Not sure if any other US based stores are experiencing this and/or if it's

I purchased a set of the first three Maersk sets (1650-1,1651-2,1552-1) from
a former Maersk Employee. It had 2 copies of Black 3002old Brick 2 x 3 without
Cross Supports. Which is why

Parts: Brick, Decorated
is in black.

Sets: Boat

* Change {2 to 1} Part Black 3002old Brick 2 x 3 without Cross Supports
* Change {11 to 12} Part White 3002old Brick 2 x 3 without Cross Supports

Comments from Submitter:
This set has two competing designs for the main models: the box cover and the instructions shows a build with a shorter funnel, while if you follow the steps in the instructions it requires one extra 2 x 3 brick. After surveying multiple sets the pattern is for sets in the best condition to come with only x1 black 2 x 3 brick with the stickers attached to a white 2 x 3 brick. Personally I suspect the copies with the stickers attached to a black brick are probably the result of people building the set like depicted on the instruction cover.

The 2 instructions show them to be the same part number.

Maybe someone cut them shorter for a project? I've done that before with
a razor knife.

In Catalog, WOLKsite writes:
All of my 23221 are noticeably different in length (and longer than what the
name describes). Is this a common issue?
Four of these (all except the shortest one, the ones with the brighter green
rubber bands - I don't believe those are LEGO bands) are from a used copy
of 7690. The other one is from my 2007 copy of set 7691.

Of course, it is very hard to make these not bend so much... The baseplate in
the image is 48x48. The brick separators mark the lengths when straightened outs.
This increased length has pretty significant impact on 7690, putting quite a
lot of stress on the bricks. The shortest one is just short of 33 studs long,
the longest is 40.

LEGO describes these as 252 mm (31.5 studs).

If you will look at the bottom of the Bricklink inventory, there is an explanation
for this.

Note:

Redesigned during production.

There are at least two different versions of instructions for this set. The differences
for the second version are indicated in this inventory in the Alternate Items
section with Match ID 99.

Quick overview of redesign: In the cockpit module various parts are added to
strengthen the build. In the track assembly two black 3708 Technic, Axle 12 are
replaced by four black 6558 Technic, Pin 3L with Friction Ridges Lengthwise,
enabling the tracks on each side to move independently from each other.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are numerical errors in the parts lists in the instructions for both versions
of this set. The early version of the instructions incorrectly lists only one
pair of minifigure legs, but two are included. It also lists 13 dark bluish gray
32291 Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular Double, but only 12 were
included. The later version of the instructions incorrectly lists one black 6558
Technic, Pin 3L with Friction Ridges Lengthwise, but 18 are included.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The dark bluish gray 32523 Technic, Liftarm 1 x 3 Thick in the later version
of the set has also been found in dark gray. The black 6538b Technic, Axle Connector
2L (Ridged with x Hole x Orientation) have also been found in the set as 6538c
Technic, Axle Connector 2L (Smooth with x Hole + Orientation).
In Help, upscomic writes:

I'm using are different than the inventory on bricklink. One example is a
white 1 x 4 tile. There are other differences but I'm not familiar with bricklink
magic. I hope one of you are.

No condition = complete though, as you can set them to Incomplete like you suggested
to them.

Now that I think about it, did the CMFs change in how they were inventoried meaning
you couldn't set incomplete on more recent series (and this is what you meant
about not having a condition like Sealed)? Or does the Incomplete condition remain
hidden on those but still are set that way?

All of your CMFs are listed as complete but with no foil/instructions (all 168
different lots). On top of that, many of your listings say you don't include
the extra parts.

Why would you recommend they do the opposite?

  Greeting Bricklink,

Is there a general consensus on how we should sell the Marvel Series 2 CMFs now
that they're in stupid boxes? Are you sending the boxes with the figs, if
sold as a "new", "complete" set, like the foil bags? Or just
ditching them entirely? Has anyone sold a complete set of 12? I imagine the buyer
does not want 12 boxes.

Thanks for any feedback.

