What happened to Star Wars minifig codes sw1144 & sw1146? Are we just skipping
numbers now, as neither of them exist!
I don’t get why Yoda was changed from sw1144 to sw1145 for no apparent reason?

This yoda is from the atlas book that I just received. The yoda is in a clamshell
in front of the book with a camera, walking stick, map, and backpack. The yoda
was assembled already. My question is that I see the picture of sw1144 with the
backpack on but it was not assembled that way on the clamshell—do we need another
picture of yoda without backpack or just let it be?

Brown isn’t in the Known Colours column for me.
It’s in the Price Guide Information column though, maybe you’re mistaking the

I am a curious person. I am curious about this and think it is natural to be.
I am also often frustrated by obituaries that almost never tell what happened.
No, we don't DESERVE all the details, but I totally understand why people
would be curious.

I have enjoyed many collaborations with Stormchaser. He knows how I feel about
him. Whether on staff or not in the future, I hope he will continue to contribute.
If his life has changed and he doesn't have the time, maybe he will return
later. If his feelings have been hurt and he needs some time or never wants
to come back, I understand that. There is still a lot of work to do on the catalog,
but at the end of the day none of us do it unless it is fun. Some day I will
quit. Not soon, I think. Meanwhile there are some ugly old renders and some
some undetermined coconut trees, so I'm going back to work.

Submit it to the instructions entry for 40315-99. This is a special trick that
was created for gear sets that had instructions. Hopefully, all of these will
be sets come October so we won't have to worry about this anymore.

Seems disingenuous, your expression of concern. He’s a big boy, that I don’t

I appreciate Robert and his efforts as much as any others here, and before most:

He’s quit the catalog team before though: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1178543

He’s also gone to the extent of quitting BL altogether, unregistering vowing
publicly never to return: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1123830

Only to be reinstated by that evil BL office (admin) you seem incessant in denigrating.

Ouch! You got me there: I harbor no good feelings toward the BL office. However,
I do generally admire your positivity and wish I had more of it. I used to look
on the better side of things and now I don't.

There's too many things that could be better if they chose to make them better.
This rankles me. I do try to be supportive and kind when I see genuine effort.
I help newbies, I support our admin, I contribute. So, I am incessant in wanting
things to be better. You're right. 'Denigrating' implies that I am
lashing out without cause. Is that fair?

I don't feel good about what happened. I think we are worse off. If I came
across as disingenuous, that was not my intent.
Take care,
Jen

We are sad to inform you that our Catalog Adminstrator StormChaser is no longer
part of the Community Expert Program. We will be updating the Community Admin
page soon.

StormChaser has positively influenced the catalog in many ways, and his passion
for documentation and organization are legendary. We are planning to move ahead
with initiatives he has set in motion and keep alive his vision for a better
catalog.

We must also mention that this is a difficult time for the catalog team, as they
have lost two very experienced admins since the beginning of the year. In the
coming weeks we will announce some plans for the future.

The BrickLink Team

We hope he continues to be a part of the community and want to express our deepest
gratitude for his help personally to us as users and broadly to the community
here on BL.
We can't imagine what a thankless 'job' it is to volunteer for the
betterment of a community and be constantly criticized by users who can't
deal with changes even though those changes have only upgraded and elevated the
catalog.

need to know 'why?'

VERY WELL SAID.

I very much doubt we are going to get one. The BrickLink office's lack of
transparency is well-documented. Personally, I think it stinks.

There are two different types of transparency here though - transparency about
decisions concerning the catalogue and transparency about decisions concerning
employment (whether paid for or not).

They should clearly be transparent about decisions connected to the catalogue.
However, they should not be transparent about why someone is no longer doing
something they used to do. It could be a whole range of things, from wanting
payment for voluntary work, a difference of opinion over part movements or definitions,
things moving at the wrong speed, through to more personal reasons such as someone
deciding they cannot do it for employment or medical or family reasons or just
that they have done it long enough and want a break. Unless the person involved
wants to tell us, then I don't think we need to know the reasons. I don't
see that as a lack of transparency, just privacy.

Kind regards, Jan.

The catalog didn't use to be this way. I was an admin for three years. We
were members and leaders and accountable to the community. For years now, when
you ask an admin for an explanation for a decision, you get one. Robert made
the system even better with published goals, definitions, plans, and community
discussion. Every move the BL office makes to move the catalog more toward them
and away from us is bad news. They are not accountable to us, have practically
no customer service, and have very little LEGO expertise among them. They didn't
build this catalog but they did buy it. So, there we are.

I've noticed for months that our admins, who have traditionally been some
of the most vocal people here on the Forum, are now largely silent. I doubt this
is a coincidence. I wouldn't speak for them, but I will speak for me. Whatever
the reason, the admins that work so hard and support our community have my respect
and support. I think we can all see from the XP site what our catalog would look
like without them.

Just because people are curious about it doesn't mean they are entitled to
the information. People have lives beyond BrickLink which details they rather
not share on BrickLink, it's perfectly fine you have to respect that.

It isn't about transparency, it doesn't change anything for the BrickLink
Catalog Admin team whether you know why two of their members left it.

If StormChaser wants to share the reasons of their departure, they'll do
it, in the meantime please stop prying.

  Why not?

Users might be interested to know.
Maybe some user considers volunteering.

If the former volunteer doesn't want to share it's fine, but a company
can of course share this information if the former volunteer is OK with that.

Not giving such insights generally results in negative thoughts. Transparency
and clarity goes a long way!

  2) This gear has an "instructions" entry, but my set had no instructions in the
bag. Is this the correct way to handle this situation?

The instructions entry should be removed.

Oops. In other words, I found the instructions. How they ended up where they
did I can't guess.

So please recreate the instructions entry. They weigh 5.6 grams. I don't
see the possibility of setting a weight in the gear change form.

I'd like to include the dimensions of the instructions as well. Do I enter
the folded or unfolded size in the form?

Why?

The reason that a volunteer no longer volunteers is nothing to do with anyone
else. If the volunteer wants to say why then that's fine, but a company should
not give out such information without the volunteer knowing.
