built this set in 1992 for displayed. Disassembled and cleaned 10-10-22 3 out of 4 3044a's were 3044b's. perhaps this can be added as an alternate item?

It was produced 1989-1992. So far

which was produced 1986-1995
 
Set No: 5151 Name: Roof Bricks, Red, 45 degrees
* 		5151-1 (Inv) Roof Bricks, Red, 45 degrees

Sets: Service Packs
which has year of release 1987 on Bricklink, but (also) 1996 on Brickset.

First next set was released in 1997.
So far the first year of production of 3044b in Red would be 1995 at the latest
(set 811-1).

Yes bought this set as a sealed set from a Toys'R'Us In Arvada Colorado
