Exactly. New, you part out and list an entire set all at once. Used, you track
down and list a single piece. Then the next one is the same piece, but you have
to list it differently because you want to note differences in condition and
price them accordingly. The only reason I can figure that people can make any
money at all on Used is they can often get hugely undervalued lots on sites like
Craigslist or by hitting up garage sales. Or, you know, you can price it higher
than New and hope people will buy it without paying attention because "Used is
always less expensive".

I have no idea what you mean by that. The inventories in the catalog are submitted
by users, and they're generally inventoried using new sets, not used.

Replace “to inventory” with “to put in your store’s inventory.”

That definitely changes the meaning, but it still doesn't make sense. Has
there been some change in the way parts are added to a store when they are used?

I understand a lot of people use BrickStock (or similar) but sellers tools are
scarce on BL.

Is the quote function broken? I had a quote come in 5 days ago and I had no notification
or anything regarding it. I only knew because the buyer messaged me last night.
This is not acceptable.

Your site has duplicated lots on numerous occasions, this is not acceptable.

Also on numerous occasions I've had customers tell me that they cannot checkout
after ironing out potential issues I have found out it's the site, not me.
I've lost money to this and again, this is not acceptable.

Most things you post are vague from every angle and you sit in the shadows whilst
everyone is up in question. Regardless of if the feedback is good or bad you
still push out the garbage updates anyway. This is not acceptable.

Your site is very slow at times and it's getting more and more frustrating
when trying to work. All of a sudden the site will grind to a standstill. This
is not acceptable.

Your ability to inventory used Lego is appalling. Why not work on this rather
than Brickarms? that's right. Money. If it won't make you money then
you won't bother. This is not acceptable.

I sell on BrickOwl too and I've never had a single issue. You may be the
market leaders currently but your cockyness will catch up with you soon. I pay
my monthly fees on time every time and this is the mess I have to work with?
Can't it just 'work'? Why is everything difficult and half made?
Not acceptable. I'm tired of apologising to customers because of the issues
on this site. I dread to think how many people have turned away from my store
and not said anything.

I'm just frustrated and the quote issue lastnight was the tipping point for
me. Fix your site.

I'm aware there's trolls on here so please keep your witty comments to
yourself.

Good post.
Do not expect BL to answer. When Jennifer first announced that BL would answer
ALL questions and concerns before implementation. They never have. I just do
not understand whey they would say things that are not true.
I have been here for a very long time and have sold almost $500K in Lego, mostly
here and a lot on ebay and many from my posting on Lugnet. This site is not
what it used to be. At one time the site took the feelings and suggestions from
their members. They actually answered questions and more importantly, listened
to the members. That is no longer the case. Perhaps silence should be replaced
with give and take, and that just might help the site grow in a more positive
manner. It is really sad what has become of Dan's dream.

Just a question; how much money can a site make off of this paypal change?

Not wanting to put words in OP’s mouth - to me it sounds like he is not having
issues with set inventories, but more with uploading used parts from a bulk lot
(so to put used parts in your inventory). That process, if only using BL-provided
tools, is painful. If it weren’t for BrickStock, I am sure our shop would not
flourish like it does right now.

  Reece

I've been on BO for 3 weeks and in that time over 50 stores have opened.
Bricklink has 100 fewer stores than in the summer last year (UK stores). Small
sample size, but a sign of things to come?

I just listed 25 vintage sets on BrickOwl yesterday. I have a few other small
lots there but haven't haven't had a sale yet even with with my 800 feedback
boost (not really surprising, I guess, owing to my dearth of inventory). My
difficulty is deciding if/when to synch my inventory between both platforms.
I know there is software that will do this, but I just haven't had the time
required to sit down and learn it.

BrickOwl currently only accepts BrickStore and BrickOwl formats for inventory
uploads. I think if Lawrence developed an upload template that would accept
a BrickLink file format, he might see a surge in new sellers.

Hmm, possibly.

