How can I go about adding a new color to an element that has not yet appeared
in a Lego set yet? I have several 2 x 6 plates in trans-red new that I acquired
and there is no option to select it yet in the color menu. I was able to add
it my store in a round about way but no one is able to find it to purchase it
easily. Any help would be appreciated.

It appears in your store as an available part to purchase, just like the other
parts in your store. There's a good quality image of the part too. If I
do a catalog search for trans-red 2X6 plates, your store appears. Everything
looks good to me.

it appears to be showing up on the catalog. Where did you acquire
these pieces? From an official set?

He got them from the Pick-A-Brick in LEGOLand Florida.

If you are talking about the "known colors", those are based on inventories of
sets, minifigures etc. So that 2x6 plate in trans-red won't show up as a
known color until it is included in an inventory. You can list any part in any
color for sale, though.
