57560pb01 is listed in the catalogue with a base colour either as "Trans Light-Blue" or "Glow in the dark opaque" Looking at pictures of 8539 I am fairly certain that "Trans Light-Blue" is an error of original submitter.
See https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/bionicle/images/c/c3/Nocturn.png/revision/latest?cb=20130727013741
Too ease up on inventories I guess "Glow in dark opaque" could be listed as alternate item

Is the part Glow in the Dark Opaque with marbled Trans-Light Blue, or is it Trans-Light
Blue with marbled Glow in the Dark Opaque? We need to decide one way or the other
for these parts. It's not good for the listings to be split.

In my opinion the feature of the bypass password is to allow a seller some buyers
(selected and approved by the seller) to place an order although they don't
meet store terms. Since every store has its own reasons for having certain terms,
I don't think it is a good idea to just disable all the configurable store
terms. Sellers use these to set up a store that is manageable in their environment
(private life, other job, easy access to shipping, etc).
However, I DO think a lot of sellers are not fully aware of the consequences
of their store settings, resulting in the lower sales and/or frustrated buyers.
As a buyer I think it is always possible (if seller allows contact) to ask for
a bypass password if an order doesn't comply with store terms.

Okay, I've checked every single set in which 3626cpx302 appears by set photos
and PCCs in instructions. The head is wrongly inventoried in 8 minifigures and
this is a result of the combination of two factors: (a) the poor-quality photo
for 3626cpx302 and (b) the incorrect assignment of a PCC to that part (and, of
course, inattention).
This head came in sets from 2012-2014 and had the PCC 4259916 (except in one
set, 850839, for which the PCC was 6044001):
There was a break in 2015, then this head appeared in sets from 2016-2018 and
had the PCC 6100217:
The heads don't really look that similar upon reasonably close examination
(see attached photos).
Since you first discovered this error, I invite you to submit the changes because
you deserve the credit. If you'd prefer me to make the changes directly,
then please let me know. The following changes need to be made:
First, this head needs to be inventoried in each of these figures:
[M=cty748]
[M=cty641]
[M=cty616]
[M=cty644]
[M=cty830]
[M=cty836]
Second, the PCC 6100217 needs to be removed from this head:
and applied to this head:
Finally, the photo for this head:
needs to be replaced with this photo:
I don't want to over-apologize, but I really did treat your requests poorly
and I hope you will resubmit them.
I'd like to publicly thank Russell for learning me how to do LEGO investigations
like this one. I also thank axaday for submitting the correct head to the catalog
(two years after it was first released!).

Okay, I rechecked the set instructions to verify and TLG definitely uses the
PCC 6100217 for the reddish brown color lined head (which is what led me astray
in the first place with this figure).
It is possible that it was never used for the black lined head . . . someone
will need to go back and check through the instructions for the sets in which
the two versions of the head appears to make sure.

But it's only enforced for that shipping method. It's not like the

out via manual invoicing.

You can with the new instant checkout shipping settings.
| I don't mind small orders ($2+) in the USA, but international orders are
such a pain that I dread anything under $40. Now the customs forms are a minor
hassle, but buyers often don't understand English well, are annoyed at me
over the sky-high USPS rates (as if I can change them), and if I make a mistake
and have to ship a missing part, it costs a fortune.
I don't want to shut off international sales altogether because international
resellers place orders I love. But orders where the postage costs more than
the parts just aren't worth it.

I know someone who got scammed, once, in a way that tracking probably wouldn't
prevent. It was for a set, and I suspect those are more likely to be targeted
by scam buyers because they're easier to flip afterwards. I heard someone
ask advice on whether to sell sets or parts at an AFOL event, and the response
was that parts are more profitable, but sets will always sell. Now, I just peeked
in both of your stores, and while you have a much higher part to set ratio, his
sets are only about half a case of CMFs from a couple years ago. I didn't
browse his parts, but the account is only two years old, and the store has only
34 sales. Either this seller has actually been hit with a scam already, or it's
just a case of being new-seller cautious.