One thing that is happening though; I've had Bricklink customers buy from
me but on BrickOwl in recent weeks. It's not just a few either, it's
many.

The Classic Wanted View By Shop still works.

You keep saying this in all the threads, and maybe I’m just dense, but Classic
is so inscrutable to me that it may as well also be broken.

(Just in case: You get Classic “By Shop” by clicking “Classic” then “By Shop”
on the menu bar in the WL page.)

It shows the list of stores ordered by the number of lots or items they have.
That’s exactly what you get on the (new) “Buy” page just after loading it (when
it works ).

What Classic doesn’t have:
1. no Auto-Select, no Easy-Buy,
2. no way to select items to look for, it’s whole WLs or nothing,
3. no way to quickly see exactly what items each store has without opening the
store,
4. no way to select a store / preselect items to buy (thus removing the items
from the list of items to look for and updating the list of stores),
5. and undoubtedly other things I don’t remember right now.

Well, at least, you still have a list of stores with items in your WL….

The Classic view does exactly the same as the New view.
For many it can be helpful enough to know about the existence of the Classic

But doing so yields an unpleasant surprise: my response is sent to a black hole
instead of the actual sending party.

I (now) know that the member address can be found in the body of the email, but
two things:

1 - Would I ever really want to reply to 'blservice@bricklink.com'? (No)

2 - Replying on a mobile device where copying text segments (the email address)

I can't think of any good reason that the sending member's address ISN'T
the one provided upon receipt and would respectfully suggest that it be changed.

Interesting...

You don't have to click submit after just one. You can pick a new status
for several orders, and then do the one submit click. So not "change status"
- "submit" - "change status" - "submit" etc, but rather "change status" - "change

Thank you!

Okay, I get how we all love that nothing ever changes and that we love to keep
stuff the way it is but seriously, the guy is absolutely right!!!
And I am sure that this is the reason why there are about 100 people in this
forum when the site is used by thousands!
Even though you can click on a million buttons to make it look like you want
it to, it should look like that from the start and not with clicking links on
the bottom of a page every single time you want to read something.

The studio beta forum is what a normal forum should look like. It's been
invented... probably about 25 years ago!

All you have to do is set up a page with the setting you like and then save it
as a favorite up on your favorites bar and you wont have to keep clicking on
the options. Just do it once and all is well.

As far as changing the way it looks, I am all for that. I love the changes BL
has done so far. The only reason I kind of got on the guys case was because he
was complaining (with more of an attitude) about things that need to be changed
but was not even willing to see if the options he wanted already existed. He
complained even before he took just a couple of minutes to learn what options
existed.

Already there. Click the 'Without repliedls' on top of the page.

Yes it is. Posts change colour when read.

I should be able to set my default search settings - actually it'd be best
if it just remembered my current settings, then I could tweak them for my next
search.

Most specifically, it should remember that I'd like results for the US (or
maybe North America). Instead I have to hit that button every time 'cause
the first results are usually Europe with ridiculous shipping.

It most certainly did. After completing a purchase, there was a button to "Remove
items from Wanted List". Worked like a charm. I used it (literally) hundreds
of times.

You mean the "See items in order on wanted list" which would bring up all the
wanted list items in your order and then you could delete them if you wanted?

-Pete

Because that can be switched on and off in your settings and can be accessed
on your orders page. See this post: http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=993808

