I think it's probably your mistake, for two reasons. First, 3005 1x1 bricks
have only been produced once in Trans-Neon Orange, in 2005 for set 7258, which
only had ONE copy. So the piece is very rare, whereas 3005 in Trans-Orange has
been in over 60 sets and is currently in production. Additionally, since 3005
in Trans-Neon Orange is only from 2005, which was before the transition to the
newer, redder Trans-Neon Orange color, it's very likely that the part only
exists in the older, milkier version of Trans-Neon Orange. If you think you found
redder ones, they're probably actually Trans-Orange, which also has an older/newer
shade difference with some looking more red than others.
Second, I've been cataloging 500,000 used parts over the last 6 months, and
I've been separating the newer and older shades of Trans-Neon Orange. I've
looked at them all under a blacklight, and they ALL fluoresce. The older shade
fluoresces more brightly, but the newer redder ones definitely fluoresce as well.
Every. Single. One. Whereas Trans-Orange never fluoresces, ever.

I posted recently that I found out some of my Trans-Orange candle flame parts
fluoresce under black light. . This part is not supposed to exist
in Trans-Neon Orange.

With how much detail-work I've been doing with colors recently, I could probably
definitely identify which color they are from a high-quality non-blacklight picture
if you can obtain one.

Weird! I'd be very interested in seeing a comparison picture of that part
next to Trans-Neon Orange parts under a blacklight. I've personally never
found a non-neon part that fluoresces, but I know they definitely exist, and
I've seen pictures of Old Dark Red fluorescing as well as comments from other
users on other colors.
On the flip side, though, I've never seen evidence of actual Neon parts NOT
fluorescing, and I'll remain skeptical without photo evidence of it.

Disagree. Because minifigures are typically only 3-5 parts, their completeness
must be defined differently. Minifigures are not just "a specific collection
of parts," they're "a specific collection of parts that constitutes a complete
figure." A set missing 1 or 2 parts is an incomplete set; a minifigure missing
1 or 2 parts is just a couple of random parts. IMO, Boba Fett without a helmet
isn't Boba Fett (just one example, but it illustrates my point).

I don't think you have any proof for this claim, and I don't think any
exists. It's doubtful that requiring minifigures to be complete or be broken
down into parts will meaningfully impact Bricklink as a marketplace.

But that's not what happens most of the time. Over 7 years of buying Lego,
I've virtually never seen incomplete figures on Bricklink missing only a
common/cheap part. Usually, they're missing the only piece that gives the
figure value but are still listed at nearly full price (see: Angelica/Radagast
and the Dark Tan feather). If the missing part is so inconsequential, sellers
should replace it themselves before selling the figure.

not want to break apart given it is more desirable or worth more as a whole instead
of pieces, makes eBay a better marketplace for the item. eBay should NEVER be

I doubt anyone will find better luck selling incomplete figures on eBay. The
vast, vast majority of buyers don't want them. You're overestimating
the demand by a lot. And why is it so hard to list those 2 or 3 parts from a
minifigure separately? Since components are usually worth more individually than
together, the seller will usually make more money listing each part separately,
even if it takes longer to sell all the components.

to eliminate the ever so common "missing ----" descriptions sellers often
currently use (though shouldn't) under the same catalog entry for the undefined
figure. Buyers shop specific figures, and as such should have the option to
buyer complete or incomplete as meets their needs.

Those "missing" descriptions are being eliminated anyway, since the new policy
is being enforced. If buyers want to buy a partial minifigure, they can easily
buy each of the parts individually. There's no need to search out the one
seller who listed an incomplete fig with exactly the parts they need.

The are 2 version of this set.
with 30 Black
And
with 36 Light Bluish Gray
Looks like you have the 2 version.

I initially thought the same thing, except I have the light up Mace Windu and
that’s only found in the first version. So it’s strange that I would have the
directions for the light up one that shows only gray technic pins. Also, the
dark red slope has the end that’s only found in version 1. Weird.

I had a similar experience. My copy of 7261 came in a very well-curated collection
of Star Wars sets, most of them looking like they'd only been displayed.
There were very few extraneous pieces or missing pieces. And yet the lot came
with the non-light-up Mace Windu and the parts for that version of the set...
but the instructions for the light-up version. There was no reason to think the
collector had manually replaced the instructions, since the lot was pretty much
complete.

