| My customers always seem to have trouble following the process of approving an
item removal request therefore can these steps not be simplified?
A buyer has asked me to reduce the quantities they have ordered on a couple of
items from their order and whilst I have no issue submitting the request they
always seem to struggle to approve it despite me spending lots of extra time
trying to explain and direct them to 'MY BL' and then 'MY ACTIVITY'
to locate and approve the request
Does it even really need the customer to approve the change? If so why?
If this is required it really needs to be much, much easier for the customer
to do as the last thing I want is to frustrate my customer unduly before we've
even started especially since they actually originally asked me to cancel the
whole order so they could re-order what they needed (They asked me this twice
already!) but since it was only a couple of small adjustments I suggested against
this on the basis that cancelled orders make things messy and are not an ideal
look for a seller (Potential fee avoidance attempts from BL's point of view!)
any other sellers experience similar problems?

Author: | infinibrix | Posted: | Jan 25, 2024 04:24 | Subject: | Dupe Accounts to push Variant Merge Argument? | Viewed: | 331 times | Topic: | General
| I hope the admins are taking note only there are people here like myself that
have always followed the rules despite wanting and being denied a second account
for legitimate reasons (separate business from personal) and yet there are clearly
members here using second accounts to strengthen the voice of their own opinion
in the forum?
How is it possible that so many replies against the variant merge are from people
with barely any feedback yet they still appear to have the highest/most complex
level of understanding when it comes to variants?
Yes perhaps one or two of these never buy or sell and only use Bricklink as a
database reference in which case are they the best voices to be listening to
anyway given they don’t actually contribute to the core element of the site which
is to buy and sell Lego!
But let’s be honest having an opinion is one thing but using a second account
to voice that same opinion again is unhelpful spamming and so I hope admins will
investigate and merge these accounts!
Ultimately as far as peoples opinions go in general I understand the arguments
on both sides and to a degree sympathies but generally a lot of these arguments
seem to be along the lines that the merge is a bad idea because people will no
longer be able to easily distinguish the correct variant? Yet this appears to
be the exact intention, since Bricklink has already openly stated that they do
not particularly want members of its community (New or Old) being overly bogged
down and concerned with these variants. They essentially want them dismissed/forgotten
about! (Pretty much their own words)
With this in mind it really isn’t in Bricklinks best interest to put in place
any specific solution that only further prevents them breaking away from what
they are trying to break away from? Therefore in the end it can only be for individual
members who care about this stuff to either use the comments field or ask the
question!
The way I see it, this change is probably going to hinder maybe 1% of the community
whilst making things smoother and more efficient for 99% of the community. It’s
a no brainer from Bricklinks perspective!

Author: | infinibrix | Posted: | Jan 11, 2024 06:24 | Subject: | BricklinkV - for Vintage Parts? | Viewed: | 213 times | Topic: | General
| Has Bricklink ever considered having a sister site dedicated to vintage parts.
I know Lego is ever evolving and molds, parts, colours can be discontinued at
any time but maybe it’s a place dedicated to getting parts pre a specific era
where there has been substantial changes such as the place to get old brown and
grey colours perhaps? Pre mid 90’s parts or whatever?
It’s probably a dead in the water idea as I appreciate bricklink and most users
here will probably just want a one stop place for all their Lego needs but maybe
instead just a really scaled down vintage site for all those nerdy types that
want their variants along with those relevant parts of the catalog to remain
intact. Obviously people will still have to use the main site to buy the vast
majority of their Lego so really just a place for the hardcore vintage guys
That’s not me by the way, but with so many appearing to be concerned about some
of the upcoming changes and variant merges I’m just throwing ideas around and
causing trouble!

| I only ask this as the original Ghostbusters minifigs had their ID’s switched
from idea to gb (seems a sensible approach) but then why not the same for various
other minifigs where dedicated Theme I.D’s already exist such as TV Friends,
Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings and even basic themes like castle and pirates.
Drives me crazy not having them located under the same I.D format

| I understand the reasons for wanting to try and separate mini doll hair from
standard minifig hair but with so many crossovers particularly with the increasing
number of Male dolls using standard minifig hair I think this method starts to
become unviable. For instance both these hair pieces are under Doll Hair when
they are both equally suitable for standard minifigs and so how is the correct
category for them being determined?
My suggestion would be to consider removing the 'Doll Hair' category
and replacing it with a category called 'Hair with Pin Hole' as that
way you still get to separate a good portion of the doll hair from standard hair
whilst giving some much needed clarity. Obviously it will mean some traditional
minifig hair such as Leia/Queen ending up among the doll pin hole hair but I
think its a small price to pay given it will enable more clarity as to where
a hair design belongs and where to look

| Until we have a working tag system it would be helpful if minifigure descriptions
also included the species so that they can be located and identified in one place
using this search criteria alone
For instance many people will know this is a Wookiee, yet how many people will
know the name let alone how to spell it correctly?
I therefore think we should always try to include the species in brackets
Wullffwarro (Wookiee)
Chief Tarfful (Wookiee)
Wald (Rodian)
Onaconda Farr (Rodian)
Captain Tarpals (Gungan)
Thranduil (Elf)
Haldir (Elf)
Dain Ironfoot (Dwarf)
Lurtz (Uruk-Hai)
Yazneg (Orc)
Besides we already appear to have done this for certain species like Ewoks:-

