Friends,

I'm colorblind (red-green) and struggle with successfully identifying some
of these colors. I had no idea there were so many variations of the color gray!
Has anyone put together a convenient brick color guide? I'd happily
buy one so that I don't order wrong.

Thanks in advance!

Hello.

I have a huge dilemma.

Yes, I know that I can do what I like when it comes to my own LEGO, and I really
NEED to find out the best way to get 2 specific parts coloured to the colour
I need.

I've built a Harry Potter "Knight Bus" in the same manner as the Creator
"London Bus" set, and this has been 99% successful, with the exception of this
part:-

Part No: 24599 Name: Brick, Round Corner 5 x 5 x 1 without Studs
*
24599 Brick, Round Corner 5 x 5 x 1 without Studs
Parts: Brick, Round

This element NEEDS to be in Dark Purple

As I'm based in the UK, I really need to find the nearest and best product
to use to get this covered in Dark Purple (paint, or even some kind of wrap/lacquer)

Other than trying to get someone to 3-D print one, I'm stuck.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi,

I think this may be a stupid question.... however, i'm confused about how
there are X number of colours under known for a certain item, then there are
Y (often a lot more) colours on sale of that item.

For instance i'm in the process of making colour minifigures with all my
plain spare parts, and there are about 30 known colours of a plain torso, but
then about 60 colours on sale?

Thanks!

I got 9 of these from Pick A Brick but I am not sure of the color. I think it

Is there a way to see in the catalog what pieces that come in the most unique
colors. I have a color chart made from 3001 bricks and a few other random parts
right now, but I'd kind of like to make a smaller more compact version.
Was wondering if there was an easy way to get this info.

Thanks,
Pete

Hello everyone!!
I have recently paid for a mock, gotten the instructions and parts list files
etc and are now slowly ordering all the parts. Today it has come to my attention
that some of the parts look like one color to me but were meant to be another...

So, the question I would like an answer too, is there a noticeable difference
in the "Bright Light Orange" color and the "Yellow" color??

I am slightly red/green color blind so there might be that but I'm not sure
and are wandering if i need to switch all the future parts i order from bright
light orange to yellow :s

Hi
I want to understand the logic behind the color names.
Why medium lavender is not dark lavender?
Medium suppose to be lighter than the main color, isn't it?
Like medium green, medium orange, medium blue and medium brown.
The medium lavender is much darker than lavender, so the name for it should be
dark lavender.
What do you think?

Duplo snowflake of set 10899, Frozen Ice Castle is listed as Trans Clear

Part No: 41417 Name: Duplo Snowflake

Maybe the correct color should be Trans Milky or Trans White?

Hope this post is in the right place.
It's bugged me a while now that the Bionicle eye stalk piece that is included
in 8534, 8540 and 8572 is listed as trans dark pink despite the face that it's
more of a neon red-magenta color. As far as I know there are no other pieces
in this color, so I understand that it would probably be a waste of time to create
a new color just for one piece, but it may cause confusion for some that the
listed color is not actually the color in which the piece comes.

I'm relatively new to selling on brick link and even less experienced with
vintage sets. I acquired a fairly complete 1984 Knight's Castle set 6073.
I was missing several light gray bricks and I purchased some on brick link. I
know that there can be variation in color between different production runs and
from year to year. Then you have the time factor, sun fading, etc. I took several
pictures of my light gray bricks and I placed a new light bluish gray brick on
top that I took from a recent star wars set. My question to the group is. Are
all these bricks light gray? Should I even bother trying to sell a set with this
kind of color variation? How much of a detraction is this from the sets value?
Thanks.

I have some bricks that I can't give the right color when listing them in
my inventory.
It is between trans green and trans bright green. See picture middle brick 1x8.
Can we call it trans medium green ??

What do you think and how to handle this color. I bought the bricks a years ago
at Legoland Deutschland and didn't use them. So I want to sell some of them.

I have in my possession part 86059 (Rein with Bridle Flexible) in dark gray -
NOT dark bluish gray. I find this curious, since the part wasn't manufactured
until 2009, long after old dark gray was phased out. I am certain it not discolored
from sun exposure, because the color is uniform on all areas of the part. And
I doubt it is just a variation in color due to its material, because it is VERY
close in color to other dark gray parts. Any ideas?

(I was going to post a picture to show the comparison, but my phone did not capture
the colors well enough to show the difference/similarity between the parts.)