Wow, that is really great, a very useful page! Basically they are the same. The
blue box seems to sell for more than the black box so if you don't have the
boxes you might just as well sell a set under the blue box link rather than the
black box link. Must be the box that is the difference? Thanks!

But mine is 2000423-1 for the medium one ?

That picture definitely shows 2000473 in between 2000472 and 2000474

Maybe they have used different numbers in different years or locations. The
2000422 also appears clear on the one in the catalogue. From the ones listed,
it looks like sellers are using it as a catch-all listing.

having parted out dozens of this set in the past, I believe you have one with
a packing error. I worked with Gary on validating the appearance of the 300old

But what we pulled from a sealed sticker-pouch is the other way around - we got
three white sheets and two grey ones.

Maybe someone recalls having the same issue, or perhaps have seen/bought second-had
sets with the stickered containers matching this pattern?

I wonder if this is just a freak accident and no alternate variant is needed
in the inventory, or we do actually need to add the variant. If this has happened
before - there might be used sets floating around that are 'invalid/incomplete'
due to this.

Additionally. The 2006 variant (10152-3), apparently, had some hiccups with the
production because of TLG being short on some parts? Read:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1022655

Perhaps they were short on more than one thing, resulting in shipping sets with
different counts of the sticker sheets as well?

Several points.

Anything that thin but large sent Ground will get caught in the machines and
damaged. If sent Priority, they process it differently. But the dimensional weight
for Priority tends to kick in.

It's why I stopped selling them. Particularly a packing issue if they order
anything else but the baseplate. Add a couple of bricks and the package gets
big or you have to ship in 2 packages. Either way gets expensive for the customer.

In Shipping, macebobo writes:

It should not trigger dimensional weight if it is 18"x18"x2" = 3/8
ft³, so I am not understanding why it would be more expensive than regular GA
shipments. Please help me understand since I don't want a surprise when I
sell one.

Creator sets 20%
vintage sealed Castle 80%

Also, it all depends on whether someone is going to part them out or sell them
as sets. Sets are easier to sell but can take longer to get your investment back.

  Hi there,

I need some help / advice.

I was browsing bricklink for a seller who sells 2 small identical lego pieces
that are very rare in the color i need them and they were only released in 1
set that has been gone for over 15 years. I lost them and want to complete the
set again.

I found them with a seller who has 90 of them, They came with 3 including the
spare in the set. This seller does not sell any other distinguishable items that
came with this set, Including the minifigures etc so i do not think this seller
parted out 30 of this now 300 usd set
The feedback of this seller is 99+ and more then 200 orders

How big is the chance the item on stock is not genuine Lego? Do rare original
parts turn up after years as left overs ?
Do all lego parts have a way of identifying them as the real thing?
I assume the seller has no bad intentions and if the part is no original lego
is not aware of this

I understand that me not mentioning the part makes it a bit vague but if i am
wrong i do not want the seller to feel offended.

could be some Lego store owner died & his distant relatives ( who had no clue
he had a Lego sstore ) just sold off his stuff at a yard sale in box lots.

having 1 or 100 single parts from a set does not entail the seller bought complete
sets. i buy 20 pound bulk lots & sort them. random bricks tossed in a bin.
it's fun.

i run into tons of rare parts, doubt any of them are significantly from the same
sets on any noticeable scale. but that doesn't not mean they are fake parts
just because accompanying parts from those sets aren't being sold as well.

but, yeah, i would say keep seller/ item anonymous... if your wrong, offending
them isn't going to be your problem, it wold be the Defamation on your part
you would need to focus on..

These are "Chrome" hilts before they have been chromed. (All Chromed
parts are molded slightly smaller since they have to account for the chrome thickness
to still meet the same final size tolerance.)

In Catalog Identification, Turez writes:

The top five are what appears to be the oldest versions, being light gray, light
bluish gray, and chrome plates - which match up with part #23306 as they have
no line/ring on the bottom of the hilt.

