Yes, it's that darn pesky LR 13000 counterweight still bugging me

So, BL managed to get the original listing deleted, only for the same seller
to relist the same parts right away again (allthough at a slightly lower price,
how nice of you )

And now a second seller have joined the party

Can we all play by the book here?

Cheers,

Ole

Someone else is doing this as well

Lots 363042055 and 363081754

Thank you for reporting. We now have a new catalog entry:

Part No: 80428 Name: Technic Weight 7 x 11 x 2 Solid
*
80428 Technic Weight 7 x 11 x 2 Solid
Parts: Technic {Light Bluish Gray}
Does anyone know if this is really a metal part like the old Technic crane hook:

Part No: 70644 Name: Technic Hook Large Metal
*
70644 Technic Hook Large Metal
Parts: Technic {Black}

real metal

John P
We will remove the listings and tell these folks there is a new entry.

While sorting through I find this poor piece - a 33009 (verified by the number
inside) that’s had a hard life

What on earth happened I have no idea ha ha

Looks like the aftermath of one of my girly magazines my mother found under my
bed when I was a teenager.

In Sales, Jake789 writes:
Take your bricks to work in style with this Lego briefcase! Nine 8cm x 12cm x
9cm compartments fit half a sandwich, an apple, a small carton of milk, and anything
else you can think of. There are even three removable baseplate lids for building
on your desk.

In all seriousness, the Build-N-Store Chest, released 33 years ago in 1990, is
pretty awesome. Where is the kid with the bowl cut taking his Lego. To school?
The office? A gap year in Paris? It doesn't matter. This set (565-2) oozes
end-of-the-century goodness from the overly-excited girl with the bangs and the
pink polo to the orange Toys-R-Us price tag.

This particular example is over 99% complete. The box and instructions are tattered,
as you can see, but the chest itself and all the parts are mint—I don't think
they've ever been played with. Some of the flower petals can even be found
clinging to their sprues. I've replaced the steering wheel and one of the
black antennas with pieces from my collection. Otherwise, everything is original.
The only thing missing is the 50cm cord.

Please feel free to message me if you're interested in buying this unusual
piece—I'm happy to send additional photos upon request. Though photographed
loose, the parts will be protected by grip-seal bags. My main business is antiques,
so I have plenty of experience safely shipping items of this size.

Hope to hear from you soon!

That was common a long time back. I think they made a red smaller one also.
Just came with an assortment of bricks. There were other briefcases for salesmen
samples if I remember correctly. But I maybe confusing that with the Victoria
Secret party carryall.

Thank you John to let us know - people's death is part of people's life.

I just hate it when people I follow and am fond of die. Makes my mortality come
to mind. I have five comedians that I credit with my sense of humor. The first
was Shelly Berman. I had all his records when I was young. He died in 2017.
The other three are Rowan Atkinson, Chris Peterson who I met once, and Andy
Kaufman, also deceased.

feedback (I was the first to post and he posted because I have him negative feedback).
Now I have a negative review will sellers look at it since I have a 13 now?

I would sell to you. Feedback as a buyer is not as bad as feedback for a seller.

I would think that cancelling the whole order would only give the buyer even
more reason to leave negative feedback for you.

If I were you, I would go ahead ship the rest of the order. Perhaps you could
order the missing part from a different seller and ask to have it shipped directly
to the buyer.

Thank you for replying. I was thinking of buying another part for them but how
do I make any money off of their original order of around $5.00? Plus the other
seller might even send the wrong part. Might as well just refund their entire
order and send it to them for free. As some of the stickered parts are not perfect
either that they ordered. Selling on here is certainly not easy.

Making money when a mistake is made should not really be a concern especially
when it is a small amount. You made a mistake with your inventory and screwed
up - not a big deal, we all have screwed up but how we handle those occasional
screw ups shows what kind of persons we are and we view our customer service.

A good example is myself. Just a few days ago a customer placed an order and
paid but then asked if he could go ahead and place another order and have both
of them combined. I said sure and told him that he should go ahead and place
the 2nd order and I would combine them and just refund him the shipping. Well
like an idiot (which I quite often am, at least I am often told) I shipped the
first order before he place the 2nd one.

The second order total of parts was $3.68 but the shipping was a little over
$4.00. I already told the customer I would refund the shipping so I had to ship
the second order at a loss. It was a bummer but hey, at least my customer would
receive his orders and be happy and that is more important to me then making
money.

I would suggest taking the loss and make your customer a happy customer. After
all, the mistake, even though small, was made by you and not your customer.

Jim.

Very good reply. Totally agree.

There is another way. Leave the Lego in a room with a young male cat.

Hi..Thank you in advance for the help. I am asking this for a few reasons..
I am not saying this to gain sympathy.. just want to explain why my head cannot
absorb the complexity of looking up all this info myself.

My husband is losing his battle with cancer. But we are still hopeful and fighting
it.

