Source is my copy of this set, which was purchased new and never disassembled, and includes the extra pieces in a baggie as well.

Source is my copy of this set, which was purchased new and never disassembled, and includes the extra pieces in a baggie as well.

Something odd is going on here. We have 7 of this part in the regular items section
and another one in
But there should be no more than 7 in total according to the parts list and instructions.
And even if you have the variant of the set with numbered bags, three extra parts
seems a lot for 7 regular parts which only come in two different bags (one is
used in the minifig, 2 on page 7 (same bag) and four on page 107 (another bag)).

Would you mind checking again if your set really came with 10 of these in total?

It looks like my extra parts bag for this set has been compromised. I found multiple
extras missing that should've been there, and a few others that shouldn't
have. I do believe that 48729b is the correct variation for this set, as all
copies in my set and extras bag are the -b variation, but at least for an extra
parts count my inventory shouldn't be relied upon. So for now, please delete
this request. My apologies.

No problem - I'm still glad you submitted these requests because they pointed
me to the wrong quantity of 48729 in the regular items section. And yes, 48729b
should be the only variant here, see also these two early copies of the set:
