Couriers often use it to check if people is home or whether they can leave the
package to a neighbour.

Given we don't even have the tracking number, I basically have no way of
knowing whether the package was delivered to a neighbour or is still in transit.

I believe there is a way to add your phone number to your BrickLink account,
I do not know how to do this and I do not see the option to in my account info,
but I have noticed a lot of the orders I get from newer buyers show their phone
number on the order details page. I have never used it as a seller, but as a
buyer I am sometimes asked to provide a phone number for insurance purposes.

This is what happens:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1326120

As for the tracking number, if you paid via PayPal, you should get a shipping
notice when the seller prints the label, if not you can message the seller and
ask for the tracking number, it may just be that there is no tracking number.

Making phone numbers required has been suggested a few times. If this is important
to you please take the time to search for and vote those older suggestions up
too. You never know when the BL dev. team might be able to fit in something other
than tax updates.

You can add your phone number here:

Store Settings - Message Templates

In the "Thank you, Drive Thru!" template you can use the tracking number you
enter into order details with ORDERTRACKNO variable. You can embed it into a
link if you want if your tracking site allows it. Once you set it up, it's
just entering the tracking number and sending the drive thru message.

There are tons of different courier people use so it would be a hassle for Bricklink
to get it right. One thing though ; for all those orders utilizing international
postal system there is indeed unified tracking sites like 17track and so on.
Still for Bricklink it should be left to sellers to setup. Before coming to this
Bricklink needs more customization options in the storefront.

Next Year?
February of the current one?

Seller wants taxes added to his prices = decrease in sales?

I'm puzzled here...

Pretty sure it's already in the works. It was mentioned it was in their plans
somewhere on the forum in 2021, when the US taxes were being implemented.

Sellers already have the option of providing the tracking number. Some shipping
methods don't come with tracking, and not every seller provides the number
even when it's available to them.

Some buyers optionally include it in their address. I think anything like this
has to be optional, as I don't want sellers using it for other reasons. I
used to include it on ebay until I got a seller texting me telling me to leave
feedback.

Hey hey!

Please take time to read the Help.
Please take time to ask question - and more important to leave time to people
to answer.

Some simple improvements here may take 2 years or more.

This Site is historically complicated, has urgent priorities (like Tax/e-commerce
rules changing every year/Country) - plus a limited Staff and of course budget
(it's cheap here!!!)

Please use the time how it's the best to use it: to get more value of something.

The dedicated forum for Studio and PartDesigner is https://forum.bricklink.com/
(hover over the red Studio icon on every page, then click “Studio Forum”).

You can search the forum for suggestions using the search
box is in the very dark grey banner.
There’s indexes of known bugs and suggestions that you can browse first:
Studio: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5579
PartDesigner: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5589

There’s a subforum, aptly named “Studio Parts,” to ask for parts: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewforum.php?f=6
And there’s a nice “I can’t find this part” FAQ https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6368

It would be good if we could set the checkout process to require a phone number.

I must add that I am not sure how this works regarding data laws in different

I would also say I absolutely need this function. Mexican Postal Service require
a phone number on all international shipments, and many of my US buyers dont
include it, even when I stated it is needed several times throughout my store.

Pandora's box.

What if then the buyer inputs "12345678" as a phone number (or such?)

Who's gonna check if the number is valid - even if the format is valid?
The guy may not have paid his monthly phone subscription...

In short: you need a phone number, write it in the shipping method in big/bold.
If nothing changes, you still have both the order AND the money.

Destress: send a message - this person will send you the phone number

I think it's needed, at least it should be a per store configuration if it's
mandatory on checkout or not.

You can do this with third party software.
BrickStore is very good. You can import a Wanted List, select all parts and
it will give you a total weight.

The issue isn't necessarily that, but rather restocked listing cannot be
notified by the seller again. For ease of listing and other reasons, we have
all our sold-out lots go into the stockroom. If I create a new listing for a
rare piece, I can notify buyers about it. But if it sells out, then I restock
the piece using the same listing, I cannot notify buyers again. The only way
would be to create an entire new listing.

Correct. One of a few quirks with the current system.

I do agree the notify feature could use an overhaul.

And now that Lego owns BL, if they can do it for their website, it's about

I'm sure many others would feel the same way. Thanks for reading.

I like notifications as they are now. The people actively searching for items
get the first chance at buying items and then notifications can be used later
if they haven't sold. It helps to smooth out orders over time.

