| Ok, so this might open a can of worms, but is there a reason why some statuettes
are minifigures and others are minifig, untensil, decorated?? Or is it just
up to whatever the person who adds it feels like doing?

| Hello
I got a quote request from a customer saying that the shipping was too high.
When I looked at the order it looks like the below piece is the issue.
I have shipped this part before with no issues as lettermail.
With Canada post anything thicker than 2cm must be sent as parcel which is much
more expensive.
I am trying to understand how bricklink takes the 2x2x2 and translates that to
shipping dimensions in centimetres or inches.
Also can someone help me to understand how this can be 2x2x2 when one side is
longer than it is wide.
Is one of the measurements stacked bricks?
Thanks for any help

Author: | StormChaser | Posted: | Jun 24, 2020 14:30 | Subject: | Change Notification: Parts 4623 and 88072 | Viewed: | 138 times | Topic: | Catalog | Status: | Open | |
| NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES TO PARTS 4623 AND 88072
[P=88072]
Members have recently identified two problems with these part variant entries:
1. The additional notes need to be updated.
2. Part 4623 comes in both 5 MM and 6 MM horizontal arm length versions.
A member has submitted a request for us to take action.
What changes will happen?
1. The title of Part 4623 currently in parentheses will be changed to
read "Undetermined Arm Length," but the part will not immediately be marked for
deletion.
2. A new catalog entry will be created with the part number 4623a and
the title "Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Arm Up (Horizontal Arm Length 6mm)."
3. Part 88072 has 4623b as an alternate item number. The primary number
(88072) and alternate item number (4623b) will be switched for this part.
4. The additional notes for all three entries will be updated for brevity
and ease of comprehension.
When will these changes occur?
All four changes are planned to occur between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM CST
on July 8th, 2020.
Why are these changes necessary?
The changes are necessary because Part 4623 comes in both 5 MM and 6 MM horizontal
arm lengths. The catalog does not currently recognize this fact and some inventories
include incorrect part variants.
How will these changes affect BrickLink members?
Sellers should move their for-sale listings from the undetermined entry to either
4623a or 4623b as soon as reasonably possible after the July 8th changes. Members
who object to one or more changes should immediately provide input with clear
reasons for their objections.

When comparing two Darth Vader figures I had, I discovered a mold variance between
two helmets. The "old" type came likey was made from 1999-2014, while The "new"
type appeared in the 2019 20th Anniversary Clone Scout Walker I think
this new mold was created because in order to create the anniversary figure lego
wanted to use a 1 piece Vader helmet, as opposed to the 2 piece helmets they
switched to a couple of years ago. This mold variation deserves a note in the
catalog entry for the helmet,, or a variant added to the catalog, but I'm
not sure which. If someone wants to take the appropriate action from here, please
go ahead. See the attached image for the differences between the two.

| Hi all.
BACKGROUND: Let my start by saying that unlike my grandchildren, Marcus and
Soren, I am not a "Master Builder". I am a "Master Collector." My brick hobby
is to purchase long forgotten brick collections from parents of teen + former
brick fan that have been collecting dust in the basement or attic for years.
Once in my possession, I discard the fake pieces, wash the real ones then sort
them out looking for the special pieces that will tell me which sets the original
owner possessed. Then I try to re-assemble those sets.
PROBLEM: Currently, I have about 330 sets that I have identified as previously
owned. Those are my SIPs, "sets-in-progress." Each SIP has a container where
I store the parts that I've located. Together those 330 SIPs consist of
approximately 56,000 pieces. Of those, I have located about 23,000 pieces and
I am still looking for the other 23,000 pieces. I would guess my personal brick
collection consists of 100,000+ pieces that are not currently assigned to a SIP.
They are sorted and stored in other many other containers. When I need to locate
a piece for a SIP I look in about 5 "likely" containers then give up. Do I not
have the piece or is just in one of the many many "unlikely" containers?
SOLUTION: I'm building a MySQL Database to keep track of my collection.
Using BL's category system, there exist many bricks, slopes, arches etc.,
based more or less on shape. Within the sub-category bricks there are 1x1,
2x2, 2x4 etc., more or less based on size.
QUESTIONS: Q1;What are these sub-categories called? I would call them an ELEMENT.
is that correct? is there a better name for the sub-categories? Further, the
sub-categories such as 1x1 bricks of course come in many colours. Q2: What are
these sub-sub-categories called, or what are these ELEMENTs with a particular
colour called? I would call them a PART. Correct? Any other better name?
Q3; Lastly, if I hold in my hand, one blue 1x1 brick, what should that be called?
I would suggest that is a PIECE. Correct? Any better answer?
CATEGORY :: ELEMENT :: PART :: PIECE ??

| I noticed there are two versions of the 1 x 4 x 5 glass with 9 stripes,
one has more wider and the other one more narrow stripes.
Looking at the sticker sheets of the two sets this part comes from I believe
the narrow one is from set 6386 and the wider from set 6540
Maybe there should be a remark about this.
Besides: how can I show a sticker sheet in a message?

| Part #76338 is considered an alternate item id for part #4895. I noticed that
Duplo bed, part #4895 has a mold marking in the center of the bed while Duplo
bed, part #76338 has a mold marking inside a bottom tube.
Is this something that should be added to the catalog?
I checked 17 beds, part #76388, and they all have mold markings inside a bottom
tube, and 7 beds, part #4895 that all have mold marking on top of the bed (in
the center).

| Hi all,
New member here...
I'm interested to know if there is a list anywhere of the sets with their
retirement date.
I see the 'year released' on all the item pages, but nothing on retirement.
If anyone can help I'd be most grateful
Thanks!

| Hello
I was about to sell a lot of assemblies of and and found out
that no such assemblies exist in the catalog like they do for the 3939c* assemblies
with tops. So if I want to sell them on BL, I have to disassemble them
and I have found that to be very difficult. In many cases, it leaves stressmarks
on the small hooks on the bases, and then I need to discard them.
So, is there any project planned to make assemblies for these? They come in two
flavors depending on whether the top turns upwards or downwards, so the amount
of parts needed would approx. be doubled compared to the 3937c* assemblies. But
IMHO, it would really help sellers.

| I've come across this rare gem - A full, uncut set of sails from the Carribbean
Clipper, still attached, never used. Well, obviously I'd classify this particular
one as used as I found it floating around in a box of parts. But anyway, I don't
see a catalog entry for the sails still being attached. I'd be happy to
submit them as an entry if they are quantifiable. I'd plan to straighten
them before posting a pic - They're still a tad bit wrinkly from taking a
bath, I mean, they are 31 years old

This part has 1 known colour listed: white. But the only picture is of this part
in red. This torso is found in one part, that part is also listed as white.
Could an additional known colour of red be added? The Torso assembly would be
red torso, red arms, red hands.

| All the baseplates from the 70's, which I have from original sets, have different
tubes (do you call them tubes?) compared with newer baseplates. I do not know
when this chance took place, but is it worth to add a note for these baseplates
as they come in different variations?
It would be a lot of work making pictures aspecially with all the baseplates
with white dots and I certainly do not have them all.
On the attached picture is a example from set 648-1. On the right the original
one from the 70's and on the left a newer one.

I am busy putting duplo into my inventory and ran into this little airplane.
It is not in a condition i want to sell it in, so i looked if it could be demolished
to smaller parts. In my idea it contains some wheels i cannot find in the catalog
and wheel pins number 2344. Can it be parted out?

title as the subtheme. Just seems kinda odd.