I believe you have to use "Change" and enter the Inv Item ID and "1" in the Qty
field as your only change. Choosing "Delete" will always delete the entire entry
rather than paying attention to anything you put in the other fields.

| Back at the beginning of July there was a thread about removing 5 entries for
"smooth slopes," and the consensus seemed to be strongly in favor of removing
them.

| Hey all!
I'm Jordy, a.k.a. Brickitty. For those whom it may concern, I wanted to make
a post to alert you that I'll be pretty active in adding stickered parts
to the catalog and making Inventory Change Requests, (mostly for adding those
stickered parts as Counterparts and for getting rid of Undetermined variant entries),
especially over the next few months.
You may have seen the request I made concerning part 2453 a week or two ago,
and I was inspired by all the work that Turez and paulvdb did to make those changes
and the recent changes on part 4623 Undetermined. I'm currently going through
a large inventory of used parts, likely over 500,000, and I'll be doing my
part to help with the grunt work when I find more entries that could use work
like 2453.
Immediate plans are to make similar Inventory Change Requests for part 44301,
specifically to change all pre-2009 (or pre-2008 to be safe) sets from 44301
Undetermined Groove to 44301a. I have many of those sets in my personal collection,
and the same logic applies that applied with 2453 variants. Also, I have a full
set of stickered parts from sets 76088 and 60141, neither of which have their
stickered counterparts listed in the catalog. I'll take pictures of them
and start the process to add them to the catalog and then as Counterparts for
their sets, after my trial with part 4532pb06 went well the other day.
If there's anything I should know or do differently, please educate me!

No, not yellowed white. I've had several pieces like that recently, but this
color is consistent throughout the piece. I've looked at several color charts
and I believe it to be #33 Light Yellow but nothing shows this piece coming in
that color.

I've come across some older parts that were yellowed evenly all over, including
the undersides, likely due to breakdown of chemicals in the piece rather than
sun exposure. They were produced before Light Yellow existed.

I'm not advocating for adding more entries to the catalog -- I did find
a few hoses that were irregular, but not many in my entire collection. What I'm
suggesting is changing the length in centimeters for each hose, adjusting them
all down by 0.2 centimeters. The vast, vast majority of the hoses I checked,
including brand-new ones from specific sets, were almost exactly 0.2 to 0.3 centimeters
shorter than the length listed. And this was consistent all the way from 3 studs
long to 28 studs long. I would suggest shortening the length in centimeters by
0.2cm across the board in order to be more precise.

Yes, it's normal. I just opened hundreds of sealed sets from 2015-2017 and
another few dozen individual sealed bags from 2005-2018. Not only is it normal
to have groove/no groove differences in the same set, but it's also normal
for the proportion of them to vary between different copies of the same set,
even bought at the same place on the same day. Same for hollow stud/blocked open
stud on heads and certain other pieces, same for hollow/solid underside tubes
on bricks and plates, same for virtually every mold difference.

Yes, please get rid of the entries for smooth slopes. They're the only entries
in the catalog that I heartily dislike, so much so that I've actually ranted
to my partner about how ridiculous it is to have the entries in the system (she
rolled her eyes and ignored me, but that's beside the point).
I'm launching a huge store in a few months (500,000 used parts), and I'm
fully separating every mold difference that Bricklink lists, plus a bunch that
aren't listed. I like to be precise. It's almost a compulsion. But despite
my desire to do that wherever possible, I decided a few months back that I wouldn't
list "smooth slopes" regardless of the entries for them, since I believe they
don't belong in the catalog. So eliminating those entries would be quite
nice for my desire for completeness and accuracy

| Great catch!
I have a lot of these pieces, over 100, most in Light Gray from old Harry Potter
sets but also some newer ones in Dark Bluish Gray and Dark Tan. Not a single
one has the variant with the support facing toward the step. I'd assume that
one is rarer, but I'd love to see what others have to say.

Thankfully, since there are so many headlight bricks with varying levels of partial
holes. It was definitely a manufacturing defect.