Just FYI, the packing dimensions data is still comparatively new to BrickLink

The catalogList.asp shows ID, name, and year for the items. Would it be possible
to add at least an option to also show weights and dimensions? An icon array

I'd recommend Logitech MX Master 2S - not the 3, the 2S.

It scrolls normally (with steps) or freely (no steps) automatically depending
the way you're using it: it's a fantastic system.
I can scroll 20 pages in a single scroll move.

And it has plenty buttons, you can set them up, like one for sending the Home
key - so you don't even have to leave the mouse

And you can do this for a specific application, like Firefox or your Browser,
and keep the normal behaviour (or another one) for other applications.

HTH?

Scrolling hurts my hand. I use Tab, Home, End, PgUp, and PgDn extensively. Ctrl

Although not urgent, it's not a bad idea, Jeff.

It's partially implemented anyway, with your Bow n'arrow - To Top
in the lower right on the Home and Individual Stores pages. Maybe
apply it to other more crucial pages too, such as inventory and parts-out pages
that tend to be longer and need more navigating when using?

Up until now, pretty much all the freight forwarders have operated in states
that have no sales tax. This has allowed them to operate outside of the normal
rules. That is changing.

Last November, the Florida legislature enacted a new statute ( Section 212.06(5)(b)
) allowing freight forwarders, operating as a business within Florida, and with
the explicit requirement that the items being forwarded be leaving the USA, to
register with the State of Florida Department of Revenue ( using an Application
for a Florida Certificate of Forwarding Agent Address (Form DR-1FA) ). Florida
is legitimizing the business, and basically neutralizing the zero tax states
advantage.

This impacts BrickLink in two ways: first, BL's tax calculation system (or
service provider) will need to track these addresses, and second anyone with
a shipment to one of these addresses in Florida should (if properly implemented)
see a zero sales tax rate.

I am requesting that those (known and registered) addresses of freight forwarders
(regardless of state) be tagged and signaled so that seller's can choose
if they wish to ship to them or not.

Note that part of this issue (the sales tax rate being other than what is expected
for the state in question) also applies to some Native American reservations
(as I mentioned in another thread earlier today).

With Florida's aggressive move, I expect other states (and primarily those
with significant air freight connections) to implement similar statutes.

What would be really neat is if you could display the list of items in
the same order as the seller had packed them. I have this in my own webshop (as
my invoices list all items alphabetically and buyers can't change it), so
I can number all of the bags and make it very easy for the buyer to verify the
contents that way. On Bricklink that's not possible, because everyone has
their own sorting preferences. If there would be some ability to see in what
order the seller packed (or at least saw) them, think about how much time verifying
orders this could save on Bricklink on a daily basis.

Sometimes I find it is the case that I'm constructing a wanted list with
assorted parts and while not too particular about the color, it is nonetheless
important that some different parts be the same color, whatever it is.

So to facilitate that, I would suggest that one have the ability to specify a
color scheme for any wanted list. For example, say that I intend to build a
three color model, but I am not too particular about the colors. The only thing
I might care about, for instance, is that some subset of the parts be specifically
either all black, all white, or all grey, although I may not be particular about
which.

A color scheme for the wanted list would then look something like this:
A: unspecified
B: black, white, grey
C: unspecified

When specifying the desired color of the part in a wanted list, instead of selecting
a standard color (or "unspecified"), I could alternatively select from one of
the color schemes defined for that wanted list (A-C, in this case). In any
case, each color scheme letter would be a unique color, and all parts that utilize
the same scheme letter would be the exact same color. So if white parts were
found for parts using B, for example, then no parts using A or C will be white.
If one is truly indifferent about the color of the part, then one could still
use the existing "unspecified" mechanism. The important thing here is that during
autopick, all parts referring to the same scheme letter would always have the
exact same color.

The existing workaround to this is to create separate wanted lists that are otherwise
identical except for color, each wanted list looking for the same items, but
with a different set of colors. It is quite tedious for wanted lists with many
different parts, however, and I believe something like the above would simplify
that.

Exclamation mark on the order detail and in the part out details would be very
handy if a part had a known variant. We do our best to match the specific mold
customer ordered but sometimes incorrect variant ends up in the storage bin of
another variant due to errors in the catalog or with sorting error. If you catch
your error at the inventory level it's still not problematic but once someone
orders a variant more than you have it's almost always more involving with
exchanging messages with customer.

