Thanks everyone for your input... still no word from Admin... but I think I'll
change my terms page.
But do I allow PayPal and USA sales with taxes charged??? Or just stick with
Canada?

Hi all. I have to know why my store was suspended???!!!
If it's cause of a USA teenager who bought from my store and then said I
was a scammer cause I don't take paypal,, then this better be rectified right
away because that is allowed to not take paypal and I didn't scam anyone!!!
Admin, please contact me right away! Everyone who knows me in the LEGO community
knows who I am and I've never scammed anyone!

I also have a NPB against this teenager who shouldn't be allowed on this
site. Then their negative feedback will be removed!

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

But actually, I don't have to charge tax to USA buyers and that's legal
cause I'm in Canada. I work for a 50 year old company of sporting goods.
We only sell to Canada and USA. When a USA buyer buys from the website, they
are NEVER charged taxes and can check out with the purchase price and shipping
is the only thing added. We don't charge taxes and leave it to the boarder
and the buyer to pay the taxes if it's needed.

Dosnt the buyer pay the tax need thru bricklink now tho. Even tho the seller
isn’t required to collect it bricklink now is required to and as such the buyer
has to pay bricklink whenever they purchase thru bricklink (or any site that
deals in sales volume over x amount of dollars) so technically you wouldn’t be
collecting the sales tax but bricklink would on behalf of the buyer.

Yes maybe your right... But can't a BrickLink admin tell us about these
things and help their customers, (Us Sellers who pay their bills.), what we
need to change to make it all work out???
I'm afraid to use PayPal now because of sellers being scammed and screwed
by buyers who lie and PayPal gives them their money back and the seller loses
the item and shipping!!!

I do agree that for parties involved there should be better info given. As for
PayPal I’ve used it for about 7.5k transactions and haven’t been scammed once
yet. We typically only hear of the horror stores but buyers can file claims pretty
much any way they pay. I’ve actually had someone try to scam me on PayPal but
PayPal actually stepped in and protected me from the buyer and I didn’t have
to give any refunds

Yes I have a great reputation with PayPal and they have always sided with me...
but I shouldn't have to fight, worry and stress about that stuff. So it's
easier for my life to just not. I don't have to sell to USA either. And
Canada post already killed my overseas business cause of increased prices. 😔

You should see if you have a chit chats near you. If you use them you can ship
stuff fully tracked overseas for as little as $10 to some countries

We actually do,,, but the one near me has a very bad reputation and bad feedback
for over charging and losing packages!!! They need to improve before I can trust
them.

Wow. Too far, dude. He’s been on BL far longer then you and I. That was just
rotten sounding. You sound like you are trying to parent a 5 year old who got
his finger pinched in the cookie jar lid. That was just a bit too far.

It has nothing to do with parenting or judging, it was making a point. If
the site admins fell like you won't make an effort to correct mistakes they
won't reinstate your selling or buying privileges. It's happened in
the past and we know they read comments in the forum as well so if you say you
don't care or compare it to another business and make it sound like you won't
fix it in the future, they could easily say they won't let you sell again.

Also, just because I haven't been on this platform doesn't mean that
I have no knowledge of the process from an outside view or another platform or
business. I'm just making a statement based on the information provided.

I have no problem fixing ANYTHING I did wrong or mistakes in my store. I was
NEVER told why they closed my store. So I'm waiting for an answer. This way
maybe an admin will notice and help me fix it.
I'm used to the old ways on here so didn't know I had to do it their
way. I can either stop Selling to USA buyers like I have for overseas buyers
cause of high shipping prices. Or put paypal back on my store and open it up
to everyone.
Thanks for your help and knowledge.
Peace,
James

Would that count as sales tax avoidance? I didn’t ready anything else from the

Are you working for a franchise company that is "owned" by someone in Canada?
If this is the case, then that is you delta. BL is a USA based company and
has to abide by US law. Even though they are owned by TLC, they are US based.
You don't get to make your own rules and when you break them, this is what

My store is based in Canada, so I don't charge a USA buyer any taxes.

You might look at it from another angle, James: Practically speaking, it’s BrickLink
that “charge a USA buyer any taxes” via third party arrangements.

You, as representing today’s online vendor, do not determine, apply to invoice
(charge) or have access to any tax-funds collected for remittance.

As it stands currently, the site can only fulfill what is now an obligation,
by using the payment process. The Onsite method, contractually allows for this.

-popsicle

Hi there. Yes you're right. So I either stop selling to USA buyers, or
conform and risk stress and pain. 😔

But your store is on a platform that is based in the US. You are selling on
a platform that is US based and this is the key piece. Unless you are brick
and mortar with your own order system, you have to abide by the rules and laws
by the country of origin.

