In LEGO, Quaffloid writes:

The old boat sets always mentioned that there were model motors not made by LEGO
that could be added to the sets and the hulls were equipped with attachment points
for them. Does anyone know what they were referring to or has anyone ever seen
one of these motors? The double hull speedboat set is the only one I know of
that came with a motor (made by LEGO) and the newer city themed boats no longer
have the attachment points and don't mention them.

This has been mystery to me since I was a kid, and now with a pretty extensive
boat collection myself and the power of the internet I still can't find them
referenced anywhere.

That wedge doesn't seem to be existing in dark gray color,
Brick 2 x 2 x 3 seems to be existing in two sets in dark gray color, you can
check if there are additional distinctive parts in your bulk lot
75 2 x 2 x 3 slope (if I'm seeing right) will tell it's age if it has
solid studs or hollow studs... according to catalog it doesn't exist in dark
gray color with solid studs...

ps: I might be wrong in any or all of the above guesses since it's just 1.5
years that I'm into Lego.

No need to throw them away. You could always sell them as filler bricks.

You could also find Playmobile motor 5159. 5159 is on a blister card that is

Welcome back!
I was gifted my first set of LEGO in 1984 and steadily accumulated more sets
(mainly Castle and City set) until my early years of high school. An education
and a profession in architecture meant that my LEGO were left untouched from
that point on. Fast forward to 2020 when my Better Half casually remarked that
we should have a train under our Christmas Tree.

Aha! I just so happened to have set 4563, the Load N'Haul Railroad, in the
mix. It's been all downhill from there as I discovered Bricklink... and
MOCs.... and just how much fun it is to bash the heck out of a set from the LEGO
store (ask me about my extended Defender and the craziness that is my currently
under construction Home Alone house).

While I missed 20 years of LEGO, the icing on the cake came most recently in
the form of a toy reseller nearby. She'd recently purchased the contents
of a garage and with it some 25,000 elements with an emphasis on Pirates, Castles,
and Space. She found the task of sorting through, cataloging, and preparing
for resale this insane collection daunting to say the least and there is sat
in storage.

That is until I came along and made that task my current project. I joke that
I'm getting to relive a part of my youth as I comb through bin after crate
of 1980s and 1990s era LEGO.

Thank goodness there is no rehab for this addiction!

as a girl who grew up in the 80's and 90's don't limit yourself to
city or girly things.

I had castle, western, trains, space etc as a kid. I think you may be surprised
at home much you'll like the other themes.

That said the friends stuff is AMAZING and honestly inexpensive compared to many
other themes if you buy used.

If you want cheap, honestly buying used lots in bulk is the best way to go starting
out

I sold all my childhood lego as a kid at a garage sale... years later I had to
buy a birthday gift for a cousin and picked up a small monster fighter's
set
"Swamp creature" and fell back into it. My advise is to plan out a city you
can afford over time and don't rush it. It's your city and you can do
whatever you want.

doubts if they are really practical. The new roads look great, but they seem
expensive and the budget is limited. I also have to buy some new buildings after
all and many cool sets (especially the Lego creative expert sets) are quite expensive.
So many choices to make!

I am curious about the experiences of my fellow Bricklink-users.
How did you get started after your love for Lego returned?

And if you have any tips for me to get started, feel free to share!
Surely there is something you wish you had known before starting your collection.

decided not to notice it, until I thought “why not?”

And it started with “I will just buy a few parts to finally build what I dreamt
of building when I was a kid and then I’ll stop”… yeah, sure.

Surely there is something you wish you had known before starting your collection.

It’s an expensive hobby… but it’s now too late not to think about it and not

I returned to the early space sets and figures and moved on from there, fascinated
by the simple early bricks etc.

I would like to build town scenes but most models are too expensive and I don’t
have the room, wishing you well with yours.

Welcome,

I returned to LEGO with collecting the missing 80's and 90's knight's,
pirates and space sets of of my childhood. The interest expanded into more themes.

If you dislike the new roads you can use tiles to create your own roads.
Cover the large baseplates with green, yellow or tan plates for sand or beach.

Many themes have sets which fit in an island theme.
Google will show many great examples.
The bigger the island the better.

I don't have much experience with the 12v trains, but this sounds like what
happened with the one I had. I used a pencil eraser to clean the tracks off
and it worked great after.

Most probably dirty track/engine contacts. The train gets some speed until it
'hits' a bit of dirty track and looses contact. The slightest movement
can cause the train to make contact again and the process repeats itself.

Use train more often = probably problem solved

Because there is no such thing as the list of colors of a part. There
are several lists on the catalog page:
(1) available colors = which colors of this part are currently available in stores;
this does not mean that the color actually exists, only that the seller listed
the part in this color.
(2) on wanted lists = which colors of this part are currently specified on wanted
lists; a lot of these colors are wishful thinking on behalf of the potential
buyers.
(3) known colors = which colors are known to exist in set/gear/etc inventories;
these colors have been confirmed to exist and can be traced to their origin.
This list is not exclusive in that parts may still exist in another color in
sets that have not been inventoried, in test runs, in special releases or escapes,
from model shops or unknown other sources.

So as to your question, I assume you are looking at list (1): the color disappears
from this selection whenever there is no-one having this part in this color available
in their shop. They may still have them in their stock rooms and you may still
list an item for sale in this color or place it on your wanted list.

A good indication of whether a part actually exists in a color, is when there
is an actual photo of the part in this color. Either in the catalog or in the
seller's listing. For renders this is mostly true as well, but they may occasionally
exist when a part has never been seen in this color. So if you see listings without
an image, always be aware that it may be wrongly listed.