Has anyone (besides me) seen the newer LEGO knock-offs?! It's almost as if
someone defected from LEGO and took the color recipes with them!! The latest
batch I got at auction is loaded with them. I used to be able to tell the difference
just by looking at them. The colors were always just a little off, and many didn't
come in anything close to the LEGO colors. I have had to check every single piece
of this latest batch because the colors are almost identical! And pieces that
didn't come in the oh-so-close LEGO colors now do!! The colors are so close
that I've had to look at the smaller pieces under a magnifying glass to check
for the LEGO logo! It's frustrating to pay for what I think is a box of LEGO
only to find more than 3/4 are knock-offs!!

If anyone else is buying their stock at auction or at Thrift stores, check very
carefully that what you have is genuine LEGO.

I need some help about discolored white new parts.

How is it possible that new white parts are not really white any more?
I have part out some brand new sets (straight from the box) some months ago and
I sold some white parts. Now I get the question from the buyer that the parts
are not really white. I have stored the parts in a drawer where there is no sunlight.
How is it possible that the parts are not really white any more? is it a factory
mistake or is it the dark drawer ore what else.
Can any body help me what the problem is.

I got this piece as part of an auction buy. It's a genuine LEGO piece, plate
4x8, but I cannot identify the color. It's not Tan, nor is it Bright Light
Yellow, it's lighter. I thought it might be Light Lime but there's no
green tint to it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I've got this bionicle-mask and I'm wondering what color it is.
I'm guessing copper but I'm not sure...I don't have anything else
in that color.
When I'm looking at the color info for this part (Item no: 32571) I can choose
from copper and metallic gold, it seems too dark for gold. On the picture it
is next to pearl gold and reddish brown.
What do you think?? Thanks!

Now that TLG has acquired BL, isn't it about time that we set about resolving
conflicting colour names? The flesh/nougat adjustment shows that it's possible,
so when are we going to rename BL Dark Green to Earth Green?

Obviously there are many others which need aligned over time, but currently Dark
Green should be an immediate priority.

Hi,

So I'd like someone to have a look at this and see if I am going mad please.
Have a look at the first picture without looking at the second you will see both
parts stuck together look identical in colour. Both are brown. Now look at the
second picture the same part Plate 1x1 with the design on that side of it is
listed only as reddish brown and never as brown. Should this not be listed as
brown?

Kind regards

Hey Bricklink Community,

I am in the middle of getting pieces that I am missing from my Lego sets I have
had since I was a kid. I ordered a bunch of pieces from the Lego Store. 5 pieces
I need are 4 grey pieces and 1 brown. The ones I got from the Lego Store are
not the right color of grey or brown. The grey medium stone grey and brown reddish
brown.

The sets I need the pieces for are from the 90's. On toysperiod.com they
say the pieces that I need are old grey and old brown. As I look through the
stores on this site I'm not sure which color name they fit under. If anyone
can help me out that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

The Color Guide download shows Black as RGB 212121 and Dark Brown as 510000

This makes Dark Brown darker than Black

I would expect Black to be RGB 000000

Why is that?

Thx,
Arnoud

I have a question. Are the colors of some clikits changed? Yesterday I was listing
some clikits and at the same time looking for mistakes in my inventorie. I found
a lot of neon yellow parts that I did not list as neon yellow but as trans light
yellow. Trans light yellow is now gone. Changed in neon yellow without a note.
But I do have part 003 in both noen yellow and trans (light?)yellow. I was lucky
nobody ordered the parts!

This is mainly for the colour fanatics here.

Had a largish haul of parts with a lot of Dark Pink bricks. Whilst sorting I
found quite a few sun damaged so just binned as I found them. But just had another
look at one and I don't think it is sun damage after all. It has totally
changed colour and completely consistent throughout. I would say this is the
same as the 'brittle blue' thing. Attached an image so show different
(photo doesn't quite capture it perfectly). Another one I'll add to
my ever-growing collection of weird Lego colours.

I have what I think is a clone pilot sw0609. However the helmet has a brighter
yellow marking then I see in the photo...and the other issue is the paint is
only on the center raised portion and above the black mask. It DOES NOT go to
the left and right of the raised center as shown in the picture. I hope I described
it so you can understand. The helmet is marked lego so I know it is authentic.
Did some helmets for this figure come this way?

While going through some bulk Lego for inventory I came across something different.
In my bin of "Arm Mechanical, Straight with Clips at 90 degrees (Vertical Grip)"
Item No. 59230, I have one that is similar to the tan ones, but obviously different.
When comparing the color to those in Bartneck's Color Guide, it appears
to be more of a "yellowish tan". Did Lego have two different tan's? Or
does tan age toward orange? Or is there another color not noted on that item?

The image doesn't really show the difference.

I sent pcs that I thought were brown. The buyer sends me a picture which doesn’t
look exactly true color but the top ones I sent were brown and the bottom one
she says is brown. To me the bottom doesn’t look like brown. Am I wrong or right??

I don't know what the current status is of the planned catalog color project,
but in preparation here is a photo of some pink parts.

The parts on the left are LEGO Light Reddish Violet. The parts on the
right are LEGO Rose. Both are called pink on BrickLink.

Rose is commonly called "Paradisa Pink" and is often sold as "Light Pink" on
BrickLink.

I am not sure if BrickLink's Light Pink actually exist. I suspect many are
misidentified.

Looking at the Lego website, is Medium Stone Grey the same as Light Bluish Grey?
And is Dark Stone Grey the same as Dark Bluish Grey?

I need to buy ~100 of the same part, but I don't care what color they are.
In fact, I don't really want 100 of a single color. I'd rather it be
mixed.

Previous posts have said that "not applicable" would work, but when I choose
that, the system seems to pick a single color, presumably the cheapest?

Is there a way to specify random colors?

Thanks!

aqua. My wing are dark blue changing to lime green at the bottom. Trying to find
where these wings go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I've just had an order for 6 x 4073 Trans-Dark Pink's

Part No: 4073 Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1
*
4073 Plate, Round 1 x 1
Parts: Plate, Round {Trans-Dark Pink}
When I picked them, 4 of them are visibly lighter than the other 2.
Does that mean 4 of them are actually Trans Pink, or is this just some variation
in the color?
According to the catalog, Trans Pink doesn't appear in any set, but there
are some sellers that have it listed.

I traced those 4 back to where I got them from, and it seems they came out of
(sealed) set 10717.

Set No: 10717 Name: Bricks Bricks Bricks
*
10717-1 (Inv) Bricks Bricks Bricks
1500 Parts, 2018
Sets: Classic

How (or what) should I explain this to the buyer?

Photo: Left plate, right brick and 2 middle 4073's are Trans-Dark Pink, the
4 others are lighter. I have nothing else in Trans Pink to compare this with.

Hello Bricklinkers
I’d like to consult the oracle over a colour mystery. I have got all my LEGO
stash out to check my sets and catologue missing parts, and when I opened 6206,
which was bagged up and in the original box, and had been kept in the dark, I
noticed that some of the blue pieces (specifically 4871, some 2x1 slopes, 4x2
plates and the 4x1 tiles) are a different blue. It is more like a greeny turquoise
type colour. I’m wondering what has gone on here. There is a small chance that
at some point these might have been switched with parts from my nephew’s collection
(it’s a long story) but I have searched on part 4871 and can’t find anything
that might have contained it in a greeny colour. Could it be fading? It’s seems
too uniform and too new of a kit for that, plus they have been stored in the
dark. Can anyone shed any light on this? I enclose a photo which I hope shows
what I mean. It’s not coming out as well as it does to the naked eye.

I am trying to find out if anyone has seen the colour (Canadian spelling!) variation
seen below in the wheel. The regular one is light gray in colour while the speckled
one I am wondering if that comes from a factory defect or some other chemical
alteration.

Thanks,

Evan

Dear all - this topic has actually been troubling me since ever - but I never
went so far to post my insecurities around the LEGO Color ID mess I experience.
So please be friendly on me if I got something interlay wrong here.
I have charts with the official LEGO color id on, I see charts online that are
from LEGO with numbers on tiles and then we have the color guide here on BL.
Can somebody help me and explain to me why those numbers don't match ?
Why is the color ID in BL colorguide not the same as the color ID on the LEGO
chart and then sometimes it is??

Example of not the same:
light blueish gray - BL color 86 - LG color 194 ??

example of the same:
white - BL color 1 - LG color 001 ??

best regards
Casper

So, I recently placed an order at S&H to get the DOTS bracelets, and some other
stuff, and I accidentally found these key chains. The pictures are terrible and
totally inaccurate, but the descriptions intrigued me; iridescent and metallized
key chains?

I didn't know what to expect, but I put them in my shopping cart. This is
what I got, and I couldn't be more delighted. The iridescent one is especially
stunning. I put Sweet Mayhem there too because of her similarly holographic hair.
I have a full review with more pictures for those of you who are interested:
http://thebrickblogger.com/2020/03/lego-iridescent-blue-chrome-black-key-chains/

Neither of these key chains are in the BrickLink database as of yet, but if they
do get added I recommend replacing LEGO's stock images with actual photos.
They are too beautiful to be hidden like that. I think 2x4 collectors would be
very interested.

This piece is listed as having Trans-Neon Green as one of its colours.

