If the likelihood that 22 Medium Reddish Violet is ever going to be recognized
by BrickLink is low, then the notes page should at least contain a note about
the color. It was retired alongside old brown and the old grays.
22 Medium Reddish Violet:
Introduced in 1994 in the Belville theme.
Experienced consistency issues in 2003. Some bricks were much darker than intended/lacked
colorant quite often.
Replaced in 2004 by 221 Bright Purple as part of the color change (Though, 221
made its first appearance in 2003 Clikits sets. This theme did not use 22 Medium
Reddish Violet)
Used in three “floor cleaning” sets as part of LEGO’s cleanup project of old
colors up until 2005.
221 Bright Purple:
Introduced in the Clikits theme in 2003. Available outside of that theme starting
in 2004.
Original shade is significantly redder than Medium Reddish Violet.
Reformulated around 2009 to be more consistent. Now resembles 22 Medium Reddish
Violet more than its original 2004 shade.
Do we know if this page even experiences any sort of traffic? It would be nice
to see this added to the color guide.

| Hi all
While sorting, I’m sure we all come across bricks That have had a hard life or
have had a challenging journey. This time I’m erring towards this brick actually
coming from the factory as a dual colour brick rather than it being bleached
or something
What do you think ?

| Hello,
The Bricklink administration removed one of my selling listings. The reason was
that the parts were listed in a non existent color.
The part was actually a genuine lego part, listed in the correct color. Only
was it never released in an official set, so it does not show up in the color
guide in any set. Is it no longer allowed to list such parts? As far as i know
this type of parts could be obtained in a legal way from a pick a brick wall.

| Hi!
I am having a small issue with a customer who claims te have recieved parts with
sun damage
He sent me pictures of what i believe are his own arches (or maybe other arches
out of the same order: i do not know) and the different "sun damaged"
parts picked out of the different lots/items
Since all parts have the same color on the inside and outside i suspect color
variations/inconsistencies from a parted out set (7094)
Trying to resolve the issue with the customer but i am wondering how yall are
handling this, also with the sand green, dark red, pearl gold and other color
inconsistencies, since it also seems to happen in modern new sets
Do you still opload the part?
Do you place a note on seperated lot?
Or ditch the parts in a bulk bin?
Thanks in advance!!!

| New thread, new title etc etc
I've more or less reworked the data I had with the new, accurate silver
classifications, which is lovely! I'm liaising with hereforbricks614 to try
and tick off as many Bionicle-specific 296 parts as we can. 2006 is still our
dodgy year, with 131 v1, 131 v2, and 296 all being used. I'm a little concerned
that 2005 might be a potential source of 296 too, but have written off 2007 (blame
some very, very dodgy 131 v2 Jaller swords for that). Te only real challenge
left is to detangle the aforementioned dodgy 131 v2s, and true 296 pieces I've
managed to confirm a bunch of the potential parts already, but more rechecks
are required before I bring that data to BrickLink proper for potential catalogue
inclusion. I'll keep picking at it as I find time between work and other
dumb Bionicle-centric side projects.
Unfortunately, 296 isn't our only bugbear. I've had 2 confirmed sightings
of this weird dude: a 131 v1 Mahri shoulder piece. This image was provided by
a mate, I don't have this piece myself. This piece was introduced in 2007,
and in theory shouldn't exist. In both reported cases, a single one of these
was pulled from a bulk lot, with no accurate indication of what set contained
it. Even more strange: there are no sets that only use 1...
If anyone has any insight as to where this weirdo snuck in, I'd love to hear
it. I'd also love to hear from anyone who has owned the 2005 Bionicle system
playsets from NIB, particularly if said sets contained a Pearl Gold Kraahkan/Pearl
Gold Visorak body. There's a slim chance they might have used 296 as their
silver, going on other contemporary uses, and I'd love to be able to write
them all off conclusively.
Thoughts?

The note on rust is also outdated. We know well by now that the "rust"
parts of 1979 - 1992, and those of 2004-2005, are intentional colors, being [TLG
13 - Red Orange] and [TLG 216 - Rust] respectively, and that the 1997- 2000 "Rust"
is just bad red [TLG 21 - Bright Red]. There's really no ambiguity to be
had there.

| Hi,
I'm going through some old Lego Star Wars Lego sets.
At the moment I'm looking at 10188 Death Star.
I didn't even open all the boxes on this set and all parts or original.
See the 2 x images below:
The image on the left is slightly less 'blueish' then the one on the
right.
Flipped over (the less blueish one is now on the right), the underside is a lot
more glossy where as the (IMO) true light blueish grey is a more matt finish
on the underside.
There are about 8 of each in this set and all of the left have one shade, all
of the other have the slightly different shade.
I think I'm seeing this in other Star Wars sets from around the same too
where the greys are ever so slightly different.
Why is this? Have I somehow mixed pieces up - which would be difficult seeing
as I don't have those lager grey pieces anywhere else?
Appreciate some advice!