-Pete

Thank you for your help, and thank you for having the vintage pieces I needed
to recreate my police boat from 1978. I thought I had dealt with you in the past.
I did have to turn that function on in my settings. It still doesn't do
what I expect it to. I got a chance last night to try it out. I think I'm
throwing an extreme situation at this new BUY function, and my expectations are
way too high. I'm trying to build 5 of the 7 Speed Racer vehicles. I have
them on 4 separate wanted lists. 300+ pieces in 86 lots, with identical lots
on several of them. This is what I had to go through to adjust everything....
Followed the link provided after purchase to the "Search Wanted List" page...
Manually adjusted several quantities (took notes on the partial quantities before
i placed the order). Broke the list into four pages. 100 items per page option
would have come in handy. Had to make sure I saved each individual page.
Then.. apply each of the four wanted lists (will only apply ONE list or ALL,
no option for multiple... check boxes would be handy here). Or at least I thought
so. It doesn't work correctly. I had one list selected, and it showed entries
for ALL of my wanted lists. Not just the ones present in this order. That caught
me by surprise. That wasn't very common (3 lots), but it could have been
very irritating on those future projects. After catching that, and thinking I
had a grasp on this, I realize that I had hit the delete button and had failed
to "un-check" the partial qty lots that I had just adjusted. Went back and fixed
that..
It just seems to me like all the information is there, and it's not being
used efficiently. The quantity’s that I ordered are there. I don't understand
why I can't be done with fewer steps. Not gonna mess with a "have" function.
Have and % of completion are useless to me and will surely irritate me even more.
I don't need Bricklink to keep track of what i have. If I need 20 of something,
and I buy 15 from a vendor, all I need is for the WANT qty to change to 5. I
think that’s pretty simple. I spent a couple of hours last night trying to figure
this out. I feel like I'm spending an extensive amount of time doing something
that BrickLink should be able to do in seconds. That means less time to shop
and spend money.
I do admit, this is the most complicated order I've ever made. I think my
high hopes and expectations for the BUY function coaxed me into it. It wouldn't
be this difficult if I had chosen to purchase ONLY full quantities, AND not had
so many identical lots scattered throughout several wanted lists. Then it would
work pretty similar to old version and I wouldn't be whining.

The "Apply Order" button seems to assume that I only order for one wanted list
at a time. Also, for some reason is does not seem to work always but I have not
tested that more.

At the same time the "Items in order on wanted list" has gained a bug and gives
incomplete results.

My understanding is that eCheck can happen when the buyer chooses to pay with
funds in their bank account, or the PayPal account doesn't have enough cash
in it.

So far after a couple of onsite payments both were normal, no eChecks. Had
eCheck's in the past from non-onsite payments. So unless there is some
other bug...it seems fine to me.

Converting this reply to the "Problem" topic.

IMO it does not make sense at all to use the "Paid" status if payment and order
status is separated. Whoever programmed this PayPal (Onsite) feature either was
not familiar with the separation (and its triggering the action items) or desperately
looked for a solution to block order additions after payment is done. An elegant
solution would be to block order additions if the payment status was set by the
system to "Complete" after payment, regardless of order status. But this
may have required more programming work.

I don't want to stir the pot too much, but some people have seen that onsite
payments result in people apparently paying with eCheck. If that bug (if it _is_
a bug) is still there, having the system flip the payment status to "complete"
would not be appropriate for those eCheck payments. In those cases it should
go to "clearing" or somesuch.

Maybe the developer knew this and explicitly avoided "complete" to force the
seller to decide it is complete. Just shooting in the dark here (as most of us
do when it comes to figuring out how new features are meant to work).

Hi Russell,

thanks for that hint - I wasn't aware of this workaround!

This item is included in my wanted list (and very likely in a few others as well),
but this is not being displayed correctly - both the missing number in "My Wanted
List (1)" and the completely missing "On xx Wanted Lists" information seem to
be a technical issue here.

When browsing my own wanted lists, I see a correlation between this effect and
database entries without any price guide information and current listing for
sale - so maybe it's just a similar glitch like the "action item missing
on start page" issue where a certain condition was needed to display these correctly.

for a few parts, I see the ""On xx Wanted Lists" entry, but not the "(1)" in
"My Wanted List (1)" - see attached example images.
(Yes, all four of these items ARE included in a wanted list of mine!)

Please have a look into this.

Thanks!
Jan

You may want to change this to a suggestion.

