  Hi

I am having an issue I have not had in the past. I have a buyer who appears to
have marked an order placed with me as paid, however I had not yet invoiced the
buyer. Now I cannot add a shipping cost to the order prior to sending an invoice.

I also cannot unmark the order as paid.

Has anyone had this issue in the past and if so I would appreciate any advice?

Thanks, Gary

Since the order total is printed in bold, that indicates the invoice has been
sent already. Perhaps automatically?

Toggle some more display settings through https://www.bricklink.com/orderSettingsCols.asp
so you can see all relevant columns.

Since the buyer is in the EU (and you are not), and the amount is under € 150,
Bricklink handles VAT. I'd say that would go through onsite payment, but
in this case maybe it even went through instant checkout. Have you setup some
instant checkout shipping methods? If so, eat your loss, fix the methods and
consider it lesson learned.

I just enabled VAT on BrickLink because I'm now required to. I have been
VAT registered for about 2 years and have been doing all previous sales in that

But from what I can see, BrickLink will now consider 20% of my sales VAT (Danish
VAT percent is 25%, so 20% of the order total is VAT).

Due to sales of more than €10000 EU export in the past year, I have registered
for OSS. According to the Danish tax department, I should now use the customer's
local VAT percent on all orders, not the Danish, i.e. I should include 19% VAT
for German customers. I can't see anywhere that BrickLink supports this.

So how do I do this?

hebt.

The problem with a duplicate entry may be in *any* of your wanted lists, not
just in the one being edited. You have to find and fix that one duplicate entry
before you can edit any other thing.

Start within the color guide: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp
Then select the category for Minifigure heads

The selection in White, Black, Reddish Brown, Medium Brown and Nougat is very

Ik reageer even onderaan ..

Simpele oplossing [Ctrl+A] (alles selecteren) [Ctrl+1]
(celopmaak) [ ] Cellen samenvoegen (grijs vlakje / vinkje weghalen).
Celopmaak - Patroon - Geen. Dan zie je tenminste welke cellen samengevoegd
zijn en waarom.

Of: je kunt het de tab-separated-value-variant (TSV) gebruiken. Dan heb je de
meeste problemen met de opmaak niet.

Succes,

Hans-Peter

Because of all the changes, administration takes more and more time.
It really would help if the following changes / additions would be made for the
Order Download. An Excel download is of no use, for it's all in text mode.

In my Excel download, I would like to see:
- dates as a date record
- amounts and quantities as a digit record, amounts without currency sign
- a total of Order Cost
- an extra column for location (without state/province)

How nice would it be, that I can use Excel to calculate totals per country!

And if it's not too much, I would also like te be able to select EU and an
extra column EU for the download.

Diana

over.

My priorities as a buyer are for Bricklink:

[p=3068bpb1430] To have technically capable personnel that can solve technical
site issues adequately and swiftly. Often I wonder if there is anyone at Bricklink
who still knows about the old school web and database development. Quickly solving
many small issues in a sprint should not be hindered by the long term strategic
development of the site. The fact that Bricklink personnel is still portrayed
with a

Part No: 2439 Name: Container, Trash Can with 2 Cover Holders
*
2439 Container, Trash Can with 2 Cover Holders
Parts: Container
on their head on mfav's comic site is saying something. Compare
Studio where every month a lot of small issues are fixed (definitely not all,
alas), as opposed to Bricklink where hardly ever anything small is fixed at all
or only after years (e.g. packaging dimension on catalog item page).

[p=3068bpb1431] To change the policy on variants. Both sellers and buyers alike
should be able to specify whether or not they distinguish specific variants,
with smart default values for those who don't bother.

[p=3068bpb1432] Add an automatically maintained relationship part versus decorated
part. For newcomers, having to rely on the naming convention only is a steep
entry point. And for the pros, this relationship has its benefits as well.

None of the above is new, but it would be nice if at least something was taken
action upon. Or communicated about. I don't believe I've ever had a single
useful reply from Briklink (plenty from members ) on my suggestions / remarks
/ questions in the forum.

The problem appears to be due to a limit on the number of store pages you may
visit in a day. It will be resolved automatically, until you browse 'too
much' again.

Please raise a helpdesk ticket as it appears the limit (to prevent web scraping?)
is set too low, causing problems with normal shopping like yours.