Author: | Shaggy_Rogers | Posted: | Nov 2, 2023 14:42 | Subject: | Colours for sale VS Known colours | Viewed: | 92 times | Topic: | Colors | Status: | Open | |
|
| Hi!
I collect all kinds of bricks and parts, and the goal of my collection is to
have 1 of every colour of every type of brick/part/element. So for example, 1
of every colour of part 3021. But the problem I keep coming across is that when
I go on a catalog page for a part, often there are many more colour variants
for sale than there are colours that are known. For example, going back to part
3021, I know for a fact that there is a pearl light grey colour variant because
I own one, and yet it is not listed as a known colour. Other people are also
selling part 3021 in pearl light grey so I don't know why it isn't a
known colour.
Can someone please explain to me why there is very frequently a difference between
the colours for sale and the known colours? I appreciate that occasionally a
seller might misidentify a colour (e.g. sell it as Medium Nougat when it is actually
Nougat), and that even less occasionally there might be some fakes entering circulation
on the market, but surely this doesn't account for the many catalog items
lacking known colours when they are for sale? It is making it very difficult
as a collector to know if I should purchase colours that are for sale but are
not "known" in case they are not genuine or are mislabelled.
All opinions appreciated.
Many thanks,
Lucas

slate gray. As these are the spring loaded hips & legs, they all came out of

| Is this Transparent Neon Orange? This color was retired(?) at the end of 2021,
but the official renders for this part sure look like they use this color. Rebrickable
has the following note: “Bricklink and Brickowl inventory this as Trans-Orange
even though the part is Trans-Neon Orange.”
Two of these renders come directly from LEGO. This part is probably 47 marbled
with Transparent Brown. Most parts in this color appear slightly redder than
Transparent Orange parts in LEGO renders. The second render is an outline render.
That orange color is too red to be Transparent Orange.
The other photo is from a BrickOwl user. The part definitely looks like 47 here.
This part is included in the newest Harry Potter Gringotts Wizarding Bank set,
which would make this color current again.

| Hi,
I just wanted to discuss this a bit. As a lot of us know, the Piraka and all
the other 2006 Bionicle figures were given "Pearl Light Gray" armor.
It was the new colour at the time. But, according to Bricklink's inventory,
The Toa Nuva armor (as well the Toa Metru weapons) are "Pearl Light Grey!"
Pearl Light Grey was undoubtably the 2006 armor colour, so why is this appearing
in the earlier years? And what makes this infuriating is seeing the hundreds
of "Pearl Light Gray" Nuva pieces being sold by unsuspecting sellers,
especially if you're after a particular variant -- it makes hunting it
a pain and a gamble.
Can this change?

a pretty good fake. I am only seeing this with small parts like
Part ID: 22388 , 3023. I am still seeing the Lego logo on 3023.

| Has anyone noticed a color variation for the part 970c120pb01? The part is used
for Eomer and King Theoden's legs in The Lord of the Rings sets.
I purchased four parts recently, and three of them have a light brown belt and
dark red fabric flowing from it. The picture on Bricklink shows exactly this.
However, the fourth one I purchased has a brighter red fabric and the belt is
the same red color.
I know that printed colors can vary a decent bit, but was surprised that the
belt is actually a different color. Just curious if anyone else has noticed
this or had anything to weigh in on.
In the images attached, the redder one is on the right.

| Hello,
I'm adding my collection to bricklink and I stumble in full speed into a
wall.
I have 2 little pretty bright pink flowers 93080g. When looking in the bricklink
archive itself you get the nice bright pink flowers in the first picture you
see.
But when I try to add them to my collection I can only choose between Dark Purple
or Medium Azure. As if the 2 little bright pink flowers I have in my hand don't
exist. But I see the picture in bright pink here on bricklink.
And what is more weird is that, when I type 93080g into my "add to collection",
I get that picture that is here on the bricklink archive. But when I need to
choose a color I can't choose bright pink, or any pink at all. I tried leaving
the color as is (as in not choosing any colour) but that won't be accepted.
I'm being forced to choose a wrong color.
I invite everybody to try it. You will get the same results, I tried often enough.
Any ideas how to solve this?