We are also losing out financially becuase of it all, so I am wanting to sell
my LEGO collection. I have been collecting for almost 50 years and have a huge
amount that are in the box. Some are actually pretty valuable at this point.
I never thought I would sell them (that certainly wasnt my intent) but it honestly
means nothing to me now. I just want to be able to suport my husband and try
to get through this.

That said.. I have been uploading the boxed sets (slowly) to my closed store
and trying to find the cheapest US price and then beating it by a small margin.
my goal.. to sell as many as I can but still be able to have a good amount of
funds

OK.. that out of the way.. I have no problem with the stocking of the store but
I am scratchin my head for how to state my shipping terms and what would be best..
Like I said.. all the ones I am uploading are still in the box and some are UCS
and quite large.

How do I offer the best shipping options and make it easy on myself as well..AND
protecting myself from scams etc.

I am based in Washington state (US)
I have a UPS store I can walk to
Post office within a few miles of house
I dont have a ton of packing materials nor do I want to stock up on them.
I really dont have the energy to put a ton of effort into this.. I can barely
keep my head afloat as it is.

How would you lovely people that are pros at this set up a boxed set only store??

My thoughts are with you. Some of us old timers know very well the struggle
you are facing and what you are going through. None of us can really say anything
that can help you weather this storm, be we must let you know that we care.
There are no shortcuts to selling. Your pricing ideas seem to be very close
to what I did when I sole 8200 boxed sets 12 years ago. What I can suggest is
put your own pictures in the listing and make sure you described of your set
and the box and the instructions very carefully and mention any defects or shortages.
If you have a lot of sets you will need to get shipping supplies which are not
cheap, but better than having to refund a sale because the post office is careless.
I used U-Line but there may be places cheaper. I am lucky I live close to a
military base that recycles and while selling my Simpsons and some Star Trek
items, actually a few thousand, I got all my packing from the recycle bins because
they are usually filled with packing from military moves and are very clean.
If you go places like Target and Walmart early in the mornings you can usually
pick up a lot of boxes there, also when they stock the greeting cards.
I wish I could offer more advice, just remember if it is a large collection it
will not be easy and very time consuming. Most buyers are good folks but there
are those that will drive you mad. I am retired and I could spend 16 hours a
day for the first 3 months of selling. It is a big job and will take a lot of
time.
Best of luck to you and remember, it can be done. Hopefully, all goes well for
you and your husband and your selling.

my head wondering whether my order is large or small to understand which terms
will apply.

Now I’m curious. Is there is any ballpark rule of thumb for judging order size?

Thanks

I started feeling crotchety years ago. I have also said kids should not be allowed

As for the minifigers, sand paper or emery board works very well.

  Hi all,
just sharing this both annoying and funny story that happened yesterday. I ordered
some parts from UK store and yesterday received it.
What can I say, I was very surprised to find in the package a black shirt made
from a shiny fabric, not my taste all
I wrote the seller and he replied: I've never seen that shirt before so no
idea how that has turned up.
Of course, this is the courier company fault, not the seller fault. The seller
also refund me and received positive feedback from me.
I just wonder if any of you have more stories like this to tell.

Tow times. When I started using eBay I got a box of used Lego. Inside were
some Lego, toy soldiers, marbles, jacks, and boys underwear. Unfortunately,
the underwear did not fit me.
Then a story I have told here before. I won a bid for 30 pounds of Lego. I got
it and it was short about 5 pounds and half the box was Megabricks. I complained
to the seller and she sent me a box of Lego catalogs. So I complained, these
were not Lego bricks. She said she would not send me any more. After several
emails back and forth, I told her she did not have to ship the rest, I found
several 100 dollar bills hidden in one of the catalogs. She went ballistic on
me,demanding the money be returned. Then husband started emailing me, again
was very threatening me. There was no money in the catalogs. But, from what
went down for them I am sure they missed several hours of sleep over the next
week. That was really fun for me.

I should do about this. I am new to being a seller within the last 4 months and
strive to make sure every order is properly taken care of. I have 62 positive
reviews but one neutral today came in that doesn't make much sense to me.
They wrote, "Came in great, no communication though.". I sent this package
same day, changed the status to shipped immediately, and the buyer received it
fine within a few days of placing the order. I really want to keep reviews positive,
is there something I could have done differently, I never received any messages
or emails from the buyer, any advice would be appreciated, Thank you!

I always send a message (Thank you for buying this I will mail it to you ....)
In the listing I put: "I ship same day or next except when the post office
is closed or in the event of nuclear war or alien invasion."
They then know I am aware of the order and they get a little warm fuzzy feeling.
I ship same day or next so I tell them on what day I am sending their order.
Very important to ship the day you said you would

At one time I supported that idea. The more I thought about it I changed my
opinion. The original price has nothing to do with the value of a set. A lot
of buyers are not collectors or AFOL. They buy for birthdays and other holidays.
There might be an older set that is now triple or more in value. The buyer
sees that and wonder what is wrong with the seller or Bricklink. It also does
not take in to account the condition of the box, instruction, and brick.
Doing this might drive the casual buyer off and they go somewhere else.

is he allowed to give me negative feedback for something I could not do anything
about and if he does give it is there any way I can remove the feedback since
I don't have anything to do with it?