The neon colours glow under a black light (if you don't have a black light
and have never seen this then invest in one and be amazed!) but these don't,
which makes me wonder whether (a) the colour is listed wrong or (b) I bought
counterfeit Lego which doesn't have the neon qualities and is just a colour
match.

Does anybody elses glow under a black light?

Hi i have a list of parts which i know need to be the same color for my build.
i would like to build the same item in different colors if the parts are available
in that color.
is there a way of finding out what other colors are available for a list of parts.
i can then determine if they actually exist and can buy a batch in another color.
i know i can look at known colors for each part but this is on each individual
part page and wondered if this could be linked?

Has anyone ran into Variation in Light Bluish Gray? I only deal with new parts
and I checked out the color with my color chart which includes old gray. I have
nothing that comes close to this light of gray. The center two are normal LBG
the bottom is DBG and the two on either side of the LBG is the very light Bluish
gray.

Please list “Dark Red” and “New Dark Red” separate.

LEGO note them as different. They are very different and mixed up in one build
don’t look good.

For those who may have missed this recent change, we have decided to change the
name "Flesh" to another color name in the BrickLink catalog. I'm not going
to get into the reasons why this was done - the purpose here is to inform you
of what the changes were and how they may affect your BrickLink user experience.

The changes are 5 in number:

1. Light Flesh becomes Light Nougat

2. Flesh becomes Nougat

3. Medium Dark Flesh becomes Medium Nougat

4. Dark Flesh becomes Medium Brown

5. Dark Nougat is added to the BrickLink catalog, which is currently included
with BrickLink's Earth Orange.

Changes to the color names in Item Names are forthcoming. No changes to inventories
are necessary except to give Dark Nougat a place in the system.

How this may effect you:

1. If you rely on any of BrickLink's list pages that can be sorted by color
(set inventory, catalog search, catalog item detail page, etc.) some items may
be listed in a different order.

2. If you have your physical parts inventory sorted by color, you may need to
relabel. Dark Flesh is relatively rare, but if you have it, you will need to
change the labels to Medium Brown. That's the tough one, although renaming
it to a type of brown is a big step in the right direction.

3. If you perchance have the type of Earth Orange from the early 2000's,
you should separate out these parts and relist them under Dark Nougat. This color
is retired and quite rare.

Thanks to our BrickLink color enthusiasts for their input. They've given
invaluable advice over the years and we're happy they were willing to give
some advice this time around as well.

Also, changing the color name to NOUGAT isn't going to change the
physical color.

If group A feels strongly that it should be changed, and group B feels strongly
that it shouldn't, why did group A automatically get the change implemented?

Seeing as the vast majority of parts in the light flesh color are used for heads
from licensed themes portraying a character, actress, or actor with light flesh
skin tone, I fail to see the problem.

Obviously in real life, skin tones are a set of continuous data instead of discrete,
but one of the trade-offs of creating the licensed characters out of plastic
at a feasible cost is to standardize skin tones into a few discrete values and
apply a 'best fit' method to the continuous data.

Also, thanks for adding the extra key stroke by making a 5 letter color into
a 6 letter color. Can't wait to type 'NOUGAT' a bunch of times. PEACH
would have been better...

I bought some new black hoses. 1 were black but the others were very dark gray.

I noticed others listed the black hose with description telling it is dark gray.

Are both colors authentic lego?

I was going thru some used parts and noticed I have 2 different shades of pearl
gold. I see that the plate round 1x1 comes in pearl gold and pearl light gold.
Is pearl light gold real or is it the lighter shade of pearl gold listed as pearl
light gold? I have attached an image sorry if quality is terrible, the 3 on the
left are the darker shade pearl gold.

Hi,

Does anyone use an iPhone app that can detect the color of a piece? I’d love
to be able to point the camera to a piece on a white surface and the app would
tell me the color, or at least a guess on the color.

Thanks

These Bionicle Kaukau masks exist in different colors, but normally they where
produced only in trans dark blue. Where could you find the other colors at that
time. Surely not in the set 8533 or 8583. Maybe in those polybags with surprise
masks ? Could somebody give me please an exploration.

Regards

Hello all

I am at a loss about the far right colour. It's not faded and it's not
a brittle colour.

The colours from left to right are
Orange, bright light orange, yellow, bright light yellow, dark orange, tan and
unknown.

Thanks all
David

I'm trying to sell 3001/2x4 bricks on another site, and I would like to affirm
some information I have provided them with in relation to test bricks.

Please disregard my ignorance, I just need accurate information. I would dislike
providing misleading details to any potential buyer.

Howdy. I've been collecting for a few years now. Love 'em all! Do you
know of Bricklink - it takes a while to become familiar, but if you'd like
to invest some time there, they would happily answer any of your questions.