In Selling, TheBrickStore writes:
  Hi BL community:

After careful and deliberate consideration, I honestly believe BrickLink needs
to establish a timeframe for shipping of an order from the date/time the order
was placed with a seller. The site seems to be moving in a "carte blanche" way
for sellers. Sellers who take weeks/months to ship orders should be banned quite
honestly. Those few sellers are NOT a GOOD commodity for this site. New buyers
just don't understand and experienced buyers like myself are becoming more
and more alarmed over these long long shipping practices by a few sellers. Sure
you can avoid them once you know who they are but why give any seller more than
seven business days to get an order in the mail???? I just don't get it.
What other company takes a month plus to ship an order????

So if BrickLink is not willing to establish shipping rules for sellers (seem
to have all kinds of rules in place for buyers concerning payments) then at least
allow a buyer to be able to cancel a contract if seller has NOT shipped within
seven business days. Personally I think seven business days is too long but
it is a start.

Yes I understand that some sellers here are hobbyists and do not run a store
as a business but it is strange that most if not all hobbyists send out their
orders within seven business days.

I am not suggesting at this time that we punish any seller for failing to ship
within seven business days, I am just giving the buyer the right to cancel an
order/contract if the order is not shipped within seven business days of payment.

Sellers under this new rule would not be able to state in their terms that shipping
time is longer than seven business days.

Thanks

TheBrickStore

While I can agree with the main contents of this thread I thinkl this has the
potential to cause harm, particularly for the new buyers we are trying to get
here.
All it takes is a couple of succesful " sales " to scammers, as they will show
at the top of the page as cheapest item, and we get a lot of heat.

Just wanted to point out that you have replied to an 8 month old thread. In
the time since this thread was posted, Google has been allowed to crawl the site,
and BrickLink now shows up on the first page of results for a search of "Lego
10179". It takes you right to the catalog page, which is where I believe it
should take you.

Now they just have to do some optimizing to move BrickLink up the list a bit.

A lot of people have BL e-mails send automaticly to their inbox, and read the
message from there. Why would they read them again

Being harsh would result in NPB procedure and risk of negatve Feedback ( including
senseless work )

But that's how the system works, and if the buyer pays, why would he leave
negative over it and if he doesn't pay, completing the NPB will give you
the right to have any negative removed.
And you can invoice before picking the order

The automatic reminder for a Minute or 2 ( for example after logging in ) will
stop
excuses like "I didn't read email" !

Well, like I said above, some people read offline and execute their payment from
there, why add additional banners that will only confuse buyers more. If they
lack reading their messages, well they will also simply ignore other things to
read and it won't change a thing wether they pay or not, regardless wether
you send 1 or 10 reminders, if they decided not to pay, well then you move to
NPB, that's what it serves for and does give a red banner, simple as that.

It has nothing to do with NPB, the OP wants it BEFORE one opens an NPB, like
** all the time **.

And it has also nothing to do with buyers who might think they are special and
also nothing to do with new sellers. This has to do with a notification a buyer
has an unpaid order...

We don't need that, as the 'my bricklink' page overview already tells
you that
and if the buyer doesn't pay, then he'll get a red banner when he is
in NPB status, so no need for an extra banner BEFORE that.

Hello

Sorry for confusing you all !
My Intention has been completely misunderstood - what i wanted is !

After 1 week and lets say at least 2 reminders i want a less harsh method than
NPB !
It would be the last step before NPB procedure and not an immediate affect after
buying !

Hope this got clear now !

So like, automatic reminders instead of the seller manually sending the reminder?

Well, maybe, but totally pointless and an NPB is not harsh, it already serves
'alerting' the buyer he has an unpaid order

http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=72&q=npb

So no need for extra banners...

Besides, a lot of people have asked in the past to speed up the NPB process,
you actually wanna delay it some more

Still NO, the system works fine the way it is now.

And in the long run there will be no need either, as the site will need to move
towards an auto-payment on checkout, so whenever PP is involved as payment method,
there will be no more NPB's on those (might still be there for other payment
methods).

You did not read well what I wrote, I never said we don't need store rules.
And I didn't say that people should not read. What the OP is suggesting is
that once an order has been invoiced, a buyer gets a pop-up saying something
like (as such would be a real PITA IMHO)

No...

