" or additional promoting for profit "
... for profit....

so, you are saying it is 'Additional Promotion' to repost it, but it's
only a "problem" to do that if it's for Profit...

ok gotcha..
so, it's worse than i thought, they aren't even getting anything out

duh.....

also, i used the terminology "Likely" not "assume"

i never assumed anything

on Aug. 11th, i finally recieved it, the stupid email you all have been talking
about for weeks, guess what i did,

Congratulations, you read the forum and had the information provided to you already
so you knew exactly what to do with it. Guess what, I did the same thing when
I got it. But you know what else, it came to my email account which is where
I saw it first and for those that don't look at or view their incite BL messages,
that's quite possible where these members are seeing it first as well.

It's not the fact that they posted it, or the call out that it was the full
message and "promoting" it. If people want to sign up for a new selling site,
they are allowed to. The problem here is the manner and attitude used with the
assumptions made that it is malicious or additional promoting for profit. I
think you need to have a more open mindset in understanding all perspectives
to grasp what is being communicated. Additionally, the original poster has realized
that this thread has already been started many times over and has since removed
the post, so again this is all mute.

I will be running a big sale and try to clear all my parts and instructions (some
minifigures are on sale too) and focus on used and sealed sets. Feel free to

no, no, no,... i learned all about this from you.. the Forum users, who decided
it was intelligent to repost an EXACT Copy & Paste of the Scam ad you recieved...

no wonder sellers are joining the other site.. YOU ALL HAVE BEEN PROMOTING IT

ok, well i guess someone might as well say it..
if you are reposting the ad , an exact word for word copy & paste... likely you
have already opened your store on that website & are getting paid a commission
for reposting the ad.

It's amazing the assumptions that you make for everyone. Posting a message
like this in the forum is to let everyone know that when they get it that it
is Spam and they can ignore it rather than question it again and again.

no it's not amazing & it's not an assumption... it's a simple marketing
ploy...

you all are promoting the website, word for word, for free for them... all they
had to do was private message a few 'white knights' & wha-bam!

Why is it a problem to post the message here so that people are aware of it.
This is a forum to inform people and that is exactly what is being done. If
someone is of the wrong mindset and doesn't listen and follows through with
all of us saying it's bad, kind of a "shame on them" moment.

if it's not a problem to post it publicly, why is it a problem to get the
private message."
.
posting it publicly is worse....

I got it this morning, reported the user, Askungen34 (0), with the message id

Report them here: https://www.bricklink.com/problemMember.asp

This spam appears to be working, I went to look for a physical address, found
2. One is a virtual office in Vancouver, BC and a house in San Francisco, CA.

While there I searched for Lego and I found multiple Lego sellers on there, some
did not even bother to change their store name from Bricklink. This is likely
why they keep spamming our message boxes, because it works. SMH.

I'm surprised a BrickLink seller would want to sell on the site, what with
the free shipping policy and all

Not saying that there's a clear right or wrong answer, just that there's
always some other consideration. In my own store, new minifigures are unassembled
(unless factory assembled) and used are assembled.

I do the same. I keep new and used separate anyway, but it is a useful internal
check that I have picked the correct condition. If it is assembled it is used,
unassembled means new. The few I have that are new assembled, I make a note or
put an N on the bag.

Just got this message through my BrinkLink messages and into my email. This is
a scam!

This is a scam, so you post it in public on a forum?
Ermmmmm...

BTW, I'm not sure it's a scam, but it's spam for sure.

Considering they open up several accounts here everyday just to send spam messages
knowing that it is against the TOS when they sign up and also knowing that their
accounts will be quickly closed down but they still repeatedly do it several
times a day knowing then I would say that kind of constitutes it being a scam
site or at least a very scummy site.

I meant...
Apparently (but I didn't check much) it's a working marketplace.
So it doesn't seem to be a scam.
But the way they promote their website is pure spam.

If you wish, it's like if BrickOwl would send messages to all sellers here...
But BO isn't this kind of business, of course.

I see your point and I agree, their spamming here dose not prove that the site
itself is a scam. I should have read your post more carefully before I replied
to it. I apologize for any offence given.

Jim.

Not a mystery...

That’s the rub when using such adjectives or descriptors, they’re subjective
in nature. It’s why they say that vendors should under-pitch, rather than use
such absolutes in sales. Every expectation of "pristine" condition, is unique.

The only instance I've ever felt comfortable in using such terms in sales,
is with our certified/graded trading cards we're selling. And not even with
all grading companies either, PSA only. Otherwise I steer clear of using such
absolute terms in sales.

Tell me about it... People often think their stuff is "like new". They have
an issue where they can't be objective over their own items. I drove 70
miles to get some "absolutely brand new" rims and then see these marks on almost
every spoke and this rash. I didn't even need them to be perfect, but I
felt let down after that description.

Totally agree with underselling. I rarely ever go higher than a “good condition”
description anymore.

If a Minifigure is in MINT condition or a set along with whatever else comes

The use of adjectives such as “Mint, Pristine, Flawless, Perfect, etc” to better
describe with more accuracy the true condition, is a good thing imho. Just as
the proper use of adjectives would be to better describe the honest condition
of flawed/damaged/worn items.

However terms "Like-new or As New" as descriptors can add confusion
to a listing (I assume is the reasoning applied) and therefore discouraged
within the TOS.

“Please do not use phrases such as "Like New" or "As New" in the description
of any item, regardless of whether it is being listed as NEW or USED”

Thats the only good one (for the most part/that I know of) I've seen what
other companies call good and stuff and they are very unreliable
