Everyone probably knows that the 75419 Death Star will be released on October
1st. It's the largest and most expensive LEGO Star Wars set ever with 38
minifigs and over 9,000 parts.
I wonder who's going to inventory this set. Given the number of parts and
the minifigs, this seems like something that will take a few weeks. And I'm
not even talking about the stickered parts.
Will Jennifer do it? Or Turez? Bricksthatstick? Someone else?

So Bricksthatstick will get the task?
Stellar (the small rocket) is the newest recruit.
Ah great!
I have another question out of curiosity: Is this discussed beforehand within
the inventory team?
I imagine TLG also needs to know who they're sending the free set to.
So, does that still mean the newbie gets to do it?
Probably not as he doesn't participate in the program that delivers sets
to some members. Would be a nice set to start, though.
Well, then he can still do the approval, just to teach him (pun intended)
I wish, but it must be an arduous task to tackle that one! I'm still learning
a lot for this.
Nevertheless on the future I will probably acquire it, so I can have it next
to my Death Star II.

I like that we have comics here again! Good work
Some would say the forum is full of wannabe comedians

Didn't know. And this only for half the Death Star, so the next one will
be the other half at the same price I guess? A rather expensive soccer ball IMO.

It's actually only a slice, not even half a sphere

Indeed, thanks to let me know. I think I'll pass.
Honestly, as a non SW fan, I don’t think it’s worse than the previous Death Star
sets: it’s a bunch of dioramas in a roundish shape with a grey skin and protruding
guns. And the depicted scenes look better than the previous ones.
Anyway, the ones who are moaning the louder will be the first in the shop….

It would be a fun one I’d recon it would take me about a week give or take
to do it, tho each person does it differently so it could be faster or longer
(just in
reference to initial work, it would take longer tho as parts would need approval,
sub inventories for figures, etc, my pc would probs crash many times )

A week? That sounds fast! 38 new minifigures to be photographed and inventoried
and approved. Plus 50 stickered parts that need to get a new number and photographed.

Stickered parts are not required for a new inventory.
It's not the quantity of minifigs, it's the quantity of new printed parts
that takes time. And then building carefully to check for extras/errors.
If I had the LEGO data to work from, I would need 4-6 days to finish this.
The approval time is a whole different ballgame.

I've done only smaller sets in the past. I'd like to do that one.
But won't happen, i haven't 1k to spare.
In general inventoring and adding parts is such a chilling task. A great part
of the hobby.

You just need some room and to be well organized:
Where's the yogurt? I see a spoon but no yogurt.
There, there:
But you forgot the hammer he uses to "part out" pieces!?
