| Hello,
today something very bad happened.
An user made me an order, paid, and I shipped it.
Out of 233 parts, he declared that 1 was incorrect and 5 missing.
I went on my shop to see if I could reship the missing/wrong items but to my
surprise, none of them were available.
I don't want problems, so for a few bucks, I refunded those parts.
Probably, this buyer saw me weak because he then became demanding.
- I'm not happy with the refund. Either you send me half the shipping price
as a compensation, or I will cancel the entire order and ship it back on your
behalf.
Once noted that PayPal states that though he's entitled to, it's on HIS
behalf it became.
- No it's on your behalf. If before I said that I was ok with half shipping
price, now it's full shipping price, or I will cancel the order and open
a claim as "not as described".
I remarked that the parts not as described were refunded, but he said that he
was not needing the order as a whole.
I then went on his feedback profile and see that he already tried this trick
before. A seller paid him to ship the order back, and he never did.
Can we do something in these cases, or are we totally powerless?
I'm not speaking about the PayPal claim, I know I will win it.
But is there a way to defend ourselves from this kind of users?
|
Leave a note in feedback: Claims X parts missing, refund issued, buyer demanded
half off shipping. BEWARE!
I think this fits.
|
I will surely leave a bad feedback, but I am sure I will get one back in return...

When was it received?
You've a proof of reception (but of course he received because he complains,
but for PayPal)?
|
Yes I have.
|
Order total + shipping price?
Refunded parts price?
Qty of parts refunded // total parts?
|
2€ on over 100€ because they were just 6 parts over 226.
| You did well refunding what was said damaged/missing.
|
Thanks
|
| I'm not speaking about the PayPal claim, I know I will win it.

Then simply ignore?
|
I can't for how I'm done.
|
| But is there a way to defend ourselves from this kind of users?
|
It's possible they were damaged/missing.
Regarding returning goods, it's also possible - depending your conditions,
when it was received, etc.
But at the buyer cost AFAIK. NOT at your cost.
|
I agree with that.

Of course. The strange angle confused me. It does look like a broken mast. There
were variations of this and those little bits by the hinge were not on all variants.
Not that I've seen a tan one. It is possible to cut bars quite neatly and
use a sharpening stone to flatten them to make them look like new. I used to
do that on any that got broken, just cutting the bad bit off.

| Isn't that mark/missing print to the neck from assembling it in the factory.
I thought the old process was that the neck print identifies the front, then
used to spin it around if necessary to attach the arms. I've seen quite a
few new torsos in the past with marks like that, especially when the white is
very thin / low density.

You do need to be a bit careful if you use a magnifier to check condition as
it can over emphasise fine damage that is not necessarily seen by the naked eye.
Many new parts have scratches. Not big gouges, but faint scratches to the surface,
especially CMF parts where someone has felt the package rather heavily to identify
it.
But if it is damage you see by eye, and then use a magnifier to confirm, that's
a good idea.
Neck prints can also be deceiving. Sometimes that print is very low density and
even partially missing. This is not always a sign of use. But if there are scratches
up-down on the neck print, it is more likely.
|
Oh I know, I’m not overly picky about scratches and such because I know that
that can happen inside of sets and in bags with other items, that’s why with
the one item (a shield) I didn’t even mention that to her at first even though
with the naked eye I could see a scratch on the print, but I’m not trying to
nickel and dime anyone but a item listed as new and has bite marks or the item
with the neck print rubbed off from a head being removed ( which it does have
the ink going up the neck and that’s why I said it’s from a head being taken
off) and I’m paying for it to be new I expect it to be in better condition.

The neck seems fine to me. Could come from scratching with parts in a bag.

"stolen, nightshift" as you put it, scenarios all too readily expressed
by mostly the under-informed here. To those reading, understand or don't.
|
It is like anything in life that is slightly outside of the mainstream rules.
If a little bit happens but it is so insignificant that it doesn't really
affect anyone or get noticed, it is not really an issue and can continue. When
it happens much more often, and people start abusing it, then something needs
to be done. In that case, things that would have not been cracked down on in
the past suddenly get cracked down on, even though people see it as legitimate
as it was previously not cracked down on. The sellers and buyers of the transparent
Darth Vader and Batman figures really pushed the boundaries and it seems previous
not disallowed parts have been caught up in this.