Mursten, Bayer, BASF, Grangemouth, Wrexham, and other manufacturers were all
contracted by LEGO to produce plastics for their bricks. LEGO provided them with
2x4 molds as test examples.
I'm not sure as to how they all aquired the molds they did, but the Mursten
ABCD bricks are in relation to a clutch test - how firmly they grip to another
piece.' A' being the tightest clutch and 'D' being the loosest.
Due to those test examples LEGO now use the 'C' as the brick of choice.
Modulex is an Architectural scale brick - being an ignorant Aussie, I'm not
familiar with it exactly. They're ultra-cute, that's all I know about
that.
The milky, marbled, and semi-transparent bricks were all produced by the aforementioned
companies because they were pumping coloured plastics into the molds they were
provided with without cleaning the injection pipes before adding another coloured
plastic - in the case of the milky/semi-transparent, they were not adding enough
colour to the mold?
I will do a quick research on prices for you regarding the bricks I've offered
you.

I can tell you that I have never seen a double A, B, C, or D brick being offered
for sale, let alone a complete set. Having said that, does not mean they do not
exist.

If you're not in a rush, I'm happy to get you more information!

I would love to order "grab bags" of a variety of pieces of the same color. I
have a glut of classic LEGO colors and I would like to buy bundles of newer colors
without swelling my numbers of classic blacks, yellows, reds, etc. Can/do sellers
ever sell this way, and if so, how can a shopper search for that? Any input is
appreciated

Hello all, can someone give me a colour for these apples. For comparison the
base is Bright Green and 2x4 brick Green. I can see them listed in pop colours
in medium green, but they don't seem to be in any sets. These came from a
2nd hand 4181 Poc set.

Hi.
I have an airplane from 4032 here (Austrian Air Version). It was almost fully
assembled when I got it. When trying to complete it I noticed that the bricklink
inventory says it contains "light blueish gray" and "dark blueish gray".

Set No: 4032 Name: Passenger Plane - Austrian Air Version
*
4032-10 (Inv) Passenger Plane - Austrian Air Version
1 Set, 2 Parts, 2004
Sets: Town: World City: Airport

Here everything is in standard (old) gray tones. And I assume that's right.
Part 4856a i.e. would only exists in one other set as dark gray, I can't
see the previous owner going a long way to get two of those.

Has anyone the possibility to check the gray?

How do you tell the difference between Dark Grey and Dark Bluish Grey bricks?
I want to make sure I purchase ones that match what I already have.

I have multiple colors of 44140. One of the colors seems to not match anything
in the system. There are two sets that say they have pearl dark grey but the
pictures have different colors on each set. Set 8811-1 shows the exact color
that I have but says that it should be pearl dark grey. Set 8593-1 shows the
same part as supposed to be pearl dark grey but shows a different coloration
from the one I have. Does anyone know if this is just a different color and should
be added to the system? Or do the pearl dark grey ones always look like more
of a greenish color(like in the picture for set 8811-1).

Hi gang!

I have a bit of a problem with these two colours. I got 136 tiles with grill,
some surely silver some surely gold. And then a bunch in between, sorta like
faded gold

It's rather difficult to take a decent picture of

How would you list those not quite gold parts?

Cheers,

Ole

Ok I have ran across another color issue, I have ran across this a few times
but this time both parts came from the same used set. Assume both are blue but
1 is discolored. Does anybody sell these or do they go in the scrap bin?

I have a part 30602 and I'm trying to figure the correct color. I believe
it to be copper since it's the only known color that makes sense. I have
added a copper color part to show the color difference.

I need some help identifying the color of the Bionicle mask on the right. It
is part #32573. It came in a large lot of used Bionicle parts, so I don't
know what set it came from originally. Supposedly, it only comes in Black, Blue,
Dark Gray, Light Gray, Lime, Medium Blue, Orange, Tan, Yellow, Copper, and Pearl
Light Gray.

As you can see, this is not any of those colors. I have photographed it with
a copper part next to it, so you can see that it is not copper. The closest
I can figure is that this is chrome pink, but there is nothing chrome about it.
It is more like a pearl dark pink color.

What color do you think it is?

I appreciate your help.

Stan.

I have recently added a couple of minifigures(sh517) to my store and have a question
on light trans blue versus trans blue wings. After going back and forth between
the two pictures of the minifig with wings in the Bricklink catalog I believe
these are the trans light blue ones which makes the minifig the sh517a version.
Please have a look at the photos along side 1X2 trans light blue plates to see
if you agree or have input.

My camera is not great at close ups so hopes these are discernible.

Thanks much
