I'm pretty sure that's a bug.. buyers can't change the order status
to paid, only sellers or onsite payment can.

Why is there even the option for a buyer to mark the order paid?
As a seller, it doesn't matter to me if the numbers are in bold (showing
'paid' since I don't think it is paid until I check Paypal to make
sure it is in my account. (or received the check in the mail or whatever).
Like Scrooge, I don't ship until I have the 'cash in hand', so I
should be the only one to mark it paid. (or the Paypal link, that is fine too,
just not the buyer).

So.. are you talking about the order status, or about the grand total showing
in bold because the buyer submitted the payment? You'd want to remove the
latter just because you don't need it? Well, I need it.. not everyone
works with PayPal. If buyers send me bank transfers, I need to see that so that
I can ship their order or verify the payment. It's a pretty important feature
to me.

As a buyer, I use the 'paid' option to inform my seller I have paid for
the order.
Usefull for non-instant-checkout sellers!

You can also add to your store and keep it closed. There are other sites for
personal inventory management if that's what your end goal is.

Howdy.

It took me a long time to start my store as I was wondering how to overcome these
types of questions. The simple fix is you have the option to add to a stockroom
or not. So anything I am happy to sell has no stockroom. Anything I need to come
back to Stockroom A, anything I certainly do not want to sell Stockroom B. To
throw a curve ball in anything that I want to keep but am happy to sell for the
right price , I price accordingly.

Your second question is answered by doing it this way in the first place. You
can then simply order stock that you do not have and it will not order what you
have either in store or in stockroom.

Cheers,
Adam

but I don’t want to pay a lot, I could just sort the entire Ninjago minifigure
category from lowest to highest price and select the first cool villain I find,
which is obviously the cheapest because of how it would be sorted. It would make
it a lot easier than searching through a bunch of characters and writing down
all the prices. I have added a picture of where this should go in the catalogue.

I hope you consider my suggestion.

Try the Advanced search for this: https://www.bricklink.com/searchAdvanced.asp

You can access it clicking the magnifying glass icon next to the top search button.

2. In the orders, I would like to keep the ID# of each part. Currently,
only the name of the part is kept.

Hi,

I've actually found a functionality already available in BrickLink interface
to add the part ID# to the orders:
On the "Order Placed" screen, "Settings" "My Orders Settings" / "Order Detail
Settings" / "Show Item Number" tickbox.

Cheers,
Jonathan.

Can we please have a function to search for items in our inventory with no catalog
dimensions? We already have one to search for weight, but not dimensions for
some strange reason.

I'm getting tired of bulky items sneaking through Instant checkout at letter
rates because they're missing catalog dimensions, and I have no way of finding
which items need me to manually enter their dimensions.

The solution is already there for you. Be sure you have dimensions / weight turned
on for your store and then select the "Instant Checkout Unavailable" box in the
Show More Options section in your store inventory.

Russell, how is it with dimensions of minifigures? I had often an order for 1
minifigure and the option Letter was offered at the instant checkout, because
there are no dimensions for them, and you can imagine, that you cannot send them
as letter, because they are to big for it. Any chance there will be a sollution
for this also, or do we have to put in the dimensions by ourselves?

On the page where you can edit the 'mystore' message templates
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/message_templates.page (see picture 1)

please add the link that is used on the "Customize Wanted List Notification"
page
https://www.bricklink.com/mailTempDetail.asp?ID=6&viewFrom=W (see picture 2)

This would be a great help for sellers when searching this subject and it can
easily be done within the current so called spaghetti code

The result could look like the second picture attached to this post.

I have been in the process of designing, buying the parts, and building the set
that I envisioned and created through Lego Digital Designer.

Through this process, I discovered that I have been buying too many of some parts,
not realizing that I had already ordered them. Plus completely forgetting to
buy other parts. With that being said, a question popped into my head as to what
could Bricklink create to help designers, and buyers keep track of the parts
they need.

If you are just building a single model, then the easiest way to buy the parts
is to upload it to your wanted list and use the easy buy feature to buy all the
parts at once. Since you already have some of the parts, you can update the "have"
quantity in your wanted list to avoid buying parts that you already have.

Why doesn't Bricklink have a history of parts a buyer purchases in their
activity, or account profile history? This feature would definitely make things
super easy while being in the process of building a design, and sticking to a
budget.

Personally, I have never used the "upload" feature for Lego Digital Designer,
so I cannot say if this feature already exists or not. Given that I am trying
to keep my build a secret, to a point, I did not use the "upload" feature, thinking
it may reveal my design.

If you upload a .lxf file to your wanted list, no one sees the design.

The thing is, it would be handy to see the history in how many specific parts
I have purchased in total. This feature could then break down where I purchased
these parts, and allow me to add, and see the notes I left for myself for each
store. To make it extra easy, these parts could then be categorized under the
set's design each creator have made, keeping them a secret until after their
reveal.