Such exclamation mark on the part out details would increase the chances that
someone submit an alternative part catalog change request. (I don't think
it would be done on the legacy system but that addition of alternative part may
be simplified by just asking the user which part was included in the set instead
of what was shown in the catalog)

In the order detail page it would serve the seller to be extra cautious about
the variant, at least there would be higher chance that the situation is assessed
before the order is in the hands of the customer.

I could be wrong but it looks like the promo minifigure from Rome with colesseum
is not listed. It can be found as a custom item but that is all I can find.
To clarify not the chariot with figure, the other similar gladiator figure.

Hi,

When searching our catalog:

1) Always use the Catalog search, not the All Items search.

2) Always put an asterick after everything. 45410* returns lots of great results.

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?searchMethod=searchBoth&q=45410*&catType=&itemYear=&catID=&catLike=W

3) Use the Color Guide - Category Summary path to find things easily.

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp?utm_content=subnav
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&colorPart=1&v=3

Good luck,

long list. Typing in 45410 in the search bar gave 0 results. Typing in 79120
gave me the parts I was looking for. It also does not work by dimensions, and
color gives you every mention of the color, not the color of the brick.

If you do not know the original set, this is almost useless. Can you please enhance
the search so that the color of the brick and the dimensions are selectabletime?
This would save HOURS of time!

Also, putting a reference on the original part number page to show the decorated
variances would be tremendously helpful, both to buyers and sellers.

It would be great if the order was fully updated after a refund.

In my case, I have three different types of bubble envelopes under one shipping
method, but in order to not undercharge shipping cost, I needed to add the weight
of the heaviest envelope. For small orders, this means often actual shipping
cost are less than the customer paid, so I refund the difference.

The order however is not updated, so the numbers are not reflecting the final
grand total.

When refunding because of overcharged shipping, the option needs to be selected,
meaning the Shipping cost field could be updated automatically, which could update
the grand total and VAT as well (if applicable).

For other types of refunds, the same logic applies and the cost of hidden and
the grand total could be updated.

As a US buyer, you have to pay with onsite payment. At this time BL only accepts

Can we please fix the sales tax exemptions for sellers that buy parts for resale

Lego does this stuff intending for it to be noticed. They are. Police and Fire
sets come with a lot of people in the same clothes, but townies dressed alike
are a noticable thing. Another set the next year with the same faces and the
same head in the same narrow release theme? They are.

Do they intend for people to notice that the minifigures in one set are similar
to those in another set, or do they hope that nobody notices that they keep
using the same minifig parts again and again without coming up with new designs?
Unless they start naming characters (like they are doing in some City sets),
I don't see that there is a formal relationship between similar looking minifigs.

Otherwise, it is speculation that similar looking minifigures are definitely
intended to be the same character. If two characters have the same clothes and
hair but different heads / expressions, are they the same person? If they have
different clothes but the same head and hair, are they the same (just changed
outfit)? What if only the hair is the same, have they changed clothes and got
a different expression on their face. What if they dyed their hair and changed
clothes ...?

It is a nice Easter egg type feature that sometimes family groups appear to be
repeated in sets over the years, but does it really need to be catalogued as
fact?

Less of a slamdunk, but

I think I was unclear. I didn't mean to link the man with the woman. I

Surely similar looking characters should have similar keywords in their name.

Often. All the Spider-man are called Spider-man, but the Peter Parkers aren't.
The way we describe town figures doesn't connect them at all. Those CNY
people above are only connected by having black hair.

There are similar City sets that have the same family with the same parents and
the child growing up. We have a couple of Iron Man figures without helmets that
you might expect to find in a search for Tony Stark but won't.

Yep. This kind of stuff would be much better handled with tags, but I don't
think any of it is particularly necessary.

In the case of characters, I don't think a minifigure that represents Spider-Man
needs to be tagged with Peter Parker or linked in any way to a Peter Parker
minifigure. It is a plastic minifigure that cannot change out of costume, so
it will always look like Spider-Man. And the Peter Parker figure will always
look like Peter Parker. The same goes for the Darth Vader / Anakin situation.

And I don't even know why we need to know that two people from two different
CNY sets are *possibly* in reference to the same characters. They might not be.

This seems useful in general but how do we know the examples given are of the
same characters? And wouldn't identifying characters also mean naming them?
For Bruce Wayne/Batman, Tony Stark/Iron Man - that's easy. But random people
attending public celebrations?

