However, part of me is uncomfortable that Maggie or Ronald aren't at the
head of these discussions/changes, as if they are being side-stepped in this
process.
They have been performing these duties for a long-time and I think it would go
a long way to create credibility in these decisions, if they were the voice of

| No, I'm simply stating that the "rocket science" argument is flawed. It
implies that you don't need the intellect of a very scientific person, as
if said person has the capacity to know how to do everything very well.
In Suggestions, Teup writes:
| So, you are saying it is difficult. We're talking about sellers here, people
who decide that they can handle selling Lego. Not every person who signs up on
Bricklink has to understand how to set up shipping methods. But I think it is
only fair that for the small portion of those members who really are serious
enough to get into selling, it should be expected of them that they're able
to handle it. If they're not, they should either ask for help or just use
some other way to sell Lego that they do understand (In fact, I think setting
things up at Brickowl is easier than at BL.)

| And I think on the seller's side of the interface, it should also warn that
not all weight/volume/value/country combinations are covered. I think it's
the sellers responsibility to make sure that they have it all covered, it's
not rocket science. But it is true it takes some concentration and staring at
the screen to make sure everything is OK, so an algorythm that checks if there

| Instant checkout isn't so simple. You can think you have all bases covered,
but later discover something that prevents a buyer from ordering.
In addition, we have no way to test our setup or see a buyer's cart to troubleshoot
an issue.
I use instant checkout, though I would never recommend, as I'm certain to
have lost orders because of it not functioning quite right.
| A size restriction sounds ridiculous, I never saw that... How can a buyer possibly
anticipate this? There's no way of knowing how big your order is going to
be, nor is it the job of the buyer to be a mathematician even if it was. I think
sellers should have shipping methods ready for all sizes.
But sounds like the lot average problem could actually be fixed by Bricklink
itself. If they flag stores who use it properly, it will solve this frustration
instantly for every store that uses it. And is this lot average indicated in
the listings, in the same way that minimum order is? I really think it should
be.

In Suggestions, fuatecelik writes:
| Minifig sh104 is incorrectly labelled as Power Man (Victor Alvarez). I don't
know where this confusion comes from, but this figure appears in the Ultimate
Spider-Man line that is based on the cartoon series of the same name. This is
what Power Man (Luke Cage) looks like in that cartoon. Victor Alvarez is a different
character that has only appeared in the comics and who has a similar appearance
to Luke in the cartoon. But officially and canonically, this is Luke Cage.
This distinction is important because Luke Cage is a very well known and popular
Marvel character that has appeared in several media including two seasons of
Netflix television, while Victor Alvarez is relatively obscure character that
has not been adapted into other media.

Please consider creating 3 options for wanted list viewing among users.

Much like reserving items where you enter a user name. This would allow one

| Thank you for the info.
Something weird about the below subject. The rollover icons themselves can be
clicked on like a regular link in addition to the rolled over options.
| To oversimplify what's actually going on here is this: Those top nav items
are not links. They are "rollover detectors" tied to a script. When your cursor
hovers over one of these areas, it triggers the script which then shows the dropdown
box containing links to pages. As the top nav items are not links, the browser
can't give you the right-click options to open the link in a new window because
the items aren't links. The items in the drop-downs are links, but the top-navs
aren't. Clicking the top nav activates something in the script which then
takes you to a page.

| If BrickLink keeps going at the rate it is going by forcing out its top contributors,
BrickLink won't have much of a community of volunteers left to do anything

| There's something about the "Required" feature on wanted lists that doesn't
make sense to me. When I select "required" for a particular item, the system
doesn't factor in the quantity.
On my current list I need 2 piece of a rare(ish) part, so I select "required,"

Is this working as intended? I would certainly like to be able to have some

| I deleted my vote, however, I believe that bank transfers among individuals are
a path to unfair play. This is especially so when sellers charge extra for a
buyer to use a payment method that has some form of recourse against fraud.
This can even happen with honest people that don't intend to cause issues.
A seller gets extremely ill, coma, death, and is unable to ship the goods.
Unfortunately, it happens. I've read of at least 3 deaths, 1 coma, and various
other issues to BL members, since joining.
I will continue to use PayPal for this extra piece of mind that my buyers have
protection should something happen.

