I had few assembled sets that I am disassembling, and on multiple times the reddish-brown
parts break easily. This is true for mostly the 1x1 round brick and multiple
thin plates.
1. Anyone else experienced this?
2. Would TLG replace such parts?
PS. Most such parts are about 10 years old from the following sets
yes they are called brittle brown. it affects reddish brown, dark green, dark
red, blue (but much more rare), dark brown, and perhaps a few other colours I'm
forgetting. its a very common thing from around the lego lord of the Rings era.
pretty sure lego has an official statement and does replace the parts for the
ones they still make but i couldnt find it at the moment

Thank you very much. I will email them and see what happens.
TLG claims to have fixed the issue with brittle issue in 2018. So anything older
will most likely be more susceptible to breaking.

UCS sandcrawler for sure. No matter how careful I pull the elements apart most
just broke or crumbled (large and small plates mostly). After assessing the
damage I decided to just replace most of the reddish browns (even not broken).
No other colors were an issue on our set. Just reddish browns. So next time
we build this I have $130 of new legos to use in it) I wish I knew about the
free lego replacement

LEGO replaced it fine. I have had a couple of cheap parts break but I don't
inform them about those.
As for the horse, I superglued it back together and reinforced the central section
by gluing in an old saddle. It has held up and the kids still use it.