The long answer:
It only came out in 2005, and for all intents and purposes, the only fully-distributed
set it was in was 7251 Darth Vader Transformation. Until Lego released an updated
version of that in 2017, it was a fairly high-demand set because that scene in
Revenge of the Sith is iconic. But sets released in 2004-2005 typically had short
shelf lives because of Lego's color transformation and changes in the company.
So higher demand + lower supply = a fairly expensive set -- it still averages
$28 for 53 pieces, or $0.53/piece, and I remember seeing it go for $35-$40
a few years back. Since there are very few exclusive parts in the set besides
the figs, the few exclusive/rare parts get priced up extremely high, likely because
of people trying to Bricklink the set.

I agree with the change based on the little research I've done today and
what others have said. However, it is possible (though unlikely) that a straight
DBG version of this plate was made. Forcing everything over would mess up some
sellers if they had the rare version (which again, probably doesn't exist).
Let me contact some of these sellers and I'll reply back later with the results.
Or, if you'd be willing to continue contacting them yourself it would be
appreciated.

I believe it is asking a bit much that we purchase from stores whenever errors
are discovered in the catalog. 
I am not wealthy and this is a volunteer position. If an error exists with this
part then I apologize, but that's about as much as my budget will allow.

| Hi everybody!
I've had quite an adventure trying to track down a copy of 53588 Dark Bluish
Gray Baseplate, Raised 16 x 16 No Studs with Cross Opening, 4 Holes.
I got an incomplete copy of 7739 in a Craigslist lot and wanted to complete it.
First, I bought 2 copies of 53588 from USA sellers early this year, but when
they arrived they both had the Red and Light Gray marbling described in the entry
for 53588pb01. The marbling is fairly subtle, so I didn't blame the sellers
for missing it, and they both gave me refunds.
Then I tried messaging every single North American seller who had a copy of 53588
listed to see if it was actually solid Dark Bluish Gray with no marbling. Many
never replied, but all took down their listings within a week. I was busy for
a few months, but over the last week I've messaged more sellers. Again, nothing.
Most sellers have taken down their listings, and the 3 that returned my messages
confirmed that there was marbling in their copies that they missed.
Now I'm starting to wonder if a solid-color 53588 with no marbling actually
exists. I've tried Google, Brickset, and other sources to find pictures of
the set, but no pictures show the part in high enough quality to confirm there's
no marbling -- except box and instruction artwork, which doesn't count.
The biggest thing that makes me suspect that a non-marbled piece doesn't
exist is that both of the marbled 53588pb01 copies I have are almost definitely
Dark Bluish Gray, not Dark Gray... but they still have marbling. According to
Bricklink, those pieces shouldn't exist. So perhaps the part was entered
incorrectly, and the old Dark Gray versions of the mold from 4 Bionicle sets
and the Dark Bluish Gray version in 7739 are all marbled?
Can anyone who owns 7739, especially a copy they built new, check to see if their
53588 from that set is marbled? And if any seller out there can confirm that
they have a non-marbled piece for sale, you will immediately get my business.

Why do you think that's wrong?
It has 4 cannons, and 16 wheels for those 4 cannons. I recently built it myself,
and that was correct for my instructions.

Getting parts that smell of smoke requires a lot of work by the buyer to remove
the odor, and we should know what we are getting into before buying. Not to mention
that when a seller does not disclose that they are a smoker, they are basically
lying about the condition of the parts.
I am really tired of getting stinky parts.
Sure, some sellers might be tempted to lie about about it, but users would complain.
Then sellers who smoke and fail to disclose their smoking should be treated with
the warning/termination policy applied to buying/selling offences.

Yes, it's possible with all non-cloth, non-rubber, and non-electric parts,
in my experience. Unfortunately, I can never completely get the smell out of
tires.
Simply soak plastic parts in a mix of white vinegar and water -- I use a
proportion of 5:1 water:vinegar. For parts that only smell lightly of smoke,
24-48 hours is enough, followed by a thorough rinse and air-dry in a well-ventilated
area. The latter will help get rid of the vinegar smell, though it'll fade
over a few weeks anyway if you don't seal the pieces in anything.
For extremely smokey parts, I've soaked them up to 5 separate 48-hour sessions,
at least one session in pure vinegar, soaking them in soap-and-water for a few
hours in between each session. Make sure not to use soap-and-water after vinegar
though, as it'll leave water spots, whereas vinegar will leave a beautiful
sheen that's worth the slight smell.
Rubbing alcohol also works, but vinegar is much cheaper.