I get you point. Maybe I have to stop USA sales, or conform. Shame cause I have
such great stuff still to list.

But BL is a marketplace, and has to make sure buyers pay taxes in front,
since relatively recently.

Your Company may not do distant sales, or has another status that authorizes
what they do, apparently.

On the other side, every shop owner should receive an e-mail or a message explainging
even in a few words why the shop has been closed.

But also, we're in August; it's not a "normal" period

Hope the attachment works,, but this is all I got from BL on my profile page...

Oh boy!! It’s getting intense!! I can’t wilt to see how far this goes! I’m in
support of that, though! The oldest users practically built bricklink with Daniel.
Shouldn’t they have more of a say then they do now? You got my name on the petition!

You think it is getting intense now. You should have been here 10 years ago.
Nothing going on here compared to then. We did help build bricklink but I do
not think that entitles us to anything. We did it for a love of Lego. Dan had
all the right ideas (except naming Bricklink BrickBay.) So many of my pictures
and inventories were used in the early days, but I did not think there was anything
owed to me. I just enjoyed being around others that love Lego and was happy
to help.
John P

Agreed. But it should help us get a little more respect and communication from
an admin to explain what we might be doing wrong with these new rules and stuff.

Yes, that's 1 of the reasons I'm trying to sell it all. Lol

Your choices seem to be, ship to the US and allow them to tax their citizens
based on their laws, or don't ship to the US..

eBay has started collecting tax on Canadian purchases as well, so I'm sure
Bricklink is not far behind.

Communication from Bricklink is terrible. I cannot think of a reason that they
could suspend your store if all is as you say. But that is not what this thread
is about. It is about a lack of humility on the part of Bricklink. They often
do not explain their actions even though their actions have a great impact on
the people they suspend. It is easy enough to tell the person the reason why
as it is to suspend them. It is as if they feel they do not owe an explanation
and have no second thoughts that they may not be perfect and do make mistakes.
I wonder if their thought process is "Let them eat cake."

John P

knows who I am and I've never scammed anyone!

I also have a NPB against this teenager who shouldn't be allowed on this
site. Then their negative feedback will be removed!

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I am very sorry for your situation. I hope it is resolved very soon.

There have been several examples lately of stores being shut down for issues
related to payment. There should have been no issue with that buyer as they are
not from a state that collects sales tax. If one report from an angry customer
gets sellers shut down, then we are all in trouble.

A bit more transparency from BrickLink on the nature of the rules and communications
regarding store shutdowns is definitely needed.

Take care,
Jen

Thanks Jen!! Yes very true! This site isn't like a faceless place like
Facebook where they shut pages and groups down and not tell you!
Someone needs to explain their reasoning for why its shut down as I haven't
done anything wrong.
I'm building a brand with Dream Builder Bricks and have been around for 15
years!! I need my store and reputation intact!

Thanks,
Janes

I have just sent 2 messages to the Help Desk.
It only says I broke some rule but I haven't.
Can an Admin here help me quick as I need my store and inventory back.
I'm selling almost everything and have tons more work to do to sell it on
Bricklink.
I've helped hundreds of people use BL. Uploaded items and pictures to help
build Bricklink over my 15 years here!

I hope someone helps me like I have helped the LEGO community.
If you know me, please vouch for me!
Thanks you in advance.
Peace,
James

I received it as well. The subject line states "Immediate action required!" which

minifigures (it doesn't!).

What exactly is the immediate action that I am required to take?

Ya it made me worry for a bit as well. I'm in the middle of uploading my

Mine are over 15 years of hard core collecting from sets, and from other good

Don't scare us like that Bricklink! lol.

Sounds like ebay but cheaper (maybe).

Anyone know this site? Is it legit?

Also they have their construction cap still and no feedback or orders. Did they
apply to Bricklink for the purpose of finding new clients? Might have been
a bot - addressed oddly to my store name and used a set I have listed that is
high priced but incomplete. Doesn't feel right, Admin?

Is it legit? Would you trust a company that tries to get clients I that way?

I'm following this thread for good advice as well.
And very good to know that we shouldn't deal with TD ever again for doing
something so stupid, lol. Banks know nothing about money and only care about
their shareholders making money, or the politicians they own! This is why Cryptocurrency
was invented and growing strong!
Suggest we find a good insurance company who will cover all us Canadian Bricklink
sellers and sign on with them. Would be a huge win for hundreds of us sellers
and collectors in Canada to sign up with the same company!