I'm a lazy buyer (but also a busy seller), usually pay fast (but sometimes
slow), sometimes wanna browse a store a second time(even if invoiced), so wouldn't
wanna see a stupid banner on my screen when I forget to pay.
As any seller you can send a reminder after a few days, I do the same and expect
the same from any seller before they open an NPB, no need for extra pressure,
particulary not on newbie buyers who are discovering the site.
Yes, the growth of the site involves more potential NPB's but I believe it
is still just a minority of situations.
As a matter of fact, since I slightly increased my minimum, I have less NPB's
then I had 2 years ago, most likely because there is more balance beteen ordervalue
and minimum shipping.

I just want to ask if its only me facing an increasing amount of members not

What about a popup window for NPBs in spe as a remlnder which comes before a
NPB procedure ?

Like "Hello 1 or more order(s) are still pending for payment " blinking all
around the Display !

Just my opinion !

i was just about to ask that question about collections and how you keep track

and Bricklink does. as i am slowly moving my collection to brick link.

Does Brickset allow you to add parts that you purchased from PAB walls? I used
to do that with Peeron, but that website hasn't been updated in years.

Thanks all. What's odd is that sometimes a color key word works fine! Hopefully
BrickLink 2.0 will fix this.

Hello, I've been searching for items based on the description listed in BrickLink
based on a list of previous searches I performed, but no results are being found!
For example, I search for "Metallic Gold Minifig, utensil Trophy Statuette"
and get nothing. However, if I search for part of the description (i.e. "Utensil
Trophy Statuette"), then I can usually find the items. I wish search was reliable
in searching for all words.

Also, some words that appear in the item description are not returning results
(i.e. I search for "Sand Red" and get nothing, but searching for "Gilderoy" shows
up with "Sand Red" in his description).

Finally, I'm getting used to your standard descriptions, but I think it would
help search if the items also used standard LEGO descriptions so we could cross-reference,
unless there was a legal reason you couldn't use LEGO descriptions.

Thanks,
Brian

If it's a boxed set pack it in an outer shipping box. Use sturdy boxes.

If it's parts put them inside a ziplock bag inside your bubble mailer, in

Those zip lock bags have saved a few of my orders
Highly recommended!

by the various companies including the USPS. I have had several bad experiences
myself with the USPS. Fortuneatly, most of the sellers have done an OUTSTANDING
job of properly packing my items and they have weathered the abuse. That being
said...simply wrapping the actual LEGO box in brown paper is inviting disaster
and bad feedback. If you plan on shipping the item this way PLEASE state that
on your terms and conditions or splash page. I, for one, am willing to pay
more if it ensures my new box doesn't show up completely crushed, like yesterday.
Thank you.

Your reply, while technically correct, does not tell the whole story. The searches
you picked were sufficient to key on the home page of BL. They were not specific
enough to actually find something of interest.

Do we really want the Google searches bringing people to the specific catalog
page for the item? I sure don't. I assume that those who want better Google
search results want to attract new customers (new to BL entirely, not just new
to their store.) Someone new to BL would be much better off at the main homepage
instead of a catalog page. That way they can explore the site from the main
starting point. I believe that would lead to a better intro-to-BL experience
and curb many frustrating experiences for both new buyers and sellers.

David

It would be best to direct them to the cat page of the items they are looking
for.

In other words, if someones trying to buy a 10179, then the search result should
direct them to that exact page. They can see all the listing for sale and decide
where to go next.

Although I'm not a seller I agree with what David says. I found Bricklink
through a search in 2011. I had just started digging out my old lego collection
and was looking for a dragon to replace the one that I used to have. My search
(google, bing yahoo, i don't remember what engine I used) directed me to
a specific store. For a while I never even realized that there was a whole community
of many many stores. I just assumed the website I came across was someone's
individual store. Only at my second or third visit to that store I clicked the
bricklink logo on the top, was taken to the home page and realized what I had
missed before.

