I'll never forget it, my PayPal account got hacked years ago so I had to
call them, we reset my email back, changed my password about to hang up and my
email was changed back to the wrong email address. Ever since that day I use
2fa for everything I can.
Sure it's a bit annoying at times, but much less so than having what little
money I have taken away, that is way more annoying.

I since changed to Microsoft Authenticator so it’s not possible to even sign

Hi there,
I set up 2FA with Micros. Authen.
Today I noticed the recent funds I received in USD and EURO were converted to
CAD 
The conversions happened at different times. I wonder if this was an automatic
conversation or maybe
Part of an automatic trasnfer: i.e. the guy set up a daily automatic transfer
within which he set the foreign funds to be converted first. Now his bank account
is removed from my account so that automatic transfer misses the bank account
but the part that set up "conversion to CAD" is still working.
I tried to undo this. Hopefully this conversions are stopped.
Or maybe the scammer somehow can login and convert my funds to piss me up because
he is disappointed he cannot transfer my funds to his bank account!
Otherwise, I don't know.
Do you/did you have the same issue ?

you mentioned. I had that setup and it had the option of only transferring the
CAD funds or CAD and USD so presumably if it tries to transfer the USD to the
bank it would convert it to CAD directly in PayPal so if they set that up and
then you disconnected the bank then that would make sense. if you turn that all
off then you should be good to go.

In short it was like 2:30 am and the hacker probably thought I was asleep but
jokes on them I was wide awake. Then I got an email saying a phone number was
added, then a new bank was added and stuff so I went to PayPal and changed my
password and deleted the new number and bank that were added. The fun part.
For safety like normal I did not follow any email links once I saw them I manually
entered the app and confirmed it. Next I had 2FA enabled via my phone with text
yet somehow they signed into my account without me getting a single text. Then
somehow they added a phone number from the Philippines and a bank from the USA
to my PayPal account without raising a single alarm. Next I changed my password
and also changed my 2FA from my phone number verification to the Microsoft Authenticator
app so if you ever try sign in you must enter the 6 digit code provided by the
app that resets every 30 seconds which is not fun.
A breakdown of everything they did. Signed in, added phone number, addded bank,
earned trusted device as I got that email also, transferred all my usd funds
to cad, withdrew $99.99 from my bank to my PayPal account and ended in the process
of verifying 2 micro deposits in the newly added bank account and it was at this
time I changed everything and havnt had an issues since. (Hopefully I’ll I used
enough . So it’s legible this time! And some random line breaks so it’s not a
huge text block )
