The Canadian Samsonite had its own way of packaging. Strange there used only
one plastic bag and most parts were just loose inside the box.

Here is another from here

but with bags (all sealed)
But my question is when you deleting 12 of them why you addng only 2 on sprue
not 6?

and you are right. Thank you for finding this mistakes in the inventory. These
errors are there since 2005 (sic!)
(Just wonder there are so many SW UCS collectors and nobody notice it earlier
)
Black 4592c03 occur in instruction:
p.40 -1x
p.46 -1x
p.48 -1x
p.54 -1x
p.123 -1x
p.146 -1x
p.156 -2x
p.158 -2x
p.166 -4x
p.175 -2x
p.180 -2x
p.183 -4x
p.184 -8x
So 30 there are
Light gray 4592c03 occur in instruction only on page 200 (8x) and 201 (8x), so
16 there are.
I think I know why we have these numbers in this inventory. When you carefully
study inv change log for this set https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvChangeItem.asp?itemType=S&itemNo=10030-1&viewDate=Y&viewStatus=1
it can be notice that extras of these two parts were added on Sep 9, 2005 (also
in the same change request were changed quantities of 3 other extras, I will
return to them). But after that no other changes for those levers so it seems
that initally this set was inventoried with extras of them in regular section
but after addition them to extras quantities of those levers were never reduced.
Why I think so it is the case. Look what happened with magnets in the same time.
Changed to 32 then were added two extras and quantity reduced to 30 and again
extras changed to four and quantity in regular reduced to 28. So here when quantity
of magnets in extra section was changing also quantity in regular was adjusted.
But it was never done for levers and instruction confirms that.
Now let's look at other two changed extras quantities in the same date:
black
extras changed from 1 to 2
and blue
extras changed from 1 to 2
Here also quantities of them weren't adjusted after change of extras quantities.
So could there also be a mistake? the same as in levers?
Why there could be? Let's check parts count for this set. On box there are
clearly 3104 parts stated, it is best visible in this review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-5Hc-T9xXg
(I attached also screeshot). We have now 3108 parts in this inventory. After
this change when we reduced quantities of those of levers we will have 3106 parts
so we are still 2 too many. So there could be still similar mistake in these
pins I think Also it is interesting that this set don't have this one
extra (very common extra part as an extra):
(but as I check not all sets from 2002 have it as an extra).
So anybody volunteer to check whole instruction of this set to count this
(154 to count)
and this part
(219 to count)
and maybe also this one
just to be sure
(I will try to do it but in no predictably future, when I find finally some free
time when nothing to do )
Last thing inventory of this set was confirmed from sealed set content btw but
there are still mistakes at it occured

Nope. You may not believe this, but I have never even tasted alcohol and have
never experimented with drugs. I don't use caffeine. I smoke cigarettes

I don't think there's a thing wrong with drug or alcohol use, but I have

I wanted to include some additional information about this set for future reference
and an inventory change is the best way to do that.
First, I personally and carefully checked every single brick in this set from
sealed contents for which I opened every bag and handled the parts (photos of
my set attached). Mine was the early version of the set released in 1991 and
there were 12 bags in the set. All of the bricks included cross supports except
a single 2 x 3 brick in yellow (the other 11 of the same brick had cross supports).
This is a late appearance for this brick (two years late according to BrickLink's
current timeline) and I was surprised to find it, but there it was.
As for inside supports, those little ridges inside the brick which are only currently
distinguished for one brick (the Brick 2 x 2 without Inside Supports in case
the title or part number changes in the future):
All bricks in the set, including those with designs, had these ridges with the
exceptions listed below. I mention this because it will be useful data if we
decide to distinguish these parts in the future (I compared the parts listed
below (except the last two, for which I had no comparison parts) to recent examples
and all of the newer bricks I checked had inside supports).
The aforementioned 2 x 3 brick in yellow without cross supports.
All 2 x 6 bricks in the set.
All 2 x 8 bricks in the set.
All 2 x 10 bricks in the set.
All 4 x 12 bricks in the set.
All 8 x 16 bricks in the set.
The empty window frames had hollow studs as I indicated in the inventory. The
bricks with eyes had no white included as indicated in the inventory.
Finally, and I really don't think we'd ever distinguish this difference,
exactly half of the doors and windows were attached to the left and half to the
right. So two doors attached facing left and four windows attached facing left
and the same number of each facing right. TLG did not distinguish this difference
and I see no need for us to. The door and window directions are easily reversible.
The complete contents of the set are the storage case with no lid, 12 bags of
parts and four green large bricks loose, the cover/inventory cardboard with nothing
printed on the other side, four double-sided activity/instructions cards, and
the informational sheet of paper. All of these are included in an outer original
box with the set number printed thereupon. I have the activity cards from the
1994 version and verified that each of these was different than the 1991 version
in spite of having the same 6-digit identification number printed on each card
for both versions.
I'm certain this last bit has no relevance whatsoever to the discussion,
but I mention it for the sake of completeness: my second cousin's first name