Going on a limb here, but I suspect most sellers that have access to IBAN will
prefer that. It saves them the PayPal fee, and the buyer is left with zero buyers
protection.
Since it is a direct-to-an-account transfer, no VISA, MASTERCARD or any other
credit card protection will help either.
While a seller should be able to choose payment options, PayPal should always
be one of them.

well the problem with Paypal is also its Buyer Protection, its way to easy to
abuse...
1/ place order
2/ choose non-tracable shipping
3/ recieve goods
4/ claim goods was never shipped
if there was a way on bricklink to automatically choose shipping based on payment
method it wouyld be great. I dont mind being paid via Paypal but you´ll have
to pay the €20 tracing fee on top of that €10 shipping...
|
It's not buyer protection that is being abused, exactly.
Under many countries laws (and international trade laws) a seller is responsible
for ensuring goods get to the buyer.
It makes no difference if a buyer opts for insurance, they are entitled to replacement
goods or a refund if something goes missing or is damaged in transit.
I never send anything that costs more than the postage without using insured
and signed-for services; only ever had one item damaged but it was over £600,
refunded by the carrier..
To be safe, allow for tracking & insurance in your shipping costs if you don't
want to bear the risk.
ps. There is no way I would use an international bank payment for a small purchase,
as the fees from the UK to somewhere using a different current are extortionate.
|
Read the post you replied to again - tracking is too expensive. BrickSwede was
saying he wants either PayPal+tracking or neither, because of a risk of false
accusation. In practise, this would usually boil down to neither, since tracking
usually adds some €10 to the shipping cost.
However, I ship without tracking all the time and accept PayPal payments. In
reality it's really no big deal. I've never once had a malicious buyer.

I also just built this set and made a change note at Rebrickable. My set had

The red swoosh stickers on the 7877-1 sticker sheet are not accounted for in the counterparts section of the set inventory.

The stickers are applied differently for this set and, therefore, I cannot approve
these requests. The attached photos show first set 7877 and then set 75092.
You can see that the hook on the swoosh faces different directions.
The new stickered counterparts need to be added to the catalog first if you want
to add them to this set.

The idea of quickly knowing the seller's feedback while shopping the part,
may have some merit, I'm undecided on that. But anything less than 100% in
the warning color of red, I don't feel is right. I know so many fantastic
BL sellers with less than 100% that I've spent large sums of money with over
the years, it just wouldn't be fair to them. In fact, I'm of the crowd
(very small crowd ) that feel that too much emphasis is put on a member's
feedback rating.
But keep the ideas coming. There's always way to better the site.

I don't really have to worry about that, since anyone who wants US buyers
pretty much has to offer Paypal. But what I miss now is the feature that I very
briefly was able to enjoy, where I could search by stores that accepted _regular_
Paypal. The last time I tried to use that, all I could select was "Instant Checkout",
which just compounds the problem of Onsite Paypal. I don't load Bricklink
on the computer I use to do financial stuff, and I don't do financial stuff
on the various devices I use to shop Bricklink. Kinda hard to make either of
those work under those circumstances.

As already said, it’s not a zone problem, it’s a currency problem.
If you (as a seller) make a list of EUR using countries, you’ll block UK (for
instance) buyers with a bank account in Euro who wouldn’t have any problem with
SEPA bank transfers.
On the other hand, if you make a list of SEPA countries (so including UK), you’ll
bother buyers (like yorbrick) who can’t or don’t want to make bank transfers
in EUR.
What you want is a “buyer can/wish to pay in EUR inside SEPA” which is different
from “buyer is in a SEPA country.”
Anyway I don’t very much like the “I want to block buyers who could pay the way

|
I dont mind being paid via Paypal but you´ll have
to pay the €20 tracing fee on top of that €10 shipping...

it is verry simple , UK citizens voted for the Brex-it not the EU citizens .
I have recived sepa/bank payments from Denmark , USA , china , Hongkong it take
max 2 days to arive . all buyers told me that the fee is a lot lower than the
paypal fee . if a buyer don`t will buy from a EU store who don`t like to sell

This has nothing to do with Brexit. The UK was never part of the Eurozone, it
never adopted the Euro. We are currently still part of the EU. If a seller says
that paypal is not allowed for buyers from EU countries, then it applies to me
and other UK buyers, and buyers from Denmark, Sweden, etc, who are also not part
of the Eurozone but are in the EU.
But yes, it is simple to move on to another store (after least favouriting the
ones that will only take bank transfer). Of course, once we leave the EU, those
stores will still be on my least favourites list and unlikely to come off even
if I can then use PayPal with them again.

Can we use short names for the payment method. Currently for example Stripe
is displayed as "Credit/Debit (Powered by Stripe)". Can it simply be called "Stripe".
It would be even better if we had to option to display the micro tag number,
example
27 = PayPal Onsite
26 = Stripe

The status is still open.
But I still agree with that suggestion! I don't see any reason to pay PayPal
fee when bank transfer is very easy and fast within EU (SEPA, IBAN). Buyers from
EU choose mostly PayPal but are willing to switch to bank transfer when I ask
them. So it's not a general problem.