Sorry I'm passionate about things and love when the little guy wins and teach
people we are stronger as a pack of small business owners. Ok, getting off my
soap box now. As you were.

I started my Bricklink business around 1.5-2 years ago, and am in the process

the assets are material enough that I would like to have them covered by insurance.
I called up my insurance company (TD) to see if I could get coverage added to
home policy for business assets.

After waiting for a few days they called me back and told me that not only will
they Not cover it, but they will not be renewing my policy when it expires as
well. I asked for clarification and they stated that the value of my business
assets exceed their risk tolerance values. I than asked what if I purchased separate
commercial property insurance for the business assets and they stated the policy
would still not be renewed.

Soooo, that leaves me looking for a new insurance company. I've started calling
around to a couple different insurance brokers in town, but I was wondering if
anybody here might have some suggestions.

Hi Tanja and congrats on your almost first year at BrickLink. 🤗
Will this talk help us ship overseas at a cheaper price?
From Canada to, let's say England (UK), a small package of figs at only 400
grams cost $60! And a small set at 700 grams is $80! That's with tracking
if the buyer uses PayPal!
So I've had to stop shipping overseas cause of high shipping prices no one
will pay! 😥
Best regards,
James

In NEWS, Admin writes:

We’re pleased to announce the second round of crowdfunding for the BrickLink Designer Program will open November 9th at 12:00pm Pacific / 9:00pm CET / 8:00pm UTC. We invite LEGO fans to pre-order their favorites among nine fan projects on the BrickLink Designer Program page.

The first five projects to reach the goal of 3,000 pre-orders will be produced as a limited edition set. Up to 10,000 of each will be produced based on pre-orders received from registered BrickLink members. Round 2 crowdfunding will close at 12:00pm Pacific on December 14th.

Here are the candidates for the second round of crowdfunding, along with their prices:

Mountain Windmill by Hanwas for $179.99
Modular LEGO Store by Krisnow for $179.99
Seasons in Time Calendar by BrentWaller for $249.99
Retro Bowling Alley by avila for $229.99
Brickwest Studios by BrickyBricks82 for $279.99
Ruined House by Kirteem for $299.99
Clockwork Aquarium by Farquar for $64.99
Quest Builder by legobouwer for $259.99
Science Adventures by Alatariel for $35.99

Round 1 of crowdfunding was held during the summer of 2021, and a third and final round of crowdfunding will follow in 2022. Up to 15 out of 26 projects will ultimately be realized as a part of the program.

Designer Program sets will feature digital building instructions provided by the LEGO Building Instructions mobile app. Digital instructions help us fulfil our Planet Promise by using less paper and saving on shipping weight, which in turn reduces emissions while delivering your set to you. The app lets you zoom, rotate, and view your model in 3D and ghost view mode to see how far you’ve come and what part you’re in the process of building. The LEGO Building Instructions app is great at keeping track of complex builds and makes it easy to save your building steps online so you can recycle instruction books.

PDF building instructions will also be made publicly available when sets begin shipping.

Thank you,
The BDP Team

Just shows the Lego Ideas people don't know what they are doing when they
choose sets we don't really want, but say no to sets we really do want.
Just make sets based on our votes and you'll get sales.

In NEWS, Admin writes:
Thank you for the incredible interest you showed in the BrickLink Designer Program. We have been blown away by the response. As with any new endeavor, some things went well, and others don’t go to plan.

What worked

Based on our first round of crowdfunding, we believe the BrickLink Designer Program has strong potential. Your interest exceeds all our expectations. The portfolio of products is strong, and the designers are a joy to work with. We are looking forward to preparing for rounds 2 and 3.

However, there are a few things we need to address urgently with Round 1.

What needs to be improved

Thank you to everyone who has shared comments and feedback with us over the past week. While we understand many of you are frustrated, we are grateful for your quick and clear input.

There are four areas we want to address:

Site performance

Limited production of 5,000 units of each set & ordering glitch

Order limits of 5 sets per customer

Shipping limited to countries serviced by LEGO.com

Site performance & server capacity

When the crowdfunding went live on Thursday July 1 traffic to the site overloaded BrickLink’s servers. This meant some users couldn’t place their orders in time and for many, the site ground to a halt. We apologize for any disappointment this caused. We are currently reviewing server capacity.

Limited production and ordering glitch

The limit of 5,000 units per set was based on the AFOL Designer Program run in 2019. For that release, we produced 2,500 sets which didn’t all sell out. We obviously underestimated the appeal of the Bricklink Designer Program sets and because of that, we will double the limit for future releases.