So, we have been parting out random sealed bags of LEGO. I've managed to
get my hands on some older Light Gray and Dark Gray, that were from older sets
2003. I was parting one this eve from a friend's set from 2012, #3315. The
set has Light Bluish Gray in it. However, some of the 2x2 plate and 1x2 tile
were clearly different from the LBG. So, I pulled a piece from the older Light
Gray, it a shade different but closer to LG than LBG. Would this have been possible
during that year?
2x6 is LG
Left 2x2 is the LBG and the Right 2x2 from same set as one on left.

| A friend of mine's 8796 King Matthias set came with parts 50602, 50616, and
50629 in Pearl Gold. However, I'm not sure if 50623, 53346, and 53347 also
came in Pearl Gold, or if set 8791 did too. In any case, there seems to be a
similar case to the Pearl Gold Kraahkan or Visorak carapaces in the BIONICLE
playsets. Though the lighting in the images is not ideal, these are indeed PG;
they can be seen compared to other PG parts here: https://www.reddit.com/r/bioniclelego/comments/foe1me/zayna_toa_of_psionics/
The reason I bring this up is of course to see them added as alternates, but
first, this definitely needs more research, because as I said, I don't know
if the other three gold parts in the set were PG too... :/ Potentially if we
could find PCC, that would help?

| I'm browsing parts today and all of a sudden all pieces that were always
Flat Silver now are Pearl Light Grey. Those are two different colours, just like
Flat Gold and Pearl Gold.
If you hold two same pieces one from 2004 and one from 2008 they have clearly
distinct tints to them, especially in Bionicle. And in the transition years ~2006
some sets actually had both variants making them desirable by collectors.

| Most on here are aware of the 'confusion/difficulty' with separating/identifying
the colors below:
1. Light Gray vs. Light Bluish Gray
2. Dark Gray vs. Dark Bluish Gray
However, few more colors pose similar challenges
3. Dark Green vs. Black
4. Light Orange vs. Yellow
Yes, like most men (statistically), it is not easy for me to distinguish some
specific colors. Hence the question: Is there a way (special light) for one to
easily separate/sort parts with similar colors?
For example, to separate TransOrange from TransNeonOrange, I got myself a black
light bulb, and voila, works like a charm. Some colors are easy to single out
under bright sun, but it's the middle of winter here are we got few more
months before the sun is not shy anymore.

Could anyone confirm what the color is of that 2x4 brick?
Looks like a pearly blue to me but that could be due to lighting of course or

The flat end spear is new Pearl Dark Gray.

| Having trouble identifying some shades. Thought I had pearl light grey but
looks closer to pearl dark grey and then the one on the far right looks to be
pearl black, which doesn't exist apparently. Also not sure if top dots are
metallic or flat silver. I know the piece on the very top is Pearl Light Grey
as it only comes in a few colours. Trying to make a physical piece chart.

Concerning these two parts specifically in Dark Brown....
I recently acquired set 6073-1 complete in the box, and it looks barely touched
since it was opened. All the pieces are in like new condition and all the feathers
are still on the sprues and the pamphlet is even in the box. Curiously, the bows
and quivers are dark brown instead of the standard brown, or at least they appear
dark brown compared to standard brown parts I have.
While it is hardly proof that this is a possible source of these pieces in this
color, it's a pretty strong indication. I just thought some people might
find it an interesting find.

I have a couple of clone and stormtroopers that are yellowing; because of this
I have put away almost anything that’s predominantly white.
What’s the best way of removing this if at all possible? I know about using peroxide

minifigures.
Thank you for your time.

I have checked the inventory on Bricklink, but there were 2 different boxes and
there is only 1 inventory.
Anyway, I am looking at some 2 x 4 bricks which have been stored away in clipseal

This is because I cannot be 100% certain of the 2 colours
I believe one might be lilac and the other possibly Lavender, but I need to be

Can anyone help ?

| Hi everyone.
I recently bought Mos Eisley Cantina (75290) and noticed the Metallic Silver
lightsaber hilts, looks much different compared to other sets such as the one
from the Imperial Shuttle (75302). I have attached an image below of the two
lightsabers, supposedly in the same colour.
The one on the left is from the Cantina and looks really great, in fact it looks
pretty close to chrome silver, just not as shiny. The difference might not be
so obvious on the image, but the lightsaber hilt on the right is very "grainy"
(no it is not dust), darker and much more matte. I really like the colour from
the Cantina, but I hate the one from the shuttle, but does anyone know how to
only buy the shiny variant on bricklink, since it is listed as the same colour?

