| The beatbox contents images are misleading.
and so on.
These sets contain 16 tiles, 14 of which are random. Shouldn't the random
ones have been blurred out so as not to mislead buyers.

| I know BL is quite strict about names and using the correct diacritics, umluats,
accents, and so on.
For example, ages ago I asked if "Mesut Özil" could be called "Mesut Özil (Mesut
Ozil)" (and similar requests for the others) to help out English speakers searching
for him but it was denied and only the correct spelling retained.
There are other cases such as
* | | 54821pb02 Ball, Bionicle Zamor Sphere with Marbled Trans-Yellow Pattern (Palantír, Palantir) Parts: Ball |
where the alternative is allowed. In fact, for CC, the correct name is in brackets
and the Anglicised "Cafe" used as the main title.
But then there are these figures:
On the box of 76120 in the minifigure panel, LEGO identify him as Shazam! and
not Shazam. So should the entry also follow this as Shazam! and not Shazam ?
The polybag title is Shazam! not Shazam. So presumably the ! does not break BL
in any way.
Is this request worth putting in, or would it be denied? Shazam or Shazam! both
lead to the same search results so at least in this case it is not a big deal
not finding what you want if you use a different spelling to LEGO.

| Turn off (the completely useless) search suggestions.
For example, I want to search for 850939, I enter that term and hit return. Instead
of searching for that, the search is replaced with "850939 formerly". Yes, I
know that instead of hitting return I can instead stop using the keyboard, grab
the mouse, move it and click search. Meaning I have to do more than entering
the term I want and hitting return, which is what I would expect to do based
on just about every other search engine works.
Given that BL's search is quite pathetic anyway - no fuzzy search, no plural
search, etc. would it be possible to turn off the suggestions for searches as
these are nearly always unhelpful and actually distract from the search I type
in.
If not, at least have the search default to sets at the top of the suggested
list, followed by parts and remove boxes and instructions or have these last
(as these can be found from one click from the set).

| This makes finding similar things overly complicated.
Medium legs are are in this category
and some printed ones are in the decorated equivalent
That makes sense.
Yet others are apparently modified legs, although I cannot see how - I can just
see print differences
The dress / skirt piece is in body parts
and printed ones are in there too, as there is no decorated equivalent
[p=36036pb01]
[p=36036pb19]
Yet others are catalogued as modified legs - again I can just see print differences
[p=36036pb20]
[p=36036pb21]
[p=36036pb22]
It also seems a bit odd to call a single part an assembly.
Yet there are modified legs, but these are not catalogued in modified legs but
go with the regular legs
What exactly is the modified legs category meant for?

Author: | yorbrick | Posted: | Sep 10, 2020 04:59 | Subject: | Superman - is this allowed in the catalogue? | Viewed: | 172 times | Topic: | Catalog | Status: | Open
| I have the original unused sticker from SUPERMAN-1
https://brickset.com/sets/SUPERMAN-1/Superman
Is this allowed in the catalogue? I know the set is banned from bricklink, but
I can see the instructions are allowed
[g=superman]
They are gear rather than instructions, presumably as they cannot be listed as
instructions if it is a non-existent set.
Is the sticker sheet allowed to be sold here? And if so, where should it go?
It is not really any different to the instruction sheet, in that it was an in-store
giveaway but then it is a bit like the Castle Byers non-set, in that it came
with instructions and a sticker sheet. For that one, I can see the instructions
in the catalogue but not the sticker sheet.

Author: | yorbrick | Posted: | Jul 4, 2020 05:53 | Subject: | Stop showing estimated shipping charges | Viewed: | 177 times | Topic: | Suggestions | Status: | Open | Vote: | [Yes|No]
| BL should stop showing estimated shipping and handling charges, as this gives
a false impression of what they are. For example, I almost placed an order at
this store. But reading through the terms, there are extra handling fees, extra
paypal fees and different shipping costs to those estimated and shown here.
Showing an estimated value gives a false impression, and may lead to a (supposedly
legally binding) order being placed only to find out the actual costs are significantly
higher than those estimated.
Of course, this could be completely removed by making the orders non-binding
until the seller has disclosed all costs and the buyer has a chance to agree
to them. But in the meantime, stop misleading buyers with incorrect estimated
values.

| Why does bricklink show this? A simple IF statement could be used to only show
a discount when it is possible for a buyer to achieve. Then it doesn't make
the store look stupid by offering discounts that a buyer cannot possibly take
advantage of.

I notice the head of the Fright Knight from CMF S19 is listed as female. Has
LEGO ever confirmed that this character is meant to be female? I couldn't
find the online bios like they used to do.

Author: | yorbrick | Posted: | Feb 19, 2020 09:31 | Subject: | Custom prints/stickers ... | Viewed: | 207 times | Topic: | Catalog | Status: | Open
| There is still something I do not understand about custom items and LEGO/BL rules.
Modified Parts: All parts listed in your store must be genuine LEGO parts
in their original, unmodified condition. Custom printed, engraved, chromed, or
painted parts are not permitted.
Non LEGO Items: Certain non LEGO items that are deemed by BrickLink to be part
of LEGO fan culture may be listed. These include literature about LEGO products,
LEGO memorabilia, and items used to make custom sets (e.g. stickers, instructions,
and boxes).
As I read the rules, a custom printed (or painted) minifigure with genuine LEGO
parts is banned. However, the exact same design can be printed onto a sticker
and would then be allowed if it is used to create a custom set. This set could
be a minifigure - so minimally a head, torso assembly and legs. So custom printed
minifigures are banned if the print is direct on the minifigure, but minifigures
with custom prints attached to them via stickers are allowed.
Is this a correct view of LEGO's new rules?
Custom stickers would obviously be non-LEGO, but how does anyone know if a new
design they create will be deemed by someone that works at Bricklink to be part
of LEGO fan culture (whatever that means).
For example, I have a load of Brickforge custom sticker decals for torsos. They
have existed for years - are they part of fan culture? What if I create a new
torso sticker design, is that part of fan culture because stickers have been
used to decorate torsos (both officially and unofficially) in the past, or not
part of fan culture as the new design has no history and is not part of fan culture.

| I notice that there are now a number of things like this in the catalogue under
GEAR:
[g=ST1]
[g=superman]
What are these meant to be?
Looking at Castle Byers, some people are usnig the listing to sell the set, some
the stickers, some sets with custom stickers, another the set with custom prints,
etc. No-one is actually selling just the instructions!
Is the intention that these should really just be the instructions given that
they come under a category called "Building Event Instructions"?
If so, why are they not listed like normal instructions? Is it because BL does
not recognise these as sets, and properly listed instructions must have sets
to go in?
I remember trying to add the Superman set long ago, and it was denied. But now
it seems the instructions do exist in BL's view, but the sets do not exist.
The strange thing is, when I got my Superman, they were using laser copy / printed
instruction sheets and you could get the PDF if you wanted it, but they did not
have "genuine" instruction sheets.

Has anyone actually seen this part in a BAM box with the mitt attached? I have
seen multiple of them in three different stores now, and they do not have the
mitt. They have a single hand and a missing hand. You can add either a mitt or
a hand, staff don't care.
So should this be listed with a mitt, given that this is not how it is supplied?
Or at least have a note about this, as not all the torsos will have mitts.

Is there a reason this keeps getting changed?
This set was originally listed as Actor, it was then changed to Thespian. I asked
for the Actor name to be reinstated, which it was, and then it was removed again.
The minifigure version has both names:
Why can the set not keep both names?
And on their webpages, LEGO refer to it as ACTOR. If it can have only one name,
then surely it should be the LEGO one.
