I know there are global search settings, but they're only a few. I'm
in Germany and usually want to find parts from sellers in Germany, because of
shipping time and shipping costs.
So, by now, I have to activate "Ships from: Germany" every time I do a search.
Every time!

That is so annoying. My suggestion is: either make this a global search setting
or store my last settings in a cookie so that I don't have to select this
every time.
Thank you!

  Hi everybody,

When adding parts manually from my Inventory (no part out), I used to adjust
quantity and pricing by quickly checking the Price Guide.

When I say quick, I mean I just clicked on the "Price" link and a pop up window
opened instantly, showing the Price Guide for that part. Then I closed the window
and adjusted my price. This was a 2 seconds procedure. I used that procedure
for several colors of the same part without leaving the page. Then I submitted
all these changes in one go. Nice and fast!

Today, for an unknown reason, the same link leads to another page showing the
complete Price Guide with all items for sale. This takes a loooong time to load.
For the most common parts, it can take up to 20 seconds to load!!! Yes, I might
have an old computer. But still.
Then, I have to come back to the previous Inventory page, which can take time
to load and at the top of the said page. Then I have to scroll down to find and
adjust the right color entry. That's for one color. If I have five entries
of the same part in various colors to adjust, I must repeat that process accordingly.

This is really time consuming (x10 at least), annoying, frustrating and painful.
I know there are other ways to adjust prices, but that's the way I used to
work for years and it was so easy. I can't think of any quicker way.

Please, just bring back the small pop up window... Please?

Thaks for reading my rant.

Frédéric

I can't believe sellers do this on BrickLink pages in 2022.

I started with early BrickStore in uhhh 2006 and never quit.

You simply can't imagine how life is easier, and FREE and open-source, and
economic (server friendly - cached), etc.

Hoping it helps?

  Hi Jen,

My question/issue is how to tell if a stickered part had been submitted to be
added to the set inventory as a counterpart - not as a new entry in the catalog.
Every few months I go through those parts that people have added but then neglected
to add those parts to their respective sets. Basically get them out of no mans
land.

So, in the past I added a whole bunch to one of the mobile technic cranes, must've
been about 2 dozen. All were not in the counterpart section of the set. But
someone had beat me to it but there was no way to tell that until I hit submit.
And unfortunately it doesn't flag every part that has already been submitted.
It's one at a time. So you have to delete it, resubmit. Then repeat for
all submitted parts. I think I spent over an hour on that one set - if I recall
it had identical stickers on different parts so I had to go through the instructions
page by page trying to find the correct quantity of each stickered part. It
was tedious but eventually all for naught.

The link Paul supplied will definitely help in the future.

Bill

Ah, makes sense. It's really nice of you to do that. I've also added
orphaned parts occasionally if they have been laying around for a month or two.
'Fill in missing information' is a good place to waste an hour or two
if anyone is bored.

I spend so much time on the Approval Pending Overview that I take it for granted.
I don't do much of any catalog work without checking there first. I wish
they would fix the navigation tools there. It's a mess.

Maybe I am misunderstanding you, but when you submit a part with a number already
in use, you get a ready banner saying that item is pending. It does NOT mean
that the exact item you are submitting is pending, only that the number is already
in use. All you have to do is increase the sequential number until your submission
goes through.

Jen

The post was not about adding new stickered counterparts to the catalog. It was
about stickered counterparts that are already in the catalog but have not yet
been added to inventories. Either because the change request is still pending
or because one had not yet been submitted.

Hmmm.. I guess I have always just compared the list of stickers already listed
in the set inventory with the ones that appear on a search. Annoying, yes, but
much less difficult then resubmitting all the parts just to see if they are there.

One of things I like to do from time to time is to assign those decorated parts
that have been added to the catalog but not added as counterparts to their appropriate
set.
For example:

Part No: 6178pb037 Name: Tile, Modified 6 x 12 with Studs on Edges with Star Wars Logo and 'R2-D2' Pattern (Sticker) - Set 75308
*
6178pb037 Tile, Modified 6 x 12 with Studs on Edges with Star Wars Logo and 'R2-D2' Pattern (Sticker) - Set 75308
Parts: Tile, Modified, Decorated {Black}
It was added Dec 8,2021 but it is currently not listed in 75308's inventory.
So an Inventory Change request would need to be made to list it as a counterpart
(I have since submitted the request). Now this is the easiest example as that
is the ONLY stickered piece in the set. Some sets have dozens that need to be
added. I have submitted requests for such sets only to find out someone else
had beaten me to it. Incredibly frustrating as the time I used, which can be
significant, turned out to be wasted. And you don't find out until the very

What I would suggest is something similar to when someone has reserved a set
to inventory. You immediately know if a set has been reserved as it states on
its catalog page under 'Item Consists Of', 'Inventory in Progress'
or something similar. So is there a way to tag or reserve those parts that have
been submitted waiting for approval to their appropriate sets so that when you
go to its catalog page you can see a message like 'Pending Approval'
under 'Item Appears In'?