Just look at 2022 sets.
You will find many sets which actually do not include any Nougat pieces ..
Nougat is not Medium Nougat.

| Hi,
I was sorting some pieces I from a new set, and I noticed that the 59349 trans-light
blue panel was noticeably lighter than the one from another set, which was also
new (Set 80109 vs. 60347).
I reached out to Lego, and they said that sunlight or cigarettes could cause
the color change... but these are both new sets, and I generally take care of
my pieces.
For my customers, how do I differentiate the panels that are "lighter" trans-light
blue and "darker" trans-light blue?
I feel like if I were a customer, I would not accept parts that had a mix of
the two.
Any input appreciated! Thanks!

what it sounds: a pink, chrome, lego plate 1x2 studs.

Thanks for your thoughts.

| I am not an expert on Bionicles, but I understand that the feet, head, and carapace
on all six of the original Rahkshi were pearl versions of the prime Mata/Nuva
colors.
The only example I have to hand is a Rahkshi head bought as "Chrome Green", others
are on sale as "Metallic Green". It clearly does not match either the Chrome
Green "Rock 1 x 1 Crystal 5 Point", or any of the Technic Metallic Green parts.
Yet it definitely has a metallic sheen compared to normal Green. I believe that
by analogy with the Pearl White already in the catalog there should be a Pearl
Green available for Bionicle Foot Rahkshi; Bionicle Head, Rahkshi; and Bionicle
Rahkshi Back Cover with Groove.
There may well be a case for other Pearl colors for these parts, but I am not
in possession of the items necessary to do such a diagnosis.
This is my first Post to this Forum, so if it is inappropriate, please forgive
me.

| These windows come from set 4768, a set that had this part in both 'Copper'
and TLG 297 Warm Gold across two different releases. My assumption is that the
first 2005 release had this part in what we believe is Copper and that a 2006
release had these in TLG 297 Warm Gold. Sets with alternates (especially during
this year) had different colors in a second wave after a color used in the first
wave was retired, which is why I wasn't too confident that this part appeared
in TLG 139 Copper, as it wasn't removed until around 2008. I'll attach
a photo and would love to know what you guys think!

But when sorting I noticed there are 2 clearly distinguishable colors.
Satin Trans-Dark Pink and what appears "Satin Bright Pink".
The first is the one on the right of the pictures, it has transparency and it
is darker just like Trans-Dark Pink but with the Satin. The other, the one on
the left is pink with no transparency at all.
Both have molded 65002 inside, so a change in plastic material seems not as it

| We had an order with a color error.
We didn't see the stock we put for sale was the wrong color.
No problem.
But it was mainly because of the confusing "Medium" term in colors:
Medium Violet: is lighter than Violet
Medium Blue: is lighter than Blue
Medium Green: is lighter than Green
Medium Lime: is lighter than Lime
Medium Orange: is lighter than Orange
BUT, at the opposite...
Medium Nougat: is DARKER than Nougat
Medium Lavender: is DARKER than Lavender
Proposal: Just like Medium Dark Pink, couldn't we rename those to:
Medium Dark Nougat
Medium Dark Lavender?
This way it would be clear that those are darker than the original.
Ah - and BTW, why Medium Azure and not Azure?
If it's not a problem, simply ignore it.

Neon Yellow has already been used for many types (tiles, plates, bricks, slopes…)

Do you think MBn will (soonishly) be used for bricks & plates?

|
| All -
The BrickLink catalog team has reached a consensus on this matter.
The new LEGO "Medium Brown" will be going into the catalog as "Medium Brown".
The color formerly known as "Dark Flesh" for most of BrickLink's existence
and then more recently renamed to "Medium Brown" only a couple of years ago will
be renamed to "Light Brown".
We feel that the newest color should definitely have its own place, and that
it will cause the least amount of confusion for all to have it named what LEGO
has named it. This then obviously requires the old color name to need changing.
"Light Brown" was settled on for two main reasons:
(1) The "Light" token has been used extensively in the past for colors on BrickLink
to differentiate tones.
(2) The official name for the color by LEGO is "Brown".
Therefore, "Light Brown" respects the heritage of the history of BrickLink colors
as well as the heritage of the LEGO name for it. Since the color is technically
lighter than BrickLink "Brown", it also works nicely in the system.
The changes to the catalog will be completed over the next few days to install
the newest color to the LEGO family.
Thank you for all of the discussion in the forums concerning this matter. The
team really appreciates it.
Cheers,
Randy

| Maybe I missed it, but with the new Medium Brown coming out (Hogwarts Magical
Trunk is for sale today), I wanted to see if there would be another discussion,
like there was with Neon Yellow.
It strikes me as similar to BL Medium Brown, so I could certainly see "New Medium
Brown". Also I made a swatch based on similar colors. I'd really like to
see what everyone thinks, but honestly one of the key reasons I'm bringing
it up is that I *do not* want to see both colors covered by one BL name.