The middle five have the ring and the top of said ring is rounded - matching
these up with part #64567.

The bottom five have a line/ring, but the top of that line/ring is not rounded
like the five above them. So, I’m not sure what number to group these under.
Does this mean that there is a third variation that’s not listed on rebrickable
or bricklink or these are just variations on 64567?

The international versions have nothing to do with where the set was released.
It has to do with where it's printed. There are different paper standards.
Like we in the US use 8.5x11 as a standard sheet and Europe uses A4. So the printing
template needs to be different.

In Catalog Requests, nbrumby writes:

But the numbers printed on the bottom are different than the item above:

Maybe an "international version"?

I added this item / inventory originally & I’m in the UK.

However the item image was updated by a user in the USA.

One is molded clear and the color. The other is molded clear and painted. Painted
makes it decorated.

Parts: Door

Part No: 826 Name: Door 1 x 3 x 4 Right with Window

Is there a good reason why the 1x3x3 doors are in the "Door, Decorated"
category, but the 1x3x4s are plain doors?
Cheers,
Patrick

Any set that is not complete, I am going to automatically assume it's the

notice that the parts list in upper left differs from the part to the right.
So it's just rendered wrong.

parts list in back also shows without clips on 4 corners

In Inventories, BricksThatStick writes:
  In Catalog Requests, aboyer writes:
  Howdy folks,
In reassembling a 7586 which has been grown out of, I noticed that the clear
glass panes in the oven don't seem to make sense. The inventory in the back
of book 5 lists 2 x 4521279. Bricklink lists the corresponding 2 x 6063.

Part No: 60603 Name: Glass for Window 1 x 4 x 3 - Opening
*
60603 Glass for Window 1 x 4 x 3 - Opening
Parts: Window, Glass & Shutter {Trans-Clear}

However the instructions - book 3, steps 41 and 42 - clearly show glass which
clips in at all four corners.
Can it be added as an alternate or something?

The instructions just show the part drawn incorrectly - there is no alternative
part to add.

Personally I would prefer that my oven's glass door not flop open while I'm
using it.

How would you get your food out before it burns if it was clipped in at all 4
corners?

  Thanks,
Andrew

Can I see this as the same part or does it need to be catalogued separately?

Looking at the catalog images, it looks like this might be a difference between
production for the 2012 (green version?) and 2015 (black version?) sets, but
I cannot confirm that. Looking at the instructions, all use the same ElementID
so that would make it a variation and not a different part design.

If both versions of this figure are common (and I think that they are), I think
that the variations are so different that both should have their own catalog
entry. Is there a reason not to do this?

I do not have the required parts to do submit them to the catalog.

The 4 minifigures in the set alone are selling for $400+ average over the last
6 months. Depending on the amount of damage on the box, it may be a better bet
to sell it for parts or as a ship stand along and 4 minifigures. Either way
for a pickup at $325, it would be a good buy.

But wouldn't it suck if you got

Minifig No: sw0602 Name: Kanan Jarrus - Dark Brown Hair and Eyebrows
*
sw0602 (Inv) Kanan Jarrus - Dark Brown Hair and Eyebrows

sw0577 (Inv) Kanan Jarrus - Black Hair and Eyebrows

If the box were damaged enough that the seller were able to open the box I'd
have them find the bag and see which one it is, but that would just tip them
off probably and lead them to back out of the sale. It's a catch-22.

So if I bought it still sealed how would I know what figure is in there. Like
would I just resell it for around $600 and just say sealed? No indication of
which type of the kanan?

First post here. My apologies if it’s not protocol.

Trying to MOC a new x-wing. During initial build I used a “snowspeeder” listed
canopy and it fit fine. No issues.

I then had time to change the “snowspeeder” canopy to the “x-wing” one. It didn’t
fit. It would not close. They are apparently the same piece with a different
print, but when I look closely, the “tooth connectors” on the x-wing seem angled
slightly higher and so will not allow the cockpit to close.

Any thoughts? I’ve tried with several different pieces with the same result.