| As previously written, my camera is not able to capture the nuance of the color
in the way I see it.
Anyway, I just realized that I have set which contains a reddish brown
cape. I just compared. There's a definite difference in color. The one from
7965 definitely has a reddish tint, which I still think the other one is missing.
I took a new picture, but the difference is still not as clear as I see it with
my eyes.
So what do you say? Are they still considered to be the same color although they
seem not to be?

All other are now approved or rejected.

I was confused between the blue connector
[p=bb141c01]
and
[p=bb236bc01]
The wire with connector
comes with the connector
[p=bb236bc01]
These things should be fixed (better photos to be added, wires need to have an
inventory so that we can easily see what connector comes with what wire)
I did not know that the blue connector
[p=bb141c01]
exists (thought it exists only in light gray). Currently, it appears only with
the set 901-1 (only released in US) but it is listed ONLY by European sellers.
With what set did these European sellers find it? (I don't know, but my guess
is 107-1)
The box art of 107-1 shows the blue connector
[p=bb141c01]
but the box art and instructions of sets 182-1 and 183-1 shows the connectors
[p=bb236bc01]
The white wire with blue connector bb141c01 is not yet added to the catalog of
BL. If the inventory admins decide to keep bb141c01 with 107-1, somebody should
first add it but I don't have any copy of this blue connector.

Sorry for the long wait for conclude this request
Exactly part assembly plugs with wire which you want to add to the set to replace
separate entries of plugs an wire are not the same, plugs variant is diffrent
in assembly than variant of blue plugs which was in this inventory.
I will return the original blue plug and white wire which were there before this
request to regular section of this inventory and move 996bc96gray to alternate.
So as this part which left in this request is wrong for this set (wrong variant
of plugs) this will be rejected.
We can return to this inventory when correct plug and wire assembly will be added
to the catalog with photo.

This assembly can’t be New: you have assembled the parts yourself, that’s the
definition of Used.
|
Rubbish, putting two brand new, unused parts together does not make them used.
I list the assembly as new if the parts came from a sealed set
|
You assembled the parts. That's literally the definition of what makes them
used (previously assembled). You can't build a set and then sell it as 'new,
only assembled once'. There was a big argument a few years ago about whether
stacking bricks/plates at the Pick-A-Brick wall made them 'used' instead
of 'new' (my opinion is yes). There's also the argument that minifigs
can't be sold as 'new' if they are assembled (I'm on the fence
about this one).

I personally think that assembled hinges can be marked as new because they have
not been taken apart and if a buyer wants separated parts, they can order them
separately. Maybe there should be an option for marking the condition of inventories
as "new but assembled".

|
I'd say used, as there is the possibility of damage when opening it. Of course,
you could test it by applynig power to it, but that makes it used. There will
also be minor wear on the screws, just like clicking two bricks together and
unclicking them causes wear and makes them used.

Just to correct that, the argument about minifigures is can a seller assemble
them and still call them new. There is no argument about can a minifigure be
new if it is assembled - the answer is clearly yes, as in some cases LEGO sells
assembled minifigures and by definition those assembled minifigures can be new
as that is how they were sold.

Well, the definition says New should have been manipulated for sorting only.
Opening isn’t sorting… unless you sort by production date
Now, it’s about screws, not clicking plastic parts, so it’s less “Used” than,
say, removing arms from a torso, but some may see it as “Used” nonetheless.

Randy,
I have saved many photos of used, MISB, or sealed copies for various train sets
from 80s and even before 80s. I got them either from their owners or from past
auctions. So I cannot always find any link as those links are mostly broken by
now. My friend Morris (lego.12vtrains) has saved many photos since 2014-15 and
shared them with me.
For this set, I have photos of many copies. I have also bought an MISB one and
it is currently in the custom office.
One photo is taken from the store Bluxe. You can find easily his photos on facebook.
Search Bluxe. (can I add a link to facebook here?)
Nkiss82 sent me photos of his MISB copy. I used them already for this request:

| OK, got it.
By the way, thanks very much for helping me with these inventory changes. If
you can find any evidence for any other sets in the 1980-1992 range that included
1x1 round plates, it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Randy

Randy,
I have saved many photos of used, MISB, or sealed copies for various train sets
from 80s and even before 80s.

