2026 brings two new colors which we have added today with their official color
names: Blue Violet and Warm Pink.
As you might know, we already have a color called "Blue-Violet" that
was used in sets about 20 years ago, mostly for the Knights Kingdom II theme.
This color is officially called "Royal Blue", but official color names
were not known at the time when this color was introduced. Therefore BrickLink
and other websites had to find their own name for it.
To avoid any long-term confusion between these colors, a decision has been made
to rename the existing "Blue-Violet" color to "Royal Blue" and
the existing "Dark Blue-Violet" color to "Dark Royal Blue". These
changes took place today along with the new color additions.
For "Royal Blue", we will keep the old name "Blue-Violet" in
parentheses for at least one year. Sellers who have items in the old "Blue-Violet"
colors listed in their store will be notified about the name changes via email
next week.
Quick summary:
New colors added today:
Blue Violet
Warm Pink
Existing color names changed today:
Blue-Violet becomes Royal Blue (Old Blue-Violet) Dark Blue-Violet becomes Dark Royal Blue
It might take one day until these changes show up properly on all catalog pages.

Jonas,
Can you also add the old name for Dark Royal Blue in parentheses?

Is that necessary? It’s a rare color that was hardly used. Satin Trans-Brown
didn’t get the same note that Transparent Brown did in 2023.

We have looked into this, however, "Dark Royal Blue (Old Dark Blue-Violet)"
would actually be too long for a color name. The character limit could probably
be adjusted, but the long name would cause problems on several catalog pages
and in dropdown menus. Since there is no new color "Dark Blue Violet"
announced so far and Dark Royal Blue was only used for a total of eight items
in six sets, we don't think the old name in parentheses is really needed
in this case.

Just curious, as a seller, do we need to do anything to update our inventory,
or will the items that we have listed using the old color names be automatically
updated for us?

The names have been updated in your inventory automatically. You don't need
to change your listings. It's mostly so you know names have changed and you
may have to re-label storage or be looking for a color that you thought was a
color but has changed name.

That's why the poster above was posting. Because sellers have now been notified
and directed to the original forum post above.
