Based on our research, the part
was the earliest version, produced for productions between 11th-24th week in
1980 for the market of Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland,
Norway. We have seen this part with this and two other trains produced in 1980
in multiple used copies and are already confident that this part was used in
early 1980 for these three trains (7740 and two other sets)
Since 1981, the production of this train was doubled, to be sold also in other
European countries like UK, Italy, France. This means 4093d approximately appeared
in only 1/27=3.7% of total copies of this train.
One of the exceptions for an early variation of a part to be added to the alternate
seciont is
When the scarcity of the earliest variant is high enough that it is unlikely
to be found in a sealed set, then it may be placed in this section.

So I request to add this part as alternate.

Aoout rescuing an Orphan Lego part:
Take A Lego part off The Street for less than few dollars per day, you can rescue
a part living in unthinkable circumstances. These are parts who have no one to
care for them and they likely would not survive without the care provided in
our sets's inventory.
