The catalog experts will give you an answer for your specific item, but the general
answer to your question is anywhere from a few minutes to more than 2.5 years!

Good luck.

As many of you know, I strongly disagreed with the significant disservice done
to the people who built this website's catalog with the haphazard and poorly-handled
anonymizing of catalog contributors around the time of the sale to the LEGO Group.

Yes, this is the Bluser issue. Yep, I'm speaking about it again . . . probably
because the site has repeatedly shown its contempt and disregard for the catalog
and its contributors (most recently with its poor handling of the variant issue).

So anyway, the anonymizing was so poorly handled that by performing a couple
of basic and simple Google searches I can tell you the full name of this member
and his home address:

https://www.bricklink.com/feedback.asp?u=bb257520

There are numerous other "anonymized" members on BrickLink for whom information
can be quite easily discovered, including full name, age, home address, telephone
number, relatives, etc., etc.

Screenshot this post if you want to keep it, because the site will probably delete
the post and ban me from the forum again for expressing myself.

As we all know, the decision was already made before members were ever consulted.
Still, as an exercise in sharing meaningless facts, here is how BrickLink members
feel.

A total of 75 people shared thoughts (including OP).

13.4% approved of the decision.
16% had no opinion.
24% had mixed feelings.
46.6% disapproved.

Result: over 70% of respondents did not approve of these changes or had
mixed feelings. But . . . the "platform" approves, so I suppose we're
all good.

  This is all for now.

BrickLink could serve all users if the database was designed correctly. I agree
the site has added too many variants which are pointless and annoying for the
average user, but I've also argued for years that this is only an issue because
of inadequate site design.

If you truly want to move the site forward, then do it the right way. BrickLink
users who don't care about variants should never have to worry about them,
while those who do care should have access to all variants.

This proposal to consolidate variants is the easy way out of a difficult situation.
Instead of the easy way, choose the right way. Redesign the catalog system.
It has needed an overhaul for the last 24 years.

One catalog expert disagrees with me on this issue, but I am requesting that
the entire catalog team discuss this and present a unified opinion on the matter.
I also hope to hear input from other BrickLink members. Such input should definitely
have been considered in this decision (so please share your thoughts).

My opinion is that games should all be located together. When games were moved
from Sets to Gear, some were scattered throughout the catalog instead of being
categorized as games:

Set No: 40315 Name: {Temple Journey Board Game} polybag
*
40315-1 (Inv) {Temple Journey Board Game} polybag
49 Parts, 2 Gear, 2018
Sets: NINJAGO: Hunted: Games

Set No: 851499  Name: Chess
*
851499-1 (Inv) Chess
80 Parts, 24 Minifigures, 2 Gear, 2005
Sets: Castle: Knights Kingdom II: Games

Set No: 851847  Name: Ludo
*
851847-1 (Inv) Ludo
9 Parts, 16 Minifigures, 2 Gear, 2006
Sets: Town: City: Games

The rationale given to me was that only sets branded as Games would be in the
Games category. Yet even those clearly branded on the box as the Games theme
were sometimes not categorized as games:

Set No: 2010 Name: 2010 Employee Exclusive: Happy Holidays - The Christmas Game
*
2010-2 (Inv) 2010 Employee Exclusive: Happy Holidays - The Christmas Game
139 Parts, 2010
Sets: LEGO Brand: LEGO Employee Gift: Holiday & Event: Christmas: Games
Sets: LEGO Brand: LEGO Employee Gift: Holiday & Event: Christmas: Games

Currently, only 42 games are correctly categorized as games:

Set No: 3856 Name: Ninjago - The Board Game
*
3856-1 (Inv) Ninjago - The Board Game
235 Parts, 10 Minifigures, 2011
Sets: Games: NINJAGO: The Golden Weapons

Set No: 3862 Name: Harry Potter - Hogwarts
*
3862-1 (Inv) Harry Potter - Hogwarts
323 Parts, 9 Minifigures, 2010
Sets: Games: Harry Potter

