I have submmited a miniature Mountain Fortress for the BDP series1minibuild competition,
and have now waited 6 days for approval without any progress, not even a part
list.

It didn't even get any views! (Existing views are my own)

Other mini Mountain Fortresses posted later than mine were approved long ago.

I reposted it yesterday, but still nothing going on.

The build's size is: 5.5 x 10.5 x 7.5 studs and built with 111 pieces, both
within the maximum requirements.

Keeping strictly to the BDP Series 1-4 Palettes' parts and colours and is
fully buildable in real life, as per the requirements, including enabling 'partial
access'.

Has this item been correctly submitted?

I am asking for any type of advice, because I would really like to enter into
the competition but the end date is fast approaching.

Here is the submition:

Hi,

You seem not to be alone in that case: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/gallery.page?s=series1minibuild
gives 53 results while there’s only 6 designs on the Activity page: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/gallery.page?tab=activities

The thing is, your design is Display Only at the moment but it needs to be Partial
Access or Full Access for the Activity/contest, and that means that:
1. You correctly set the option when you published (you can still change it).
2. It’s been accepted by the team: Partial and Full are always verified for IP
infrigement and such.

Considering the numbers, I’d say the team is back-logged at the moment (but then
when aren’t they?), so it may take a couple days or more.

I started collecting the parts to the Wild West Saloon (BL19004-1) but discovered
that there are no instructions online. The lego instruction app also doesn't
have them. Would anyone on here be willing to take some photos or make a video?

I'd love to build it but there doesn't seem to be instructions anywhere.

Thank you!

Exactly the same problem here. I am using a 13" MacBook Pro from 2018 with

It would be great again if there would be another update that could delete everything
at once for the Costum Parts, so that you don't have to delete everything
individually every time. Or is there a way to delete it all at once?

Hi,

First, the programme is not “invitational” any more.  Anybody can submit.  That
means BrickLink won’t contact a designer to include their MOC in the programme
like it was done previously.  It’s for the designers to decide to submit their
designs in the BDP.

Then, designs that failed on Ideas can be submitted… but they still have to follow
the rules/guidelines ( https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/faq.page
https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/guidelines.page ).
And one of the rules is that BDP doesn’t allow designs based on third-party IP
at the moment.

That means any brand, trademark, recognizable design or character is fo.
That includes:
— LEGO’s own IP: NINJAGO, DREAMzz, etc.
— IP LEGO already has a licence for: Star Wars, Batman, etc.
— And (even more) IP LEGO doen’t have a licence: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
(which is the intellectual property of, I guess, Ian Flemming’s estate and United
Artists (part of MGM, part of Amazon)).

The only exceptions are the use of some old LEGO IP: the Lion and Falcon medieval
factions and Classic Space (astronauts and ship liveries).

That may change one day ( https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?p=29234#p29234
) but I think it will still be very limited (for instance to IP LEGO already
has).

Hi,

In the FAQ ( https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/faq.page ):

If I submitted a project to LEGO IDEAS that reached 10,000 supporters and
was NOT approved, or if my project expired before reaching 10k, may I submit
to BrickLink Designer Program?]/b]

Yes. If your submission meets the BDP Series 1 Submission Guidelines, you may
submit a design already submitted to LEGO IDEAS, provided it has either reached
10k and was NOT approved, or it has Expired and is no longer active on LEGO IDEAS.
You may not submit a design that is currently active on LEGO IDEAS. You MAY NOT
delete an active model from LEGO Ideas to submit to BDP.”

According to Ideas’s terms, “expired” means that the design didn’t reach the
number of supporters before the time limits.  It does not seem to be about the
rights ownership.

Also note the last sentence: deleting the design from Ideas doesn’t make it “expired”
and available to BDP.

Unless you've sold the rights to your design, then they are yours to do with
as you please. As you are inferring the model is nearly three years old, I would
check that all your parts/colours are available in the upcoming/current BDP parts
catalog/palette if you wish to enter it. Lots of common (and not so common) parts
are not available for BDP as Lego may not be using them in consumer products
in the next year or two. If you set up Studio correctly with the recent BDP palette
and turn on recommended settings, you will be informed if parts/colours are no
longer available - if so, you will have to make changes.

Go for it!

1. They call it “crowdfunding” but it’s more “pre-orders.”  If they have enough
pre-orders, the sets are produced.

2. There’s nothing to “crowdfund” or pre-order before February 2024.
That will be for the 5 finalists of the BDP Series 1 that were voted for a
few weeks ago.

Do they just find existing heads and torsos that resemble what they are trying
to achieve? And how does this work with themes that include IP from some other
source not licensed by LEGO? For example, there's a Mr. Roger's Neighborhood
set. As far as I can tell, LEGO never made a Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood set.
So how does the designer and LEGO deal with the licensing issue (the likeness,
the TV set, the names, etc. ) to display it on their Ideas website before it's
an official set and before LEGO has licensed that IP?