I did this as well with TBB...had no idea there were other stores for my first
sale.

To do that legally meaning actually putting $25.00 worth Lego to match the value
in each package and sending registered mail would of cost me $372.00.

Now he emails me and tells me I should split the diffrence of the tax with
him and he wants $100.00. I still have no product. It is clearly stated on my

In my opinion it is BrickLinks because they refuse to do anything about it.
But it falls back on the seller.
It would be easy for BrickLink to get involved. Send Admin a copy of the email
or refer the Bricklink message. Bricklink could tell the buyer that it is not
acceptable to do this and if there are more incidents they will be removed as
a buyer. Simple and easy, supports the honest sellers, supports honest buyers,
does not support dishonest buyers. This can affect BrickLink as much as NPB
or NSS. If BrickLink can take action there they could take action on this problem
if they wanted to.

This suggestion is a summary of my recommendations, plus input from others' many
private messages I received on this over the last few days that I would like
Admin to consider in the site upgrade.

BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION:-

The BrickLink site has always required its' members, both buyers and sellers,
to trade legally and fairly. This is an essential aspect of the site's reputation
which makes it an attractive venue for buyers and sellers to trade here with
confidence and safety. The continued success of the site and enjoyment of it
experienced by its' members both depend heavilly on this being maintained.

The site continues to grow rapidly and welcomes many mew members, both buyers
and sellers every day. The financial success of the site has indeed secured its'
future beyond the loss of its' inspired founder. In the early days, this site
was a small community and the founder members and early adopters clearly did
a great job in building the principles of the site and policing it in a self-regulatory
way. For the most part this still works today but, as is demonstrated in the
many threads recently, some (buyers and sellers) are falling short of those principles
and indeed the law! This may be driven by the vast increase in membership which
makes this place less "personal" for some and combined with this; the laws and
regulations covering internet trading become more and more complex as governments
focus on the explosion of such trading and their need to close tax loopholes
and try to protect their consumers from substandard trading and scams.

I believe the site and ALL its' members (except for any that come here to do
unfair or illegal trading) will benefit from a more developed policy on safe
and legal trading for both their own protection and for the reputation of the
site in general which should help promote its' continued growth and success.

The following suggestions are simply my thougths on "how" some of the issues
might be addressed taking into account the direct input I have had from several
other members as well as many forum threads over the years but some recent ones
in particular:-

SUGGESTION #1 - EXPAND ON THIS IN TOS:-

TOS #11 REQUIRES the following.

"General Compliance with Laws:
You shall comply with all applicable laws, statutes, ordinances and regulations
regarding your use of our service and your listing, purchase and sale of items."

Whilst this "covers" the site in demonstrating to authorities its' intent not
to encourage illegal behaviour, in practice it does little or nothing to:

1. Help inform its' members about what those laws might be and where to find
out about them. Many of the problems here (for buyers and sellers) are caused
by a complete lack of knowledge on the relevent laws.

2. Provides no penalty for breaking them which unfortunately is the reason why
some of the intentional law breakers are comming here.

I suggest changing the TOS #11 to spell out some of the specific laws that members
need to comply with, namely:

Customs - sellers are required to complete customs documents as required by law
honestly and accurately which, for the purpose of selling here, means declaring
the sales value of the goods as stated on the invoice and NOT misprepresenting
commercial sales as gifts.

Compliance with local advertising, selling and consumer protection laws - sellers
are required to comply with all relevent laws applicable to their selling activities.

Taxation - prior to listing any items for sale, sellers are advised to check
the rules in their country relating to any taxation they may need to charge their
customers (e.g. sales tax, VAT as applicable) and any requirements to declare
to their tax authorities any sales activity they conduct on this site.

SUGGESTION #2 - MAKE CUSTOMS FRAUD A REPORTABLE OFFENCE:-

Just as we can report listings that do not comply with the TOS, have a similar
funtion where:

1. Sellers can report (with evidence e.g. private message) to Admin that a buyer
requested a fraudulent customs declaration.