There are, by the way, other instances of set box branding ignored for the purpose
of making things easy to find. For example, these sets are all categorized as
Advent even though not all are branded that way (and, really, there is technically
no Advent branding anyway):

Set No: 75964 Name: Advent Calendar 2019, Harry Potter
*
75964-1 (Inv) Advent Calendar 2019, Harry Potter
24 Sets, 2019
Sets: Holiday & Event: Advent: Harry Potter

Set No: 4024 Name: Advent Calendar 2003, Creator
*
4024-1 (Inv) Advent Calendar 2003, Creator
24 Sets, 2003
Sets: Holiday & Event: Advent: Creator

Set No: 7575 Name: Advent Calendar 2004, Clikits
*
7575-1 (Inv) Advent Calendar 2004, Clikits
24 Sets, 2004
Sets: Holiday & Event: Advent: Clikits

Why are all the advent calendars in one place? Because common sense says that
people looking for advent calendars want to see them all in one place. The same
common sense says that people looking for games want to see them all in one place.

In addition, BrickLink does not even have written guidelines governing how sets
are categorized - so it's all just the whim of the person deciding. In this
case, scattering games was simply a bad decision.

Here's another example. These sets are absolutely not Train sets. They
are City sets. Look at the pictures of the set boxes.

Set No: 60337 Name: Express Passenger Train
*
60337-1 (Inv) Express Passenger Train
739 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2022
Sets: Train: RC Train

Set No: 60336 Name: Freight Train
*
60336-1 (Inv) Freight Train
1129 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2022
Sets: Train: RC Train

Set No: 60335 Name: Train Station
*
60335-1 (Inv) Train Station
883 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2022
Sets: Train: RC Train

Set No: 60197 Name: Passenger Train
*
60197-1 (Inv) Passenger Train
661 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2018
Sets: Train: RC Train

Notice the distinct difference in box appearance from a true train set:

Set No: 3225 Name: Classic Train
*
3225-1 (Inv) Classic Train
272 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 1998
Sets: Train: 9V

But we categorize them as trains. Why were they not categorized as City:
Train: RC Train
instead? Because common sense says they are trains and people
want to find all the trains together in one place.

There is more to categorization than just the box and that is why I have made
this request for a well-considered group decision. The games should have stayed
together and they should be together.

It just makes sense.

Thanks to plenty of work over the years, your catalog has only 27 sets out of
19,134 that are missing an image.

One of those 27 sets is this one:

Set No: 4499536  Name: Offre Speciale 4 Boites (7236, 7238, 7235, 7241)
*
4499536-1 (Inv) Offre Speciale 4 Boites (7236, 7238, 7235, 7241)
4 Sets, 2007
Sets: Town: City

A member has one for sale with an image. I am requesting that a catalog expert
check to see if the member has photo sharing turned on. If so, the image can
be used.

If not, I am requesting that the member be contacted for use of the image.

Although there's no image uploaded, this member could be contacted also:

Set No: 9091 Name: Extra DUPLO Bricks and Storage Tray

9091-1 Extra DUPLO Bricks and Storage Tray

Sylvain,

I submitted requests to change the tooth parts to teeth. I was told from the

Therefore, the 14 "teeth" items must be changed to "tooth."
I'm not going to mess with it anymore, but just thought I'd give you
an update in case you wanted to request the changes.

p.s. And then you have things like this, where the letter T is used to mean teeth:

It's a simple case of a minor print variation. Minifigures are already separated.

I agree. Leaving this one part with two different entries while the rest have

  Another solution for consistency is to split all known single/dual mold mini

That's unlikely to happen, of course. I encourage the catalog experts to

Part No: 10274stk01 Name: Sticker Sheet for Set 10274 - (78153/6342068)
*
10274stk01 Sticker Sheet for Set 10274 - (78153/6342068)
Parts: Sticker Sheet

The stylized Cadillac name and logo are included in the set contents as parts
of the sticker sheet. The GM logo is also included on the set box. Therefore,
the set should properly have two cobrands.