Just curious as to how the term "cloves" was settled upon for the design on these

[P=3846pb11eu]

[P=3846pb11]

etc.

I would call this figure a "trefoil" and I think that is the correct term in
heraldry too. Heraldric cloves look the attached image.

Maybe due to the a Dutch false friend 'klaver' (= clover) meaning the
plant and the ♣ symbol on playing cards [p=3069bpb0337]
♥ hearts/harten ♦ diamonds/ruiten ♣ clubs/klaver ♠ spades/schoppen

You can provide a name change request here https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReq.asp?itemType=P

  Hey guys,

This has been bugging me for a while. Every time I look at the Bricklink Community,
I keep thinking "woah, all those posts in such a cluttered UX... not sure where
I'd start" and then decide not to post. I mean, it took me a little while
to actually get to the forum index, organised in a way I've seen with other
boards. But then I hit a topic (like this one, [Suggestions]) and get thrown
back to the unorganized, plain text hierarchy. Is there no way for us to implement
the same software that runs the Stud.io forums? Why even two separate forums
running separate software? I mean, I think it has to do with Bricklink and Stud.io
being two separate legal entities, but still, it feels weird and counter intuitive.
It's the second decade of the 21st century, why the outdated look and feel?

Because the look and feel that you call 'outdated' actually is much more
informative, useful and compact than the newer interfaces. Also, Bricklink is
slowly migrating from the classic look to a newer, but change is slow.
When you compare the Studio forum and this one, it is actually the Studio forum
that is rubbish, with broken search and contact functions and a near total lack
of tools for the administrators to work with. It is a 'temporary' add
on for a separate team.

The development teams of Bricklink and Studio are separate (different technology,
different goals), but this has nothing to do with anything like legal entities.

As for the Bricklink forum: you can tweak a lot. It has some nice, well appreciated
features, lie the tree view and the macro tags.

Got one and can't find anything on it.

Many thanks

For the version with blocked open stud, there simply is no place for a number
or logo. Note that the inside walls are not smooth.

For the version with a hollow stud, the molding pip co-insides with the logo
so there is only L(*)O visible in tiny print.

We have plenty of these, if you want to take a look at our store.

Are you sure about that 'plenty'? You have only one lot of over 100 parts,
and no more than a few hundred 2x4's in total. Hardly a scratch towards that
26K needed. Well, it's worth a try

I believe it was not 'some' but 'all'. Aren't these baseplates

I own both types.

I still don't believe the 'original' baseplates are produced any
differently than later cuts. I can imagine that the cut to 48x48 happens earlier
in the process than a recut to 24x24. This would explain the difference in edges.
Since you own two varieties, it is likely that some of the stock was indeed factory
cut from 48x48 plates or similar. Remember, those baseplates were reportedly
commissioned by LEGO, not internally produced.

I've cut up many baseplates as I use glued-on baseplate snippets to label
my drawers and overstock boxes. I just use a good office paper cutter for this.
The whiteness of the cut depends on the temperature and age of the plastic when
cutting. It can easily be lessened by just scraping a knife over the edge.

You can just look at the

Part No: 3001 Name: Brick 2 x 4

3001 Brick 2 x 4
Parts: Brick
entry or use the Store item search for the
larger lots in the UK as a starter: https://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?pg=1&q=3001&sellerCountryID=UK&qMin=100&itemType=P&sellerLoc=C&viewFrom=sf&advOpt=Y&excFavL=Y&excStop=Y&sz=500&searchSort=C

You'll need to collect about 26.000 of these 2x4 Bricks for 2 square meter,
so set a minimum lot size of say a 100 as a starter to weed out the useful stores.

You also might want to consider using Bricks 2x6 as for some colors they may
be effectively cheaper, or stickered or patterned parts (search for "3001*" in
stead of "3001").

In LEGO, wildchicken13 writes:
I've always wondered how LEGO makes sets. I used to sell custom sets and
the process of making them by hand is tedious; I am sure that LEGO has a better
(i.e., automated) way. Perhaps someone here with insider knowledge can share
(or perhaps they are not allowed?)

I also wonder how Pick-A-Brick and Bricks & Pieces work. Does LEGO produce the
parts to order, or do they maintain a stockpile? I usually buy parts in large
quantities, but there is no minimum average lot value, so what would happen if
I ordered one of everything?

