Is there a "hey you just purchased these parts from your wanted list and
these were not in that order or from that seller" method of cleaning up a
wanted list? Or am I stuck with exporting both lists and comparing the two?

Not a link but some copy-pasta:

There is the “Apply Order” feature (but there’s caveats).

It’s a button on the top row when you visit a Wanted List (WL).
Click on it, it’ll show a dialog to choose an order.
The “application” will change the “Have” fields.
The “Want” fields will stay unchanged.
The progression percentage will change.

BUT
1. You have to be careful because you can apply the same order multiple times,
even on the same list.  It doesn’t remember what it did.  So if you have several
WLs, and they share some parts, it’ll let you think you bought everything when
you might not.
(E.g. you have 10x Red 2x4 bricks in WL1 and WL2, so a total of 20x, you buy
15x, you apply the order to the two lists, and the two lists have a “Have” of
10x.  Not good.)

So it works well when you have only one WL.

2. The “Want” fields are unchanged.  AFAIR, the “Have” field is not used consistently
everywhere: sometimes it’s the “Want minus Have” quantity that’s used (good),
sometimes it’s “Want” and “Have” is disregarded (bad).  It’s generally an option/filter.

And there’s also problems with lots in the colour N/A (means “any” in a WL).
The ordered lots have a real colour, not N/A, so they don’t match the N/A lots
in the WL.

So, I do it with searches, lot per lot, and “order-lists”:
— make a WL from your order (you can do that from the cart, just after checkout,
or from the order details page),
— search your order in all your WLs (you can do that in the Search page for WLs:
menu Want | Search),
— all your WLs will be searched/shown, including the “order-list,”
— you can directly edit your WLs from the search results.

For instance, if you want item X in WL1 and WL2 and if you bought that item X,
the search will show lines for item X: one for WL1, one for WL2, and one for
the “order-list.”  So you’ll easily see how many you wanted and how many you
bought.

Note though that the N/A colour is still a problem here (you ordered an item
with a colour which is generally not N/A, so it doesn’t match the colour in the
WL).

Also, it’s not because an item has been ordered that you have it; wait for it
to arrive before deleting it from your WL.

TL;DR: You can also use BrickStore to manage your lists and orders.

Lately I have been seeing more small orders where the shipping costs are many
times the actual value of the parts.

Why don't people wait until the order is a bit larger and in proportion to
the shipping costs. Are people afraid that the parts will no longer be there
(fomo)?

Are other sellers also seeing this trend?

Thoughts?

We have had customers from overseas order just a single item that costs less
then a dollar and still pay the $20.00 shipping fee and the $1.50 fee for orders
less then $10.00, That means they end up paying $21.50 for a 50 cent part and
with instant checkout they know the cost and pay it at the time of checkout.
It always amazes me when we get an order like that but every now and then we
get an overseas order like that.

Looking at our past 100 orders we have had 10 that were less then one dollar
from US customers. People quite often need just a couple of parts. We know this
so we dont have any store minimums - we dont really make much off an order like
that so that is why we have the $1.50 fee for orders less then $10.00 so that
we can at least cover the cost of fees and packaging materials while giving customers
the choice to place small orders. And again, because of instant checkout they
know the cost up front so no surprises.

Hi Bricklinkers,

has anyone some information on a new color for torso part no. 30375?

I would be happy to expand my droid army for another 102 droids in a new color.

Has anyone seen a new color in a set, in previews, etc?

Greets and thanks
Farid

Because parts vanish from your cart, and boy, it stings a lot:

Parts in carts are NOT reserved for you

Other buyers get them while you wait

You come back later and puff, you see some parts vanished.

result? less parts means the order SHRINKS, the contrary of what you asked.

Believe me: if you put things in cart and wait to add some some, soon enough
(hours or even minutes), you'll see the dreaded OUT-OF-STOCK message.

every order "parked as a cart" shrinks, shrinks, shrinks!

To get bigger orders:
- provide an "open order" method to make us order & pay in partial, then
we continue shopping.

might be hackers phishing for info....

had that occuring in oone of my other stores a few years ago, once i reported
the weirdness directly to paypal it seemed to stop.
'buyers' were buying $1.00 board game pieces with $6.00 shipping.. ????

spot check the addresses on a few of the orders.. see if it is actually a legit
place or if the person even exists

Addresses are legit and the parts are very specific.
When I buy I always throw in some random pieces from the store I know I can use
later.

When I first started selling online when I was younger I sold many board game
parts where shipping was multiple X what the items value was. Not sure why that’s
weird? If you need a board game piece to complete you game your gunna buy it
regardless of its $1 plus $5 shipping or $5 plus $1 shipping. If they were
phishing for info it would make more sense to buy things like stamps (or perhaps
coins if they are shipped with stamps in the states) which would cost them much
less

The better method is to look at the numbers and markings inside the LEGO.

Examples of different types of markings

Generally the filled tubes are older but there is no definite means or method
to determine age based on the tubes.

Example, I rarely find a 1x10 plate with filled tubes.

Some people just don't care about $5.

+1

Also, if I'm restoring an older set and I need a certain variant, I'll
go with a store I've used before knowing that the correct variant will be
sent vs saving a few dollars and taking a chance.

  Thoughts?

The buyer is probably desperate for the parts, especially if they are buying
from a wants list and not paying attention to the prices.

If it worries you, then use a store minimum price.

Research the sets you think you have. If they are valuable as a complete set,
then complete them. Check you have the minifigures, and if you can get a reasonable
price for those alone, don't bother with the set. Check if the sets have
any valuable parts. If they do, pick them out. Then either sort the rest or sell
it as mixed bulk.

You can ask the buyer or seller to cancel the order.

At the bottem of the page is a link to the 'Problem Center'. https://www.bricklink.com/retract.asp

From there you can add the order id and go on from there.

A lot depends on the value of the completed sets. Many sets are not worth much
and are not in high demand. If you have sets that ARE valuable, then the time
taken to piece them back together may be well worth it -- and you will have
the fun of building them one more time -- which is the whole point of LEGO
to begin with.

Also, if many of the needed pieces are lost, the costs to purchase the missing
pieces may not be worth it for cheap sets, but may be well worth it for high-value
sets.

A lot also comes down to the minifigs -- used sets without the proper minifigs
and accessories are not worth much. So if you were good to your minifigs and
did not chew them, paint them, or dismember them, you may be off to a good start.
Having to re-purchase minifigs to complete an old set can break the bank if
the minifigs are now expensive.

If you time is more valuable doing other things, then taking the time to rebuild
old sets may not be worth it. If your time is free time, then go ahead and build
your old sets one more time so you can sell them.

In the end, if you are not having FUN, then you may be doing it wrong
