If they are too long for the submission form, that's an indication that they are simply too long.
|
These names are over the limit by only a few characters, and just the Torso Assemblies
are affected.
| What are you trying to accomplish by describing every detail?
|
In the absence of a proper tag-system, I wanted to include searchable keywords
and use descriptive names, such that these pieces are easier to find/identify.
The existing names are fine if you are already familiar with the part/theme
in question - Part (973pb0619c01), for example, provides no searchable
material beyond names that are likely increasingly-unknown to AFOLs (since Blacktron
is roughly 30 years old!).

of sorting the minfigs. So far I am at about 125 that I have positively identified
here in the catalog. I have about 75 more heads and a similar number of bodies
and legs.
Is there a way to say make an Excel spreadsheet that will automatically pull
data from the catalog so I can sort which ones are of value and which ones are
relatively common.
I started a spreadsheet and added a link to each figures page in the database,
but that doesn't help me sort them by value.
Thanks for any help!

| I have been working on a way to do this. There are a few ways to go, one with
macros, another with web scrapers, having an API with the data would be helpful.
The main issue I come against is the server draw. I am pretty convinced this
is one of the reasons we get so many 500 errors. There are those out there pulling
pricing for hundreds or thousands of parts every day. This draws the BL server
down. I read somewhere that bots and spiders are not permitted. Therefore if
found out you could be banned. Currently, I have only scrapers pulling pricing
from retail locations, then I manually go in and pull pricing from BL on items
I feel may be profitable.
It would be nice if BL would simply publish a daily csv file that included all
the pricing of each piece. Then we could just plug that into a spreadsheet or
google doc with vlookup and have a really good simple pricing tool.
Not to get too many people riled up, but I am hopeful that XP will have some
updates that will help us in this regard.

| Just scanning my insta for some of the legacy ones I ran. Looks like I did an

I once made something similar to what you're asking at my old job using macros
and web queries in excel. The macro would loop through each line on excel and
use the itemID to spit out the pricelist sales history on New and Used.
I would use it to find the most valuable versions of figures (example, most valuable
battle droids in picture.
Sadly, I lost this spreadsheet when I left that job.

Pictures would be helpful.

Indeed, a picture is worth a thousand words and with them we can help identify
parts very quickly.

| There are a couple of ways going about this.
1. With a magnifying glass, you can read the part number. Enter it into the search
function to see what it is.
2. Become familiar with the categories of parts. Plates. tile modified, wedges
etc. Then look around.
Some parts just might be Lego.