I know adding stickered counterparts is way down on the list for catalog priorities
so adding such a feature could save lots of duplicate work/time from submitters.
Especially since there is an apparent backlog of stickered counterparts waiting
to be approved.

Of course, if such a thing already exists, could someone point it out to me?

Bill

You can find this through the pending approval page. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvChangeItem.asp?viewStatus=0&itemType=S

Put the set number in the search box at the top of tha page (without the -1 suffix
or else it won't work). This will show all pending change requests for a
specific set.

+1. Although it has never happened to me, I've always imagined adding stickered
counterparts for a set, but then finding all my hard work with naming, measuring,
photographing etc. has gone to waste and could have been spent elsewhere.

If this was implemented, it would also make the admin's jobs easier to approve
stickered counterparts, as they would know what set they come from (assuming
you have reserved it)

The day lego starts selling here, competing with sellers that pay fees to sell

Buying from TLG is something that can already be done. This change would simply
improve the buying experience.

It would also manipulate the prices here, and LEGO said they would not do that
when they bought Bricklink.

I believe the above provinces do not have HST, and have therefore made their

It’s supposed to work that way in the USA too: some states call it Used tax.
You buy in your state: you pay Sales tax to the seller.  You buy from another
state: you report and pay Used tax on your own.

Thing is, no one did it and big internet sellers, 1. have their HQ in tax-friendly
states, and, 2. put their warehouses just over the state border for those states
that were a bit more clever and phrased their tax law to account for warehouses
and not HQs.

(It’s the same for import VAT: if you should have paid and didn’t and Customs
didn’t spot it, you are supposed to declare on your own.)

Hello. This is my first post. Be patient with me.

I would like to be able to mark a set as in my inventory. I would like to mark

that set.

(this is implemented on Peeron but not here, from what I can see)

Thank you.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think what you are describing is closer
to the functionality of rebrickable.

Brickset is closer to what the OP wants if I'm not mistaken, although Rebrickable
does offer some of the reuired features I don't think it enables you to store
your sets like Brickset (I most definitely could be wrong though).

I don't think anyone would want Brickset though, it's a site with tons
of advertisements and content taking only the 20/30% of the screen space... One
of the rare web sites that have ridiculous video ads too...

Yes, but all you have to do is log in and it all goes away.

You can't change the country.

Right, There was a post made about this very specific situation from Russell:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1253276

I would reach out and see if any determination on this has been made.

Besides, didn't TLG get rid of Bricks
& Pieces? When I go to LEGO.com I see only Pick-A-Brick now.

They have combined the front ends of the two but they are still separate services.

  3. It's still not possible to order Bricks and Pieces from Bricklink. This
is such an obvious thing to do that it shouldn't need to be said.

The day lego starts selling here, competing with sellers that pay fees to sell
here, is the day brickowl gets a sudden increase in seller numbers.

I think it's not a core business for Lego. Otherwhise you wouldn't expect
to wait at least 5-6 week (or more) to get your order from Lego (if you order
from the new bricks and pieces). Even if they would open a Lego BL B&P shop,
they have to speed up their game. Order within the Netherlands I receive within
a couple of days. If Lego does this centralized in Poland, it still takes a week
to reach me (and that's only shipping time). So this means they have to extend
their capacity a lot and people are very expensive, so I don't thing they
want to get more order, then they now allready get. I think it's for Lego
an extra service with which they earn little. For little orders with a lot of
different pieces, sets, minifigs, gear, instructions, etc they have Bricklink!

