I really like the extensive catalog, and think that most of the differences (like
the jumpers or tiles with groove, etc) are really useful.

But when you get to things like this, with a 1 x 2 x 6 arch, having something
like 4 variants, doesn't it make it too hard for sellers AND buyers?

I get the raised arch difference, that is notable, but this thin/thick thing?

To me, yes. I have never been able visually to distinguish the difference between
the two without reinforcement - medium think - thin. I just don't see it,
try as I might.

You can always check mold number molded on the part's underside, magnifying
glass maybe needed.

Or a light piped thingamajig if you happen to be an entomologist (which is kind
of cheating).

I thought about buying an otoscope the other day so I could see the part number
on the giraffe guy's hat. Then I thought that might be a sign of obsession.

but I finally was able to read this mold number

they change colors in the molding machine, I just never saw two with that much
difference before

The second is a slope I found and I can't really explain the speckle. It
is a LEGO part, seems to be mostly Light Bluish Gray. When I looked at it through
a loop, as you can see here, it has small shafts of black. I would expect round
beads, but not shafts.

Does anyone know how the slope got speckled?
Anyone interested in owning them?

Thanks for all of your input. I will double check that is or isn't LEGO.

I searched the most recent suggestions but didn't find anything about this.

Can a link to the Problem Order page be put on the Order Details Page (anywhere)
and be pre-populated with the order number when clicked?

I find it cumbersome to have to either remember the order number or copy and
paste it after navigating to the Problem order page. I can't be the only
one who has accidently canceled the wrong order (only once, but almost a few
other times).

I can't see that this would be hard to do since there is already a link to
message the buyer/seller on that page and is pre-populated with the order number
as the title.

Thanks,
Donna

Hello, i want to buy some minifigs in your store, is there some discount for

As most seem to come from a particular region of the world, I understand it's
often a simple cultural difference, but not always.

I have standard form reply, that I copy and paste. However, maybe some thought
can be given to addressing this increasingly common issue, site-wide.

I have one member from Germany who first placed the order and paid, then pretty
much demanded customs fraud. Still dealing with that shipped order. If I pasted
his correspondence here, many would most likely think it fiction

Here's where I'm way over my head....can code be written that would give
a pop-up banner, when a member attempts to message or order from another member
of a differing country? Maybe something with a fairly benign statement regarding
customs forms.

Until then, I'll just keep copying and pasting

Let me expand my thoughts a little more here.....

I don't really know what constitutes customs fraud as per US import and customs
statute.

Stating anything other than the truth about what you are shipping. Sending merchandise
as a gift, stating the value is anything other than the actual value that should
be on an invoice attached to the outside of the package, filling out anything
on the form with info that is not true.

I know there are cultural difference to consider

Definitely...I think most of us in the US feel badly for buyers in other countries
that have to live with extra taxes or even government corruption to buy items
from around the world. I know I do.

I know it's fraudulent

It's a felony if you get caught. I don't want to go to jail for doing
it!

I know it's dishonest

I know having a stranger ask me to lie, feels bitting. Personally I can't
feature asking another to lie on my behalf. Especially, to save a few bucks....

In some countries it can be a lot more than a few bucks...several hundred can
be common depending on the order amount.

It's a tough situation to have to deal with...unfortunately the only choice
for sellers in the US is to fill it out honestly.

Foster has had a number of deep threads on this subject. Maybe he will chime
in.

Yes, ^ This!! Then if they get one, a little pirate hat is attached to their

I hate when I click an off-site link in a post and it opens in the current tab.
Take a lesson from BrickSet, it's a much better experience and keeps the
user at BrickLink at the same time. (yes I know how to hold the shift or control
key to get that done, but I shouldn't have to)

I think keeping a tab open at BL when a user clicks an off site link would be
in the best interest of BL.

Thank you

If you set your forum setting to "without replies" those threads drop down the

As you can see, this returned ZERO hits even though there are a ton of different

I have always hated the BL search. I also wonder how one knows which sets are
polybags, especially when someone advertises in the forum, how can you visit
their store and find just the polybags?

Since the site is now crawled by the bots, I am wondering how a google search
would work to find things on BL?

Can there be a "verify" page before sending out wanted list notifications?

I haven't seen a need for it before, but today notifications were going to
be sent out on a lot that was canceled from an order although I told the cancellation
process to not put it back in my inventory.

