In the instructions the light looks green, but the PCC in the parts list links to light blue. I am not convinced the submitter who changed this was working from an actual set. All the images I have seen of this set assembled (both official and unofficial) clearly show trans light blue. It doesn't make any sense, either, to have a green light on a road vehicle.
The second Raikkonen helmet is visible in the instructions - it sits in the far right corner of the shop in a special display area. See p. 51 (4514156 or 4524010).

The A version of the part is by all accounts an outlier, and when looking at the change log for Oct 1 2012, we can see this line has been subject to one of those "double changes" where the log does not accurately reflect the intentions of the submitters.
In any regard, there have been that many changes to the original inventory that we should not hold on to any original variants too tightly.

Duplo string by definition should always be thick. It is thick enough to be grasped by a minifig hand, and it is nowhere near the size of medium string that is used for special purposes on ships or in heavy duty Technic applications.
Trouble with gauging this string likely stemmed from images with Duplo-sized studs.

This completes the round of inv changes for the hoses in this set. The only other thing to consider doing is setting the match numbers so that all the hoses with nozzles are on one number and the the hose extensions are on another. There is no reason to think they can't be used interchangeably, and more than likely the transitions from one color to the next happened at different times for different parts.
A further word of explanation, to pull in the related requests. What we see now in the inventory are 4 sets of hoses, intended to be set off by the colors.
1) Old type with dual ends - PLG (alt 2)
2) New type with single ends - PLG (reg 2) should be listed by the color of hose
3) New type with single ends - LBG (alt 2) should be listed by the color of hose
4) New type with single ends - mixed (reg) this change was apparently intended to rectify the new type hoses being listed by end color instead of hose color. The error of pairing an LBG with a PLG ending persisted from previous inv changes. These newest additions are superfluous and should be deleted.
As to why some hoses are listed by the color of the fixture and others are listed by the color of the hose itself, I am sure there is a good reason for it, but I'd rather see this inventory fixed with the way things are now, and later if a measure is adopted to treat all hoses the same, appropriate changes to the inventories can be made at that time.

This entry is designed for assemblies of all one color (see part inventory), and listing this counterpart in this set shows the base part of the ladder as coming in "Flat Silver". Which should really be LBG anyway - but the base only came in Black, Yellow, and Dark Gray.

The silver helmet is a complete outlier in 2012. In fact it is also suspect in 2008 and 2007 because the sources were not sealed and alternates were added in both cases.
I have also looked through dozens of 6168 listings and videos and have not seen a single silver helmet. Considering the other basic problems discovered so far with this inventory, I am certain the silver helmet is a mistake.
