We have not split the pink color. That is classic paradisa pink, not Light Pink.

Why was the cloth part moved back? There is no Light Pink color.
56 Light Pink was cleared out to make room for Paradisa Pink/17 Rose. Sellers
already list that color under BL Light Pink.

We have not split the pink color. That is classic paradisa pink, not Light Pink.

Why was the cloth part moved back? There is no Light Pink color.
56 Light Pink was cleared out to make room for Paradisa Pink/17 Rose. Sellers
already list that color under BL Light Pink.

The main issue is that there is no clear dividing line in the inventory system
between early pink and middle pink. So we would end up with whole inventories
of Paradisa sets where the pink could be either one.
We have that situation in the 2003-2004 color change (Light Gray to Light Bluish
Gray) and those inventories are still compromised, meaning that to accurately
represent the two colors, we would have to have hundreds of alternate lines in
the inventory, which in some cases would nearly double the size.
Until we have a better way of handling alternate colors, we will need to hold
off on separating the early and middle pink.
The Light Pink changes so far were allowed because we found the existing colors
to be in error or there was a closer color. It wasn't because we were trying
to clear out the Light Pink color.
As a company, we actually did a study several years ago to see if people could
recognize the difference between the two colors, and we also collected a lot
of possible names from the public for the new color. So we were definitely prepping
to split the color, but then we ran into the inventory issue.
If you have an idea on how we could solve this, please share it with us.

I don't understand why this is an issue. There are not many parts that were
made in both colors (Paradisa Pink and Pink). In fact, the list is quite small.
So the argument of having inventory alternate lists that would be burdensome
is not really a good one in this case. This is a far different scenario than
the gray and brown color changes from 2003-2004.
And, yes, we were making all of the changes to clear out the Light Pink color
for an eventual change to Paradisa Pink.

There is a transition year from late-70s colors to mid-90s colors. Colors like
old Dark Pink and Pink were introduced in 1994 to replace colors that were last
used in 1993.
Paradisa Pink: 1991-1995 (appearing in two 1994 Paradisa sets and a 1995 Paradisa
speedboat. All other Pink parts from that era are Belville Pink)
Medium Dark Pink: 1992-1993
Belville Pink: 1994-2005 (Introduced in 1994 with the Belville line. It was used
in later Paradisa sets)
Old Dark Pink: 1994-2005 (Introduced in 1994 with the Belville line and DUPLO
Playhouse line. Unlike Rose - Light Reddish Violet, this color did not appear
in any of the same SYSTEM parts that Medium Dark Pink did as intended replacements)
The transition happened between 1993 and 1994. Because of the excess of Paradisa
Pink/Rose parts, they saw a few more uses in the equivalent of 1990s “floor cleaning”
sets, much like colors retired in 2003 did up until 2005/6.
As far as I can tell, alternates will not be needed for many sets. 6402 and 6410
may have alternates. 1761 has been confirmed to have alternates. These three
are post-93 outliers.

Inventories for the lasts years have up to 1137 unique lots, for the ones in
2004 or before, even doubling (not because only some items would be possible
in two colors not all) those sets inventories would be smaller than the ones
we currently have.

Another option is to use the way of LG/LBG, the inventory is done with the earliest
color and a note is added that all parts can be XXX color also, and that just
the unique parts are shown as alternates so that they appear in the known color
lists.

agree on. All available Paradisa Pink PCCs were added to Light Pink.
As with Rust, we are simply “not ready” for something that only requires a small
community announcement and only a handful of changes.

The path was clear and ready for something that Randy and other color experts
agree on. All available Paradisa Pink PCCs were added to Light Pink.
As with Rust, we are simply “not ready” for something that only requires a small
community announcement and only a handful of changes.

One thing is clear at this moment, we don't know exactly what is possible
right now with these pink variants. Since the discussion already started in this
thread, I would like to keep it in one place.
I also don't want a backlog of inventory change requests being created with
pink to light pink moves. We had that already with silver and glow in the dark
requests.
So I will reject the other request also. Please wait with these change requests
untill further notice. You are free to gather hard evidence for these Pink variants
though.
Maybe it's even better to open a new thread in the Color Topic.