You can find out by deduction by browsing sources like YouTube, seeing how things
are packed and reading around on sites like NewElementary (or Bricklink). There
is a video where Russell proudly gives a tour around the Bricklink facility while
they where packing the previous run of sets. There are several videos of How
It's Made - LEGO or factory tours.

Brick & Pieces: those are handpicked (stated in their help section). There are
limits to lot size (I believe: 200 pc) and number of lots (100 or 200?)

Pick-A-Brick: appears to be mostly automated: that's why there is a limited
selection of parts, that are likely automatically counted with a series of counting
carrousels. Judging by my experiences with no more than a few PaB orders, I'd
say they are partly manually packed (smaller or bigger size bag). I think they
will still use the weight checking to assure completeness.

Sets: almost completely automated. For a small set (one bag): a carousel with
bins of each of the parts used in this set. The storage facility is fully automated
(see YouTube documentary) so it is guaranteed the proper parts are transported
from the mega warehouse to the exact bin on the carousel. The carousel counts
out the exact amount of parts designed for this set. Parts are collected in a
bin, automatically wrapped in a bag, checked by weight and transported to the
next stage in packaging. If there is a weight mismatch, parts are ejected into
a manual check line.

The carousel process is repeated for as many bags as are needed to complete the
set. If those are many, then small bags are simply treated as if they were one
big part in one of the bins of the next carousel.

Since weight checking is accurate but still has some tolerances, and because
small parts then to get lost easily, LEGO designs the set content to have 1 extra
of those in each bag. There is an entire department at TLG that just does this:
designing how the parts are distributed over the bags for the ultimate building
experience, with the best reliability and the least damage of the parts.

The only manual action I have seen in those documentaries was the occasional
re-counting of ejected bags and sometimes the final packing of the set boxes
in wholesale boxes.

The warehouse is fully automated: huge, tens of meters high, hundreds across,
not accessible by humans at all. Barcoded or chipped transport containers
moved around by self driving robots. Parts are continuously produced to refill
the warehouse. Planning will be based upon capacity (some 1.500 molding machines),
expected or planned demand (which sets, how many of those, how many parts in
each) et cetera. Entire departments of TLG are dedicated to such planning (or
likely: to develop the software to do this planning automatically). They know
not to produce more than will sell, to limit the number of different shapes and
colors they keep in current stock as they have learned the hard way not to overdo
it regarding variety. Producing with shortage ('limited edition', 'soon
out of stock' or simply 'out of stock' in mind seems part of their
business model. Makes sense from a commercial standpoint.

Hope this helps releave some of your wondering - and makes you wonder even more
about the wonderful product the LEGO System really is.

As you can see in the picture below, if I have already connected the different
liftarms in practice by rotating them to find the right angle (using Pins). Is
there any way to automatically adjust the angles of the two liftarms to join
them in the software Studio, without the need to manually align the holes in
the two liftarms (that's a bit of a hassle)?

If you have any ideas that help to solve this problem, please reply to this help-searching

Thanks a lot for your time:)

You should look for the answer to this on the dedicated Studio forum: https://forum.bricklink.com

The short answer to your question: it has been asked many times, but has not
been implemented yet. You rely on external software or on good old trigonometry.

That's why it was done the way it was done and it might be a reason we don't

But on LDraw (https://www.ldraw.org/parts/official-part-lookup.html?folder=parts&partid=47154c01)
the separate parts have separate numbers, with 47155 the top part and 47154 the
bottom. If that is true, it really should have been a DBG / Dark Gray "47154c01
with Trans-Clear top" and not the current Trans-Clear "47154c01 with DBG or Dark
Gray bottom".

However, LDraw also introduced the fixed bottom color, which is copied by Studio.
Difficult to change if not all the way, starting at LDraw.

  Hi all,

I have several 1970’s lego boxes but all the contents are mixed up in two suitcases
of old lego. I’m wanting to list it all for sale. Am I better off sorting out
all the bits to go in each box, or just selling it as a bunch of boxes and instructions
with the suitcases of lego as one big lot? The latter would be very heavy, but
sorting it out will take a lot of time. Just wondering if there would be much
difference in sale price if I sort them out?

Thanks for your advice in advance.

If you have no intention of spending a lot of time (and joy) on sorting, learning
and handling, you're better of selling the collection as bulk.