I for one would not want to write off such a large proportion of my customers.

Dutch sellers already don't allow PayPal for domestic transactions and that
makes total sense. If some wish to scale that up to EU level, I don't see
any reason why they shouldn't be able to do that.
Either way, maybe you're just posting out of curiosity, then this discussion
makes sense of course. But ultimately, it is not necessary for you to understand
the reason in order to be OK with it (or even support it). If I want to eat ice-cream
only on mondays, I can do so even though the reasons don't make sense to
other people. The way I see it, this is a suggestion that increases Bricklink
functionality, and it is clear that some people want to use it, so let's
do it.
Random goof: "5.4 PayPal and your customers. In representations or in public
communications to your customers, you shall not mischaracterise or disparage
PayPal as a payment method." So, if you want a seller's PayPal account to
be terminated, ask them to confirm a negative aspect on PayPal - either answer
will be a breach of the agreement

| You are describing it as some kind of apocalyptic scenario when in fact it is
the normal way of doing business Companies worldwide use different prices,
conditions, product ranges for different markets that they target - or refuse
to target. There are good and bad sides to that, but the reality is that they
can do this freely. It's not like you can only sign up to become a seller
on Bricklink if you vow to cater the entire world.
In fact, a shop is allowed to refuse you, personally. I have been blocked by
one of this countries major websites, Bol.com, for ordering too much that was
on offer, even though other people were allowed to buy that. I made a call to
this government consumer rights helpdesk and they told me this is in fact allowed,
and that it only is discrimination when a seller will categorically refuse a
group of people based on ethnicity or religion.
Maybe there are grey areas or slipperly slopes, but when it comes to country-based
policies, it is understood that the considerations are practical/financial and
not personal discrimination of individuals. Although there are also sellers on
Bricklink who choose to boycot certain countries.
In Suggestions, Murky writes:
| I wonder,
If sellers should be allowed to exclude buyers base solely based of their country,
should we next exclude people based on religious affiliation, what bank they
use, gender or sexual preference?
There is no "forcing" of course, a buyer can simply go elsewhere.
But it forcing in the sense that if I wish to buy from the given store, I am
restricted to a certain payment type. A restriction I would not have if I lived
elsewhere.
It is ridiculous of course, that my "next" examples will ever happen.
But if the discussion turns to "principles", then there is no difference between
restrictions made on location compared to the other restrictions.
And there are more payment options than PayPal of course, so allowing that (but
not X and Y) also technically "restricts" I suppose, but it is silly to argue
that "everything" should be allowed, no one is really claiming that. The argument
is that saying that certain countries will not have the same options as everyone
is wrong. PayPal should always be allowed.
BL's "only" restriction is the age limit of 18. But this is a legal exception
which we must have for things to work.
And yes, I know of course that some stores only sell to some countries, but that
is not really a part of the issue here.
IBAN is quite good for the sellers of course, but it is a demerit to the buyers.
If we are to give up all buyer protection, then at least we should get something
in return.
Oh, and a transfer from one account to another - unless it is very large - will
initially avoid any taxation system and accounting out there. There is no bill
sent to the buyer per se, so the bank will have no information that the money
transferred is in relations to invoice this and that.
A seller can thus relatively easy hide the money transferred from accounting
and thus taxation purposes.
Now I am not saying that our esteemed BL seller will do such things, but why
create a tool and option for the ones that do fall prey to the temptation of
avoiding taxes (if only a wee bit)?
If we allow restrictions on payment, shipping, insurance, what bricks can be
bought etc. made on location (more than we already do), I fear we are opening
a hornets nest, and the buyers will pay the price for it. (And in the end of
course, it will affect the sellers).

The status is still open.
But I still agree with that suggestion! I don't see any reason to pay PayPal

EU choose mostly PayPal but are willing to switch to bank transfer when I ask
them. So it's not a general problem.

Paypal allows order process on the spot, while IBAN could take a few days and
is affected by public holidays. This would require just a rough fee of 5%. Usually
it is worth all the money.
Disabling Paypal for EU members will get you less people willing to place an
order. Also Paypal protects buyers. Getting refund for IBAN, in case of any
troubles with a seller (not shipping, not respondint, etc), is a nightmare. Usually
myself, as buyer, IBAN is treated as a higher risk due to that. This will also
cause orders to be processed slower as you need some time (days) before you can
confirm you've received a payment. From buyer point of view, sometimes, it
is essential to get bricks ASAP. This will no longer be possible with IBAN-only
option.
So please go ahead if you don't need buyers money.

