I don't find taking the 2x2 plate off the base to be easy and I've definitely
damaged bases in the process.
I don’t know what to do with these pieces that are connected. I have broken
too many in the past trying to separate them. I currently have 3 sand green
3937’s that I don’t want to damage.

Possibly a superlot? Or list as 3937 with the explanation that the hinge plate
is attached?

I have never done a superlot, that is an interesting idea and good way to handle
the connected parts.

Thanks!
Note that superlots are excluded from searches by default.
I separate them with a brick separator, holding it like an oyster knife: envelopped
with the thumb on the logo and the studs, the other hand holds the base brick.
More control and useful contact surface than just using it as a lever (and less
risky: no catapulting).
Personally I've almost never had 1 break. The way I separate them is I put
the top hinge piece at a slight angle then slide the brick separator's thin
edge in between on the side and twist and it works every time (can post a photo
if needed) not sure if that is the way you do it or if I'm just lucky that
mine almost never break.
Hope this helps!