In fairness for security of buyers, I would only vote yes if sellers were required
to offer a payment option that allowed recourse at no penalty (fees, etc).
Over the years I have read many forum messages about buyers losing money due
to using IBAN (often in the hundreds of $, euro). Bank transfers don't seem
to be in the spirit of fair e-commerce between individuals. Registered businesses

| This is where I think you are a little confused.
If I as builder decide that I don't need a bag of parts, then I can list
them in my store for whatever price I want. I'm probably less inclined to
factor in costs.
However, if I invest money to obtain a great deal of product, then there's
a set amount I need just to break even. There's generally a substantially
greater cost in being able to offer a vast selection of parts for a buyer to
choose from and that investment must be recouped plus profit for the seller to
continue to operate.
What's happening is the amount of profit has shrunk by a very significant
amount over the past decade that operating a store in not as beneficial.
This will lead to problems buying individual Lego pieces at some point, if the
trend continues.
Example: 10-13 years ago I had no problem buying sets with a part out value of
3-5x what I paid, which allowed room to discount slow moving parts.
Now, I would be lucky to get 2x and that doesn't allow much room for adjustments
when you factor in all costs.
In Suggestions, TokerSays writes:
| I guess that's where I get a little flustered. I wish I could remember where
but I saw that Bricklink started out because one Lego hobbyist had a bunch of
extra pieces that they decided to sell because they didn't need them. Those
hobbyist keep the average price per piece down. They get rid of their extra
pieces, they make a small profit. But its the big stores, whose hobby is to
sell Lego pieces, that are driving prices artificially high. Without the average
pricing tool we allow them to set their own profit margin. If they sold at the
same price as the hobbyist, their profits would be smaller. But it would be
a profit. And I would that if those big stores sold at an average price their
sales would increase. It may not increase enough to make up for the original
lost profit but they would still make a bigger profit than the hobbyist by virtue
of selling more product. I don't think I should pay $1.48 for piece because
the store has the quantity I need and the average price is $0.30. That markup
isn't for the Seller to make a profit, that markup is a blatant overprice.

listing at what appeared to be near or below cost, which satisfied many people's
desire for cheap Lego and the constant price wars between HoL and a select few

| If we exclude the free shipping from your terms, then I would have no idea how
much shipping would have been for said order or any order over 13oz.
It's not about being fair or not, but about estimating the cost before the
order is placed.
| Yes, but don't most sellers have a chart and terms that reflects what the
price will be? For mine it doesn't matter if you live in the same town,
I charge the same thing as I would charge any Domestic Customer, etc. Based on
my experience buying on BL, my rates are very fair.

| Please consider showing each seller's postal code next to their state. It
is important information in helping to estimate shipping costs.
For example, I just made a purchase from a store in Missouri, so I Googled zip
codes for that state. The zip code that I selected told me that shipping would
be zone 4. However, had I known the exact zip code or city, I would have discovered
that it was zone 5.
The difference was only about $1.50, but that amount could add up fast when you've
placed as many orders as I have (1,472).
* Or the name of the city, if that is preferable.

| Yea, but we'll be getting BL Studio soon. Nothing like it has ever been
done before and it was certainly the most requested feature from buyers and sellers
alike.
| I agree that the setup is not ideal, and it holds out a lot of hope for being
ideal. Something in the interim could have been done, but they did not set it
up that way. I don't know what else to say than I feel your pain and I am
doing a lot of work to make it less painful. With all of the other things needing
to be fixed and developed on this site that are much more important (e.g. instant
checkout, seller inventory tools, settings that don't stick, the awful version
2.0 wanted list changes that are needed, etc.), I don't see them putting
resources into changing this small annoyance anytime soon.
Best regards,
Randy

| I have always had a problem with vagueness when sellers say a set is complete.
When a seller says a set is complete I don't know if that means its just
all the pieces, or if its all pieces, instructions, and box. My suggestion is
that when selling a set there are three bubbles to fill. One to fill if it has
all pieces, one for instructions included, and one for original box included.
That way buyers can know for sure that they are getting a "complete" set. Thank
you.