2. Buyers can report (with evidence e.g. private message or something in sellers'
terms) that a seller is offering a fraudulent customs declaration.

3. If a penalty is given, just like an NPB or NSS, a buyer or seller can have
feedback removed if it was given in relation to a transaction subject to the
penalty.

4. A buyer or seller has the right to cancel an order without penalty if subject
to a validated request for customs fraud.

Validated reports would result in a penalty ranging from 1st warning, through
temporary suspension of buying or selling rights, to membership termination for
repeat offenders.

SUGGESTION #3 - HAVE A HELP GUIDE ON SAFETY AND THE LAW

Which members have to declare they have read before they can buy or sell on the
site.

Unlike eBay which has legal resources in many of its' markets, BL has a central
Administration which cannot be expected to be expert on these matter in all geographies.

Perhaps we cound have voluntary "country Admins" for this purpose who would be
responsible for maintaining content with an opening statement relevent to their
market and a number of (official government only) links to any laws relating
to internet buying and selling in their country and the official taxation and
customs sites for their country. This must have a legal disclaimer saying these
Admins and the site are not giving legal advice and it is the ultimate responsibility
of the individual member to ensure he/she complies with all applicable laws.

SUGGESTION #4 - HAVE SOME FUNCTION TO PROMPT BUYERS WHEN BUYING INTERNATIONALLY
-

When you put something in a cart of a store not in your country, you are prompted
to look at a page that says something like:-

"You are about to purchase from a store located outside of your country, you
are advised to check if you may be liable for any customs charges relating to
importing this item into your country WHICH ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY before committing
to this purchase. Purchasing from overseas may also limit your rights as a buyer."

Obviously, this needs some more thought! I would not want this message for EVERY
item I put in a store cart, maybe just the 1st one for example. Maybe give an
option "do not show this message again" after a couple of hits on it within a
certain time period.

SUMMING IT UP FOR ME:-

None of this changes anything that is not the intent of the current TOS.

It is not to differentiate between "private" or "business" sellers for any purpose
of promoting one above the other, although for UK at least and many EU countries,
Gareth's suggestion on that would help keep sellers on the right side of the
law so I still support that too. There does seem to be some differences of definition
on that between countries which would need to be addressed further.

This is intended to HELP buyers and sellers comply with their laws and avoid
some of the risks many are taking now through ignorance of them. Being reported
for falling foul of a law or being caught not complying with it in most cases
carries penalties that most people would be pleased to avoid if given a chance
and informing them better simply helps to avoid that possibility

I would be happy to do more work on this if required as I am passionate about
keeping this a safe, respected place with trading standards that we can ALL be
proud of and enjoy.

CONGRATUALTIONS YOU GOT TO THE END OF THIS POST -

Thank you very much for your time!

Robert

Very good and it is something admin should read and think about. BrickLink needs
more active involvement in making requests to do something illegal not proper.
Now they just leave it up to the seller and close their eyes about any suggestion
to make this needed improvement.

of promoting one above the other, although for UK at least and many EU countries,
Gareth's suggestion on that would help keep sellers on the right side of the
law so I still support that too.

Very nicely stated Robert. I appreciate your attention to detail in addressing
several annoying issues that continue to pop up and cause problems for sellers
and buyers alike. As this community continues to grow, it's issues with taxing
authorities will grow as well. It is wise that we continue to bring up and address
these issues before they come back to "byte" us (pun intended). Thanks again.

Very succinct, I read it all with great interest.

You have provided a valuable source document there Robert.

If we can now persuade everyone to live up to it...

In Terms and Policies, Rob_and_Shelagh writes:

Great read, mostly agree, only the "you are now ordering from someone overseas"
popup message needs a bit more tinkering

Thanks Maxx,

That does reflect that I live on an island doesn't it

Yep, agree this was not meant to be a completed solution, just the basis of an
idea that might help avoid the problem for the inexperienced without hurtng the
experts.