The high level of demand was compounded by the site performance issues. An ordering glitch meant that people were able to pre-order 5,000 additional Castle in the Forest sets, which means we’ve received orders for 10,000 sets.

We have talked to many of you in the community about how to address this and have decided on the following actions:

Produce 10,000 of the Castle in the Forest sets so we can deliver to everyone who ordered.

Re-opening pre-ordering for round 1 on August 3rd to allow the four projects Kakapo, Great Fishing Boat, Sheriff’s Safe and Pursuit of Flight to also sell up to 10,000 sets.

Increase production for Crowdfunding rounds 2 and 3 to 10,000 each to meet demand.

We appreciate that this approach may not satisfy everyone, but we had to balance meeting users’ expectations with offering a fair outcome, so all designers had the chance to sell the same number of sets and the potential to dilute some of the exclusivity that comes with doubling the number of set available. We hope you understand.

Increasing production will delay shipping and future rounds of crowdfunding. Since we are doubling the production run, the additional 5,000 sets for Round 1 will be shipped in June 2022, as opposed to January 2022. This will also delay the release of Rounds 2 & 3. The final plan for this will be communicated at a later stage.

If, because of these changes, you wish to cancel the sets you’ve pre-ordered, please contact LEGO Customer Service.

Order limits of five per customer

We initially set the maximum order quantity at five per customer. Unfortunately, we saw a very small number of opportunistic customers hoarding sets and re-selling them for inflated prices. We’re disappointed by this as it wasn’t our intention to enable such behavior. We want everyone to have an opportunity to get a hold of a set, so going forward, we will set a maximum order limit of 1 set per customer. This will apply from when we re-open Round 1 to additional orders and to future crowdfunding rounds.

It’s important to point out that 75% of orders for Castle in the Forest were for one set– so we’d like to thank you for being considerate of other fans.

Shipping limited to LEGO Shop countries

We have decided to sell BrickLink Designer Program sets through the LEGO.com shop to give you a smooth shipping and support process. Unfortunately, this also limits the countries to which we can ship. For now, we plan to continue to use LEGO.com and not offer additional shipping destinations.

In summary

For Round 1, we will increase the number of sets available from 5,000 to 10,000. Castle in the Forest has already reached this amount. The four other sets will re-open to additional pre-ordering on August 3rd, but it will not be possible to pre-order additional Castle in the Forest sets. The additional production run will delay in shipping and release dates for crowdfunding rounds 2 and 3.

All future pre-orders will have a quantity limit of 1.

Unfortunately, in the current LEGO.com setup we are not able to ship to additional countries.

Again, we apologize for any disappointment and hope that the steps outlined above go some way to address the concerns raised.

Thank you for your patience, feedback and support for the BrickLink Designer Program. We look forward to building a better experience moving forward.

Sincerely,
The BrickLink Team

So I find that each time I listed a minifig that was brand new, but missing a
part like an accessory that was in the picture of the fig, like a shoulder piece
or cape, BL in the next day or so would remove it. We can't list figs as
new but incomplete or complete because BL never was set up like that. So BL
deleted my fig post saying it was against the rules but of course no explanation.
Do we really have to list a brand new fig as used, or as parts when it's
missing something like a cape or skirt???

When it gets deleted so quickly, does that mean that another member reported
it quickly to admins to get it removed? Someone said it's the new BL algorithm
that did it automatically, but that can't be true because I see other sellers
figs that are missing parts but still listed as new. So am I being singled out
by someone following me and reporting anything I do just to be a jerk?

Thanks in advance.

I use to be good at BL. Thanks for the frustration. I was going to post an
announcement sharing that I am only 1 feedback away from the big 5 double 0 after
almost 11 years on BL but I will probably forget how to find the Post New Message
button in the mean time.
(Why do less than half the members on BL leave feedback? I'd be over 1000
if everyone left feedback. lol. It's the same on ebay.)

It stands to reason that if sellers cannot use the word `LEGO` in their store
name, then other trademarks should be forbidden too.

As such I suggest that section 15 of the TOS should be updated accordingly to
forbid the use of any trademark in store names.

Although this should in theory be covered by common sense and section 12 of the
TOS it is increasingly clear that it isnt entirely obvious.

thanks for considering
Gareth

I vote 'NO'.

United Artists (Movie company)
United Airlines (Airline company)
United Moving Vans (Moving company)
United (Bricklink store) ... I think.

Apple, Inc
Apple Music
Apple Bricks .... would be fine.

There are towns, cities and other companies and using 'Apple', 'United', but
are in different business or different places. Another example anyone can start
a company can create 'BrickLink Rent A car' or BrickLink Airlines' or 'Bricklink
Software'. Because the companies don't share the same line of business.