[p=3626c] does have a single listing (at the time of writing) but no image in
BLY [p=3626c,103] and the wrong color image associated to that listing.

I read on Eurobricks that the BLY plain minifig head only exists as a "factory"
item.
So perhaps it was indeed "illegally" made.
Bummer. Just when I thought I could finally complete several BLY monofigs.

The definition of genuine you’re defending is attached and limited to the material.
It’s okay when we are talking about “genuine leather” as opposed to “leatherette”

For instance, say an author dictates all their books to the same typist who always
uses the same paper, ink, and typewriter. If the typist writes a book on their
own with the same tools, is the book genuinely from the author? Of course not.
And if the typist is actually more a co-author or even a ghost writer? Still
no if the (main/front) author doesn’t sign/authorize it.

Some people try to twist the words around with phrases like “unauthorized authentics.”
They are just scammers. If it’s not authorized, it’s not genuine nor authentic,
by definition.

I think there’s a octagon in every LEGO factory for such cases

More seriously, it’s not the same because 1) the first manager had the authority
to give the order, and 2), more simply, even if they didn’t have that authority
and the parts were made, someone at LEGO has the authority to decide what to
do with the parts (authorizing them post hoc, or not).
For the “night-shift” parts we’re talking about, LEGO has decided they were not
genuine.

Genuine as they were made with official machines and official “ingredients” the
exact same way they would normally be made except they weren’t made with authorization.
If someone turned on the printing press after closing hours at a mint everything
they made would still be genuine even if it’s illegal. Authorization dosnt necessarily
make something genuine on a product level. What determines if something is genuine
or not? If 1 manger at LEGO said to make a certain part and another said not
to and the part was still made would it be genuine or a fake (my example probably

Contradiction in terms: by definition, if they are not authorized, they are not
genuine.

Analogy: even if you use the paper, ink, printing plates and everything else

of prototype parts since most of them were illegally made so the few normal ones
mixed in would have gotten removed as well.

When you say illegally made, do you mean counterfeit? As on made by someone or
wrongly made at a Lego factory?

For me its so much more then a toy but it was a toy as a kid playing castle and
pirates with brothers and sisters.

But after 40 plus years later its beautifull to see the creativity of minds across

Is it just me or dose Waldorf (reddish brown) seem crooked compared to Statler
(Dark Blue) in the image for the new Muppet Minifigures?

When Series 1 came out I was disappointed that they didn’t have stylized pieces
like the promotional pics

Maybe someday they would make rubber legs and arms

How many years before they discolour, harden and finally crack?

To Me Lego is a beautiful collection of plastic bricks. These bricks can be made
into hundreds, millions and even billions of things.

Lego can come as a set with instructions. A group of pieces to build anything.
Maybe even a character from Muppets or Looney Tunes.

I have been building Lego for years and it has helped me with everything. When
I'm down or annoyed I like to sit down at my Lego table and build away.
Some of my MOC projects can least a few weeks (Lego Minecraft Ghast MOC). And
others can only take a few days, (Lego Christmas Tree Ornaments).

I just love to sit down at the end of a long day and build something with Lego.
I love going onto YouTube and seeing some cool new Lego Set Leaks. I am hyped
everyday because I know that there will always be something cool on the Bricklink
Forums or something on The Brothers Brick.

I can't explain how much Lego has helped me over the years. And as I know
hundreds of people around me also share my love of Lego.

As the years have gone by Lego has changed so much. They have gone from basic
sets like Lego Police Patrol Car (Set #600) to beautiful masterpieces like the
Lego Vintage Typewriter (Set #21327).

I have grown up with Lego around me for the past 10 years. Even as a young kid
I played with Duplo.

I thank Lego for its HUGE role in my life and the amount of happiness it has
brought me.

What do you think Lego is? What does the plastic brick mean to you?

That is just the 3D images. They look like that from their "bent knees" and "twisted
hips".

A lot of the illegitimate figures are sold as "prototypes".
They are not.

Exactly. The word prototype is being used to make out these are parts made by
LEGO for testing and on some rare occasions manage to escape from factories,
whereas in reality they are parts illegitimately made (in some cases made to
order) for the collectors' market.

It is highly likely that they escaped a LEGO factory. Mexico, maybe? Tons of
interesting things come from bored LEGO factory employees.

These are just the stylized images aren't they? Where they bend hips, knees,
elbows, etc.

Yes, I just got some at my local Fred Meyer (Kroger) and can confirm Waldorf
is just a regular minifig torso and legs. These are easy to find with the feel
method.

They shut down the standard parts on April 20th for an undefined reason. The
notice originally said they expected it to be back up at the beginning of May
but that has since been changed. The current message says:

"We’re sorry but we’re unable to place new orders for Pick a Brick Standard parts.
Any orders placed before April 20 will take 5-6 weeks from the time they were
placed to be delivered. We’ll update you on LEGO.com once we’ve started back
up again."

They are probably just doing some kind of maintenance or some re-evaluating of
which parts will be available from that service. On the initial transition they
started holding back new parts/colors.

That sounds odd. I have a basket - still there but presumably unable to check
out - for an order I was putting together in the couple of days before they closed
Standard purchases. I was still seeing ~12k items available and in stock on PAB
at that point, probably around the 18th/19th April. This is UK, but shouldn't
be any different for Standard orders.

Thanks, however, I can see the message, but I was tracking this phenomenon since
the first of the April and availability was steadily falling with standard parts.
There are currently 12 standard items you can still add to your cart, so the

To me a minifigure is a character; something with life or life-like characteristics(like
robots). Now don't ask me to differentiate between minifigures and animals,
because that is a bit more of a gray area.
