| Very unhappy that brick link can't fix this. PayPal credit doesn't work
at all. Notice to my sellers, I not a large buyer but there are probably more
like me out there. My orders will dro significantly. Very angry about this. Brick
link has done NOTHING! DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR INCOME!

What do you mean by Paypal credit?
Are you trying to pay onsite? offsite? with your Paypal balance? with a credit
card through Paypal? with an actual Paypal credit card?

Jen, I think, the OP is talking about something like they do on ebay where paypal
lets you pay a fixed amount for 6 months. Like a short term loan

Your complaint is that bricklink doesn't allow people to buy lego on credit
through paypal, like they do through ebay?
if that's a conscious rule that bricklink has decided, sounds like they are
doing it to protect sellers. If you're buying on credit, maybe that's
a you thing?

I used a paypal promotional offer once (had just transferred my PP balance to
my bank) to pay for a BL order with no problem. Perhaps it has something to do
with you and paypal.

I used a paypal promotional offer once (had just transferred my PP balance to

Well, I think generally, at least, PayPal Credit is not one of the options that
comes up when buying from a BL store. But I wonder whether it has something to
do with whether the seller's PayPal account is a business account or personal.
A lot of sellers don't have business accounts.

If you can't afford to pay for your orders upfront maybe it's doing you
a favour that you can't use credit to pay for your orders.
So ironically maybe they do care but for your income

Not really any different than me buying a set from LEGO on my American Express
card and paying the bill a month later. How they want to spend their money should
not matter as long as they pay it.

Avoiding the credit cards are evil discussion, so just want to add context that
Paypal has a virtual credit card. It can pretty much be used anywhere, I use
it on ebay purhcases, Mercari, even Lego website purchases. But bricklink doesn't
offer it. When you check out with paypal at a place that dopes accept it, you
get the option to buy with balance, through your bank account, or through paypal
credit. On bricklink, the paypal credit option is never there.

No, use it, but pay what ever you charge monthly.
It is interesting that I got a letter from Capitol One with an invitation for
a student credit card. I am almost 76 and go to out local community college
for fun. So they must sell our data to Capitol One. What a fantastic deal,
very low interest, long times to pay, cash back, no membership fee. So I looked
through it and once the 6 month introductory fees ended it was something like
23% on unpaid balances.
Hook the kids into a lifetime of debt, great for 6 months, but then 23% APR.It
angers me that they tempt young people and then lower the hammer on them and
the kids do not even know what hit them. Playing on ones inexperience and also
their stupidly at an early age is unconscionable. People start treating plastic
cards like cash. If they have a few hundred dollars left on their balance they
think they are free to spend it, like money in their pocket.
Use credit cards to build credit for a car or a home. BUT pay then off each month.
It is strange now that credit scores will deduct points for not having a balance
on ones account. But don't apply or cards because they will deduct points
for that.

you interest on your savings account of 1 or so percent, but if you borrow for
a home they charge you 6-8% and if you use a credit card 23 or so percent to
let your balance ride.

Yep - and the more you're in debt or late, the more it costs and exponentially
(or close).
I should calculate this, but I think I could have paid a house with the extra
costs of the money I paid

To be fair that is a bank's margin, pay out less than you charge. You can
argue about whether the rates are "fair" but credit card debt is unsecured
so is pure credit risk, home mortgages come with asset security so should be
cheaper.
In everything you wrote the thing that stood out most of all was the sentiment
that the young can be "hooked" on debt because they know no better. That
is the fault of their parents, not the financial system.
Let's keep this Lego related. It is the parents' job to ensure their
child(ren) knows the optimal way to buy more Lego. Sometimes debt is under priced
and you should acquire ludicrous brick mountains. Generally it isn't, and
you can only dream of plastic hills.

American Express offers a high yield savings account. I like to have a bit of
cash easily accessible. I had cash in three different savings accounts and AX
sent me an offer for any deposit of $25000 or more and it must remain there for
3 months. They give 4% and offered a $350 bonus for the three months. I am
rather conservative but I do trust AX and pat more than they wanted into the
account. I got $664 for put 35,000 in for 3 months. I looked at what I was getting
from Bank America and the local credit union which was a little over 1%.
That is what banks do to us. Never ever run a balance. I forget who said "There
was a time in America when people ran out of money they stopped spending."

I am a bit surprised about this as well. Using PayPal credit was always an option
until somewhat recently. I assumed it wasn't available because my last 2
orders involved a different currency and maybe it wasn't offered for currency
conversion transactions but then I just tried with an order from Big B (clearly
a business account) and PP credit was not an option.
They should definitely think about resolving this as PP credit is a very valuable
tool to use, this is the first site I have seen that accepts PayPal but will
not take PP credit, must be something going on behind the scenes. Would be nice
to know they know there is a problem and it is being worked on.
If you think this is not a big deal as a seller think about it like; all of a
sudden they stopped accepting Amex payments and didn't tell anyone (or any
one of the major credit companies).