Also, do the Ideas designers print custom stickers or do they only use existing
decorated peices? And if they print stickers that include another company's
IP that LEGO has not licensed, how are they able to display those?

Thanks!

I suggest you have a read of the rules and regulations on the IDEAS site. They
explain everything there.

LEGO Ideas doesn’t have limitations on the parts used (colours & decors, I don’t
think you can use totally inexistent bricks).

The chosen designs are completely re-designed by LEGO (sometimes, according to
some, the results are not looking much like the submissions).

Submissions are limited to IPs in the sense that you won’t be chosen if you use
IP that LEGO already has (Harry Potter, Star Wars…).  You also won’t be chosen
if LEGO can’t (or won’t) acquire the IP.

BDP is limited to a palette of parts available when the sets will be produced
by LEGO.

One can make their own stickers (but not on minifigs).

The designs are not re-designed by LEGO.  They are _checked_ (and produced and
sold) by LEGO and small changes may be done but the goal is to have real AFOL-designed
products.

BDP is “no-IP” at all.  That includes IP LEGO already has rights for (Harry Potter,
Star Wars…) but also LEGO’s IP (NINJAGO…).  There’s tolerance for Classic Space
or Castle themes.

program submission to be approved? I submitted it about a week ago and I haven’t
heard anything since.

See this thread on the Studio/BDP forum: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=9045

I was just like a bit concerned it might not get approved in time for the deadline!

Don’t fear.  What counts for the deadline is the submission date, not the approval.

I have received an automated message that one piece is not from the «pick-a-brick-palette».
It is only a single tiny tile 1 by 1.

Unfortunately I can't find out what this color ID means:

Identifier: 3070b

Color: 2

Is it blue, yellow, green or light bluish green
Have not used other colors.

PLS HELD

Colour 2 would be Tan… but that’s in the BDP2 palette.
(Or Green if it’s the LDraw colour code, which is also in the BDP2 palette.)

Check your model in Studio following this post: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8342&p=25885#p25881

If you think it’s an error, try sending an e-mail to bdpsupport@lego.com .

2 is the color ID for Tan

Light bluish green doesn’t exist on BL.

I just submitted a model but realized after submission that I made a mistake,
I selected that I previously submitted the model in series 1 when I did not.
Is there any way to change that?

The process changed.  I won’t explain the previous programs (AFOL & BDP invitational’s
3 rounds) because it’s too late anyway.
So, here a summary of how BDP Series works now.

A series is:

1. 1 month for submitting your designs.

2. A couple weeks for voting, “crowd support.”

3. Selection.  Up to 5 designs are chosen as “finalists.”

4. 9 months to finalize the final designs (with LEGO’s help).

5. 1 month of “crowd support”: you can pre-order the sets.  Up to 20k sets are
sold, 2 of each per pre-buyer.  Sets that don’t reach 3k pre-orders are not produced
at all.

6. 6 months for production by LEGO.

7. Shipping.

So, as a buyer, what interests you is:
— step 2: you vote between hundreds of designs,
— step 5: you pre-order the 5 finalists, 11 months later,
— step 7: you receive your sets, 6 months later.

Series 1 is in step 4.  You’ll be able to pre-order in February.
Series 2 is starting step 1 today.
Series 3 will start step 1 in September.
And so on.

I think the Lego Ideas designers (or whatever group chooses the winners) are
to blame, they shoot down and deny so many good sets & always end up choosing
the same mundane crap that ends up being discounted a month into its release

At this point Ideas has become a pop culture theme, almost half of the sets are
based on movies/TV/video games - why they still call it "Ideas" is beyond
me as they seem to hate original designs 95% of the time

I do really like this one though I admit my tastes are unusual:

I was going to post about that when it came out. It's simple yet impressive.
Reminds me of some of the t-shirts from the 80's. Can't remember if
they were Ocean Pacific or not, but they had horizontal color bar similar to
these.

Ocean Pacific/Trapper Keeper vibes for sure.

I like the Old Train Engine Shed. I would really have loved to see some more
variety here like vehicles or art/sculptures. However, I understand that buildings
are a solid choice. With the next round coming up so soon, I am hopeful to see
what's next.

In the past programs, I got a fire truck, a fish tank, and a train station. I
think the Clockwork Aquarium is my favorite so far.

Oh, I forgot about the Science Tower! Okay, I have two favorites.

Any guesses on the price?