It has been sometime I am thinking about this one:
Does opening the screws (located on the top) and removing the motor housing in

not sealed in any way, so opening the motor is very easy: one only need to open
the screws)

Rubbish, putting two brand new, unused parts together does not make them used.
I list the assembly as new if the parts came from a sealed set
|
You assembled the parts. That's literally the definition of what makes them
used (previously assembled). You can't build a set and then sell it as 'new,
only assembled once'. There was a big argument a few years ago about whether
stacking bricks/plates at the Pick-A-Brick wall made them 'used' instead
of 'new' (my opinion is yes). There's also the argument that minifigs
can't be sold as 'new' if they are assembled (I'm on the fence
about this one).

was like "only a girl? oh wait a sec, there's the boy hair" and the box literally
has the boy on the side of the box. To me the hair seems off on the dad and he's
not shown that way either. Nor is it logical that a minifig has an extra piece
to make a marginally different minifig with no different meaning. The torso of
the child is clearly unisex (if not boyish) so in my opinion everything points
to the hairpiece being intended for the child.
If so, it begs the question if we really want to stick 100% to the instructions

is not such a stretch.
|
I think you are not asking for what we ultimately want, perhaps because you are
aware that it is as far as we can get without the programmers getting involved.
What we ultimately want is to be able to put alternates into minifig inventories.
There are quite a LOT of minifigs the last few years that come with a hair and
a hat, usually pictured somewhere with each. I think it would clutter things
up a lot. Look at [s-60134-1] and . They have a certain way they
are designed to go, but the instructions show some pictures of them all mixed
and matched, legs, torsos, heads and hair. They each have 15 minifigs. How
many variants does that inventory need to have in it?

Your opinion has been noted and future admin teams may decide to go in that direction.
However, the current admin team on both the catalog and inventory sides had discussions
and agreed on how to proceed in this situation. I do not see that changing for
the foreseeable future.
| I understand the Bricklink catalog follows the instructions and that is a good
and smart choice, but how far will we go?
|
There are a few other situations like this that I know of from my personal collection.
In all of those cases, the current guidelines that are in place were followed
in the catalog and subsequently the inventories. So, for now, it makes sense
to keep things consistent with the guidelines to keep the catalog consistent.
| To me the hair seems off on the dad and he's not shown that way either.

First of all, you are assuming that it is a dad, but I do to. What is not an
assumption is that he *is* shown that way in one version of the instructions:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1117220
| Nor is it logical that a minifig has an extra piece to make a marginally different
minifig with no different meaning.
|
Since when was LEGO logical? They already had *two* attempts at this, and
according to you, they screwed up on both of them. Who are we to say that it
is not the way they intended it? Third time's a charm?
| The torso of the child is clearly unisex (if not boyish)

If the torso is *clearly* unisex, then how could it be "boyish"?

in every case.
|
As I stated above, at least for the foreseeable future, the answer is "yes".
If Robert, Ronald and Maggie want to add this topic to the Catalog Roadmap, then
I don't see why it could not be considered. I would not expect it to have
any sort of large priority, though.
Thanks for your comments,
Randy

Although they cannot sell it as a boy as depicted on the box, unless listed as
a custom minifig. No doubt in time people will wonder which minifigure they have
and not be able to match up the boy version with a minifigure in the catalogue.

Haha that's crazy, seems the person making the instructions made the mistake.
I guess Bricklink follows the instructions and not the box, so probably it should
stay like this then... Although unless dad has a job as a hairdresser or fashion
designer I do think he looks a bit off with that kids/teenage haircut

Well, we’re assuming it’s a “dad”. It could be a “big brother” or a “young uncle”
too
And anyone can change the interpretation (and minifigs) to better represent their

I guess if dad really is a hairdresser or fashion designer, the girl's hair
could be even better

LOL, so the Christmas giftset 40292 has a male and a female hairpiece so that
the child can be a boy or a girl (and they're both on the box). But someone
uploaded a picture where the alternate hair is put on the DAD's head, kind
of making it a dad's hairdo optionality feature
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=40292-1
|
Actually, it IS a “dad’s hairdo optionality feature”: there are two versions
of the instructions and each one uses different hair for the dad.

Comments from Submitter:
Source: sealed box
I modified only parts I can see inside the blister.
I think other color come on Sprue, but I didn't see them.
How do you deal with odd count of regular parts?
39 = 19 X 2 + 1 and 1 extra?
|
On pictures, you can't see clearly trans-red parts.
But I've seen the Sprue by eyes
