sounds like everything already decided.
sould like mama Lego imposed it or else.
fearing instant community backlash, someone came up with the idea.
if we let them talk, they wont revolt.
let a week of mourning, then move on.
boss said it, so we do it.

and us, why do we waste 2 hundreds messages on that non-negotiable nerf

Please NO.

We actually need more/better handling of variants.
We should recognize more variants right now.
BL already behind Rebrickable on variant handling. behind. a lot. really.

Fanta orange

Nothing sounds more bricklinkish than naming colors in spite of Bigplasticorp
directives.

I still remember when someone tackled a new entry with a blunt "alien pee
green"... lol... and it was a yellow at that time... rofl.

Keep up the good humour pals.

while we wait for Ryan to pop up...

what if it's not the pigment, but the material?

I. An overweight brick is less durable. When it falls or is thrown around (think
kid's play) it can crack or break open.

II. If I were at Lego, I would have made it in polypropilene (or polystirene).
A less rigid plastic -- can resist more impacts and play.

III. Like Bionicle! So here's a cheap test: find a *blue bionicle part and
compare under UV.

If you keep them 10/10, they'll be easy to sell.

I have better idea. Is there already a set which sports just "basic"
bricks?
Here

Set No: 10654 Name: Classic XL Creative Brick Box
*
10654-1 (Inv) Classic XL Creative Brick Box
1600 Parts, 2016
Sets: Classic
go grab its inventory, or partout into one wanted list, easy enought!

While you're at it, consider all the "classic" category:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=9&catString=423&catType=S&v=1
it's full of basic set you can use as inspiration.

If "basic" means "basic colors" for you, or if you're just
"that old", here:

Set No: 2456 Name: Big Bulk Box
*
2456-1 (Inv) Big Bulk Box
900 Parts, 1998
Sets: Universal Building Set: Classic Basic

more functional differences (here starts the usual forum disagreements)

new 2780 vs old 2780: when poked, new mould don't roll out of table, it stops
all by itself. "anti roll notch" for the win

any 2708 vs 4459: 4459 is concrete-like. a pain to remove from bricks. And if
you ever used them to join holed bricks, poor you. 1 is hard, 2 is rock solid,
3 is Heracles labour. 3 pins and it's game over. talk about "pinned in
place"

the part is very visible in this model

in retrospect, even box art was precise enough to tell the mould.

YES to make a cat entry

It's nor just the text, the supplier is new. So the inner working is surely
different.

Past Catmins made new entries when suppliers changed.

Triangles were used by at least 2 knock-off brands. You should investigate a
bit more.

color comparison next to an older item: observe
luminosity: is plastic shiny?
walls: are they thinner?
pip: where's the pip?
reflections under oblique light: observe
text font and italicization: observe

Nah, if you already have two CSV, it's like a plain .txt

So just use that https://www.diffchecker.com/

In Help, Mr_Fusion writes:
  Thanks for the answer.
I heard from that function in Rebrickable and I tried to get something out of
it, but I guess you have to be registered there to use it. Otherwise, the compare
function don't seem to work, at least not with custom part lists. ( https://rebrickable.com/sets/compare/slow/)
I know there is a way to compare .csv files in Exel sheets but I'm not familiar
with this and of course it should generate an new and usable part list with all
the altered parts in relation to the original model. So it can be used in Bricklink.
Hmm... sounds like a job for my buddy, he is fit in coding. Maybe he can write
a tool for comparing .csv or .xml part lists. ^^"

I politely ask if we can somohow promote this wondrous flag to a general option,
so it stays the same for every page, every day we spend on BL.

Took some digging to find this one. I did not expect the singular 'Pin 3L'
but was expecting the plural 'Pins'.

doesn't feel like 3L pin plus mods, but a pin/pins connector maybe?

reverse argument. original post shows an AXLE 3L with pin connection, why not?

I tried adding in cart and it asked me to buy 64 sets in one shot. lol
I don't get the x64. is it a trick?
if first customer really buys 64 sets, then just 36 remains, not another 64.
second customer must go all-in on 36 sets, I guess.
so max 2 customers allowed to get rid of a truckload of lego sets.
is it valid economic strategy in this market?

Thank you for your perspective
I suspect yours are a "darker yellow" we seen in the past, not Light
Orange.
Anyway I liked your input, these examples show the confusion is even greater.
You may post pics with your parts and true Light Orange to show the point.