Again, sorry if I’m not being clear enough or this isn’t following protocol.
I will learn.

Thank you!

Wasn't there a kerfuffle about this the other day with the Ford GT 2022 being

I certainly agree with you. It was more to educate the original poster that just
because something looks Lego, it may not be.

If it was a LCP set then I'd imagine there would be a picture of the box
somewhere on the internet, or some other record rather than someone on reddit
saying it is 1/100 and someone else 1/3. They all seem to be in the same display
case, so presumably they were pre-built and put in the case rather than distributed
like a normal set or LCP set in a box.

In Price Guide, yorbrick writes:

Fair enough. So then my question how would I be able to determine if it is or
not a set made by Lego?

It is highly unlikely to be. It is a modern item. So if it was made by LEGO,
there would be some sort of packaging with the LEGO logos and a LEGO copyright
notice. There would be some trace of that somewhere on the internet.

One of the comments in the Reddit post suggests it is
officially licensed by Lego.

I wouldn't trust people on reddit without any evidence.

Is there something I can look on the figurines or
the parts that could help?

Not really, as the parts are likely to originally be genuine LEGO but then printed
by a customiser to add the Sky logo.

Would it be worth contacting Lego?

I doubt it, you'd get through to a customer service rep who would say it
is cool but that they don't know anything about it.

Legally with Friction and Support kind of. If you cross over to the Grey area
while keeping it LEGO. There are several ways.

Its clear several people have pointed out the obvious ones so I won't rehash
them.

#1 If Friction and Support isn't that much of an issue use a short piece
of Pneumatic hose or soft axle. roughly around 5-6 studs long is probably the
best way to go. as long as there is hollow space which I believe there is.. I
do not recall there being any webbing or the throat is deep enough for some length
of tubing.

Part No: 32580 Name: Hose, Soft Axle 7L
*
32580 Hose, Soft Axle 7L

might be too long

#2 While some go off as Dirty or Illegal. I have a Bin full of Broken pieces.
Sometimes the best piece is a recycled/modified piece. I have in a pinch razor
knifed studs to make male to male pieces. While in this decade we can find pieces
to get us there or close; one of my all time favorite mods to use on busted pieces
for these type of connections if space allows it was the headlight side of this
piece.

Part No: 4081a Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Light Attachment - Thin Ring
*
4081a Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Light Attachment - Thin Ring
Parts: Plate, Modified {White}
need to be the older ones with thin flange. new ones are much wider.

Interesting. A soft axle might do the trick if it was cut to the exact length
required to have some 'grip' but it will still be an illegal technique
that LEGO never would use.
Thanks anyway, appreciate your thoughts!

59 Minifigure, Weapon Sword, Greatsword Round
Parts: Minifigure, Weapon {Chrome Silver}

1. Can you kindly point me towards a related LEGO online resource?

2. To confirm, would this fall under seller ToS?

All parts listed in your store must be genuine LEGO parts in their original,
unmodified condition.

3. 90s chrome silver parts = ABS plastic & chromium coating?

4. Best method for minimal damage? Ferric chloride (chemical etching)?

Thanks for helping,

I'm mostly a buyer on here, but lately started selling some of my sets.
I'd like to keep the extra charges to a minimum, and these includ:
1. Packing Supplies
2. Now BL charges Sales Taxes
3. Shipping
4. PayPal charges

What is reasonable to charge the buyer and what is not? Example:
1. For a typical sealed box, I buy a box from Staples and add bubble wrap and
tape, the cost is easily $6-7.

reuse boxes, get free Priority boxes from the post office. They will also give
you Priority Tape.

  2. Paypal fees have gone higher lately.

Stripe, but it's not much cheaper.

  3. Shipping, I often get 2 quotes (USPS/UPS), but that takes time to go to the
post office, get the item weighed ... etc.

buy a postal scale. A good one is about $30

  4. Any way around sales taxes? (This is a hobby, not a business)

no, hobby or not, it is required to be collected.

Any input is appreciated