Mountain Fortress, 3986 pcs, 0 stickers, my guess $429.99 USD

Parisian Street, 3465 pcs, 16 stickers, my guess $399.99 USD

The Old Train Engine Shed, 2298 pcs, 10 stickers, my guess $279.99 USD

The Snack Shack, 548 pcs, 3 stickers, my guess $59.99 USD

General Store – Wild West, 1848 pcs, 4 stickers, my guess $199.99 USD

Parisian Street looks nice.

Tired of all the castles. Very boring.

As a railroad enthusiast (or 'railfan' as we're referred to here
in the USA), the Old Train Engine Shed would be the set I would want for my LEGO
collection so I could display my 10277 Crocodile Locomotive next to it... but
even if it does sell for $279.99 USD, that is way too much for me.

I feel like I've been through the part list several times and I can't

Ensure you've got decorated parts showing in the palette - I made this mistake
too (I don't tend to use decortated parts and they slow down my searches.

Click the Lego brick next to the "Thumbnail Size" icon (next to the Search
Parts box) above the palette. It should be striped to see the decorated parts.
Horse, Cow, Dog, Cat, Squirrel etc. etc. are all there.

Thank you so much!

Yep. This is why I don't like all these "ideas" things and copycat

There needs to be an easier way to vote (either up vote or down vote) EVERY
design for Series 2. You either need to be able to do a slideshow-type navigation
where you go from one design to the next without having to go back to the main
page, or you need to be able to vote for each design from the thumbnail page.
There were too many designs to click and down-vote all the ones I didn't
like and then go back to the list and click on the next one and vote and go back
to the list and so on and so forth. So I only clicked on the ones I liked enough
to up-vote them and didn't vote on any of the others.

Hi,

Please see the help page[1] or the Parts FAQ[2] on Studio’s dedicate forum[3]

Especially since in the rules they encouraged you to stay away from things that
have already been done and we got another castle build and another train themed
set. They are both cool, just not sure what the take away is.

Hi,

There’s an automatic recently used parts widget: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5459489060247-Recently-Used-Parts

And you can make also make your custom palettes: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5456164357527-Custom-palette

You can also create custom palettes from:
— official LEGO sets: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5457935385239-Importing-an-official-LEGO-set-as-a-palette

Use BrickStore to make your palette (free, open source).

Then you can build this:

looking at when to open the bags. That's what I tend to do with suspicious
opened larger sets.

They are, and some numbers match several bags. I'll check the instructions.

All you are left with is going through the instructions. They show 25 numbered
bags. You will need to check the first page of each bag's instructions to
see if additional items are indicated. Check that you have all that and you are
good to go.

Thanks, I'll check instructions for additional items.

Wow! I didn't know it was owned by Lego. That's great! Thanks!

they were and are made and sold by lego. they are all official bricks

Yes.

And what’s said on the Program’s page is “We produce the sets in the factory”
(my emphasis).
I guess it’s because the very first program, the ADP /AFOL Designer Program,
in 2018, was made before BrickLink entered the LEGO Group.  It also used LEGO
parts, but the sets were packed by BrickLink (by hand).
“The factory” is a bit weird though, as there’s multiple LEGO factories.

Anyway, LEGO BrickLink, LEGO parts, LEGO sets

Just checked the instructions, 25.

Often sets have multiples of bags with the same number so that usually isn’t
always accurate

Of course, silly me!

I can't answer your question as I didn't get that set, but my sets recently
arrived and the deliver service destroyed my sets as well. Nothing like getting
limited edition sets and having punctured boxes. I call Lego and they gave me
point to my account which didn't amount to much, but since they can't
replace the sets at least it was something.

Yes, they added 3k points to my account, better than nothing but I can't
stand damaged boxes, all the more when the parcel isn't damaged.

Don't know, but maybe you can weigh the box with content. Should be 4332gr
total

Thanks for this idea. My scale measured 4342g, that's a good point.

Also, there’s no rush: it’s not a pre-command yet

My submission was just approved, but there seems to be a glitch with the name

"Stables & Inn". I am guessing the submission didn't properly
translate my "&", as the amp is likely short for ampersand, which is
the name for &, and as I definitely didn't type that. It appears normally
elsewhere, but would give a bad first impression for the crowd vote since the
title is the first thing they see.

If anyone has any ideas or can help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The post starts with “The alert is just a warning.”

Thank you very much, I was just able to try submit it again and it worked no
problem. Not sure why it didn't work last time, may have been something with
my outdated Chrome browser, I used a different browser this time. I'm glad
the warning wasn't an actual issue like I thought.

Good

Happy building

I already tried doing what that post suggested before I posted this, but unfortunately
it's still not working. It shows that there is no issues but when I try upload
I get the error message. Any other ideas?

Read the second link, especially this post: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8641#p27053

Also, I feel honored to
get a reply from the BDP Project Manager , thanks for the time and hope you
enjoy the submissions.