Why is it the "buyer's package" and not the "seller's package?"

The buyer having paid for the package, strictly speaking, owns it. Should not
then the possessive be applied to the buyer? Think I understand the point you're
making with the question though. Nonetheless

Disagree. If a seller put a brick in a package, is that the buyers? If you
put Schrödinger's Cat in the package, would it be the seller's or the
buyer's?
John P

Like I said, think I understood your point with the question.

But again strictly speaking, once good faith payment has been completed (not
held in escrow, etc) exchange of ownership takes place irrespective possession,
which for a time is with neither party. Not to be conflated with agreed-to TOS
of any third party payment processors used. That’s not what we’re talking about
here. We were talking about the OP’s use of possessive form

But yeah, there are plenty of misconceptions on the topic more broadly. Which
is entirely understandable given the lack of cohesive answers to questions asked
surrounding this, including that of possession. Some e-commerce sites have been
trying to bridge that gap by going beyond brokering the payment process entirety.
In other words, buyer payment is made to the site where it’s held in what I only
assume is some form of escrow (to easily reverse if need be) ~ Once the buyer
takes possession and as you touch on, confirms the goods-as-purchased, the site
then places the net profit amount into an onsite generated individual member
account for (limited) access by the vendor: spend on the site, transfer to bank,
etc.

We sell on a site (not eBay) that has fully morphed into conducting business
this way. I was apprehensive at first. But after a few transactions, it seems
to work well for both vendor and customer alike. In a weird way, I kinda prefer
it now.

The above aside, personally, I have always viewed any order the moment payment
is completed, as the possession of the buyer and treat it as such, with more
care than I would my own things.

~popsicle

I still think of my collection sold here still my property. Others are just
using it. I was extremely careful in packing and describing what I was selling.
One feedback said it was bulletproof. I spent over $10,000 in packing over the
two years I was selling my collection. I did not want my Lego damaged by the
USPS.
Your feedback says it all. You do an exemplary job selling and bricklink would
benefit if more sellers did as well as you do.

Good point. How can you own something that you have not received? Schrödinger's

is that you cannot. Do you own it if it was lost 4 years ago?

  Hello everyone,

We recently had a "fake parts" dispute between a buyer and a seller that
found its way into the Help Desk. This happens from time to time and normally
we don't get very involved - we just give some basic advice and ask them
to work out the dispute between themselves.

However, in this case the buyer posted a video showing the fake parts. We'd
like some opinions on whether these are really fake or are they simply an older
mold:

Can someone just send one to Lego and ask if this is legit? Seems rather simple.

Good point. Has any one asked Lego? Perhaps ask for a recently produced sample
straight from them on what is being manufactured and see if the parts are different.
Also, Bricklink could ask the seller from where the large quantities come.

Israel is in a rather unique position.  You could also take Switzerland as an
example, or Finland, or look at the map here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscription#History
and cherry pick your ‘good’ examples.

Not Switzerland, it even maintained it neutrality during WWII. And did not even
join the United Nations after that war.
I am really coming from a USA point of view. Young people are so different when
I go to Ft Bliss. There is such a change in the demeanor from there and the
US population in general. And it is just a an opinion. Quite personal. And
I do not believe I am 100% correct. But I do see a difference and I do not think
the current generation would learn nothing from discipline and belonging. It
is nice to belong to something more substantial than being a supporter of local
football team.

I was just giving the French example (long history of conscription since the
Révolution).
And I could cherry pick ‘bad’ examples on the same map

You’ll again say I’m always adverse to new things and solutions but the thing
is that “simple solutions” are never simple and rarely solve anything.

Volunteering for service and “forced” conscription are two different things with
different results.
It also greatly depends on how it’s done: tedious and useless tasks (“if it moves,
salute it, if it doesn’t paint it”), favouritism (exemptions, cushy positions,
etc.), and so on.

(Saying that as one of the last French to be conscripted, in a semi-cushy position
thanks to education.)

Israel does it and it seems like they can beat all threats and they are a small
isolated nation. I was drafted and stayed in. I would say one year, at the most,
to serve the various countries that have given so much to their citizens. It
is a small price for protection, freedom, and for choice in their lives. It
gives citizens a view that there is just "me" and it is for others only
to sacrifice to maintain freedom.

This also goes along with my theory that I believe everyone should work in the
service industry at least some point in their early adulthood because no one
would act like that.

We are selling used Lego and I make a strong effort to keep worn and severely
beat up pieces out of inventory. Some of the moderate play wear I’ve included
in our inventory but with descriptions. But there is some Lego I have that must
have gone to a prison or were driven over by big wheels in a driveway, they are
straight up abused! But I don’t have the heart to throw them out.

Has anyone known people that buy really beat up Lego? If there was a rare part
that was beat up, do people still buy them?

The battered woman shelter here. The woman usually come with children. They
are very protected and toy donations help keep them busy.
