Of course BL's definition is a bit less strict.

A fair argument. That being stated, BL *is* TLG, now that the latter owns and
defines policy for the former. Not to put too fine a point on it, of course.

Lol. However, BL is not the seller here. Not yet at least

Ah, I see now. I had misconstrued your use of the word 'source'.

"Please do not use phrases such as "Like New" or "As New" in the description

I wonder why? It's clear for NEW items to not do this, but for USED ones?

Or even more frightful, the seller stores their inventory this way while continuing
to list it as new. I only mention this because the sheer number of parts indicated
by the two pics, as well as the fact that a lot of them are small, at least suggests
this. I cannot see any seller with a customer-first mentality taking the extra
time to stack this many parts at the expense of delaying shipment.

For my part, I agree with other commenters on this thread that the parts in questions
have now - however inadvertently - been rendered used. Before I continue, however,
it might be well to highlight BrickLink's current policy regarding New vs
Used parts (https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102):

-----------------------------
* New Parts - Parts are brand new, taken directly from new sets or were purchased
"as new" in another form such as accessory packs or Pick A Brick and have been
handled only for sorting. These parts have never been used in any manner. If
a minifigure or part assembly was originally sold assembled by LEGO, its component
parts after disassembly can also be listed as new.

* Used Parts - Parts which have been previously used and are presumably still
in good, usable condition. If the parts show excessive wear, discoloration, excessive
scratches, other marks, etc. this should be noted in the *Comments* field. Sticker
sheets missing stickers must be listed as Used.
-----------------------------
(Note: I had a devil of a time finding this. A proper quest.)

The one anomaly here that may serve in the seller's favor are the words "have
been handled only for sorting." Can 'handled' entail the act of stacking
for the sole purpose of consolidating shipping space? I realize of course that
the very next sentence reads "These parts have never been used in any manner."
But does 'used' here mean 'connected to another part'? I see
no mention of it, but I welcome correction if I'm mistaken. In the absence
of such clarification, however, it could be construed as circular logic.

Potential Action Items:

For Original Seller (for that matter, any BL seller) - Strongly suggest ceasing
connecting any parts together, new or used, prior to shipping unless buyer requests
such clearly and in writing. Observe what happens otherwise.

For BrickLink (TLG, et al) - Suggest clarification of New parts vs Used parts
to include or exclude stacking for sole purpose of shipping. (Although again,
for my part, I agree that once parts are connected, they are rendered used.)

Technically correct answer - the stacked parts are now used.

My personal opinion - as a buyer (not a reseller) I wouldn't care if I ordered
new parts and got them stacked. I'm buying new for their condition and being
undamaged (other than typical damage from banging-around in a bag). I would
assume most people plan to actually use their pieces, and not plan to display
them in a pile to maintain their "newness".

Again, as a seller as well I understand the rules and do not stack any new parts
I sell. I made the same mistake of stacking new parts when I started selling
until I found-out it was not appreciated.

In your situation I might ask for a partial refund and then list them as used
but like-new and only stacked once.

Is it a newer seller? Maybe it just didn't cross his mind that this shouldn't
be done for new pieces. I know when I started out I wasn't aware at how particular
I should be about new pieces. However, if he isn't a new seller, then he
should definitely know better.

I'd ask for a partial refund for the stacked pieces; maybe 50% of their value
or something along those lines.

I agree, anything assembled is used. It shows you are one the good sellers by
asking this question, we have bought from each other a few times and I'll
continue to do so.

I know that feeling :-/

Bricklink says:
"New Parts - Parts are brand new, taken directly from new sets or were purchased
"as new" in another form such as accessory packs or Pick A Brick and have been
handled only for sorting. These parts have never been used in any manner. If
a minifigure or part assembly was originally sold assembled by LEGO, its component

The part "If a minifigure or part assembly was originally sold assembled by LEGO,
its component parts after disassembly can also be listed as new." - so I guess
it's not a problem if you have other cases where they have been stacked.

Of course you can also confront the seller with it, asking for a partial refund
or so (maybe the difference of what the prices are between new and used - if
you're listing them as used in your shop now).

Should have specified that the exception is where it was preassembled by Lego
before packaging for sale.

I believe that BL’s definition of new includes the specification of unassembled.

United Kingdom 20

And what about Monaco?

https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/business/vat/eu-vat-rules-topic/territorial-status-eu-countries-certain-territories_en

There are special rules for Northern Ireland, from within the EU it should be
20% (based on UK VAT rate I guess) and then the code XI is used as if it were
an EU country. See https://www.avalara.com/vatlive/en/vat-news/brexit-northern-ireland-vat-and-eoro--xi--number.html

As for Monaco, I think that is part of the French VAT system so its 20% is used.

Thanks!

Hi,

as the 1st of July is comming closer, I want to ask if there are any news about
this?

Will Bricklink provide any tools to support EU-VAT-Sellers on that matter?

Thank you very much!

For buyers: yes: top right of the screen.

For sellers: no. You can't see which future buyers you might get when they
bring their carts to a buy.

Hi Russell,

Sorry to "rain on this parade" but how is it something like this stays so well
hidden under the radar?
I've just spent 5 minutes searching all over this platform and cannot for
the life of me find any mention outside of these forum posts of a "catalog news
letter", nor did I receive any communication about the possibility to receive
this news letter.

I would have expected something like this to appear here:
https://www.bricklink.com/messageList.asp?nID=&ID=78&v=c&max=20&mTP=Y
Too logical?

Seems one has to enroll into an e-mail listing to receive it. Wouldn't it
make more sense to just send the newsletter out to every member of this website?
That would even make sense from an HR POV as it might entice lesser / non active
members to return to the platform to do their buying.

This remains up to date my largest pet peeve with this platform and is something
which I've aired in the market place forum as well: this is NOT an intuitive
website. One has to search all over the place for both the simplest of things
as the more technical issues.

One should not need a Forum to find out where things are; IMO it should be possible
for a 5 year old to find the basic functionalities.

OK, rant over and apologies to be negative about something that is clearly a
very positive development.

So, could anyone point out where one would be able to join this newsletter?

Erikk

  Hello,
I have adding quite a few parts over the last few days, and it seems to take

Any tips on sorting these parts and cataloging them?
I currently am just adding them into brickstore and mass upload-ing.
Thanks,
The Brick llama

For batches of 20-5000 parts with wide variety, low lot counts and few stickers,
I find Studio working the fastest.
Pre-sort your parts by major category, then by shape and end by color. Just place
the bricks in piles on the grid. Collision detection off. Piles of 5 or 10 can
easily be copied for larger quantities. Don't bother with the few parts you
can't find in Studio; you can always add them manually.

Finally, just export the Model Info / Bill of Materials into a wanted list.
