I build a lot of Classic Space(stations) and since having moved away from baseplates
I use a combination of platelayer + bricklayer + platelayer to create my own
"baseplates" with Technic holes at the ends to make a modular setup
These 16x16 thingies, mostly used in mosaic sets, are pretty close to that so
I've bought some for testing
Since they're invisible (I will put a layer of tan plates on top so the colour
doesn't matter to me), I've bought five new ones in lavender (cheapest
colour)
But they're all very clearly warped!
All five in the same maner
Is this a known problem with this part?
Now, I haven't build anything with them yet so they may straighten out with
some weight on the top?

I've got nine black and eight light nougat, they are all flat when laid on
a table.

I have seen a lot of the black ones, and I have never seen any sign of warping
in any regards. Maybe it is an issue with the lavender ones?

Hmm, looks like I should try to buy some black ones then
That was my plan anyway, as just knowing an obnoxious colour sitting deep inside
my MOCs, makes my hair turn grey
I'm not sure if these mosaic sets are popular for parting out, but I hope
that part in black drops below a dollar/euro in the future as I would need several
hundreds

Heat will straighten them out. I used heat to straighten large plates 6-7 years
ago. I cannot remember the exact setting, but it was something as follows:
Set your oven to a low temp of 200
Place items in oven for a short time period, start with 1 minute.
Pull them out of the oven and test their temperature.
Continue to put into oven until they are warm enough.
Once they get warm enough the bends will fall out.
Over cooking will ruin the clutch on the studs so be careful.

Remember to season with salt a pepper and to first oil the part so it dosnt stick

And then serve with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

For a purely Aussie flavor add pineapple! When I was growing up there was a pizza
parlour where we used to order pizza, the taste of the pizza was fantastic to
me! We quite often ordered it with all the toppings, or most of them. Finger
licking goodness!
Before anyone asks yes us Aussies are a weird mob, we do put pineapple pieces
or crushed strained pineapple topping on our pizzas!

Fahrenheits I presume? That would be 93°C.
ABS starts getting supple at 40°C / 104°F
Hot tap water should do the trick better: less hot (around 55°C), more regularly
spread out.

Thanx, but I know of that trick
Have saved a number of baseplates that way. I used two glassplates and an industrial
heatgun. Worked very well after a few mistrials
Not going to bother with 10 bucks of parts this time though ..
Sold about 100 of the Black and Olive ones and haven't have anyone say anything.
I've got a stack of the nougat ones I'll check this evening. I am starting
to notice warping in the large plates like 6x14's etc..