You could do this on Bricklink as an 'unsorted custom lot', but you'd
have to upgrade to a seller account first (which involves getting some feedback
from purchases on here), and learn a lot about the process, the particularities
of correctly identifying the parts and acquiring missing parts if you want to
sell complete sets.

Or much easier, you could sell the lot as-is on a place like eBay.

In your case, I'd go with the latter.

See this page: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2504
it explains why (or at least give hints) and tells you how to know more.

For this user (https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/public_gallery.page?idUser=2233763)
it seems the problem is specifically that he mentions the sets he used the parts
of. There is no resemblance between his design and those sets, except for the
part usage. It's not a modification.

Naming the source sets is very useful information and as in essence this makes
it an alternative design of those sets. Isn't this the main purpose of being
able to import the parts of a set in Studio?

I'd see this as a flaw in the algorithm that recognizes suspect infringements.

Also: the gallery search is broken. I can only search through the specific categories,
and not in the entire gallery. Pretty useless when looking for a specific design
or those of a specific user.

@Russell, can you please take notice of this?

A sticker (or print) will not make the peace larger, yes the sticker will ad
a very small dimension increase, but I don't think anyone is able to measure
that (with normal equipment)."

This.

The catalogue contains really thousands and thousands of items that could be
fixed in a minute by BL itself. Basically all printed tiles / bricks / shields
and other printed parts have the same packing dimensions as their unprinted versions.
Same for torso's, legs, heads.

While it's nice that you added this feature you could have done the
above first. This wouldn't be too much of a problem to program/execute, right?
So for all element that have a pb extension this could be automated.
Examples:

Part No: 3004 Name: Brick 1 x 2
*
3004 Brick 1 x 2
Parts: Brick {Blue}
has 244 printed or stickered variants

[P=3069b,7]
has 969 printed or stickered variants

Part No: 2431 Name: Tile 1 x 4
*
2431 Tile 1 x 4
Parts: Tile {Blue}
has 793 printed or stickered variants

and 973pb* (torso) brings up 8620 items - all have the same weight and
packaging dimensions.
Here's the link for this search: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=973pb*#T=A

Russell, now that TLG owns BL you have a wealth of resources that you could have
used before asking the community to help.

TL;DR: why do you ask the BL (seller)community to fill in the gasps in your inventory
while BL/TLG could have this problem solved easily for thousands of parts (perhaps
90% of the parts that are missing packing dimensions).

+1, it has been raised many times before.

I suspect that they may have lost the

the same state as the well bespoken seller tools, that explains a lot. Indeed
at the database level (to be more exact: at the data definition level), this
would simply be adding a rule triggered by an update on the packaging dimension
field.

I am impressed by the paper containers. I don't have the skill or patience
for that. But I do have a 3D printer.

Thanks for sharing

The 'angle metal' is actually PVC 25x25x2 mm profiles. This proved to
be strong enough for this purpose and slides better. But yes, it is a very simple
but effective design: a sheet of triplex but pine strips 7x27 mm or 7x55 mm glued
around and finished with a router bit. Just a tray with boxes. Usually when I
am building, these drawers quickly get spread out on the floor around me. They
are numbered now, so they are easy to put them back at the end of the day.

These paper containers are indeed slightly labor intensive, especially when gradually
filling 100 drawers with 30-65 containers each. Not as much work as figuring
out which LEGO to put where.
You might collect match boxes instead or other remnants from supermarket packaging.

The storage slowly grew from a few boxed and 10 trays/drawers, to around 200
in 9 cabinets now.

I have a growing collection of LEGO parts and I am still looking for the perfect
storage solution.

Lately I have been thinking about designing my own set of storage solutions,
and this is kind of a market study to see if there is a real need for new LEGO
storage solutions.

I would appreciate it if as many people as possible would take the time to answer
the following questions:

1. What do you use to store your LEGO parts?
2. Are you happy with it? Why/Why not?
3. What do you expect from a good storage solution?

Thanks for your participation!

My storage is for building, not for selling, which should make a huge difference
in how to efficiently store.

Essential is to have removable containers when you store loose bricks. If you
need more than a few parts from the container, just tip it over. Much easier
picking from a surface than out of a tight container.

As a builder, the same goes for the drawers: easy to take out, easy to spread
out around.

