scam/spam emails? Just a thought for a simple measure.

Another response would be to email all users (or just sellers) saying to delete
the messages from the spammers advertising the site.
On one hand, BL makes all sellers aware of it but hopefully in enough of a negative
light that they won't use it.

| Good morning-
I just received an updated terms and policy agreement from PayPal. I noticed
this:
-U.S. business accounts will not be able to receive personal transactions from
PayPal accounts outside the U.S. starting October 31, 2022.
-U.S. PayPal accounts will not be able to send personal transactions to business
accounts outside the U.S. starting October 31, 2022.
Now, I rarely purchase internationally and I don't sell, so this is probably
moot to me. But: could this have larger implications for others on BrickLink?
I did look through the archive to see if anyone else had brought this up, but
didn't readily see anything. Forgive me if it is a duplicate post.
Just curious-
David

Transactions on BL are business Transactions so this is not an issue.
If you are selling lego to friends and family, you might as well sell away from
BL and their fees completely.

| AFAIU, prototype parts are a nogo but production parts in off colours are okay
to sell
You can try to contact TLG. I'm sure if you buy a few billion parts you can
get them in whatever colour you desire
Cheers,

Is there any way I can get Lego bricks a certain color that doesn’t exist on
the catalog? Like, can I message Lego? Or do I just need to paint the piece?
Any help is appreciated.
Btw, I know that “selling modified bricks” is against tos, and so is selling
the “test bricks” so don’t start jumping all over me. I just want to know if
there is a way FOR MY PERSONAL MOCS.
Thanks again! 😊

| TLG made those parts decades ago but we mere mortals are not deemed worthy enough
for such advanced building techniques ..

Why would this person who is promoting the 'other lego website' decide
to specifically promote it via direct private message-ads to members instead
of just posting the message-ad directly to the forum as a thread?

Most likely, they have done so already. Fortunately, the mods are pretty quick
about cancelling spam messages in the forum. However, they can't cancel private
messages.

yes, you are correct,
posting that information in the forum is considerd Spam.
irregardless of if above the ad it says, " i recieved this message, it is a scam"

When it comes to nonexistent part/color combinations, you have three main options:
1. Use the same part, in a different color
2. Use a different part, in the same color
3. "Illegal" options (painting, clone bricks, non-LEGO, etc.)
If you're going to paint pieces, I would recommend painting only the side
that will be seen on the final MOC. Painting the studs will make it difficult
to connect to other pieces.
Getting the color to match TLG colors will be challenging, but many paint or
auto shops will be happy to mix you the right colors if you bring them a sample.
As far as I am aware TLG does not make parts to order, so contacting them directly
probably won't get you very far. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
In my opinion, part of the creative fun of building with LEGOs is using a limited
building palette; e.g., only parts from a certain set, or only official LEGO
parts.