| So I've got some neon test bricks, but they don't exactly match their
respective bb1001 parts and I was wondering if there's an issue similar to
Rust, in that the perhaps the type of plastic is why the color looks a bit off
(https://www.flickr.com/photos/126975831@N07/15077477860/in/photolist-2iXhkKS-vi8tn8-p4Pkqo-oYm1SQ-gyoWEa-ntKvBU-dqnyhT).
Put another way, if Rust color parts are actually TLG 21; might the same be
true for these test bricks vs. the kind of plastic used for watch bands?
Any additional info on Rust, Neon colors, or really any of the watch band colors
would be much appreciated.

it hard to identify, but I have four different shades of purple going on here.
Cape #3 is most likely Dark Purple but options for the other capes would be light
purple, purple, or violet.
Then with the browns - I believe the one on the left is reddish brown, how about
the one on the right - Brown or Dark Brown?
Thanks a bunch.

Staring at it, and also reviewing some of the humorous take offs on reddit, got
me to thinking ... Are there enough LEGO color shades of gray to make a version
that fades from black on one side to white on the other ? It would require a
total of 11 colors, so white and black on the outer edges, then 9 shades between
them. Without going into the old grays, I don't think it could be done. Anyone
have any ideas on how to make this work ?

Does anyone know if the shade of Pearl Dark Gray has changed over the years?
I have some bionicle pieces and looking at the available colours they could only
be Pearl Dark Gray, but some other (perhaps newer) pieces must also be Pearl
Dark Gray, but they are a bit different.
I am think that maybe the earlier PDG was based on the old Dark Gray, and the

| hello.
Here is a suggestion-
I think it would be most helpful if someone could sell a super lot color sample
of a 2 x 2 brick of each color. i would like to create a reference color charts
for personal use in my small store, i would glue, ( I know, Horrible) them to
a mat and label them, so I could quickly glance at them while listing parts.
has anyone seen such a combo listed? if not I think it would be a good seller
to those who do have bricks in most of the colors.one? I dont have the same brick
in every color, to buy them from several stores could be cost prohibitive because
of shipping..
lots new stores on bricklink would want to buy one as the color shade issue
can be daunting...
so what do you think?

When I recently took a closer look at the rings from Escape From the Ten Rings

this just expected of Chrome Gold pieces by now?

| I recieved a lot from eBay this morning. The seller described it as his collection
from the 1970s.
The blue pieces all look like this. The 2×4 with the old logo is the color in
question, the 2×3 is a modern piece for comparison.
I can't tell if they're discolored from age, or a different color entirely.
The whites are all faded to Ivory or even Cream. The reds all look good. The
yellows and the light grey base brick look a bit faded, and all of the parts
are quite dirty and played with.
So, are these standard blue, and just discolored? Or are they another color
entirely? Perhaps Maersk Blue(looks too dark to me, but i have no comparison
piece).
On a side note, I'm overjoyed to have some old logo studs, and some no-cross-support
2×4s and lots of pat pending pieces!

| Hello All, I have two Item # 44813 Bionicle Weapon Staff of Light Blade. They
are neither Flat Silver nor Pearl Light Gray/Grey. I have included photos where
you can see the part number 44813 and the copyright c2002 LEGO Group. As well
on the reverse of both is the number 58813, also visible in the photos. Also
there are currently 13 sellers selling this part under the colour "Dark Red".
One seller includes a photo of the part against a green background. As you
can see the part isn't completely "Dark Red" but rather is partly semi-transparent.
I suggest we formalize this part with this colour scheme and add it to the catalog.
I make no suggestion that colour scheme should be associated with any particular
set, but clearly, it exists.

a normal color variation? The part in question doesn't seem to come in any
other greenish colors. Looking at the color guide online it seems to resemble

In the photo I have attached, the window piece also came with the set. I have

I am not sure if this is intentional or a color error at the manufacturing plant,

can't identify the color of. They are from set 41154 and the only gray listed
in the inventory is LBG. The pieces in question are the 1x1 bricks as well as
the 1x2x5 bricks. For reference, the arch, 1x4, and 2x4 are light bluish gray.
The liftarm is very light bluish gray.
I know there is a variance in the light bluish gray, but this is a pretty dramatic
shade difference. And they ALL have the same shade, every 1x1 and 1x2x5. They
are LEGO pieces as I checked the studs and the logo is present.
Any ideas? Or have I overlooked something simple?