I agree that this would be a nice feature. I would like it if BrickLink automatically
added all the parts that you ordered to your stockroom inventory and autofilled
the "my cost" attribute with the price that you paid. That way you could easily
calculate the exact cost of a MOC and if you accidentally order too much of a
particular part and decide to sell the leftovers, you can easily determine a
fair price. I would also like it if BrickLink automatically applied your inventory
to the "have" quantity in your wanted list so that you do not have to update
it manually and apply each order individually. Finally, it would be nice to have
the ability to "part out" a MOC based on a given parts list and to "part in"
again if you decide to take it apart and build something else. This last feature
is already supported by BrickLink MOC Shop (moc.bricklink.com), but you have
to publish your design, which means that it can be seen by anyone and that it
has to be approved by BrickLink, and from what I've heard BrickLink has stopped
approving MOCs on MOC Shop.

Perhaps I am over thinking things? Perhaps not?

Definitely not. These are features that I have wanted for quite some time. I
even tried to write a software program in high school to do all this and more,
but that was before the easy buy feature was introduced. Easy buy has made purchasing
all of the parts for a MOC easy enough that writing a software program from scratch
is no longer justified. But if you have computer programming skills, you can
do it yourself.

I do know one thing: When you have a budget, and something is much easier to
use, we tend to use them way more.

Thankfully, I have discovered that most in this community are wonderful individuals,
whom I would easily become great friends with. Working with them to build my
creations has been a blessing.

Thank you to all of those who are amazing, and have helped me along my journey
to build my creations.

It does: Want | Upload accepts LDD, LDraw, Studio, or BrickStock formats (file
upload), or BL’s XML format (paste).

   Given that I am trying
to keep my build a secret, to a point, I did not use the "upload" feature, thinking

‘Want | Upload’ only uploads to a Wanted List.
There’s absolutely no reasons for BL to keep the temporarily uploaded design.
If you’re really frightened for your Super Duper model, you can always dismantle
your design (move all its parts haphazardly) before uploading it.

‘Want | Upload’’s totally unrelated to Studio’s “Gallery.”

Besides, even in Studio, there’s a Wanted List upload that doesn’t upload the
whole design, only the parts.

As for the rest, what you want is an inventory system for buyers.
There are many suggestions for this already….
Have been for years….

This has been a problem forever. I have a wanted list named "On Order" that
I move parts to as they are purchased. Once they are received and determined
to be in acceptable condition, they are removed from the On Order waiting list.

Better data design and programming would have avoided this mess.

I realize that this doesn't cover all the points in your suggestion but here
is the most recent response from Admin about this issue:

It is quite a bit more than we have received in the recent past, so I am hopeful
that more positive and constructive changes are on the way. I do also hope they
develop a communication system to let us know of upcoming changes.

Hi

I have been buying and selling on BrickLink for nearly 10 years now and although
it can be a bit clunky it does the job of bringing buyers and sellers together
but just recently changes have been made that have caused problems for buyers
and sellers alike due to lack of communication from those making the changes,
I have listed 2 that have affected me and my buyers int the last week or so.

1) The change to the way the order and payment status works was a complete surprise
and took me a good 30 minutes to work out what was going on (not everyone has
my analytical ability to work this out).

2) The email sent out to buyers when a seller is short of parts (i.e. Problem
with Item in Order), has been made less useful as the link that used to be there
to help buyers 'approve' removal of item(s) is no longer given (yes the
email looks nicer but it is as good as useless). Because I wasn't aware
of this change I chased a buyer saying there was a link in the email which made
me look like I didn't know what I was doing.

I have been working in IT for 40 years and it is recognised good practice to
send out a 'release note' to all users (post it on the site somewhere
and email everyone a link) detailing key changes that are going to be made in
the next release (before the event) so everyone knows and can prepare accordingly.
Please don't say this doesn't apply to 'apps' or Internet based
systems because some of the best sites do this (e.g. www.mid.as).

BrickLink relies on the income provided by it's buyers ordering parts and
sellers paying commission, if you don't communicate properly you risk buyers
and sellers going elsewhere, which would be a big shame.

Please keep us all better informed so we can service our customers properly and
support you all at BrickLink to continue to proved an otherwise great site.

I would appreciate a constructive response from admin to this message

Thanks

Yes, but you have to type the exact part ID.
I like to search by name of the part, like "plate 2x3". This doesn't seem
possible in that search tool: you cannot search for a string in the parts inside
orders.

Have you tried Bricklink XP? That is what Bricklink thinks you need.

No! I haven't heard about BrickLink XP so far! I've just found the page,

Okay, I need to research "mosaic". I've seen the term in a few places, but
have no context of what that actually looks like.

OP actually meant “grid view.”

A mosaic is an ancient pixelated stone or faience artwork.

By extension 1 (maybe only in French?): the blurred zone in an image or film
by over-pixelization (generally faces or naughty bits).

By extension 2: an image made of other images.

By abuse (in France French): a special channel where all the channels are shown
in a grid of thumbnails.

Sorry guys, my English is not that good... By "mosaic", I mean "grid view",
so just little thumbnails in grid (like a dozen per line, on as many lines as
needed), with few information :
- missing qty (i.e. Want QTY - Have QTY : this would be great for real-life shopping!)
- maybe ID of the part (not sure it's useful, though)
- color name (so that we can print the page in black & white).
- part name (because it is not easy to count studs on a 2x16 plate thumbnail...)
