I got few copies but this one is more convincing. The copy right years on the
box are 1988 and 1989.
It looks the first owner carefully opened the bags and took some parts out of
the bags. The left-over parts are in mint/new condition.
I have not found photos of a new copy so far in which we can see these yellow
cones.

At this moment, this set is 1 out of 4 sets with the undetermined cone in it's
inventory.
These 4 sets are from 1988-1989.

Based on my findings below and your earlier request:
https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=308314

my opinion is that they probably all are of type

Part No: 3942b  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
*
3942b Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
Parts: Cone {Yellow}

Unfortunately there's no evidence for that at the moment.
Color image and items for sale do show though, that these do exist in yellow,
yet they are not known in any set so far.

Parts not in a sealed bags anymore can easily be replaced by previous owners.
Imo we need more evidence to change the undetermined type to 3942b or

Part No: 3942c  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
*
3942c Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
Parts: Cone {Yellow}

I think all the four sets should come with cones with open stud.

Part No: 3942c  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
*
3942c Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
Parts: Cone

Based on my findings below and your earlier request:
https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=308314

It shows the one with open stud

Part No: 3942c  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
*
3942c Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
Parts: Cone

This is set

Set No: 5172 Name: Rocket Stages
*
5172-1 (Inv) Rocket Stages
30 Parts, 1987
Sets: Service Packs: Space
from 1987
and the number 2517 on the service pack means 25th week in 1987. (25 - 7 and
1 means something we don't know)

Based on my findings, the rough timeline of 1x2x2 cones are
1979-84

Part No: 3942a  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Solid Stud
*
3942a Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Solid Stud
Parts: Cone

1985-90

Part No: 3942c  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
*
3942c Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
Parts: Cone

1991-95

Part No: 3942b  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
*
3942b Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
Parts: Cone

and since 1994? again,

Part No: 3942c  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
*
3942c Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
Parts: Cone

Obvisouly, this timeline is far from being exact however, I know that the cones
with open stud were used since early 1985, as I have seen light gray ones in
set
[s=1985]
that was new with catalog inside it from 1985 (and other variations of parts
indicating it was truly from 1985).
There are many mistakes in regard to cones 3942x in the inventories.

my opinion is that they probably all are of type

Part No: 3942b  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
*
3942b Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
Parts: Cone {Yellow}

I am sure set 8865 from 1988-92 first came with

Part No: 3942c  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
*
3942c Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
Parts: Cone {Yellow}

What I don't know is if its later productions came with

Part No: 3942b  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
*
3942b Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
Parts: Cone {Yellow}
?
The parts in my incomplete copy look new. I think the owner only took some parts
out of the bags. They still smell plastic. It is possible the cones are not original
but the chance is so slim.
I just checked ebay and found two more used copies with cones with open stud.

Attached photos taken from these two listings.

I found proof for another 1988 set

https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=319615

I know Jonas is working on these cones also. So let's wait for his opinion
on this.
Knowing a bit more about the timeline of these cones, I think we can approve
your request.

I also checked 2 sealed sets

that was new with catalog inside it from 1985 (and other variations of parts
indicating it was truly from 1985).
There are many mistakes in regard to cones 3942x in the inventories.

That is my opinion also, that is the reason why I would like to see solid proof.
Untill then this request will stay open. Hope you understand.

my opinion is that they probably all are of type

Part No: 3942b  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
*
3942b Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
Parts: Cone {Yellow}

I am sure set 8865 from 1988-92 first came with

Part No: 3942c  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
*
3942c Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
Parts: Cone {Yellow}

What I don't know is if its later productions came with

Part No: 3942b  Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
*
3942b Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Blocked Open Stud
Parts: Cone {Yellow}
?
The parts in my incomplete copy look new. I think the owner only took some parts
out of the bags. They still smell plastic. It is possible the cones are not original
but the chance is so slim.
I just checked ebay and found two more used copies with cones with open stud.

Attached photos taken from these two listings.

Parts: Cone {Yellow}

I found proof for another 1988 set

I know Jonas is working on these cones also. So let's wait for his opinion
on this.
Knowing a bit more about the timeline of these cones, I think we can approve
your request.

I also checked 2 sealed sets