There is no need to list every town, private and public company here or there
as in
USA, Europe, Asia. As someone already mention ... it is pretty much 'common
sense' people understand the difference.

I agree with LEGOMASTER. It's a good idea just to be sure we arn't stealing
someone's trade marked name, but some things are common sense when it comes to
things like the word Apple or United words like that.

I was talking with a LEGO customer service person about an order and somehow
the conversation got on Bricklink and names being used for stores here. She
said that we arn't allowed to have the word LEGO in our store names, which most
people already know about, but she did say that our USERNAMES are OK to have
the word LEGO in it. (So far.)
So members user names like LEGOMASTER, Legoman or TorontoLego are allowed to
have that name for a member.

Hopefully TLG doesn't become corporate bullies and try and make people change
those names as well.

IMHO

Peace,
James

Why should only the winning party get to post feedback? FB is the expression
of one's perception of a transaction. You should still tell of your experience
w the seller even if you lost a protest.

Simple example:
Buyer buys. Buyer finds product elsewhere cheaper. Buyer requests cancel.
Seller refuses, insists on payment. Seller posts NPB. All fine. But TO THAT
BUYER that transaction is probably negative. "inflexible seller" or whatever.
Contract and all, even obligated to pay, buyer is STILL entitled to feel the
seller could still have done more to be a better seller in that instance. He
should get to post whatever he feels appropriate, even tho the NPB was (correctly)
on him.

But in this case, the buyer then paid, so the case wasn't closed because of No
Response. I was more thinking when the other party never responds, or if one
of the members isn't being reasonable or scamming.

Even if it is as simple as "I asked the seller to cancel and he wouldn't". That
is fair, true, honest feedback. It shares to the world that some buyer had what
he felt was a poor experience w that seller. The fb has nothing to do w who
is at fault, it is each person being entitled to tell about their experience
w the other.

Agreed. I was just thinking of the people who purposely scam, or don't communicate,
or maybe the seller who lists things wrongly and don't even try to explain or
make it up to the buyer. (The seller I am refering to, purposely avoided my
questions about the quality of the items. She responded to my other questions,
but had nothing to say about her items. I emailed her again asking and she Stop
Listed Me. I also have another order with her husband but he has left me positive
feedback but I think if I leave the wife feedback for her store, he might change
his to a NEG and then I will have 2 undeserved NEG's against me, lol.)

This way, sellers have to be attentive to buyers and cannot hide behind the contracts.
It is the division between what a seller HAS to do to meet his obligation, and
what a seller CAN do to go above and beyond.

Right.

Feedback should be unmoderated to be useful. Period.

I suggest the system does not allow ANY FB to be left by buyer or seller once
a NSS or NPB is filed. Only once the NSS or NPB is completed, or after 1 month,
whatever comes first, FB can be left.

This will prevent a buyer from leaving a retaliatory FB after filing of NPB while
it is still pending, or a seller from retaliating with a neg FB once NSS is filed.
All existing rules regarding FB remain in place.

This is sort of what eBay does now. When you file a NSS or NPB, I think the
feedback options remain open for both parties. But once the claims are complete
then only the winning member can leave feedback and the person who either didn't
pay or didn't ship, their feedback option is blocked and they can not leave feedback
for the item.

So I had a NPB just last week and eBay allows only 4 days for the buyer to pay.
I gave them I think 10 days to pay after filing a NPB case. I closed the case
and the buyer got a strike as a NPB and they are not able to leave me any feedback
for that transaction. I can leave feedback, but eBay only allows sellers to
leave Positive feedback, so I won't be leaving any feedback.

But for Bricklink, they could do the same, block all feedback for both members
once a NPB or NSS has been started. Then after it has been closed, then the
winning member can leave appropriate feedback. (Yes there will be little problems,
but not for a cut and dry case.)

I have a seller who shipped items to me but they are not as described. They
didn't answer my questions about the items at all but chose to block me from
their store. I want to file a NSS against them, but I know they will leave me
a NEG for it. And they are in the wrong. I would leave them a Neutral but they
will leave a NEG in retaliation.)

So if they were stopped from doing that, then I could get them to see the ers
of their ways. (Listing something as Excellent condition and Crisp Cape, but
there are marks all over the minifig that do now come off, and the cape is frayed
and soft. )

So BrickBuy's idea is exactly how to make things right. But I suggest that the
other member's feedback option be blocked if the case gets closed in favour of
the other member.

There might be scammers out there. But perhaps that is what the Forum could handle?
OR something else. Ideas?

Namaste,
James