| There is definitely room for a lot of improvements. Much of the site is plagued
with "developer UI". Things work (mostly) but it's all very inefficient to
use and far from practical. This is usually the result of the developers not
actually using what they make. I have seen this in other fields of software development
also.
BL management overall seem very disinterested in improving things. New half baked
stuff is being added and then mostly left like that. IC, as an example, still
needs many fixes and improvements but no sign from BL that they will address
the problems.
|
No responses yet? I find it a small but crucial point. Even just now I was staring
at my list of received orders for 10 sec to make sure that there is nothing I
need to do for an order in the list that I overlooked. Things used to be much
clearer before instant checkout. Just spot anything "pending" and "updated",
sort it, put it on ready. Instead of checking out which "ready"-order really
is ready and requires action from the buyers side and, and which "ready" order
isn't actually ready and requires me to sort it.

| BL could definitely use some more features when it comes to picking orders. I
have written some in-house stuff that helps us with this.
- When picking an item for an order, you can click on the item to indicate this
lot was picked. The system keeps track of how far in you are by showing a "percentage
complete" on our orders overview, as shown in the first pic. Note that this info
is stored in a local database (per order item, and per order), so you can take
a break and pick up where you have left, even on a different computer.
- The second pic shows part of the screen while picking an order. At the top
right the page always shows the nr of lots in the order, the nr of lots not picked
yet (white), the lots picked (green), lots with an issue (red), and lots verified
during packing for shipping (blue). The "back" is to force a reload of the orders
page (a click on the browser's back button would show a not-updated order
list again), and "up" / "down" goes to the next / previous order in the list.
- When you click on the item picture, a popup comes up that shows some details
about the lot. Here you can add a comment to a lot which will show at the bottom
of the order page.
- When you click on the "Inventory" button in that popup, another popup shows
the sales and inventory for that part for all colors we have or sold. This way,
when picking an item, we can easily check (and correct) the inventory for all
colors.
- It also shows a "diff" for each part/color that will show all the inventory
changes for that item in a separate browser window. the "PG" link opens a price
guide for that item.
There are several other features in these order pages that I won't go into,
but above features have made our shop run so much better.
This is not something we can easily give to other shops to use, as it uses a
local database and a host of tools and programming languages, all tied to our
local infran and hosted on two Linux servers. For BL to implement this, it would
require some more info to be stored for each order item ("status", and "comment")
and each order. But it shows this can be done.
If BL wants to have a chat with me to see if/how they can improve these tools,
by all means, I am available.
Niek.

I wish that either option of these would be implemented:
1. Do not auto change the status of orders to "ready" when instant checkout is
being used. Let sellers use this to indicate the order really IS ready. All received
orders are always "pending". (And while we're at it, better yet: Do not send
invoices automatically. The majority of webstores I know do not do this. BO also
does not do this. Please let me make my invoices manually. The ones Bricklink
generates are a redundant mix of payment instruction and order confirmation,
both of which already exist)
2. Add a check or other object to indicate SORT and SORTED. How about a red square
meaning SORT that appears by default when the order is placed (paid or not paid),
green when you tap it once meaning SORTED, and orange when tapped again meaning
DO NOT SORT for whatever reason.
I am aware you can split payment and order status. However, my screen is already
too wide as it is, and it involves alot more clicking. Also, I do not want another

administration about their tasks.

Okay, so the open-hitch end with red wheels first appears in 1984 (that year,
of course, was also the title of an exceptional novel about totalitarianism (I
had to google that word to see how to spell it correctly, although I'm quite
familiar with the concept) which is, unfortunately (considering some interpretations
of the state of affairs in the modern world) not read often enough or, perhaps,
not well-enough understood) and doesn't appear again until 1987. This leads
one (me, in this case) to wonder if the 1984 appearance could be in error.
This set is the 1984 set in question. There are two box versions that I found
and both unquestionably show the closed hitch. Ergo, the 1984 appearance of
the open hitch is in error and that error will now be corrected pending possible
objections. See photos (note the different configurations of the parts lists
on the set boxes - these are the two different set boxes).
By the way, after looking at all versions of this part with an open hitch,
I'd be willing to bet the first appearance in any set was 1987.

I am reminded here of a beloved verse from 1st Hibiscusians

I have been known to on occasion imbibe a tall glass of plum ginger hibiscus

I am reminded here of a beloved verse from 1st Hibiscusians, Chapter 24, Verse 04:
"For how shalt thy 2 X 6 Windmill brick fit comfortably upon thy 2 X 6 blue brick and yet more brick doth protrude from the end in the set photo? Nay, verily, it is all the vanity of inventorying from a small set photo."
