| How can i request the description change voor Gear 64776
It now is
Die 6 Sided Rubber Frame with Red Center with Studs (Board Games)
And i think it would be usefull to change it to:
Dice 6 Sided Rubber Frame with Red Center with Studs (Board Games)
By doing this you can also find it when you search for Dice (which i did and
i did not understand why it did not come up)

I hope they don't remove the word die, as that is the correct singular name
in English. Dice is a plural word, and changing it would suggest that the item
contains more than one die. Maybe add the word dice in brackets for those that
do not know the difference between the singular/plural English names.

Yes, please don't change it. I find it annoying when people use the plural
word dice when talking about a singular die. Currently, the only items with the
word "dice" are items that have multiple on them.

To me scissors seems to be strange too.
Yes, scissors are containing 2 separate parts but in the end it is 1 utensil
so it is a bit strange it looks like it is more than it pretends to be. It looks
multiple too.

Mostly the same in French for tools, though some can be used in the singular,
like cisailles (see-z-eye), shears, or tenailles, pincers.
Ciseaux (see-zoe), scissors, can only be plural because the singular,
ciseau, is a chisel and really another tool now.
Same for lunettes, spectacles, the plural of lunette, telescope
(non-reflective)… or toilet seat. Or jumelles, binoculars, the plural
of jumelle, female twin.
(Yes, the joke “they got girl twins – with the case and the lanyard” still makes
me laugh )

I agree and it should almost certainly include both words but sadly some of the

and yet the OP tried to find using the word dice not die and I myself would only
ever call a single die a dice so maybe its a region thing?
either way what harm does it actually do to name an item like this:-
Rat, Mouse, Mice, Rodent
The more keywords the more chance of people finding first time!

| If it is a regional thing, then yes, I would be for the "dice" change. But as
far as I know, correct English is always die for singular, dice for plural.

Except it's not a "mice". It would clog up any searches for items that do
have mice (such as decorated pieces), making it harder to find those.
If more keywords means easier time find it, then lets put animal, animals, mammal,
mammals, Mus musculus, four-legged creature, and living being all in the name.
I'm okay with rodent and rat as those do very accurately and specifically
identify that piece. But "mice" just doesn't make sense. At some point you
can't just open up the catalog names to any random term that a certain person
may search when looking for an item.

But all those terms you have used like animal, mammal are very generalised terms
but mouse, mice are very specific, Whilst I myself would reference it is a rat
others might call it a mouse. If someone says to themselves lets see if any Lego
mice exist in the catalog they may very well search using the word mice. Most
search engines work on the basis that if you search mice the word mouse is also
relevant to your search. If I saw the word mice in the description of a single
mouse item I would'nt let the plural correctness of it all get to me especially
if the description also contains the word mouse. I would simply understand that
the keyword has been added for search result purposes
You guys over there call Lego 'Legos' and whilst it sounds weird to me
I don't allow it to concern me I still know what you mean and thats all thats

The problem is that by putting the singular and plural of a word in the name,
you are watering down the search results and actually making it harder.
For example, let's say for whatever reason Lego loves making items with mice.
There are 200 items that have a print of a mouse and the title only includes
the singular form. Then there are another 50 pieces that have prints of multiple
mice, and only have the plural form.
If someone is looking for one of the "mice" prints and searches as such, they
will get only the 50 items and most likely find the one they want really quickly.
However, if we put "mouse/mice" on both the singular and plural prints, users
will now get all 250 items irregardless of searching for mouse or mice and have
a harder time narrowing it down.
What you're suggesting would make it harder for those looking for a particular
piece, which is probably how most people use the search.

And if you use mice for a singular mouse part, presumably you should also do
it for mouse based minifigs too, such as Fabuland ones, for consistency. Then
what about Mickey? Do you call him Mickey Mouse (Mice)?
And why only apply it to mice? Why not add guns to gun or swords to sword or
geese to goose.
I can understand die (dice) because people do make that error, using the plural
meaning singular. But I have never heard anyone refer to a mouse as a mice.

Items with prints are a bit different anyway as the main keyword focus is on
the item itself and so any extension to that description using either the word
mice or mouse is good enough likewise Mickey and Minie Mouse do not require
the word Mice as they are a characters and would'nt ever be referenced using
the word Mice however the example I have given is a very specific animial which
could very easily be referenced mouse, mice, rodent or rat

Yes maybe but only when the catalog is already swamped with too many items within
the same field. I asked for the word tranquilizer to be added to a rifle that
primarily uses tranquilizer darts and was refused and yet a keyword like that
would pretty much sit in its own field without affecting the search results for
anyone or any thing?
Either way it seems these other parts already contain Rat, Mouse, Rodent which
is atleast a far better description and so the same should be for the one mentioned
above

Thank you for bringing these to my attention. The names have been updated to

"rodent" is not a synonym for a rat or a mouse. It is an order of mammals.

Rabbits and hares are not rodents anymore in modern mammals systematic and taxonomy
There are in separate order - Lagomorpha

Squirrels and chipmunks are though. So all those Friends squirrels, and Chip
and Dale, got away without being labelled.

It now is
Die 6 Sided Rubber Frame with Red Center with Studs (Board Games)
And i think it would be usefull to change it to:
Dice 6 Sided Rubber Frame with Red Center with Studs (Board Games)
By doing this you can also find it when you search for Dice (which i did and
i did not understand why it did not come up)
|
"Die" is the singular form of "dice". In other words, "dice" means two or more
"die". Since this entry is only for one die, the name will not be changed.
Cheers,
Randy

The only thing i can say is that Die = Decease in many language.
And many use Dice even when there are only one.
Have a nice day.

Many words have multiple meanings. And many people use words incorrectly.

True, in today's common parlance.
I'd venture to say that a greater global percentage will think to search
using "dice"

This is absolutely true. I certainly know that the correct singular of Dice is
"Die", and in the right circumstances I use the correct singular as in: "Please
pass me just one die, not two."
But if I had to find a Lego die I'd almost certainly start with the word
"Dice", because the catalog may have more than one listing for these objects,
which would mean that the catalog has "Dice" generically.
A simple, and very helpful solution (for all who are not pedants) would be to
have an additional searchable tag of "Dice".

That would necessitate a tag system… and while we’re wishing for modifications
of the website, another simple solution would be for the search engine to know
about plurals.

Mine, too. But that doesn't mean that it is the only meaning of the word.
I am using a mouse at my computer right now, but I don't have to feed it,
and it isn't a rodent.
| And many use Dice even when there are only one.
|
A lot of people use language improperly.
For example, your sentence should read "And many use dice even when there _is_
only one."
I plan to.

Clever analogy, Randy. I like the image your metaphor conjures of feeding your
pc mouse