| Can I suggest some description improvements for hoods. Right now we have them
differentiated with non-descriptive wording like basic and smooth
Firstly it might be beneficial to name these types of hood a Cloaked Hood as
they are primarily used in conjunction with capes and/or have a medieval robe
type look about them:-
To differentiate further I would add the wording 'Open Neck' and 'Closed
Neck' respectively though there is this one already in the catalog using
the term 'Open Front':-
This also works fine but then would a 'Closed Front' hood cause some
confusion compared to Closed Neck' but will leave catalog team to decide?
On the other hand these modern type hoods are better described from adding the
word Hoodie as they are primarily intended to represent a modern style hood attached
to a fleece/jacket:-

| The current description used for differentiating these two generic bandanas is
very ambiguous with the most obvious difference being the single and double tail
ends which I believe would benefit from being mentioned:-
[p=2543]
Therefore can I suggest naming them Single and Double Tail End respectively.
I know the single tail end is essentially two tail ends merged together in the
mold design but I don't think this really matters but if this is a problem
you could instead use the term merged tail end and split tail end or something
to that effect?

| Did any other UK sellers receive a letter from HMRC a few months back and are
you intending to register in order to continue the importing/exporting of goods?
After reading that I may need software in order to do the declarations myself
or use a broker to do it on my behalf its all sounding a bit too complicated
for just sending a few Lego orders overseas!
It seems the deadline of 31st march for registering for CDS has been extended
to November but after that point I think I will just be doing away with all international
trading!

| A buyer just recently claimed their £20 order with us didn’t arrive and so before
refunding them I did what I always do which is search my inbox for their username
to see if there have been any previous communications with the buyer?
It turns out that they previously placed just one other order with us to value
of £30 a year ago which at the time they claimed also didn’t arrive therefore
2 out of 2 orders not arriving is already very suspicious!?
With this in mind I contacted around a dozen sellers that had also recently sold
to the buyer asking if they wouldn’t mind sharing how their own recent transaction
with the buyer went and most didn’t have any problems with the buyer as tracking
was used but of the four sellers I spoke to that only used standard service it
appear 2 out of 4 of those transaction the buyer claimed didn’t arrive but not
only that but they just so happened to be the higher value orders too at £45
and £50. The other two were valued at around £10 with those sellers reporting
no issues!
Bearing in mind I had only contacted sellers going back a few months to November
and the fact that I can only contact sellers who I can see have left feedback
(Many sellers don’t even leave feedback for retaliation reasons) I didn’t have
much hesitation when it came to blocking the buyer from my store after issuing
their refund!
The question is shouldn’t more of us attempt to contact other sellers to build
up a better picture of a buyers activities? Because when we refund a buyer without
question only us and the buyer know exactly what occurred and presumably we then
just leave positive feedback for one another on the basis that lost packages
can sometimes occur!
However at the same time when sellers refund a buyer for lost package I think
Bricklink ought to be keeping a record of how frequently sellers are refunding
a buyer for lost package claims?
The frustrating thing is when I went to refund the buyer I had to choose the
reason for the refund but there is no “Lost in post” option and so I had to select
“Item Missing or Incorrect” which sounds like I’m refunding because of my
own incompetence to get the order right which is not what occurred?
The other issue I have is that despite having already refunded the buyer with
them appearing seemingly happy with the resolution! What if they later notice
I've blocked them and take offence at that and choose to leave negative feedback
out of frustration?

| I mainly sell parts and minifigures as they are easier for me to manage and process
orders on a daily basis quickly and efficiently however at certain times of the
year I would like to be able to sell sealed sets but since they are more cumbersome
and often require a different degree of care/time in terms of packing/shipping
organisation I would like to be able to choose to stockroom all my sets at the
click of a button and at any given moment therefore is there an option to do
this and if not am I the only person who would find this useful?
Perhaps others would be opposite and prefer certain periods to only sell sets
and be able to stockroom all their parts when they are too busy to process those
kinds of orders?
In truth since people use stockroom feature for other purposes stockrooming all
their items on/off in any given category may mess things up for them so maybe
it just needs an additional hide feature where you can basically hide all sets
from store, hide all parts from store or hide all minifigures from store depending
on what types of items you don't want to be processing/selling at any give
time

| I need to refund one of my customers due to an item not arriving which is presumed
lost in post but when I go to refund there is no relevant option for this?
I’m forced to choose one of the following unrelated reasons for refunding:-
Buyer and seller agree to cancel order/items
Seller cannot complete transaction
Item was missing or unsatisfactory
Overcharged shipping
Buyer paid incorrect amount
Ideally there should be an option ‘Item presumed lost in post’ and if Bricklink
isn’t already maybe consider keeping this data on users to help look for patterns
when deciding outcomes for other issues. For instance if a buyer is regularly
receiving refunds for items they claim haven’t arrived then I think Bricklink
needs to be aware of this. Likewise if a seller is regularly having to issue
refunds it may be an indication that they are not very reliable for one reason
or another...

Author: | infinibrix | Posted: | Feb 12, 2022 06:07 | Subject: | Feedback Proposal Idea | Viewed: | 168 times | Topic: | Suggestions | Status: | Open | Vote: | [Yes|No]
| With all the recent talk about when to leave feedback and concerns of retaliation
feedback for leaving honest feedback the best way I see to remedy that would
be to have a system where the buyer or seller can leave feedback at any time
but it won’t actually display the feedback for anyone to see until either:-
Both parties have left feedback for each other whereby the feedback is then revealed
at the same time!
Or if only one party leaves feedback the timescale for leaving feedback will
eventually expire revealing what has been left with no further opportunity for
retaliation!
At least that way both buyers and sellers can be confident of being able to share
their honest experience without the fear of jeopardising their own account for
doing so!