| I recently was trying to find parts and I wanted to source them from a seller
relatively close. This turned out to be a pain because there wasn't any automated
way to do it. It would be great if the marketplace was able to sort search results
by distance. The necessary information (zipcodes is all you need for a general
estimate) is already available in peoples account information. There are free
API's that will return distance. Google, for example, allows 2500 searches
per day under their free API plan.
I quickly searched the forum and didn't see this suggestion so figured I'd
throw it out there since it's a common & useful feature of marketplace searches.
Thanks

| Could you give an example? Not applicable is primarily used for stickers and
part assemblies.
In Suggestions, KingAlanI writes:
| When a part is listed with color (not applicable), the sample image is white.
When listing white parts, this can cause confusion because they wouldn't
come up in a search for white and the error is hard to detect. When the parts
are actually some other color, the confusion is more obvious.
Perhaps the Not Applicable image could be a line drawing or otherwise altered.

| I wondered why a buyer of mine had trouble using a coupon, so I checked on the
selection process using one of the coupons offered to me.
Seriously, nothing needs to be said beyond it was terribly incorporated into
the checkout process. Please fix this.
P.S. I was under the impression that the upgrade would move BL steps forward.
It seems for every step forward another 2 were made backward. We lost in-store
settings that were in place for, as long as, I can recall and that's just
one of many missteps. Why?

| As it is now when a seller uses two accounts to create fake sales and fluff their
feedback score the merge completely wipes out any evidence of the poor behavior*.
This means that potential buyers won't likely know of it to avoid shopping
in that particular store.
My suggestion is that when such a merge includes feedback that it becomes a negative
with a standardized BL comment.
* Sure you can see the merge history though it does not necessarily mean poor
intentions.
P.S. My only concern is that it may be pointless as the member would just create
a different account to sell under. Thoughts?

| I'll pass (but won't vote). Whenever I offered best offer on an ebay
listing I often received offers that were quite unacceptable. I'm not talking
about 10-20% off, but 50-60% lower than fair market price. My items were always
priced to sell to begin with.

even look at the page where it's located when choosing a store. In my mind

I noticed a small problem since the new website, when we go on our orders (as
seller) and then we enter on the shipping price box (or other boxes also, like
additional fees), it shows a small pop-up box with suggested prices (box title
is Shipping cost suggestion calculated by), the Z-index of this box must be higher
because the footer is above it, then we can not see the buttons "close" or "apply",
it happens when the screen show only 2 or 3 orders, then the height of the window
is small and then as i said, the footer is above a big part of the pop-up box
My english is not that good, i hope you will understand what i am saying

and do them all at once. Deleting from the new carts must be done one by one.
Please consider improving this for more efficient deleting.

Author: | tEoS | Posted: | Jun 15, 2016 21:10 | Subject: | Wanted lists within stores | Viewed: | 97 times | Topic: | Suggestions | Status: | Implemented | |
| Currently, I'm somewhat digging the new wanted list features; however I've
found something that just doesn't work efficiently.
When you select a wanted list within a store it does not recognize the subtractions
you've made from other purchases. The only workaround that I've found
is to add the store to my favorites and search from the Want pages. Adding to
my favorites only works well to find the store quickly because I never use the
"most" favorites.
Another flaw is that you cannot subtract items on your list by store batch.
Instead you MUST wait until the order is finalized else it will double count
previous batches. I realize this is probably working as intended, though sometimes
I find it overwhelming to do hundreds of lots at once.
Please tweak the new wanted list to work properly within stores.
