13808pb01 Minifigure, Utensil Musical Instrument, Saxophone with Black Mouthpiece, Metallic Gold Body Top and Elbow Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Utensil, Decorated {Pearl Gold}
is listed as pearl gold, however in person it appears
to be metallic gold. ITC doesnt have data for this item from what I could find,
its handle appears to be normal pearl gold so perhaps rather then a color change,
mettalic gold could be added to the name, or is it just "normal" pearl
gold variation

On Customer Service, 6038164 is listed as Warm Gold (Pearl Gold), however I believe
CMF parts from that era were listed by the base color - 6020676 from set 62000
listed as Brick Yellow (Tan) for instance, so not much help there :c But, as
you said, the handle appears to be Pearl Gold.

Actually, the reason they're listed this way might be that they're not
actually Drum Lacquered, much like the pre-2005 "Metallic Gold" parts?
The Drum Lacquered parts generally don't have exposed surfaces, but 6020676's
underside isn't covered.

It could be that it is only pearl gold variation, the old one was more shiny.
On that part there is is more slim so it might be clearer. The metallic gold
finish its usually clearly different.

See: https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=242375&nID=1108430

Also LEGO render shows no difference.

Indeed, all the golds can vary quite a bit but this one feels a little to “shiny”
for standard pearl gold, but the more I look at it it seems the base color is
pearl gold and everywhere aside from the place it’s held is coated with metallic
gold

Also LEGO render shows no difference.

Indeed, but renders aren’t always the best

Could that not just be, the plastic is a little thinner in that area and so reflects
light a bit differently? It just looks like it has a bit of translucency to me
is all.

I have a video on my phone of my daughter when she was a toddler. She liked
to improvise dances to random songs. The song had a saxophone solo and she said
"A baby crying"

Good find.

It's confirmed that the main color is pearl gold, and it's partly printed
metallic gold.
For print colors we usually use gold for all gold shades. It doesn't look
good in this case, I'll discuss it with the other admins. In the meantime
I added a note.

Can you try to shoot a better image and submit it.

Thanks,
Diana