I believe, based on my direct xp, Light orange axles means FAKE.
My xp: I have received 1 axle like yours in one order from a certain XXX store
in Germany.
Since the order had several fakes (all technic) it was easy to decide. Especially
after putting it near my other 50 yellow axles, it was clearly off the scale.
For reference I ordered one yellow axle 5L. Apart the colour, it was also opaque
like different plastic, no numbers on axle ends.
More fakes for same German seller/order here, with randyf authoritative comments
are here

If fakers are this proficient now, we're screwed.

Look at that PIP inside the lego letters, sooo tiny & clean.
In the past I posted some pics of fakes (for more knowledge start here https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1414759),
where the pips were just ugly enough that you can really spot fakes at a glance.

If our last resource consists in font style or font weight, oh
boy, we're doomed yes. Checking Lego will be so time wasting and cumbersome
that we can't keep up.

If true, fakers won. They got to the point that they can impose us so much work
to catch "fakes", that a significant portion of their products will consistently
slip into the "real" world.

They could have done a bigger damage by doing less by just mass discounting the
thing as they did and... stop right here. Just watch it burn:
In a blitz you would have a hundred orders at total loss for you, since the prices.
when you realize, you would try to cancel everything, and face a hundred of potential
negative feedbacks. Store ruined for sure.

It didn't happen. Because of the "million" thing. They do know how
and where to put a critical number, just one, lazy as it sounds, but necessary
to avoid a worse outcome.
The 1.000.000 acted as safeguard.

imho employee revenge, but with care. You get the scare, but no loss.

toothed bushes 4265 is the most painful to my hands to separate!

Ow ow ow! Can't do it lol

Lucky you, the past owner built it wrong. the 4265a should have been upside down,
teeth against teeth, for a deadly challange.

this way you can rotate the pins. if do it first, you gain the first invisible
separation (order of microns really). after a turn they really become softer
so now apply your preferred method to pull... fingernails, brick separator, axle
pushing...

Continuing my journey into sorting an order riddled with fakes...

Can you spot the "4" in a different font from Lego?
you may add that the pip was bigger, deeper, uglier?
or that is was moved to another place? yeah should have been over the "4"

response: 2 on the left are fake. 2 on the right are legit.
I'k kidding you. Real giveaway is that angled #4 should not exist in Blue

Part No: 32192 Name: Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Angled #4 - 135 degrees

pic 2 is here to show more suspicious imperfections near axle hole.

new details, more problems:

pic1. reference is on top. the suspicious item:
- has pip between hole 4 and 5 (as said in post1)
- has narrower gorges, walls quasi-touching
- is a little darker than normal blue

pic2. under incident light, the suspicious item
- has 4 new ridges on side. could this give away its moulding process?
In backgroud the reference beam is total smooth but you also find the pip there,
as said in post1.

still legit or worse?

thanks randyipp

on rounded egdes: the 2 rounded ends (left and right) are ok, smooth. the round
holes for pins are less quality, or used a lot, hard to say. Pins slide in with
ease.

are there other details to check?

In Help, randyipp writes:

These beams i bought have a pip placed between holes, instead of laying on the

Absence of (C)
Absence of Lego

what u think?

I don't think the pip can be used definitively in parts that are still in
production as they may have changed. I think it is the first indicator to make
you suspect a clone part though as the pip locations seems to rarely change.

In these cases you can usually determine fake part by closely examining the details
of the items, particularly with a loupe. The rounded edges are usually the biggest
giveaway of clone parts that seem close but lack that attention to detail Lego
is famous for.

top item: No logo, one number: 694-01

bottom: No logo, many single-digit numbers in varios crevices, like 1 3 5 7,
and a (C) for copyright.

still no idea what brand is the topmost, but 694-01 seems a format XXX-YY never

I feel they will be very near TR MEDIUM BLUE.
my bet: they are near to MEDIUM than LIGHT.

The op can check the MABS hypothesis: newer microprints + feeling at touch

I bet you they do not look like Trans-Medium Blue when compared directly to Trans-Medium

The bottom ones may be the newer (2018+) MABS plastic, after the switch from

I really like both.
I would also like to buy more of them.
Just waiting for Lego to do more of the tricky, moc-heavy parts in these colors.
But there's also the issue of old parts, ceased production, which won't
ever be remade and this hurts a lot of ideas.

I havent seen even basic parts ( 3001, 3003, 3004 or 3005) in this new color
and we already changing names.

There's a 3d on eurobricks detailing 4 shades of Trans-Clear.
4 shades
1 name for all
No name change there, why???

We deserve 4 names for Trans-Clear if you do Trans-Brown today. Change my mind!