I see these listed all the time. Buyers are looking for these, it's not the
seller's fault if the only way these can be listed is under the general listing
with a note.

It is not the only way. There is always the possibility of a custom listing.
Just like a minifigure that is missing a part is not the minifigure, a set of
instruction books missing one or more is not the instructions. So maybe custom
listings are better in that case.

Hi Roxanne,

that´s a great idea. Please do so. I have some as well were books are missing
for whatever reason.
Unfortunatly, i won´t or can´t be a buyers of yours, for shipping reasons.
I don´t buy heavy items from overseas, unless not to get from anywhere nearby,
and only if absolutely necessary.

Good luck, and thank you for your service.

Is there a way to make it show comment colors?

Moreover, the readability of the comment is very messy on the order screen, as
you get the comment appended to the part name, without any separation.

Thank you for the replies.

Ignore the terrible photoshop skills. But just the values in the one screen just
seems logical.

I'm sure this has been suggested.

1: But when doing a part out, why do we have to select NEW or USED each time.
Can I suggested you just need to enter the set one know. From there the part
out screen lists both on the same screen.

Because what you are parting out is either new or used. Doing both at the
same time is likely to lead to errors.

Also you can set the default for what you do most often.

I think the OP may be referring to the part out value screen. In that case: I'd
say logically it should be either all or nothing - if it's going to display
New and Used on one page, it should also display whole minifigures vs minifigure
parts, break sets in set yes vs no.

Besides, there's a little bug in the page where if you choose minifigure
parts, it considers the whole minifigures as "missing" items. I've reported
this and it was going to be fixed, but that must have been 5 years ago or so
by now.. but that's business as usual on Bricklink.

Everything is strongly scented now - lotions, candles, body washes, detergents.
Many people constantly wash their hands now with hand soaps because of covid
(scented of course).

Then there's all of the aromas floating around from when the package is dropped
off until it's delivered. I just got a non-lego package that faintly smelled
like skunk weed.

Why are new parts being washed in the first place. They are coming straight
out of a bag and into inventory. This would seem counterproductive. On the
flip side if parts are arriving with that much odor, I would run a guess that
someone is using maybe and oil diffuser or something like that that might
be causing some of the problem. Even so they would almost have to have it on
the parts directly to cause that much transfer over time.

I find it strange that you both immediately assumed the OP was referring to washing
new LEGO? There was nothing mentioned about that in the post.

There is the word "new" in front of "Lego parts" the first line.

Oh, wow. I feel... I actually read that three times without seeing the word new.
lol I need a nap. Sorry!!

Why would sellers be washing new LEGO parts?

they wash the Legos, I look elsewhere. So give the buyers a heads up.

Well, I think a lot of people are actually wearing perfume or use scented
soap and the smell just permeates their environment like cigarette smoke.
Also, I have received packages that reek of perfume from people whom I am certain
don't wear it. I guess the mail carrier, or the package sorter, or the contents
of a nearby package can have the same effect.
I personally can't stand the smell of tea tree oil but some people just insist
on using it everywhere.

I am sorry that you would bypass my store because I wash my used LEGO. There
are no scents on me.

Why would sellers be washing new LEGO parts?

2: When in Catalog view. There is enough white space to include the part out
value when also searching for sets.

This would save so many unnecessary searches.

Please and thanks.

Hi!

I would love to see the increase/decrease price by % or currency feature during
the part out to inventory process.
This function is already implemented in wishlist price settings.
It would be great to have it as an additional option in the first part out to
inventory form.

Thanks a lot in advance,
Andreas.

Hi

I dont know if this has been looked at or if it is possible to set up on here.
But has anyone looked at pay pal qr code payment as a method as I just noticed
the fees are a hell lot better than mirco and normal pay pal fees. This is only
available to bussiness accounts as far as I am aware of.

For down under (Australia)

Normal Transactions 2.60% + fixed fee ($0.30 cents)
QR Code Transactions – 10.01 AUD and above 0.90% + fixed fee ($0.10)
QR code Transactions – 10.00 AUD and below 1.40% + fixed fee ($0.10)
Mirco payments 5.00% + micropayments fixed fee ($0.05)

As you can see from the above the fees are way cheaper than both mirco and standard
transactions just food for thought.

Thanks a lot

You can download your Wantlists and share the file.
It's only not on that page.

I think that by "Share wanted list" the intention was to share it publicly in
the website, isn't it? Will this option be available?