The catalog guidelines state: "Unreleased items are those for which there
is no proof of existence."

I have attached proof of the existence of this set. At least one actual physical
copy of the set exists.

I'm curious why this catalog request was moved from the Catalog Request
topic to the Catalog topic.

Set 2019-1 was listed in the Unreleased section of the BrickLink catalog before
I made the request. I provided evidence that the set existed in the form of
a picture of an actual physical set. The set was then correctly moved out of
the Unreleased section and into the catalog. My request was marked as completed.

My catalog request, which was correctly submitted and properly handled, was later
moved from a catalog request into the Catalog topic for no apparent reason.
I have returned the request to the correct topic and would like it changed back
to completed.

I am requesting that these two categories be changed or removed:

Miscellaneous
Miscellaneous Licensed

These are not categories and the items within them are uncategorized. I know
there is only one item in each category right now, but this is how things start
going wrong. Things start small and then you end up with 700 uncategorized items
that someone must sort through down the road (speaking from experience).

Everything can be categorized and that is the purpose of having a catalog.

For this set, I suggest a category of Ikea:

Set No: 40357  Name: BYGGLEK
*
40357-1 (Inv) BYGGLEK
201 Parts, 2020
Sets: IKEA

For this set, Dorling Kindersley would be appropriate because there probably
are and will be more otherwise-unclassifiable sets like it:

Set No: 11959 Name: Parts for Build Your Own LEGO Escape Room (Book b22other03) polybag
*
11959-1 (Inv) Parts for Build Your Own LEGO Escape Room (Book b22other03) polybag
49 Parts, 2022
Sets: Universal Building Set: Basic Model

Fortunately, a simple fix here would be to change the titles of the categories
these sets are already in. Thank you.

So apparently there's a new security feature. If you click around too much
in one store, you're locked out from all stores on the website. Unknown
for how long. It just happened about 30 minutes ago to me. All stores now show
the same thing.

Instead of sorting through customer feedback, could I interest you in a new

I don't have this figure and thus cannot be certain of the correct skin color.

But . . . couldn't we do just a little better than "dark skin" as
a description??

  As far as I know, the submitter does not get
notified that his item is approved and added to the catalog

This is correct and is a flaw in the website.

  Since this was his work and effort, he deserves to also obtain the points related
to corresponding inventory change(s)

Catalog credits are relatively meaningless. Not completely, but mostly. As
proof, I've attached a screenshot of users who submitted successful inventory
change requests and were then erased from the system by BrickLink.

If you like seeing your username on a credits wall . . . I guess just enjoy it
while you still can. Because someday we'll all be gone and BrickLink will
erase our identities. And they will not look back or feel bad about it at all,
I promise.

  otherwise I think it is unfair

I understand that point of view because I used to hold it myself.

However, the inventory system is more complicated than the catalog system and
a fair number of users do not follow up with inventory change requests. These
parts would be orphaned for months or years (I found both in these recent requests)
if someone did not take the initiative to get them into inventories.

  So I think regardless of who submits the inv. change request, the submitter of
the item should be notified and be given the chance to submit the corresponding
change request

I completely agree.

But . . . instead of the LEGO Group making this happen for contributors, I am
really hoping the BrickLink website gets more of what someone in marketing has
decided would be best for us.

If not maybe it it hard to disassemble?

It did come assembled for display purposes. I've never had the part, so
I can't speak to the ease of disassembly.

I was hoping we could either attach it to the sets in which it came or mark it
for deletion.

LEGO employees already manage the catalog. And yes, this already affects what
is included or left out of the catalog. See the V22 Osprey anywhere? That's
just one of many examples I could give.

  In short, a Catalog independant of LEGO is much much better IMHO - even if it's
always late on something or many things.

I'm not sure which catalog you're speaking of, but it is absolutely
not the BrickLink catalog (which is unquestionably owned and completely under
the control of the LEGO Group).