The notify is very useful when adding new stock and you know what is going to
be sent out for the parts you just uploaded. But if I had blindly clicked on
the notify lots from the MyBrickLink action items, it would have sent out notifications
on a lot that was wrong to begin with and parts I did not have.

Just see a need for it now.

Thanks

Don't all states have a sales tax. If you live in the same state the store
you are buying from, and you would recognize the flag, you would immediately
see that you will have to pay sales tax in this store.

David

The way I understand it (which may be wrong), you have to charge sales tax if
you have a brick and mortar store and people within your state buy from you.
I guess I don't know if your house can be considered a B&M store and if
"hobby" sales count. There are different state rules for every state and in
my state there are different rates depending on where the sale was made. Also,
I'm not sure about how it works if you pay the sales tax on the product you
are selling, but in my opinion that would amount to the state double dipping.
I always pay sales tax on the product when I buy it, so the state is getting
their money from me upfront.

California changed the way internet sales are taxed caused Amazon to move their
call center to a different state, IIRC. Lots of people lost their jobs

This is why I never get charged sales tax when I buy from S@H, they don't
have a B&M store in Nebraska yet. I don't buy from there to sell in my store
any way, the margins are too low unless it's a sale and even then I don't
have enough cash flow to do that.

As I said, I could be wrong.

Jim

That would require BL to know which states are required to charge sales tax and
which do not.

Maybe add a check box in the sellers settings page to enable it if needed? Like
VAT?

I doubt there are many sites that still support FF 1.0, Safari 1.2 and MSIE 5.

Even PayPal requires later browsers (last time I checked).

That is not an advantage! It's a SECURITY RISK, which is why it was haked
this year.

I vote yes. I just got done pulling an order in which the entire lot was purchased
in each item. Nine of the 29 lots have either overage, some by 20 or more, or
shortage. Lucky I had stock to fill the shortages. This is the most number
of discrepancies I have seen since I started here. I have been seeing this for
the last month or so.

I don't normally check ALL of my inventory at any one time, but I do check each
lot that is sold for accuracy even if it is not bought out completely. I also
know to check if another order behind the one I am pulling may have contributed
to the total I see on the order I am pulling.

I hope it can be fixed. This is costing me more time to pull orders when I have
to hunt down parts to fill a shortage.

BL 2.0 will be more than welcome if it fixes this problem. Even if not, I just
want to see that changes are in the works. The has to be the oldest coded selling
site on the net. It's really sad.

Well said. This is a business site, period. The fact that a "community" was built
does not make it a democracy. Everyone needs to accept that fact and stop the
talk about making decisions that are the sole responsibility of the company.
The company will do as it sees fit, even if members think it's decisions are
unfair, biased or from a point of view that seems to be a double standard. They
get to do it how they want, period. Deal with it.

I can't see any of you that are disgruntled going to your boss and asking if
you could vote as to who gets hired or fired. It doesn't happen. Just because
we have developed a community amongst ourselves is of no consequence to the company,
they still have the right to regulate the membership as they see fit.

I don't think the suggestion "box" should be used to try and change the management
of the company. We pay a fee to get the service of selling our goods, we are
not partners, board members and the like. The TOS says nothing about giving us
rights to control the company. The company allowed us to develop a community
and valuable resources for our sales. They can, at any time, cut out our ability
to maintain the community and remove the resources we use to sell.

Be grateful for what they allow and accept their decisions about how they manage
us, the resources, and our stores, irregardless if you agree.

Thank you BrickLink for allowing me to post this.

we could really use the option to enter multiple items simultaneouisly (rather
than having to reload and reset ten different identical entries just to find
one darth vader minifig, as i just did...and then again for 3PO. exhausting)

I likely won't use this feature again, until this is possible. it just sucks
up too much time.

I think you can do this if you use multiple want lists. Make additional lists
an add what you want with notes. You can also have the store show all items on
all lists or all item lists that you choose.

Make additional lists on the right side of this page: http://www.bricklink.com/wantedView.asp

Change the setting to "Show multiple Wanted selection list..." Under "my display
options" on this page:
http://www.bricklink.com/wantedSettings.asp

These changes will show a list of your wanted lists with check boxes on the top
of the listing when searching "By shop" and in stores if you click the link "show
items on my wanted list" above the part categories on the left side of every
store.

As someone else has suggested, get to know the site before criticizing it.