1) you need to learn categories first. E.g. what are ? If you pass
this then:
2) add item, set item type=part, wait for categories to populate...
3) select the right category from the list
4) in the search field start typing the part number. The bottom list starts narrowing
as you type ...
5) select the item you foubd
6) select color
7) select remaining items in the bottom row. At least decide the QTY

Only works good if you have many items in a few categories and the categories
are trivial to know.

If you have only part numbers, just
1) open https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=
2) search for the item number alone
2) click it to load its page, await loading
3) use the tiny blue link "add to my wanted list" in the center
4) in the modal vox, select the list, compile qty.... finally Add.

I usually prefer this way because the loaded page says a lot at a glance: if
other molds could be usable, if the color exists, if it is readily avaiable.
Its slowee tough

I have these 2 Light Gray 4085a. They are the unusual darker grey colour from
the early 1980's (pictured next to standard Light Grey).

When selling these, should i list them specifically being this shade of grey?
Are there collectors looking for this colour particularly?

I can see that there are a number available for sale in Dark Bluish Grey when
they never existed, so it is obvious that they get mixed up quite often. Don't
want someone complaining that i sent them the wrong colour.

Cheers

Any time a color is strange, put a comment. Even a "light/dark variant" is enough
for me. You can even upload pics in inv, if you don't dare to name the thing,
just write "see pic for special color"

In fear that after that msg, scammers will list just two Lukes and relist it
every time sold. Sigh
Don't we have better methods? Like, alcohol can wash the fake ink while real
Lego won't? Just asking

We're nearing the 20M order! I have no way to know the last order, but I
feel like we're within the last 1% before finish line... it's happening
in any moment.
And so, time for statistics. last 10M orders in like, 4yrs? BL is accelerating,
like an universe.

I can confirm that MILKY WHITE exists, i have 2 in my collection, out of 30 classic
LG.

But I got them from big czech reseller, i never saw them in boxes, and these
parts does not sport any (C), nor microprints that were invented 20yrs later,
so who knows, can't be sure 100% atm.

Anyway I never saw a veryLG cable. I doubt they exists, I bet on collectors don't
know what to make of a strange LG.

Well I think you can simply go to EBAY and look if and when your minifig got
sold here too.

Also, a lot of my preferred sellers put the business card and the receipt into
the envelope, which the dropshipper can't do anything about because it's
inside!

So if I were a ebay buyer, I would instantly know I were ripped off because I
see the real price (lower) and I will get the url from the card, land here and
use BL from that point on. bye bye ebay

But how on earth a minifig lover is so advanced in Lego lore to collect them
and so noob to use EBAY, that defeats me.

This?

YES but in settings https://www.bricklink.com/v2/settings/pref_settings.page

so we can assign a default size for ALL wantedlists we open everyday

Ah yes, me too

First open a list: ordered by color.
Change to 100 items: ordered by item name.

I would love to control that in

and it almost never shows up

Just a bug.

https://www.bricklink.com/v3/user/settings/shopping.page only works if you make
a search first.

I set it up in v2, now it's in v3 and apparently my settings didn't go
through and are reset to default

Oh, I didn’t even notice it was v3: I just clicked My Shopping Settings in My
Settings.

If by “v2” you mean you used the link in a shop… then it’s the same page/form,
it’s just shown in a frame.

And I think it’s simply that all the new pages are now “v3.”

OK, I'll do it again and try what you say.

Another “fun” thing: with Wanted Lists, the sort box says “Item name,” but the
default order is “Color, whatever.”  So when you open a WL, items are sorted
by colour… and if you change the number of items per page, poof, they are now
sorted as the box says.

When searching for SOME color of parts, we often find things that are counterparts
of themselves, and not real other parts that can fit into the role.

look at that:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=4185&colorID=5&in=A

An experienced fellow told me it's because the part be inside an assembly.

I suggest this should be more clearly stated.

I suggest:
a) a new section at the end (e.g after "appears as regular" "appears as extra"
"appears as counterpart") named "APPEARS INSIDE ASSEMBLIES"

b) enrich the text, from "2 in 1234-1(inv)"
"2 as assembly 4158c01(inv) in 1234-1(inv)"
giving us a way to see the assembly, plus go into its contents.

I just visited a store, choosed newest items and then adjusted pagesize=50
I saved the link to return after a while, to see more items.

I tried to reopen it now and BL doesn't understand it... i'm back to
homepage of store
(e.g. page=25 and no ordering)

Try it yourself

Look at the set inventory.

I've a precise electronic scale - 1/100 grams.

Well I think this was a recent variant, because today I found an older speciment.

This old guy is 42.11g.
The newer one was 41.27g.
I double checked today. same scale, same setup.

How could we submit that in the catalog? 2 weights for same part, plus the know-how
to distinguish between older and newer variant.
