Well... we do force buyers to give personal information, don’t we?

I agree with the OP, a phone number should be required. Most shippers are starting
to require it, so why not remove some of the hassle in a smooth BL transaction
by requiring a phone number of all buyers?
Oh, I know why this will never happen... taxes...

I understand the requirement and the usefulness, but you can't force someone
to give out personnal information if you don't want to give it. Simple as
that.
Personally I put my own telephone #. Never had a call in 15 years...