On the picture it is all home made from paper and wood. Upto 65 matchbox sized
containers in a single drawer. I uses various sizes to adjust for amount and
part size. Inside the bigger drawers I use the bottom 5 cm (2 inch) of empty
Tetrapack cartons. 20 or more in a single drawer. Overflow in zipbags in 40 liter
plastic containers.

The smaller drawers in the left of the image proved not to be as versatile as
the wide drawers with loose containers.

If you need more ideas, similar questions popup frequently on the forum with
lots of response. So you just for them.

Are they clicked into place and 'need pressure' or a tool using a certain
method for disassembly or could they possible be glued/heat formed into place
with no hope of removal. 4010 in particular has 2 holes in 2 adjacent studs for
some reason that might allow a long thin prong tool access to a internal clip
but am loathed to attempt until I know more. 4005 has no such design.
Any advice no matter how small appreciated.
Many Thanks
Al

Assuming you are talking about

Part No: x146c01 Name: Boat, Hull Smooth Middle 8 x 6 x 3 1/3 with Light Gray Deck
*
x146c01 Boat, Hull Smooth Middle 8 x 6 x 3 1/3 with Light Gray Deck
Parts: Boat
in sets like

Set No: 4005 Name: Tug Boat
*
4005-1 (Inv) Tug Boat
62 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1982
Sets: Boat
: those are
formed in the factory as to be water and air tight as these boats are intended
to actually float.

You need the

Part No: x149 Name: Boat, Keel Weighted 8 x 2 x 4
*
x149 Boat, Keel Weighted 8 x 2 x 4
Parts: Boat
to stabilize the boat in your bathtub or pond. Playing
with those boats in the bath tub is amongst my earliest childhood memories. The
boy next door I played along with even had a battery powered motor attached to
these. Haven't seen that in the catalog. Don't even know it that was
real LEGO.

I noticed that I can only see my own pending relationships, and there is no mention
of them here for what others may have already submited:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogPend.asp

It seems relationships are also missing from the logs index:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogLogs.asp

Although you can sort the current, accepted relationships by date:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogRelList.asp?showUsers=Y&v=1&pg=1&viewDate=Y

No pending relationships there either.

Am i just crazy to think that the shift key does not work in Inventory list of
BL.
Example. I just want to put lets say just mini-figs on sale, why in the world
do i have to hit each tic box? Why cant i just hit the first one hold shift and
hit the last one.

Am i missing something? It works for me everywhere else outside of BL

It is a technical issue that you will find on almost every web interface.

[Ctrl] and [Shift] only work to extend a selection if the data is contained in
a single control, usually a list control. What you are looking at on Bricklink
is a web page, basically an entire text document, not a single list control.
The web report just contains a bunch of essentially non-related checkbox controls.
Your browser would not have a clue how to interpret your [Shift+Click] other
than to select the text from point A to point B, which may or may not include
the entire set of checkbox controls.

I don't know the seller interface, but on various other pages on Bricklink
at the very top of your list of checkboxes, there is an extra checkbox to click
for [Select all].

For buyers: yes: top right of the screen.

For sellers: no. You can't see which future buyers you might get when they
bring their carts to a buy.

How to test it?

Just close the little pipe vent with your thumb and press the cylinder. It should
not move.

Nope, what's 'new' is packaging dimensions. The general dimensions
of the parts have been there for ages and have been defined. The only thing missing
is displaying the proper full units on some forms and pages.

General info on part dimensions (this is the new article):

Specific for measurements in studs and bricks (this is the original article):

  Hello,
I have adding quite a few parts over the last few days, and it seems to take
too long.
Any tips on sorting these parts and cataloging them?
I currently am just adding them into brickstore and mass upload-ing.
Thanks,
The Brick llama

For batches of 20-5000 parts with wide variety, low lot counts and few stickers,
I find Studio working the fastest.
Pre-sort your parts by major category, then by shape and end by color. Just place
the bricks in piles on the grid. Collision detection off. Piles of 5 or 10 can
easily be copied for larger quantities. Don't bother with the few parts you
can't find in Studio; you can always add them manually.

Finally, just export the Model Info / Bill of Materials into a wanted list.

genuine Lego.

The door I have only found one in the catalog that measures 1x4x5 (studs) the
one I have is 6 studs High.

Part No: 4131 Name: Door 1 x 4 x 5
*

Height is not measured in studs, but in brick heights of the surrounding frame.