For example this
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1433671
Is an order I placed, it’s not special or rare for me to get items damaged
like that, just about every order I place has items badly damaged that are never
noted (tho there are some amazing sellers as well!)

| First, I have to say that most of the buyers that I have bought from have been
very professional and easy to work with. And now I have to rank I guess, I just
received an order today that everything was listed as new but when I looked them
over and I had a couple issues I reached out to the seller and she came back
saying that when these left her home there was nothing wrong with them. One was
a torso listed as “new and never assembled” but I can clearly see where the white
print on the neck is scratched from a head being removed and the second was also
a torso but this one had teeth marks on it. She said she took pictures before
she sent them out and I have asked her to send me them and I have sent her pics
of what I received. She said she had taken these out of the sets herself but
the first torso was from a collectors series and not part of a boxed set. And
another item, that I wasn’t even going to bother about, also comes from a collector
series but came with a couple scratches on it but it was nothing I wasn’t going
to work with but she states that all of it came from new sets that she opened
herself….. but again this wasn’t from a big box set. I understand that some items
scratch while in the bigger sets because of the way they are bagged but I have
also opened quite a lot of new sets and have never come across items in these
states of wear and have NEVER opened one that had teeth marks on anything lol!
She is refusing to rectify anything and said I can return them at my own expense
but that she cannot give me a refund for something that was described accurately
and shipped out accurately, which is false because of what I received proves
she is wrong. I think because Bricklink won’t do much on their end to help the
buyers out SOME of these sellers think they can do whatever they want and that
they can get away with it. She had one negative review over 6 months ago and
a neutral one so I thought I was relatively safe, her negative review was 2 missing
items in the shipment but she refused to compensate for them.
I have one order that currently is under review in PayPal but I don’t want to
keep having to do this, I just want the parts that are described as such to be
sent to me as such. Has anyone else going or been through problems like this?
If so how are you handling it?
Ps I want to state that I use a jewelers loop to review my items in my orders
so I can see all that is wrong or right with a item.

| Hello,
today something very bad happened.

| Hello
So... I purchased Lego's Pac-Man cabinet as well as LED lighting. I'm
also converting it to be motorized and I purchased the Powered Up 4-Port Hub
(85824) and a motor to run the game. As for the lighting, after all has been
installed, I'm left with a USB at the end to plug into a power source to
be manually switched. What I want to do is to plug it into the hub and have both
the motor and the LEDs controlled through the app. So as the title says, IS there
some type of adapter from the Powered Up plug to USB? Or even a train of adapters
that can lead up to a USB?
Thanks for any suggestions.

When was it received?
You've a proof of reception (but of course he received because he complains,
but for PayPal)?
Order total + shipping price?
Refunded parts price?
Qty of parts refunded // total parts?
You did well refunding what was said damaged/missing.
| I'm not speaking about the PayPal claim, I know I will win it.

Then simply ignore?

It's possible they were damaged/missing.
Regarding returning goods, it's also possible - depending your conditions,
when it was received, etc.
But at the buyer cost AFAIK. NOT at your cost.

Now to the point: What does actually qualify as "officially" LEGO

Over the years, for various reasons, certain people and groups of people have
been granted special access to acquire or purchase items/elements that are not
normally available to Non-LEGO employees or even to the general public. Typically
one-time closed-door events or deals, but with full authorization to acquire
those items. Also, typically accompanied by signed or handshake agreements as
well as Non-Disclosure Agreements to NEVER sell those items to the public and
not to talk about it.
Over time, however, and as those items pass from one person or generation to
another, those agreements to never sell may be long forgotten or disregarded.
I won't give specific examples that I know about, but some have included
special access to Lego Model Shop stock rooms; or deals to purchase bricks from
special production runs of specific elements and/or colors; or gifts of special
items as non-monetary compensation; or even as items to be sold to limited audiences
to benefit a third party that LEGO corporate wished to support.
Some of this type of thing still occurs, I am sure, tho I do not have direct
knowledge of such events like I used to have.
My point is that special items someone got 20 or 30 years ago could very easily
show up being offered for sale on BrickLink. And those special items are genuine
LEGO elements.
In fact, as a buyer, I have purchased many items like that on BrickLink and even
gotten some in other ways and have seen a few others with my own eyes. My term
for those items are 'Parts that Don't Exist'. Except that they do
exist, they were just never used in any Lego sets.

Good points. Thanks

brickstore tho the parting out sets feature is a bit of a learning curve. otherwise
just dont close the tab (difficult tho as I've done it myself many times
sometimes losing a lot of work) and then return when you are ready
