taxes if you got proof of payment. It have
happen me a few times on ebay and its really easy to get them to refund taxes
as long as you have a copy of the recipt for paying taxes at Norwegian post office.
Norwegian post office on the other hand would never refund you as long as its
not possible to read VOEC number on the package some wear.

VOEC HAS to be written at least in the postal address/sticker.

The BrickLink receipt to include for Customs office is sent to the seller and
he has to put it in a clear plastic pocket outside the envelope/parcel.

It's not BrickLink fault, and they won't refund you.

Please contact the seller who apparently didn't do it properly, and try to
discuss with them. Please be cool; it's brand new for Norway (on BrickLink)
and I guess MANY aren't aware...

According to bricklink instructions "You MUST NOT use BrickLink’s VOEC number
for any other purpose and NEVER write this number on your packages."

This contradicts what has been said above. Which one is it; MUST or MUST NOT?

MUST: registered on the CN 23 electronically (will not be visible on the printout)
MUST NOT: written on the package

Same as shipping from Norway to EU. Which did not work very well in the beginning
either as the Norwegian postal service had not made it possible to register the
number electronically in the start, but (except for Sweden) works very well now.

In Sweden they will charge VAT again if they suspect something is wrong, and
if you complain and document that all were correct, they will answer something
like "Yes, we can see that your information is correct, but since we charged
VAT, something must be wrong" And they will never admit that it was themselves
that made the mistake.

I'm trying to fill BL VOEC 7digit number in UPS site and it says format is
wrong.

So, I tried to add NO in the beginning and it didn't work, also played with
MVA and didn't work either.

So, is BrickLink's VOEC/TAX ID wrong or is it UPS site wrong?

Bureaucracy….

Even when there’s an ombudsperson, it’s generally a pain because you need to
make a formal (written) complaint first, then you wait, then you appeal to the
mediator, then you wait again….
All that for a few euros.

Nobody can help you get the money back from Bricklink. Bricklink refuses any
repayment! Try the seller or your carrier.

Good luck!

The site redirects to the post about temporary suspension of work in Russia due
to the war in Ukraine. but in the post itself it says ONLY about RUSSIA.
so why is Belarus also under restriction? because Belarus is not involved in
this conflict.

can we get a list of the countries Lego ceased commercial operations in / BL
have banned BL transactions in?

so as a Community we know in advance

thank you...