Kind regards,

José

Perhaps a logistical thing. They still get money every time a person buys a (new)
set for resale so they probably figure they wouldn't make much money from
it after it all said and done compared to just selling the sets to resellers
plus maybe they know people like places like Bricklink which have parts from
all eras which promotes the lego brand non-stop which also leads to more sales.
Just a guess tho

Yah... No...
Bricklink is different from lego bricks and pieces if lego flooded bricklink
with its on service it would be very bad for sellers

I honestly wonder why TLG doesn't do this to begin with. Is there some sort
of logistical challenge associated with selling individual parts as compared
to sets? I know that this isn't TLG's main business model, but if BrickLink
is any indicator, there is a strong demand for parts.

1. The search function seems to be geared around buying pieces, not simply searching
the database. Why does it bring up items for sale by default? Why does it order
search results in such a strange way by default?
2. Features for managing parts lists are poor. There's no ability to merge
lists that have parts in common (BL just complains that the parts already exist).
Indeed, it's not even possible to use the 'upload' function to upload
an xml file that has previously been downloaded from Bricklink. Despite that,
it is possible to use an xml file to create a new wanted list. This is obviously
completely unintuitive.

It is definitely possible to order bricks and pieces from BrickLink, just go
to just about any store…

TLG may own BL, but they are still separate companies with separate staff, websites,
etc. When you buy parts on BrickLink, you are buying them from independent sellers
generally not affiliated with TLG, whereas when you buy parts on LEGO.com you
are getting them directly from TLG. Besides, didn't TLG get rid of Bricks
& Pieces? When I go to LEGO.com I see only Pick-A-Brick now.

  4. Orders seem to be deleted from the order list after only a few months. Why
is this necessary?
5. It is not possible to automatically mark pieces as bought when they have been
ordered.

Amazon, eBay, etc all have the option to change a shipping address.

Please implement this!

But you are aware that the seller loses his seller protection if the payment
is made via Paypal and the shipping address does not match the Paypal address?
With Stripe it should be the same.

  Hi all,

Is it possible to add a sort option on seller in the Items For Sale tab on the
parts page?
At this point of time each color is seperately shown as intended.

As I am often looking for more colors of the same part it is convenient if I
can sort on seller. So I can easily see if a certain seller has more than one
color available.

Regards,
Dennis

If this became an option, then user names and/or store names would become things
like "AAAAAAAA Bricks" or "A1 Bricks" as sellers manipulate names to appear higher
in the list.

Sounds like you should create a wanted list and add all needed parts there
then you can search for sellers who has all parts you need, much more convinient

I was rather disappointed when on a recent order I received a number of broken,
heavily damaged, and heavily discoloured parts, and was even more surprised when
the order showed that those parts were listed as such. Somehow I had purchased
a number of parts that I am quite literally going to throw straight in the bin.
I suspect I am not the first person this has happened to, and that I won't
be the last.

As far as I can tell, this happened because there is no visibility of the part
notes when shopping a wanted list. In my case, I shopped my wanted list with
~300 parts, and used the auto-select option. The store selection - both in the
confirm and edit views - doesn't show the part notes. To make matters worse,
the auto-select option will favour damaged parts because they are cheaper.

I then created the carts. When viewing the carts, notes are visible, but this
stage is too late to find out about bad parts, because rejecting them here means
having to re-select these from elsewhere. In other words, going back to store
selection, and potentially having to exclude stores or set a desired "new" condition
on those parts. It becomes a very manual process, and I probably don't want
new parts as they will stand out in a second hand set. Note also that the notes
are not highlighted in the cart view - the dimmer grey colour means its easy
to gloss over those.

It would be great if part notes where shown in the "confirm selection" and "edit
selection" modals when shopping a wanted list.

While we're at it, it would be great if there was a "damaged" part state,
to go with "new" and "used", as I definitely do not want damaged parts. Or perhaps
a grading?

Obviously the price guide is just a guide anyway, but there is the downside that
something that sold for example seven years ago will have changed in value. The
idea of the price guide is that it is current. Under your plan if a part sold
765 days ago for $60 and a broken one sold for $10 760 days ago, then only the
last price would show. Whereas if they both sold within six months then both
would show in the price guide indicating one was likely defective.

Keeping single out of date data points is not necessarily better than no current
data. Perhaps keeping the last 10 sales if older than six months and the number
of current points us less than 10 is better.

Always retaining the last 10 sales has been discussed in the past. I thought
that had already voted YES PLEASE on that one, but I don't see it so I guess
that it was discussed only...

So yes, I would like to see the last 10 sales if there were few sales in the
last 6 months.
